[Q] ViperX 2.7 and Faux Problem - HTC One X

Hi,
I just flashed ViperX 2.7 and faux 10u and I noticed that in the cpu section of venom tweaks min cpu frequency is set to be 1500 and max is set to be 1600. Is this correct? I have a variant one chip so the overclock should only be 1500 right? When the phone first boots min frequency would say 51 (which i assume is correct) but after some use it becomes 1500. This doesn't look right.

How do I use SetCPU?

Probably a dumb question from a noob,
But nonetheless a vital one.
I recently rooted my DHD and installed SetCPU - but what next? Do I set the overclock and undervolt values myself, or are they already set?
Sorry that this seems to stupid and trivial, but at the moment I'm not sure if it's actually DOING anything.
Thanks in advance!
You have to use a custom kernel if you want to OC your phone because HTCs stock kernels uave a 'feature' called Perf Lock which doesn't allow you to OC your phone.( underclocking should work, tho)
With custom kernels you can OC up to 2ghz (depends on which kernel you use).

How would I underclock then? I really only downloaded it to save myself battery - I just don't want to stuff anything up.
1) Make sure you enable "set on boot"
2) Under profile tab, enable it and then customize the profile.
For maximizing the battery, I'm currently using this profile. Start from there and personalize it.

Same way you over-clock with ONE minor difference... That's right, you lower the numbers!
Create profiles similar to post above but I would put screen off as top priority otherwise if it's plugged in and screen off, especially with performance setting, it will sit there at high clocks when it doesn't need to.
Out of curiosity, when you looked at the setcpu threads, what about them was in any way unclear? Let me know and I'll see if we can get them edited.

[Q] my phone keeps freezing .. help?

when ever i o/c my phone to above 1200 Mhz it seems to freeze when on demand or any other profiles
and the same for if i flash a rom with Virtuous OC Daemon
but it i set it to stay at a frequency say min 1500Mhz - max 1500 Mhz it works fine
it started doing this after i flashed an updated miui rom
and it dose it using any o/c app
This was a voltage step (UV) problem, and not all dhds have a problem with it.
Most flashable oc setting have a script to remove the offensive voltage. But as far as i know this has been sorted.
I would try another kernel that suits your phone better.

Is it normal that quick system info reports my cpu clock is at 1.4ghz instead of 1.5?

Hi. I have a rooted HTC One X international version with the quad core processor supposedly. 1.5ghz but when i checked quick system info it says my cpu clock is only running at 1.4ghz. I have set cpu installed and i have ensured that ive set the min and max to 1.5ghz but still it remains at 1.4ghz. I dont know if it was like this before i rooted my device or before i installed setcpu, or if this is just the way its supposed to be. Please advice.
If ever this is unusual, could someone tell me how to fix it? Should i reflash the kernel or bootloader?
Thanks in advance for ur help.

i tried it and the cpu range shows as 51 to 1500 no probs.
try cpu spy, then run a bench mark service, then go back to cpu spy and check if it reached 1500ghz
Oh, sorry if I got misunderstood. Setting the range is NOT the problem. I can set it just fine, and the profiles work well too. It's just that if I set the min and max to 1500mhz, the ACTUAL cpu clock (the large number on top of the min and max sliders) remains at 1400. When I lower/change the min max, the frequency lowers/changes accordingly. But, as I mentioned, the max ACTUAL cpu frequency remains at 1400mhz even though the sliders are already set to 1500mhz.
So, I want to know if that's normal. I read from somewhere that the maximum frequency for multi-core is 1400mhz and the maximum frequency for single core is 1500mhz. But I'm not sure though so I want to verify that information.
Thanks!

[Q] Franco Kernel - Magically Changing CPU

I've been using Franco kernel for a long time now, on various ROMs. My current ROM is JBSourcery (4.1.1); I've always had this problem though, no matter if the kernel was on a milestone build or nightlies. The Max cpu and governor change almost randomly! I'll set the max cpu to 1536 or 1612 and after a few hours or a few minutes it changes on its own!
For example, I changed the CPU to 1612 max and 384 min with 'interactive' governor.
Later that day (less than an hour later) it starts lagging like crazy, so I look at the settings and it's changed to 1036 max, 728 min and the 'ondemand' governor. This happens frequently, usually after I've locked it for awhile, and reopened it. It's starting to drive me crazy!
I have "set cpu settings on boot" checked, as well as "set governor control on boot" This is happening on all the kernel versions I've tried so far, including 262, 264, 268 and Milestone5. What on earth is going on?!
dmesg or it never happened
post in franco's thread, way better chances of getting his/other users attention than here.

then its your rom thats broken, probably doesnt have the powerhal fix. some cpu control apps include the fix in the app for that reason, like the trinity kernel toolbox app. i dont think francos app includes it. or the fix could be as simple as updating your busybox.

Thanks! I'll try the trinity toolkit for a week and see what happens.

[Q] ARHD with XM Kernel 1.3ghz default?

Hi i have ARHD on my phone with the XM Kernel. I was slightly suprised in the Trickster MOD app, the max clock speed is 1.3ghz. Yes i know i can OC to 1.5 but im not sure what is setting this. When i had ARHD installed with stock kernel it was showing 1.3 as default. I assume that was set by the ROM. But i installed this kernel and still has 1.3 as the default.
Also the default govenor settings for the gaming one has the boost_freq set at 1300000, which is 1.3ghz, that can be changed to 1.5 also. But surely the boost freq would be the max freq no matter if you move the slider to 1.5 in the basic controls? But i would be suprised that the gaming govenor would underclock the cpu, surely for gaming you would want the phone maxed out?
Is this expected with the XM Kernel and the ARHD? And if so, is there any things i can change in the govenor settings to make sure it performs at absolute max?
It's kernel related; Xmisters' kernels since 188 have a hard cap(1.3Ghz) by default, but using trickster mod, or another o/c apk, you can raise it to the stock 1.5Ghz(tick 'set on boot' to ensure it stays at 1.5) The best settings are trial and error, tbh, I use touchdemand/sio though smartmax seems to be the best balance.
Thanks for the answer. i can change it to 1.5 easy enough, but if you look in the govenor control, the boost_freq is is set to 1300000. If i left it at that, would it prevent the cpu from going up to 1.5?

you have sleep (lowest CPU can go), ideal freq(the speed the CPU aims for while awake), touch poke (when you touch the screen), boost (what it boosts too to prevent lag) and max (CPU flat out)
Setting the boost to 1.3 will still allow the could to run at full speed.

That makes sense, cheers. So its probably a good idea to leave it as it is then.
