I forget the reason behind the wifi issue, i had it too. reflashing the rom should fix that.As for the /data issue i would try to wipe manually. like backup your whole internal sd and running rm -r /data in adb or terminal

[Q] flashing roms.. ect without sd card

is it possible to flash a rom without the actual sd card? because my sd card slot has basically been broken off and ive semi bricked my htc vision. so if somebody can please tell me how or at least some how back to stock it would be very much appreciated. =)
it would be very complicated, becuase you would have to repartition your 4gb ram in 3 mounts.
it would best if you do it through adb commands.
Well im willing to do anything to get it working again and im pretty good with adb so would there be anyway i could get the commands

I had that same issue when I changed my recovery version. I wen't from standard to touch recovery and that's when I noticed that issue. I mounted and un-mounted my cache partition then wiped all my cache partitions and the issue never came back. But I just change my recovery back to standard again to flash an ICS Rom, and haven't noticed it back though. Maybe it happens when you change to a touch recovery?
Did you just change your recovery by chance?
I did just go from 5.0.2.6 to 5.0.2.7
But it started before I switched. I actually switched to see if it would fix it, I'll have try your suggestion thanks

Hey guys, I hate to bump an old thread, but I'm having the same problem.
I tried flashing a new CWM, which didn't fix it, and I tried what RikkKeith suggested ("I mounted and un-mounted my cache partition then wiped all my cache partitions and the issue never came back.")
I'm not sure what caused this, but here's a list of odd things that have happened and what I've done recently (in chronological order):
music stopped working (not sure if this has anything to do with it)
I attempted to un-install and reinstall Avast anti-theft
attempted to install the aGPS fix
restored from a backup
used ODIN to flash CWM 5.0.2.7 (instead of 5.0.2.6. Happened after this problem started appearing)
The phone is a Koodo T989D running the stock OS.
Thank you VERY much for any help.

Thanks for the suggestions man.
I was hoping to avoid CWM 6.x for a little bit as I'm essentially operating as tech support for four T989Ds, and I'm trying to keep this stuff as similar as possible between all four.
I'll give them a try and then report back.
edit: updated to 6.0.1.2 (version 12.5 from this thread). It still says the following on boot:

Moving on to the second suggestion.
edit2: refomat said it was successful ("formatting /cache..." "Done."). Going to attempt to reboot.
edit3: it appears to be working. Thanks
Problem disappeared for me when I switched to TWRP, which I much prefer.

Can you tell how i can reformat my cache partition into ext4 format? i've got the same problem since i installed CWM Touch so i removed it and ut my hone back to stock unrooted and the problem still persists and i cant use flashimage do anything that includes intalling custom recovery imgs with the adb shell and terminal app in android. even with root access i dont have the right permissions. ive tried fixing the permissions but it fails. so plz help, im pretty desperate to try anything to fix my phone.
Nevermind about my cry for help guys, I figured out a solution by going back to stock, flashed twrp, and put CyanogenMod temporarily just to convert an img file to a flashable md5 with the help of terminal emulator for android (been having problems with heimdall lately), etc…
Here's what i did when i said converting…
I opened a linux command line (terminal emulator) on my phone, and ran these commands on the img file.
Code:
cd /mnt/sdcard/download
mv recovery-clockwork-6.0.2.7-hercules.img recovery.img
tar -c recovery.img > recovery.tar
md5sum -t recovery.tar >> recovery.tar
mv recovery.tar recovery.tar.md5
zip recovery.tar.md5 recovery-clockwork-6.0.2.7-hercules.zip
rm recovery.tar.md5
rm recovery.img
exit
Connected my phone to my pc, copied the zip, extracted it, flashed the image using ODIN, and Voilà.
Then i followed the other steps on CyanogenMod's wiki for installing CM10 onto the hercules and everything went perfectly into order.

Strange issue after clearing cache...

Rooted, Stock ICS 4.0.4.
After clearing cache using the Darkside cache cleaner or whatever it is, I can no longer update hosts file with Ad-Away. Also, I cannot update BusyBox, and I cannot mount directories as r/w within Root Explorer. I tried to reinstall the Superuser.zip, and it said it was removing the old one and putting it back (in recovery mode), but it still hasn't fixed the issue....
Some of the applications that were already granted Superuser access do function properly...such as Titanium Backup...and they detect that the phone is rooted.
What's going on? How do I fix this?
Thanks!

Yeah I believe so. You got a link to the new one?
So what do I have to do. Just flash over the current recovery with 6.0, clear cache, reinstall superuser? Or is it not necessary to clear cache again?
Thanks!

This is what I did:
Download ROM Manager, and use that to install it.
Do restore, and you should be good.

How am I supposed to update CWM if nothing is getting root access?...even though it says Superuser is granting perms.
So I did exactly that...installed new CWM....reinstalled Superuser...still nothing is working. I tried ES file manager...fails to mount anything as rw. Tried re-updating superuser binary...fails to mount rw. I cannot mount any directory to rw...yet some root applications work...what is going on?!?!?! How do I fix this?

Cant remember who said it or where i read it wish i could give credit to them but its been awhile it happened to me comming from gb to 4.0.3 id have root for a few hours then would lose it . U might beable to just delete those and reflash root file and it might work if not delete those and reflash through odin . I know its alot of work but it works. I guess data from ur previous os is corruting the new one and breaking root. I tried reflashing fresh from odin several times before deleteing those files and it never worked untill i deleted those .

It just doesn't make sense honestly..
I tried reinstalling Superuser..and even flashing SuperSU...but no luck. This is the STRANGE PART!!
I can actually download ad-away updates and install busy box within the first few minutes of the phone booting. I can also mount /system as rw while the phone is still in the process of booting up. Once this takes place however, I can no longer mount anything as rw...and busybox won't install, ad-away won't update, etc.
But applications can request permission for superuser...and do work!! I don't understand!?!??! What is causing rw to change to ro after boot?
All of this... have you tried simply reflashing your current ROM?

It just overwrites your /system and /boot partitions, leaving /data alone. Unless you specifically wipe or factory reset, your data remains.

Well if you have tried difrent ROMs and kernels then I suggest just doing a full wipe (system and everything just to be cautious) and then flash a ftf and if that don't work then yea probably hardware most likely the battery is loose or just bad

I think he means wiping everything via fastboot or recovery. And as he said your prawns which hold your battery in could be loose. Otherwise after a random reboot do this via adb or terminal emulaor app
Code:

Code:

Download root explorer app (use search its free for xda members) and then usibg that app, search for your sdcard yours will probably be on the root of your device like so /sdcard so ur command will be something like

attached me mounting system? I think, never done it before. As i entered recovery, clicked mount /system when the unmount /system appeared i rebooted system since i cant see how to move files in recovery.
The rom doesn't properly disable sony ric, it seems. Using dualrecovery should fix it but I don't know if you can just flash it over the rom. You need to ask the developer.

Sadly cant contact developer via PM or post in ROM development thread. (getting those 10 posts can be a barrier for a lurker like me )
What exactly do you mean by using dualrecovery (just installing/flashing it?), im ready to try, i reflashed rom few times anyway, and im ready to go back to stock rom if neccesary i have time and almost remember root process at this point anyway, it goes hella fast.
Edit: flashed dualrecovery, WORKS! Many thanks, now ill try somehow contact dev if its fine with his ROM
