Which ROM and kernel? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody. I am getting the Xperia Play tomorrow or Saturday. I plan on flashing a custom ROM and kernel right away. On my current phone, I am using JB and really love it. Are their any good JB ROM and kernel combinations for the Xperia play. If there aren't, what are some other good ROM and kernel combinations. I am looking for something fast, smooth, clean and with good battery life. Oh, and I also plan on overclocking. Any tips on that? Thanks!

If i was you i'd install Nxt 1.3 gb by kris dee, with Lupus v4 kernal, best rom by miles even though its based on gingerbread,
Also i'v flashed baseband 36 which is the best baseband for battery performance, My battery lasts alot longer than normal

There are two really good roms:
XperiaNXT (Android2.3.7)
Unofficial Test Release ICS (Android4.0.4)
And two Kernels:
LuPuS
DooMKernel
I Using the Unofficial Test release with LuPuS-ICS-Beta-Kernel V8, overlocked to1.8 GHz and I'm very happy with this combination.
Great performance and great Design...
And in the next days come update v2 with more improvements...
Use this combination, you would be faszinated

Thanks for the tips. I think I will try ICS unofficial test rom with Lupus kernel.

which are the best ROM for arc/arcs xperia mod/arconium/cm7

hey guys any idea which is best for you?
The best stock based ROM is imo Acronium, but I like CM7 more.

nice love CM7 too
Stock+tweaks is the best! Since you can utilize all features of your phone with stock only! Hence acronium or xperia mod gets my vote. Both of them are nearly identical since they are based on stock ROM.
What's better:
xperia mod or arconium?
Just tried arconium and I'm liking it so far.

My vote is for se-tweaked

No the best ROM is SE Tweaked 0.8.5 compaed to any other stock or custom build. Team it with Doomkernel and you have a superb lag free fast phone.. For me CM always appeared dull compared to the stock ROMs. And typical to any CM ROM it had missing features and poor battery.

which one of these ROMs holds longer battery life ?

With cm you also cant use the keyboard in landscape properly without hammering the space bar key which is pretty retarded imo. Also the camera sucks. Im on stock with doom kernel personally. I had a look at arconium but couldn't really see any benefit over stock rom same with xperia mod. Might give se tweaked a go though.
what about stock .62 ? anyone used it ?
Which are the best ROM for battery??? Arconium, xperiamod or se tweaked??? Only expert please and one reason thanks

I have used Arconium with doomlord kernel for few weeks now. Very good battery usage in my average use (2 days usualy). I tested few roms and always went back to stock, before I found Arconium.
SoftWhite MIUI! I love it!
i Use FXP104 an i love it, the only think i dont like is that the batterie lasts not very long
my vote for Arconium with DooMKernel
..fast, no lags, and battery drain is excellent
I'm happy with stock 042 but I'm thinking to give a try to Arconium....
Do it
I regret that I waited till I tried it, it's AWESOME!

Most stable kernel to you

What is the most stable kernel for you? I'm currently on Faux's kernel for the Jedi Mind Trick ROM and I have a slight issue with overheating.
^ +1
Have never downloaded a kernel till last night. I am on TQF and Unofficial SlimBean, and i have yet to have a problem and i am loving my phone so much right now with these two together.
Jedikernel 2 stock uvlhi, a stable minded system.

I have tried almost all the JB kernels, and I think Lightning Zap is the best, getting awesome performance and battery life running ALL STAR v5.
I'm running cm10 nightlies 12192012 and I'm using the kko.12 and better life is good if you under clock and under volt but other wise has awesome performance
very much like lightning zap but basically lightning zap was built off kko.12 so either its a preferential thing and they both run smooth
As far as stability goes, features aside, I've found stock, faux, and Jedi 2 all very stable.

[Q] any good Jelly bean-ROM for the R800i BL unlocked?

As the title says.
And the ROM should be good for daily use and if it's possible, have the gamepads working.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards RazerBlader.

I would recommend express ICS ROM. Its really smooth and touch pads work. There are some nice jelly bean ROMs but games don't work very well. I also heard chrisds ics ROM is pretty nice. Just make a backup and try them to see which you like best. Also I would recommend turbo kernel 3.1 because it is compatible with all rom types and had multi boot.

Well, ICS and JB are having pretty much the same problems with the gamepad and touchpads.
If you are playing a lot then GB Rom like nxt LE would be the best.
If not then I know 3 good smooth roms.
PAC - with fireworks and sh*tload of options, the least smooth of these three (my favorite)
Turbo JB - half fireworks, half clean. Jellyzeus - clean jelly bean (there's not even percentage battery) but it's definitely the smoothest of all JB roms.
Kernel for GB option for max performance - lupus gb
Kernel for max performance in JB/ICS - Turbo kernel v3.1, no doubts.
Well, you can use GB with turbo kernel but it's not optimised for it and you'll get like 500-2k points more in benchmark if you'll use lupus gb for gb.
Current high score in benchmark is 8600 and average is about 6000.

Actually gaming is better on ICS than jelly bean because on ics i can play NFS and other 3d games while on jelly bean I hey extreme lag or game won't open.

I've tried both. PAC was nice and most games worked but I couldn't play NFS most wanted which I just bought a week ago so it made me not want to use it. Now I'm using ICS. Extreme ROM was probably the best ics one I've tried for r800x but I like the miui look and feel. Not sure if your question was asked to me but I responded anyway

Yeah it was, I guess you've had pac installed in slots 2-4,right ? If yes then your sd speed could not be enough, I've tried vc in the exact same rom but it was a lot flawless on the internal than on sdcard. Could you now flash pac on slot 2-4 (i assume you have 3.1 turbo kernel from your sig) and tell me what sdcard you've got because pac lags like hell for me in slots 2-4 even though I have class 10 uhs1 card and this problem has appeared recently for me, please post your results in the turbo kernel thread if you can also it would be perfect if this pac would be v6.1
Thanks in advance.

I run FreeXperia's CM10 FXP209 build on my Internal and I have Spizzy's AuroraPlay in Slot 1 of my SD Card. FXP's CM10 is pretty good at doing things. I can't give it a real analysis for gaming because I really have only ventured into emulation and Minecraft. Minecraft works pretty well, and emulation is almost flawless if you have the right emulators.
HINT: If you're looking for PS1 emulation, look no further than PSXe Android. It's far better than RetroArch.
I use krisdee's ICS rom with lupus stock gb/ics kernel have this for almost two weeks and i can say it is very good for everyday use
To me this is the best JB rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952220
EVERY JB ROM FOR XPERIA PLAY STILL HAS TOUCHPAD LAG BUG. And still nobody discoverd how to fix it. But besides that, JB roms are perfectly working.
ICS and GB has almost the same compatibilty for games (of course GB has 100%). So, if your're priority is gaming stay on GB.
GB> install NXT Rom 1.3
ICS> install Hybrid Rom

Do you have the cdma version or gsm. If you have gsm Id recommend aurora play or gin2jellybean. They are both gb and have everything working. (Ginger bread is the only version with everything working). If you have cdma then stock would be the best and just theme it using one of attacks themes. There are plenty ics and jb roms but games don't run smooth on them so id recommend you to stay on gb.

gingerbread roms: aurora play/gin2jellybean / ICS: True Ancestor / Hybrid / with the ICS true ancestor im on gsm everything is working fine games are smooth battery life is good. benchmark score of 6740
which rom are u currently running and is everything working and hows battery life
for me im using aurora as my gb rom and i use ics beta fixed as my daily rom
battry life is great and touchpad and gamepads are working perfecly
and are you sure about true ancestor benchmark
For me;
GB: dixperia 2
ICS: True ancestors/Hybrid
JB: cm10
Right now I'm on ICS True ancestor and for me, no bugs and the games run very smooth

yes im perfectly sure, i have customized this rom used it as a based applied, tweaked build prob, custom libs, and many more so far im getting 6000 on every test i run. and of course the battery life last me a long time, long enough to have a pokemon leveled up to 99 ahahahaha
still confused i dont know which ics rom has everything working dont wanna keep flashing i like games and at the same time need good battery life
I havnt tried atomic gb but i think its one of the best roms
Dixperia 2 is a little bit laggy and only the theme is customized. Its not good for gaming
gin2jellyabean is the best rom

best kernel for stock based rom

hi guys,
for the xperia s there is a lot of a discontinued kernel like doomlord one or tx-core from trynity. But what's the best kernel for battery and speed for stock based rom?
thanks in advance
That is a matter of opinion
id recomend staying on the stock rom
doomkernel is the best to use, its the safest kernel to use and has some nice features
stock rom is safe and nice to use, its fast but slightly buggy in other ways
i hope my advice/opinion helps you out
its what i use and ive got the best results aside using FXP CM10
I dont think "Best rom" threads are alowed so avoid making them in the future
