Most stable kernel to you - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

What is the most stable kernel for you? I'm currently on Faux's kernel for the Jedi Mind Trick ROM and I have a slight issue with overheating.

^ +1

Have never downloaded a kernel till last night. I am on TQF and Unofficial SlimBean, and i have yet to have a problem and i am loving my phone so much right now with these two together.

Jedikernel 2 stock uvlhi, a stable minded system.

I have tried almost all the JB kernels, and I think Lightning Zap is the best, getting awesome performance and battery life running ALL STAR v5.

I'm running cm10 nightlies 12192012 and I'm using the kko.12 and better life is good if you under clock and under volt but other wise has awesome performance
very much like lightning zap but basically lightning zap was built off kko.12 so either its a preferential thing and they both run smooth

As far as stability goes, features aside, I've found stock, faux, and Jedi 2 all very stable.

What rom do you currently have on your galaxy nexus?
just got a nexus and has kang rom on it. i want to know what the best rom is

AOKP and lean kernel. Fastest and best battery life.

AOKP and some kernel. I personally use Franco Kernel but look around and see what you like the most.
where can i find this rom? thanks for quick replies
Check the Dev section.
Goodluck!
Now with AOKP, use to be Slim. Both of them are great.
right now i think AOKP is the best. i used the official CM9 nightlies and there were pretty awesome, but still needs some features that i really need
Official CM9 Nightlies, Franco kernel.
Faster than the speed of light.

I'm using codename and just recently switched to francos 18.4 and now 18.6 kernel. I have zero complaints, the only thing I haven't gotten to work is Google plus hangout video chat but I haven't updated to the latest gapps yet. I bet I will try akop one day since it is so popular (maybe at milestone 4) but I have no reason to. Codename is killer smooth.

I was running ARHD but switched to the most recent CM9 nightly earlier this morning. CM9 is faaaaassst and so far no issues. Oh and I'm using the stock CM9 kernel.

Definitely liking AOKP Milestone 3. Plenty stable for me, and adds some nice features not included with the stock ROM. Paired with GladOS 1.15 kernel. Butter smooth, ~3+ hours screen on time with the stock GSM battery.
apparently aokp is the boss rom

I personally got best battery life and smoothness using lean kernel after testing every other kernel. Different results for different people I guess so you'll have to try kernels out yourself and see what you find best

I've just switched to the Glados Kernel found on RootzWiki with AOKP, and it's the best combination I've tried so far I think.

Brand New To GNexus...Best ROM/Kernel Combo?

I was looking at the CM9 Nightly with Trinity kernel or stock IMM76I with Trinity kernel (if it works together...waiting for a reply).
I literally haven't used the phone yet besides speed test and then rooting/unlocking/custom recovery so....just curious to hear opinions
Aokp rom and James bond 3.1 kernel. They will give you stability, performance and fantastic battery life.

I know even on the Kindle Fire it is as well.

BAMF hands down with its stock kernal
We need a rule for 'best rom/kernel' posts. There is no such thing and there never will be.
Literally like asking, "whose the best comedian?" or "What's the best type of fruit?"
Its all subjective. Just read the description of each rom/kernel and determine which one is the best for your personal needs.
It's pretty to switch up rom/kernel combinations, especially when you first get your phone.
Try GummyNex and Franco kernel.
Also, I highly recommend you stay away from AOKP. Alot of the posts about "this phones laggy etc etc" keep coming from people who are running AOKP. Just avoid it, maybe dab in it.
CM9 is pretty good for me too with franco.
I think the best is liquid smooth and franco

Have you thought about paranoid android? I run it with james bond kernal.. its built upon cm9.. hacked nova/market.. its a tablet hybrid. That means it gives you the function of a tablet while still maintaining the aesthetics of a phone.. its really a great rom. Its in its early stages but is still one of a kind. Check it out in either the cdma or GSM section..
I posted a screen shot of it.

Stock ftw.
teach a man to fish, you feed him for life. teach a man to fastboot, and you create competency. and less threads on xda.
You should try black ice with lean kernel - great battery life, nice theme and smooth. I personally had random reboots with liquidsmooth and aokp but otherwise they were great roms.
I ran stock with Trinity kernel for a few hours then flashed Liquid 1.35 with Trinity and have been using it since. Really smooth and fast. Battery seems good thus far. Really enjoying it.
Coming from N1 as a ROM whore, so to speak, I'm sure I'll end up trying every which one.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Hey redrum! Nice seeing you here!
I'm not much for changing ROMs on this phone yet since I don't feel there aren't many worth using. I'd like something more reliable than a nightly. I think you remember I did say many times I am no fan of nightlies when I had the N1
The best combo I've tried so far is either LiquidSmooth plus Leankernel or CM9 + franco (or stock cm) kernel. I don't think AOKP is all that fast.
Right now, though, I run stock everything besides CWM. Still unlocked bootloader and rooted, though. Gosh, I miss 4EXT recovery
Ive had mine for a month now and have been running cm 9 the whole time......mainly used franco....which was great...tried glados which didnt like my phone much.....switched to trinity recently....clear winner is trinity...for me. Easily the best performer.....and battery life has been better so far

i747M - Best ROM and Kernel

Hey guys,
What is the best rom/kernel combo you have found? I am currently on slimbean with kT kernel. Looking for what has worked for others :good:
+1
I'm very interested to know myself. I just got the sgs3 coming from a galaxy nexus running aokp. I love the new touchwiz which is ,I find, leaps and bounds beyond the sgs2's version of touchwiz. I actually want to keep it. I want a rom that gives me more without taking anything away. What I mean is a juiced up touchwiz with more customization. No nova or apex. Lte, avcrp and nfc that actually work. landscape mode phablet mode etc. Every rom has one or the other not all.
at this point it really comes down to personal opinion. all roms are heavily supported and seem to be very stable. it depends on what your looking for.
slim is a great rom very smooth and light (only ~80mb in size!) but i've found that i get more random fc's on slimbean than i do on cm10/aokp. so im sticking with cm10 & kt747 kernel for now. i always check out new slimbean updates though, when it gets a little more stable ill probably stay there.
i haven't had much experience with leak based stock jb roms. when the official at&t jb update comes out ill probably stick with stock jb because i do enjoy touchwiz but right now it seems that aosp is better with stability and battery life.
one thing i am sure of is every rom i flash, i flash ktoonsez kt747 kernel. during heavy use i switch to from ondemand to ktoonservative governer and that will really save you battery life.
i think it does come down to personal preference, but what I'm using is the latest Cyanogenmod 10 nightly with Ktoonsez latest kernel (9/23) and it's underclocked and undervolted. Great performance and even better battery life.

Serenity is based on the note 2 software. Milestone is based on the tmobile s3 leak. I tried both and went back to an ics rom (ariel). It just seems more stable and has more of the features that i like.

I really like Serenity v1.1 located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869300.
There are a few bugs here and there, but nothing that would prevent daily use in my opinion. If you are after super stable then you should probably stick with a stock-based ROM of which there are plenty. If you want to try out JB then I'd give Serenity a shot.
I use kt747 with stock rogers rom, (4.1.1 JB). Aside from a couple of issues with charging for while powered off, everything is working well.
Jedi ROM 2.0.
I've had 0 issues with it, great battery life, buttery smooth (using Nova launcher) and everything works flawlessly.

I've tried almost every rom out there but just keep coming back to Blazer or Kyan for my daily satisfactions without frustrations
ATT GS3
White Hot! GS3.
Tried several, AOKP e.g. but none had the full functionality of Diet ICS where literally everything works. It has been my DD for months now, practically the longest I've ever had a rom. Though I'm still waiting for a truly stable JB.

Has anyone tried wanam vs Ariel ? Which is more stable and smooth ?
What : AOKP 10-13-3012 paired with ktoonez KT747 kernel
Why : smooth as silk, nothing i've tried to do hasn't not worked (yes thats a double negative, thats how awesome it is) and paired with the undervolting capabilities of KT747 the battery life is amazing
What more could you ask for in a rom/kernel combo.....other than maybe a sammich
I've used PA, CM10 and AOKP, but im on SlimBean for now. Use to use CM10 as DD but its been very buggy lately. Tried PA for a few weeks but hybrid mode is nothing special, and AOKP had bad battery life for me. SlimBean is ok, not the best but good enough to be a DD. Battery Life is decent. Never tried Baked rom yet but it looks interesting...
I don't really feel like I have a DD just yet. I'm still going thru the searching process for one. For a while, I was using Blazer, then I switched to a couple different JB leaks. I ran a couple different versions of Drew Garen's JB Roms: Milestones 2, 3 & 3.5. They weren't stable enough for me to use daily because of too many force closes and random re-boots. Then I switched to Graffixnyc's BlackJelly: Versions 0.6, 0.7 & 0.8.
I like the theming done in BlackJelly. But lately in V0.8, I've been getting random re-boots. I'm going to test drive Serinity next (probably flash it later today).
I'm really just hopping around sampling everyone elses theming until the official JB is released, then I will probably flock to the one I liked best with a stable ROM. By the way, I don't use any touchwiz, I prefer to use Nova Launcher.
I haven't tried any CM10 or AOKP yet. I'll probably do that when it moves away from nightlies (not that the JB leaks are more stable by any means).
I use liquid rc5, tried switching to pa 2.21, and aokp build 4, but nothing seems to work as well as liquid. New play store installed and working, and as well as jb flash player. Battery is good, but and i never had strong 4G where I'm at, and but I get 5 bars consistently here with liquid. I love it as a daily.
