[DEV][WIP] Project Llama [4.1.2] - HTC Wildfire S

(project) LLAMA
Website: www.projectllama.tk
Features so far:
- AOKP Settings/Customisation options
- Modified bionic for Camera fixes
- Modified msm7k common for GPS fixes
- Protips widget
- Flip-to-loudspeaker, etc. app called "PhoneMotion"
- Project Llama music player (pinata)
- Project Llama launcher (slingshot)
- Unique wallpapers designed by me (they're better than you'd think)
- Advanced settings app, music settings, etc.
The idea is for this to be packed full of features, run AOKP settings and fix all the annoying little things I didnt like when using CM or AOKP.
I am trying to throw everything I know into this ROM, I have arranged things behind the scenes with other developers to have this ROM built from source with modified device trees as well as other developers to have a Gerrit server and web server for the project. If you are interested in this project and wish to help me develop it then please contact me or just post on this thread.
Oh yeah, and Ivan is helping me a bunch
There is no download link as of yet, as I am still preparing stuff before a clean compile. This is also why I have been playing about with CM10 to try and get a clean compile of that, so I know the device tree works for project llama.
I also need a graphic designer if anybody's interested in designing wallpapers, bootanimations or themes for the ROM.
The devices that will most likely to be supported are:
* HTC Wildfire S (GSM)
.....(maintainer: Benjamin Gwynn)
* HTC Salsa
.....(maintainer: Benjamin Gwynn)
* Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM)
.....(maintainer: Ivan Brazza)
* HTC ChaCha
.....(maintainer: Lucas Arran)
Other devices that might be supported are:
* HTC Wildfire S (CDMA)
* HTC One V (GSM)
* HTC One V (CDMA)
* HTC Evo 3D (GSM)
* HTC Sensation
The reason this ROM is different is because it's a mix of stability from CyanogenMod, speed from RobotoMod and SlimBean and features from AOKP.
Gerrit currently isn't working for us, so if you wish to patch something, use pull requests for now
https://github.com/ProjectLlama
Please do not ask for a ROM download! It'll be ready when it's ready, a lot of testing needs to be done first, don't ask to test, we'll test internally
If you can speak another language then please say bellow
All other projects (besides CM10 for the marvel and CM10 for the icon_g) have been suspended in way for this.
Thanks to Eoghan for his server hosting!
IF YOU WANT TO HELP BUT CAN'T DEVELOP, PLEASE DONATE INSTEAD. WE DON'T NEED TESTERS UNLESS SPECIFIED.
Our new website is here: www.projectllama.tk

Also reserved, you'll like whatever goes here I guess.

Nice
I am not criticizing but i thought bugs will be fixed and then there will be ROMs CM10 based... Not like in AOKP

Nice! We'll waiting for a first release .
I speak spanish, by the way. I think I could help with the translation.

When this is built, could I port it to the HTC hero gsm, HTC Droid Eris and HTC hero cdma?
Oh and will this have an AOKP core? just to be clear

Nice to see a good rom in progress......I just hope it's built soon

You may, but only if it is compiled from source will I add you to the maintainers

I was hoping a stable JB and then customs roms based on JB.... At this time only you and modpunk are working on our device. You giving up CM10 dev and modpunk already is leaving...
Don't you think It'll not be that stable?
Again I'm not criticizing but I don't wanna see Robotomod scene here. The development on Robotomod is almost finished halfway as far as I can see. :/
Just expressing my opinion, not trying to offend anybody. Please be calm people.

very fair comment... totally agree
i do like the look of this though :/

Thanks benjamingwynn, ill get started on compiling from source one day, if not, ill port it.
And everyone, ICS is rubbish compared to Jelly Bean, its better to work on that as it will run better and faster.

CM10 is stable enough on our device imho, I can still compile CM10 This ROM will be my daily driver, so I'll work on it a lot. I can use the CM10 device tree in this, so if a bug gets fixed in Wildfire S CM10, it'll get fixed in Wildfire S Project Llama.

Okay cool and I agree.

Aww c'mon. Don't tease us! Can you post a screenshot at least? Cause so far i'm lost with what this ROM is/is going to be.

Oh If that's so then it's cool...
Just one final question (No I'm not asking for ETA. )
What will be the size of the zips? Will it be like "HUGE" like Roboto or somewhat less than 200 MBs?

About the size of CM10. These devices that are supported will have separate download files.

Some already added features are:
* Custom music player (WIP)
* AOKP Settings menu
* PhoneMotion (pick up to answer, etc)
* Slimbean Phone, Contacts and Messaging
* General modifications (strings, etc)
This project is still a WIP, I'm hoping Ivan will lend me a hand soon and I have more features planned.
Don't ask for an ETA please, its a lot of work.

Start 1 ROM and finish it... you've just left a string of unfinished and buggy ROMs behind you.
Search PACrom in neo or ray forum... that would be a fantastic ROM to port. It has CM PA and AOKP settings in it.

[Q] Galnet MIUI - ICS Build has anyone tried?

I came across the Galnet MIUI - ICS build in Defy and Galaxy S I9000 forums
They have the MIUI build on ICS framework and have weekly builds as being published.
Would like to ask have the developers tried this version, as this also supports our lovable DHD.
Hopefully this might even allow the developer working on the ICS source in the developers forum!!!!
Never heard of galnet before! Looks like a pretty good version too.
But thanks for the heads up, downloading now and will try in the next few hours. Will post my findings when I get home =)
I have been running galmet miui for a while on my inspire runs great no problems
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using XDA App
Thanks alot for the input would try it myself.
Hope this would be something different.
Now that the MIUI team has started the ICS development and developers working on ICS source.... We are not away from ICS on our phones

AOSP is clean system. It's just how you would remove CM9 and there left only system - Android 4.0
AOKP is like CM9, almost the same, but it is more customizable than CM

I'm not sure what does it mean, but I think it might mean 'unofficial' or it means that rom is built from sources. I don't know. Correct me
In-topic: A KANG project means to take somebody else's work and put it to good use. From the word gank(ed).
Off-Topic: safariking I sent you a PM with the problems in your ROM you might want to fix in V8.
Regards
Can you change themes in AOSP with Theme Chooser? If not, then this ROM will quickly become very boring imo. Tbh, I'm looking forward to AOKP more than anything if CM9 will be abandoned.
I think the ICS theme is just fine, probably why I've stuck to CM7.2 Miracle Edition for so long.
But in all honesty I'm tired of GingerBread and just want a functional ICS with full hardware acceleration. That means no cheating with a half-***ed camera app and the ability to watch HQ YouTube videos and regular videos, period.

[Q] [POLL] CRON-CM9 or CRON-AOKP-ICS ?

Hi all,
As i see, DK is back and will be actively working on CM9 i think. So if you guys say, i could shift my rom to AOKP ics instead of cm9. The features i added in CM9 will be easy enough to add in aokp with time, Plus eternity kernel will also be same. As for existing usb tether and camera bugs, they will also be same and fixed with time.
Shall i go ahead or anyone actually does prefer cm9 over aokp??
Regards
Yasir
Definitely aokp for me. Way more customizable than cm9 and thus better IMHO.
I'm also for the AOKP version have you looked trough that camera.cpp file that I've send you?

Yes, but the Qiss team should release and give us the source tree. I mean if they share their git repo, i could easily add it to the rom and give them credits for fixing it. Other than that, i dont know how i can do it.

Good, I've made up my mind about it too.
Generally I'm seeing very low level of interest from users for ICS roms hence my motivation drops a bit. Maybe people leaving desire or maybe they don't want ICS rom.
I can also create aokp jb based on cron or spazedog repo if people want that.
Plus, I might just leave it all if its not worth the effort n time.

I don't mind what base is used as long as it's stable (ROM and GPS) and working fast.
If enryption will work than is will be great.
The widgets for mail and calendar and other things in ICS are perfect and I will stay as long as possible with the Desire and ICS.
More and More apps are going to work only on ICS and higher so then people will go to ICS.
Keep up the good work, waiting for any new version from you.

Can anyone make a general list of what extra features evervolv has?
I kinda don't want to spend extra time wiping and restoring my data if it isn't worth an upgrade from CM10.1
Last time I used Evervolv was with my Nexus One, and that was LONG TIME AGO
For example, am I able to edit the quick settings, and can I use CM themes?

Been running the nightlies on my T989D since they were first posted here, have had no issues/bugs/RRs/SODs
Only random issue I ran into is when I flashed a new kernel. Screen would randomly have a thick red outline. Went back to stock kernel, all was well.
Keep up the great work, I remember drooling over Evervolv on my HTC One V

As many of you know, I am much into building kk roms because I believe they offer a very good compromise between performance and the latest trend/features. Of course, a few common features are not working, such as:
- MMS
- Camcorder/video recording
- Screen recording
- OpenVPN (kernel issue: cannot acquire tun interface socket)
Unfortunately these issues cannot be easily fixed by me.

My favorite is oxygen ROM android 2.3.7. I'm using my desire as my main phone through the day because I'm using my nexus 5 with a wind mobile unlimited data stick plan for internet at home.
Oxygen seems to be the only ROM that feels fast enough day after day and 100% stable. After using the nexus it was feeling really slow until I tried oxygen.
All the kk Roms look nice and work good for a short bit until they get unstable. I don't think it will ever be possible to fix these issues.

My favorite rom is MildWild Stable ROM. AOSP Gingerbread. Compile from CyanogenMod
My suggestion is SlimROM (not present on vote list) but voted on LiquidSmooth as it's the only one lightweight ROM from the list (as I understood it is based on SlimROM).

Hey Desire'd folks,
Just to keep you in the loop.. I am still working on my SlimKAT experiment.. It has taken much longer than expected because I have decided to use PA's framework as a base as it appeared to me to offer the ideal base for our device in terms of purity and speed. Right now, I am adding on top Slim's features and also stuff from CM. I can't promise anything.. and I hope that my efforts bring us a working result.
In case I will get stuck with SlimKAT, I would switch over to work on a new PA release. Have you taken notice of Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 4 “Humble Huckleberry”? Is that really Desirable?
Cheers and have a nice day!
