Install BetterBatteryStats (there's a free XDA version btw) and check what apps are causing partial wakelocks and stopping your Play from going into Deep Sleep on standby

^^^^ this yes but also download juice defender from the play store. It will save u alot more battery as it switches off wifi and data while screens off. U can make ur own profiles ect. U can also set it to check for updates and sync at time intervals of your choice. Saves me much needed battery
Edit - I used dooms and mine, both had the same or near enough battery. Not sure on ur problem maybe try one of my earlier versions but im on v4 and no battery issue

found d solution i changed from lupus to doomkernel and there d high battery drain is gone maybe it was d lupus kernel v4 i dnt know
I'm on lupus v4 kernal and my battery etc is just fine, flashing baseband 36 may help aswel seen as i find that baseband better for battery performance,

How can I improve the battery life of my play with rooting? I don't want apps that kill every background app though as I may want to go back but it would be killed
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Assuming you're on a stock rom theres a couple things you can do. The easiest would be to root and use Titanium Backup to either freeze or remove the bloatware from your phone as it runs in the background and causes drain. Another would be to look into using some of the tweaks found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227269
Another option is to try running different firmwares, personally I found the older ones to give me better battery life while others found the oppisite to be true, so try a few till you find one that suits you. A more extreme approach which will yeild far better results is to unlock your bootloader allowing custom ROMs and kernels. With custom kernels you can over and underclock your phone while choosing more effecient governers (like the smartass governer). You can also undervolt your phone which will probably lead to the biggest saving. Custom ROMs can also increase or reduce your battery life, again, try a few. Personally I run at 1.5ghz on smartass, undervolted as much as possible with version 7.1.0.1 of CM7 and have great battery life. Also keep in mind the obvious tweaks such as turning off wifi, gps, 3g, brightness, etc to prolong battery life.
-EDIT- Also on older firmwares there was a problem with using "Automatic" under time and date where it would cause a lot of battery drain so you may want to turn this off if you think it might be a problem
Thanks, but I'd rather not root my phone yet. Thanks anyways

I would say update to .62 firmware it should be up for all around the world yesterday i updated my arc s to it.I was setting up the phone after (flash before the update) and i had to set up everything again and my battery is still on 70% from yesterday (im talking downloading apps, connectin accs and stuff, like 3-4h of usage and around 8h on idle while i was sleeping). My phone isnt rooted and its with stock rom and stuff
I use juice defender ultimate. It allows me to easily get a days usage out of my phone when before i barely got a day

Hi wonders
I'm using cm9 rc2 with hadi's UV kernel.
I wan to ask that why my battery from 100% to 0% in only 8 hours? I already calibrate my battery and I think v6 supercharger dosent have any changes to me, any help? I'm using lulzactive with 806mhz

That's not very right. Though you can try this, get seeders. Use BigMem or Stock Volt(if you need recording). Make sure to off GPS, its on by default not sure if you noticed. Off google syncs, and then set to 245 - 1024 or 1209. Governor you can use lulzactive or smartassV2 and as for scheduler use SIO or Zen. V6 supercharger is quite useless once you have seeders.
That settings exhausts me less than 10% in 3-4 idle hours. With either wifi or 2G internet on. Try it and share your results.
Thanks all I'll try it

Android Booster and Battery Calibration applications that can solve the problem. Android Booster is an application that will automatically succeed in clearing the memory unused applications. To change a profile Android Booster is a very good alternative. If you do not need things like wifi and sync out, for example by creating a profile is active when going out if you'd be saving the battery for you automatically shut down. Battery Calibration application once with the phone's battery status will be reset after calibration (every rom I suggest you to make changes. Reset the status of the battery gives you the real value of the use of the battery. Otherwise, you may not show the exact value).
try reducing your screen brightness
it helps alot too
U also can try calibrate battery in CWM but it takes time to reduce after calibrate. U need to wait until battery to 0% and charging it nonstop to 100%.
hi guys.. like the title said.. whats the best battery saving rom for our device? now i am using one of a kind. realy good rom btw

Screenshot from Monday AM. Please ignore the mobile network signal bar, every version of Cyanogenmod 10 I've used has the same problem where it stops logging data after about 10 - 15 hours, but my phone does pretty much always have at least 2 bars of signal where I live and work (split about 60/40 between 2G & 3G/HSDPA)
If it helps, here are the cpu states for the last 55 hours useage:

The best battery saving rom is CM9 with the older 2.6.35 kernel. So for example Arcos CM9 RC2 or RC3, the older Slimbeam ROM or this mentioned SmoothieICS. (The other two ones are just modified and themed CM9 RC2 or RC3) For even better results you need an undervolting 2.6.35 Kernel.
My battery for example lasts 3-5 days with CM9 RC2 and Arcos stock kernel. With my personal uv kernel it lasts even more.

But smoothieics claims it has deep sleep implemented xD. Any way I can get a hold if your custom kernel?

Sure. Just drop me your e-mail via PM and I will compile one with stock voltages you then can adjust with incredicontrol to your needs. It´s because my kernel is preset to extreme undervolting voltages and that might be to much undervolting for your cpu.
Btw Arcos kernel has also deep sleep implemented and all custom kernels are basing on arcos kernel, so not only SmoothieICS is going into deepsleep but all custom roms are doing it as well.

your awake time to screen on ratio suggests to me that your battery life could be far better than it currently is! download WLD or wakelock detector and see what is keeping your phone awake so frequently =). Then u can get greenify to hibernate the app when u r not actually using it =D

Unfortunately the two main culprits are K9 email and ebay, both of which are pretty important for me to have running and not in a hibernated state.
However, from the last charge on my phone I have got 2 days, 4 hours, 29 mins with 12% battery remaining - so could be worse I suppose
Thanks for the suggestion though :good:

Am on the official 4.3 getting better battery performance at the moment. Maybe it was because i rooted the 4.1.2 before?

Try this app
Deep Sleep Battery Saver Pro or Deep Sleep Battery Saver
OR
update to the new version dr ketan v6 is now available
install BBS and see which wakelocks causing the battery drain.
can you specify more detail about how fast your battery drain? any background apps is running? Some time it is depend on how user use the phone. Like me everyday i charge me phone for 1 time and my wifi is on more or less 8 hours and play some social apps. For me it is reasonable
Quick method

Quick Method :
1. Turn off data & wifi and check drain for 8 hrs. If you find its much better check individual apps that connect to internet and see which is consuming more juice.
If not :
2. Instal wakelock detector & post the screenshot here.
can u tell tha estimetad time drining the batt? before and after drketan rom
