can you tell me if the root programs you suggested in your signature trip the flash counter? if not, what steps are needed to install and get the phone rooted?

cool.. but does the snap dragon tool kit trip the flash counter?
Flashcounter can be reverted to zero using Triangle Away.
Install this file using Odin. Make sure you set this in Odin as a PDA. It will not trip the flash counter. It needs to be unzipped fist, then flash the .zip inside.

i appreciate the suggestion but i'm not going to download 500MB to my computer or phone when i can use a small file to root my phone. then use triangle away to reset the counter to zero.
Did you have issues following the instructions I provided? I told you to ask if you had any questions.
The only thing that trips the flash counter (NOT A BIG DEAL) is flashing through Odin (stock roms do not trip counter). Forget the counter is there, and have some fun with your phone.

Look in the stickies in the development section. The no tripping the flash counter method is popular, now.

It's not really a custom ROM. It's the stock firmware that's had the root files injected. The 500+ MB is just indicative of how much storage is needed for the stock firmware on the GS3. I know it's quite a hefty download but it really is the easiest way to get root. Simply flash in ODIN and your done
also if your flashing through Odin(and this process is through Odin), that going to be on your computer, not your phone, so you should probably just down load to comp and not through the phone.

hey guys... is it possible to just root my galaxy s3 thru any process.. then use an app called, 'Trangle Away' to reset the counter?
To answer your question, yes. But don't use Triangle Away unless you need it (ie. warranty replacement, etc.)
I am currently on the aokp rom and i need to sell the phone and wipe everything on the phone. I cant seem to find a guide that does this perfectly. Ideally I would like to return to 100% stock as if the phone is brand new out of the box.
Any suggestions?

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665 and follow the instructions - watch the video from wwjoshdew and it's super easy. Get a stock rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 - this thread also provides instructions on how to revert back to stock.
You could always sell the phone the way it is - the aokp rom is a definite feature..

Yea but i think the average person is going to be like wtf is this. Most people don't know about custom roms and phones. (at least i dont think they do)
So i flashed the stock firmware and it keeps hanging at the samsung boot screen it does the att boot animation then gets stuck at the samsung one.
I put the md5 fild in the pda box on odin. thats correct right?
I'm trying to download the file from another mirror maybe i got a corrupt download.

No, just pull the battery and reboot into recovery. Do a wipe data/factory reset then reboot and you should be good to go.

Ok everyone, I am new to all of this..so i hope I dont sound stupid.
I have a Sprint Galaxy s3, and the person I got it from has rooted it and installed a custom rom, etc. I would like to go back to what it was when it was first out of the box, or the stock rom. I am afraid of bricking the phone, as I have never done this before. I am assuming there is a forum post on here with exact instructions on how to do this. Can anyone point me there, or help me out? Thanks in advance!

Yes I would probably do this.
Watching the video now, and following the instructions to click on the links he says to..but when i click on them..it says page not found, on everyone of them.
I agree with Giantjay, it's always a good idea to get as much info as possible before doing anything. Read, read, watch the video, read more, ask questions.
So i found the Odin download, now my question is..where do i download the right TAR file.

Thanks CNexus!!!!!!
I'll be waiting patiently.......I have a screwed up OTA to fix on the wife's phone.
Thanks for the hard work.
Now that someone with development skill has their hands on the tar which we've all been waiting for, what's the possibility of finding out how to remove Knox from the bootloader for those that have Knox at the bootloader level?
I talked to a Samsung sales rep at Best Buy today about Knox being forced down on individual consumers and he acted if he could care less about the whole situation. I told him I've been a long time Samsung customer and I'm debating on jumping ship, he just looked at me and said "If that's what you feel you have to do then do it”
I understand hes just the Samsung sales rep, you'd think he'd still care about customers buying Samsung... Guess one person leaving isn't such a big deal to him. Okay thanks for reading..
@CNexus: Thank you for all your hard work and determination, I appreciate you as I'm sure everyone else does here too..

That's great! Thank you again.
One last question from me, when you modify the tar will it be Knox boot loader free? I am currently enjoying your work by using the MK3 ROM you've provided to us
Thanks again.. I'll stop bothering now
Thanks for the upload!!! I can now stop spamming my update settings on my phone now I think! I appreciate the detailed instructions about Knox and what not. The newbie in me just wanted to make sure before I proceed with the flash, if I'm fully stocked on MD4 and I use the MK3 tar that was provided, it will essentially be the same as waiting for the OTA update on my phone? I wanted to make sure because Knox scares me and I don't want to trip the counter if I don't need to. I understand that once I have Knox, anything I do to my phone after will trip the counter. Thanks for taking the time to address my questions although I've tried looking in the comments and was not able to find an answer.
I'm still on 4.0.4 (Haven't updated in some ages lol) Can I go straight to this? Or do I have to go through each update individually?
Thanks for all the insane dedication CNexus....is or will there be an MK3 modem only tar in the future?

It would have to be an Odin flashable file as no custom recovery for att, and the locked bootloader would reject the tar file.
