Ok everyone, I am new to all of this..so i hope I dont sound stupid.
I have a Sprint Galaxy s3, and the person I got it from has rooted it and installed a custom rom, etc. I would like to go back to what it was when it was first out of the box, or the stock rom. I am afraid of bricking the phone, as I have never done this before. I am assuming there is a forum post on here with exact instructions on how to do this. Can anyone point me there, or help me out? Thanks in advance!

Yes I would probably do this.
Watching the video now, and following the instructions to click on the links he says to..but when i click on them..it says page not found, on everyone of them.
I agree with Giantjay, it's always a good idea to get as much info as possible before doing anything. Read, read, watch the video, read more, ask questions.
So i found the Odin download, now my question is..where do i download the right TAR file.

I would do the triangle away found here before you unroot http://qbking77.com/how-to-unroot/unroot-unbrick-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/
Thanks for the help! Kinda nervous, but going to try this.

Thank you!
If you have access to Odin i'd recommend flashing over one of the pre-rooted packages.
You can use the ie22 GB rooting method according to Qbking77, and that way you won't need to ODIN or flash anything and lose your data.
Also next time post in Q & A so you don't get flamed

This is all I've been able to figure out. If you go to the one click root stickied post it links to a gingerbreak post that has a bunch of people posting that the gingerbreak method doesn't work for OTA upgrades.

The odin method does work... you have to odin a custom kernel to make cwm stick... then flash cwm with odin... then flash su.zip via cwm...

Honestly, since Rodderik responded to you in the one click root method thread, I would use the thread he linked you. You can't go wrong with anything he says, and Qbking's videos are always spot on as well. To be safe, I would do one of those. Back up all your apps and your homescreens and go from there.

But then someone else said it will not work in that same thread he linked me to so that confused me. This is my husband's phone i was asked to root so I dont want to mess it up.
Rodderik is one of the best Dev's we have. Ask for clarification or PM him if you want, but if it was me, that's what I would do.

I am told that I am in download mode, but my phone will not boot, it will not move past this screen, and I do not seem to be able to do anything with it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do from this point. I am willing to flash the stock rom to it, but it's not responding. If you have any links for instructions on flashing the rom, please, let me know...
It's the Sprint Galaxy Nexus.
Download Mode = ODIN Flasher look into that, but please do be careful. ODIN can do more harm than good if not used correctly.

I have searched on that, do you have any suggestions on where I need to look, or what I need to look for as far as instructions to properly make this work? I just want to make it work. Yep. I had that screen before...all you have to do is js follow the link mentioned above..you'll be fine. Thought I was dead when I seen that screen, took it into sprint corporate store and they seemed suspicious so I js read up on it and fixed it myself..as long as your computer cld still read the phone, js run the original files posted in shabbys thread using Odin and you'll get everything back to stock. And start fresh

Flashcounter can be reverted to zero using Triangle Away.
Install this file using Odin. Make sure you set this in Odin as a PDA. It will not trip the flash counter. It needs to be unzipped fist, then flash the .zip inside.

i appreciate the suggestion but i'm not going to download 500MB to my computer or phone when i can use a small file to root my phone. then use triangle away to reset the counter to zero.
Did you have issues following the instructions I provided? I told you to ask if you had any questions.
The only thing that trips the flash counter (NOT A BIG DEAL) is flashing through Odin (stock roms do not trip counter). Forget the counter is there, and have some fun with your phone.

If you're not worried about data loss but don't want root, I'd download the Odin flashable 100% stock MDL tar from this thread.... and obviously flash via Odin. That would leave you at 100% stock state with the latest T-Mobile MDL firmware.
If you plan on rooting and flashing custom stuff anyway, just follow this guide. After that, you'll have root and a custom recovery from which you could flash any of the modified/stock TouchWiz ROMs or CyanogenMod or whatever other ROMs you wish.

Hello all! I've been on the s3 forever and just now swapped for the gn2. It looks to be stock mc2, and I'm am having a hell of a time getting root. Might anyone be able to point me to the files I need to flash in odin? I tried the note 2 toolkit but kept getting errors when loading the kit itself, tried 3 different installs. I have the drivers, and the latest twrp .tar, but unsure what else I need and cant really find anything directly pertaining to the sprint version on this. Thank you, all help much appreciated!
If you have TWRP in the correct tar format, you could just flash that in Odin by putting it in the PDA slot. Or to gain root access first, try cf auto root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956180.
