Hey all,
Just bought a brand new Nexus today which I updated to Jelly Bean. Probably the best Android phone EVER! I am coming from Galaxy ACE forums, I also own ACE 2. Things for those two phones are pretty specific...only one way to root your phone. Here I find so many guides that I really don't know what to choose. So can someone specify the safest way for rooting GSM version on Windows? Thanks! :good:

okay so im getting the sprint galaxy nexus soon and i just want to clarify a few things first off being rooting.
Rooting:
can you root the sprint galaxy nexus with (Galaxy Nexus Tool-Kit 5.7) and treat it as the CDMA/LTE model. in my mind it seems like this would work because it is a cdma/lte model but i just want to clarify that so i dont brick it.
Roms:
from my understanding the verizon roms cant be flashed on the sprint version because it will cause it to not beable to make calls is this accurate and if so i really think XDA needs to add a third development section for sprint so everyone doesnt become confused as i am already and i have a decent understanding of these things as i have had the evo and evo3d and rooted both with no problems
please xda make a third development section for the sprint GNEX
Hi there,
I purchased a HTC One X to be severely disappointed that there is no root available for my version, and that there may never be one.
I was wondering the root status of the AT&T Galaxy S III. Can all versions be rooted right now?
Thanks
Yes, all of versions can be rooted. I was currently on the AT&T 1747UCLH9 and got mine rooted.
Currently running CM10 Nightlies and loving every moment.

Just go to the development forum. There is a thread just for rooting from stock and such. You'll be in good hands.

Ya gotta read around here more. We have a WIP build here in our dev section. Good rule of thumb is if you don't really know your way around then its best to stay in your own backyard..ie the att note II forum . Were here to help!

Best advice ever. I recommend lurking a bit here for a few days, maybe a week, to really learn as much as possible. It may seem daunting at first, but it is totally worth it. I'm a recovering flash addict myself, but we do have CM10 in the works and like you, I'm very excited! If you would like, PM me or something and I'll help intro you a bit to XDA.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the Galaxy Nexus forum and I'm trying to figure out if roms such as the ones found in Android Development would be compatible with our Sprint GNEX ? Well I've noticed most roms are for GSM or VZW GNEX. :banghead: & ahead of time thank you for your reply ! Happy flashing !

There is a specific sub forum called sprint galaxy nexus android development. All ROMs in there are compatible.

Yes i was aware of such thread, but muy question is can we use any roms besides those ? Such as Roms in the general android development section. Thanks.

Only if they're stated as being compatible for the Toro+ (Sprint GNex). Kernels can be used across devices, but watch out for 4.2.2 kernels if your not on a 4.2.2 ROM
Thank you, much appreciated !

I currently have a HTC One and am thinking about selling it, pocketing most of the money and getting the Galaxy nexus. I really really want a stable AOSP build and the HTC one simply does not have one yet. What are your guy's opinion on making this switch? and how are the ROMS and Kernals for you guys?

Well since the One is better than the Nexus it would be a easy disicion for me. I think since the play store version is released the builds will come in in no time. I think it is only a matter of time before the aosp custom roms will come. The Galaxy Nexus has awesome kernel and ROM support since it is a Nexus phone. Some developers are leaving for the Nexus 4 but this phone is stille alive and there is plenty of development going on.

Read the rom/kernel Dev threads and see the comments. I suggest you wait, new nexus coming out. Meditate before coming back to the light (aka lite) side of the Force.

Why the galaxy nexus? Unless your on Verizon id go with the nexus 4 its about the same as the one.
I have a old Verizon gnex. Its super laggy on 4.2.2 I would reccomend faux kernel on 4.1.2 that is pretty fast
