i have seen a bluish tint on my screen :/ i dont have insurance on my phone so i read that there is a way to get rid of it with a custom kernel i want to see if there's people with this problem fixed and how they fixed it?
I wouldn't think a kernel could solve this, it's a hardware related problem, not software. I've never heard of a blue tint per se, most commonly it's a yellow tint, but chances are it's a side effect of having an amoled panel. The technology in itself still is improving so this like this do happen to some phones. I believe it's a good trade off to have, admitted as amoled panels look so nice next to lcd led. If you've had your phone less than a year you can take it in for a replacement as it's under warranty

Lol i just said it's not a software issue, it's a hardware problem. If you've had your phone less than a year than I would take it in and get a replacement if the tint is really that bad

heh. I had a blue tint on my screen... after I dropped it sends broke the led screen...
of course I know me, so I have best buy insurance.
if it hasn't been dropped, unless you got you're phone on launch day you should bee able to take it back.
the problem trying to fix it with software, problems like that will just keep getting worse. take it back before your year does run out.

To those who had an AMOLED screen (hardware version 002) and issued a replacement from Verizon:
Did they give you an AMOLED phone?
If so, how recent was this?
Also, did it have any issues?
Was it refurbished, or certified like-new?
I may have to look at getting my Inc replaced, but I sure as hell won't do it if I get an SLCD.
I just got my replace like 8 days ago.. I got a certified like new one... the only problem that I have is that I have no clue how to find out if I have a sLcd or a Amoled.. I know it should have a 002 number under the battery but honestly I dont see that in mine...
hope my info helps...
Note: I just check and I got a Amoled 002...

When I got my replacement last month they gave me another amoled. To be honest though, the colors sucked, white had a yellowish tint. Nothing a little calibration couldn't fix however.
I've had four of them replaced, all for blown speakers. The last two I asked them for an amoled. If you ask, they will send you which ever one you want.

I don't mean to hijack, but how do you calibrate the color of the screen? The last two replacements I got have had a yellow screen and it seems to have gotten better, but I think I just got used to it.
EDIT: to add useful info, I have had 3 replacements since last April, the most recent one being last week and all were amoled screens. My wife had one replaced too and it was also an amoled.
I had mine replaced a few weeks ago, and it's an AMOLED. I haven't had the color tint issues, but my power button is a little sketchy. :/
I also can't sign into Peep on this phone when running Skyraider, but my old phone didn't have problems with it. It doesn't seem like it'd be a hardware problem, but it's the only difference I can think of.
Alright, seems safe to get a refurb now. Thanks guys.
And I assume they're all refurbished units by now instead of certified like-new, whatever the difference would be.

There's not a difference. It's either that or you send yours back to HTC to have them repair/refurbish YOUR phone and wait for whatever their turnover period is to get it back to you. There might not even be any history on the replacement you got at all so stop worrying about whether it's refurbished or not.
Second point, if you originally purchased an AMOLED unit, and you need a replacement you will receive another AMOLED. If you purchased an SLCD version you'll get an SLCD replacement. We have different SKU's for both that are automatically populated in the order system.

Here is the thread I found it in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745248
I can only vouch for ASOP however, I don't use a Sense rom so haven't tested it. Just download and flash calibrated-signed-42-Universal.zip. Then boot up and install Calibrator-5.1-Universal.apk. When you run that, you should be able to change each color calibration. It's pretty amazing, I was thrilled when I finally found it.
Got my replacement today.
Works perfectly. Also, it is AMOLED. Screen isn't "washed out" or anything either.
*edit*
Well, ****. It has ONE dead/permanently blue/cyan pixel in the middle of the bottom half of the screen.
I just picked up this phone from a guy through local classifieds and I've noticed that it has a really noticeable yellow tint to it when I look at it straight on.
If I hold it at any angle it looks fine. What could be causing this and is there anything I can do about it?
As far as I heard it's an issue with the oled screens in general. Something about the organic compound or what not. But your not alone a good amount of people get it. Maybe do what the quote below is suggesting.

My E4GT has a bit of a blue tint. Downloaded an app called "Screen Adjuster". It's basically a RGB adjuster just like on your LCD tvs. You can even widget it to have a quick on/off feature from your home page.

Take it in to a Sprint store. At worst it will cost you 35$ to get it fixed.
It could be burn in, or a bad oled.

They can't fix a shattered screen. But if its just a problem with the oled screen they might be able to do it, or at least set you up with a replacement. They don't do shattered screens because it can cut the techs.

I'll call them in a few minutes and let you know what I find out.
I just got back from the sprint corporate store and they told me that there was nothing they would do for me.
they told me that every phone does it. That is a complete lie. Even their f****** displays did not do this.
they told me that it does not affect the functionality of the phone so they would not replace it or even work on it.
I can't even really describe how pissed off I am right now
Put out the word to anyone with a working E4GT who only uses it to dev and see if they'll swap it out. Can't hurt to ask.
I just got off the phone with Sprint (*2) and told them what the little prick was saying to me at the store and they put in a work order so I can take it to a different store and most likely get a replacement. I won't be able to go up there until tomorrow so we shall see what happens.
I wound up selling it and going back to the GNex... where I'm suffering with battery life problems.
I have honestly not been satisfied with any Android phone except the EVO and the Nexus One :-(
Guys, over the past few days I have noticed at the foot of the screen in the centre there is a yellow line (approx 1 to 2mm thickness) appearing which looks very much like screen burn.
It can only be seen when a lighter colour is present but it is there no matter what you are looking at.
When watching movies it is horrendous as your eyes are constantly drawn to the yellow thick line.
Question being has anyone else noticed this?
Sounds like a faulty panel to me

Impossible to see if you do a screen grab. The grab would not show the screen burn.
The only way to do it is to take a photo of the G3's screen and I don't have another camera at hand with me this weekend.

No, it's nothing like a dead pixel.
It's more like a yellow stain that progressively gets darker the longer the screen is left on.
I contacted Clove who would send it back to LG for them to look at.
In the meantime if I change the Home a Touch Buttons to Black it covers up the Yellow stain whenever a screen uses the touch buttons.
It's when you are either looking at photos, watching movies or playing games where you don't have touch buttons displayed that you see it.

I have had this on devices in the past, its certainly a faulty screen.
Yes, I definitely agree on that.
Okay I should return it for repair but I would find it murder to be without the phone.
So far it is limited to the area of the touch buttons and like I mention if I change to black you then don't see it a lot of the time.
I'm seeing if I can live with it..........

Just as a warning, when I have had this on devices in the past it is something that gets worse over time, the yellow area will spread, its probably worthwhile getting it fixed now to avoid having it become a bigger problem in the future.
Have you spoke to clove yet? Surely they might just swap it out rather than force you to get a repair?

Yes I spoke with Clove and was quite surprised they would send it back for repair.
At the time I had had the G3 for 18 days.
As such seeing as being without the phone is going to be a nightmare and it's not spreading or getting worse for the time being, I'm mulling over my options.
Fortunately money is not a problem. If it gets that bad I would rather buy another and set up the new G3 in the presence of the faulty G3 then either give the faulty one away to a member of the family which I do with all of my phones and let them decide what to do....
I have the exact same problem. Found this thread googling for it. It's almost right in the bottom center. Looks yellowish and it's driving me nuts. I'll probably hold off exchanging for a while since I cannot afford to go without a phone and have no way to backup everything until someone unlocks the boot loader.

Well, if it's any help to you all I can tell you is it doesn't appear to get any worse.
Yes it's there and more prominant when it gets hotter but it doesn't appear to be spreading or going darker.
At the moment I am still living with it.
I recently got a new lcd and Digitizer for my Galaxy s3 and now everything that is supposed to be gray has green tint to it. I fixed the problem though with cyanogenmod's screen calibration under display and lights in the settings. I wanted to know what is causing this problem and maybe if someone could find an app to change the screen gamma.
If the colors are not correct while on stock touchwiz, Id say theres something wrong with the display. If so, you should probably consider contacting the seller and ask for a replacement.
If it is damaged already or if its a factory defect, chances are itll get worse over time. And even if it doesn't, itll greatly affect the resale value should you ever decide to sell it.
has anyone ever heard of this before? amoled burn-in just 6 days after purchase. i do not play intensive games nor have it running without any protection such as a case and a screen protector. never dropped it. how is this even possible? not sure the photos are doing justice but u can see the AOD function burnt onto the screen with the two circles and the digital clock counter. asked nubia and the only thing they can say is send it back to their service center and nothing more can be done. as i am using it as my daily driver, is there any way of fixing it without sending it? or i am pretty much screwed and should just ask for a refund?
I can't see it. Use ScreenTest to view it better. If you can see it send it back. Defective display.

I see that. Thats really strange and unfortunate. I personally like ips for this reason but i do not think you can do anything about that. Thats a physical wear.
