Thanks for your input laraiza, I've tried everything. I have everything set up perfectly would hate to reset and reflash. I also posted my question in the general Q&A Page, so going to wait for a response back before I wipe, and reflash. Because man it's such a drag when you have to reflash when you have everything set up to your liking. But I guess that comes with rooting your phone, & flashing ROMS and all that comes with it. This is the 3rd time this problem occurred with me. From time to time the other issues is Google gapps stopping but that's no biggie I just reflash gapps.

Wiping /cache and /dalvik isn't the same as wiping /data (ie Factory Reset) or reflashing the ROM from scratch. Chances are you have some "ghost" that is affecting your phone.apk. Did you theme anything by chance?
Whatever recovery you are using, just wipe /cache and then go to advanced and wipe /dalvik and once that is done, still in advanced you can fix permissions. Reboot. The reboot will take longer and after the splash screen, you'll be greeted with a blue/grey box stating that it is updating your app. This is the /dalvik cache being rebuilt cleanly.
Try that and let us know. If not, then you can open settings>manage>find phone.apk and clear data and cache and that shoudl work too. But try the /cache and /dalvik method first.

Ok followed all the prosidures...
No go for me. Thank you for all your help. Looks like I'm going to have to reflash, but I'm not going to forget to back everything up threw titanium, and my backup pro.
Question after I reflash do I restore system also or just data? Oh and the last thing I can remember doing was adding a home page, and draging some icons to a different page.
Thanks again
Michael.

Well if you restore, then you are just going to restore the bug whether it is in /system or /data or both.
If you are going to reflash, then I would say Odin to stock to get the "cleanest" pallet, then flash the ROM and only restore via Titanium (remember no restoring /system apps in TiB).

Ok I am familiar with odin, but how do I do so and what files do I need? To load in the pda, or pit? How do I odin to stock?
Thanks
Michael.

No Pit file, just PDA. If you are going to be reflashing Wicked, I would find the stock ROM file that is LG1 (which is what Wicked is based off) or the build before that.
If you do the one before LG1 (not sure off hand which it is), then root it, use OTA Rootkeeper to keep root (I know, I know redundencies) but temp unroot, accept OTA, reboot and the open OTA RK and restore root. Then you should be on LG1 hopefully and you can then Odin a recovery and flash a fresh Wicked and then start restoring some apps with Titanium. Upon first boot, don't let Google restore your apps.
I know it seems like a lot, but you can get it all done in less than an hour and know that you have a squeaky clean install.
I'm off for now but will check in on you later on tonight. Wifey is sick, so the Wood is on kids-keeping-quiet duty.

insufficient storage available

I had put on CR_Mod_1.35.531_OTA Full ROM with add on it ran fine. I tried a different one did didnt like it. I went back but now can't download anything from the market I get the insufficient storage available, installation unsuccessful. I wiped but did not do the wipe factory reset for fear of not sure if it would get rid of my root. What should I do I have retried several times.
Reflash the rom you are trying to install, this time do a wipe/factory restore within clockwork. You will not lose root.
Edit1: Only time you shouldn't have to wipe is when your flashing an update of the current rom your using. Keep in mind if its a major update, they recommend you do wipe. Another thing I recommend is doing nandroid backups of the roms your using, it really makes life easier backs up EVERYTHING so if you ever have to go back all you have to do is a nandroid restore, search the forums you'll find how to do it. Hope this information helps.

I did a wipe/factory restore put on a working rom but still have the same problem
Did you try wiping cache? Its the option below wipe/factory restore in Clockwork.
Also, make sure your /system, /data & /cache partitions are mounted when in Clockwork, if not anything you do will not be applied. (This includes flashing roms)

[Q] ClockworkMod 3.0.0.5 not fully wiping?

i posted this in the Q&A but was brought to my attention that it might need to be here.
MustacheFart10 said:
I upgraded to the latest clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 and when I switch ROMs, I notice some of my item's are still "cached". For example, I was using Evervolv and then did a wipe of data, cache, and davlik, and flashed the RC1 for CM7. GApps are not packaged with either of these ROMs but when I booted up CM7 for the first time after flashing, GApps are installed, without me doing so. Is there an issue with the latest version of deleting cache or am I not doing enough wiping?

Ya I agree. I notices after wiping from nightly 38 to Cm7 RC1 all my settings and SMS and so on were still there. Odd...
Sent from God, who uses CM7 RC1.
It hasn't been fully wiping for me either. I've tried the setting from within ROM Manager as well as booting into recovering and manually telling it to wipe it. I also can't seem to back 3.0.0.5 out either.
the google backup service will restore some apps if you have it enabled in settings. by default it is enabled. this may be whats happening after your wipe.
I cant explain smokeey's sms messages tho
I understand google backup services but that would imply you have GApps installed, which shouldn't be after a full wipe and flash of new rom

good luck, i haven't had any issues with 3.0.0.5... yet
I've run into some issues as well. Went from Evervolv to my CM7 backup and when I restored the nandroid for CM7 the status bar was totally gone lol.
Google Apps are stored in /system/app. Wiping /data and /cache won't erase them.
With CWM, it's best to go into Mounts & Storage, and format system there. Then flash the ROM.

That makes sense, I noticed that whenever a rom developer says that the wipe is scripted into the install or update that, that is what it does is format the mounts first.

I can't get the Warm Two Point Two rom to flash since I upgraded. Even after flashing other recoveries (2.5.1.2, and 2.5.1.8) I still have problems flashing other roms.
I went back to 2.5.1.2 from 3.0.0.5 I notice little "gliches" with the 3.0.0.5 that didnt make it worth the upgrade. on a side note. Evervolv rocks!!! lol

Do you usually do the format boot, system, data, cache, and then go and wipe data, cache, and davlik? I did the format from the mount & storage and it still kept my home screen options...

Go into recovery and do a Factory Reset which will format system, cache and data.. Then install the ROM via the install zip file option and you should be good to go.
I have been having that problem also. I was running MIUI and I wiped everything as usual and flashed Liguid Metal and MIUI backup, music, and gallery were all still in my apps list. So I wiped and flashed again, but they were still there and I was unable to uninstall them.
I ended going back to an older version of CWM so i could try a few other ROMs because there are still a many that are incompatible.
Can someone please pm me with a link to where I can find an older version of CWM recovery. I am having issues as well.

That's the problem is that doesn't work. I found that doing the formats in mount and storage that I listed above and then wiping data, cache, and davlik solved my issues.

[Q] Best Way to get Super Wiped?

I tried a ROM update today (Magnolia) and my phone is now seriously slow (including SpeedTest which shows about 50Kbps download speed). I attempted to reinstall the same ROM and to restore a Nandroid (neither of which has helped). I did every wipe present in CWM v2.5.1.2 (I know v3.x.x.x is not a good wiper) and in HBOOT, also all to no avail.
It is possible that the ROM is focused on carefully updating itself rather than completely overwriting.
Does anyone have a recommendation as to the best way to really ensure that no old runaway processes are surviving the flashes (ROM or Nandroid)? I am wondering if flashing another ROM would do it (it wouldn't try to update), but am very open to suggestions.
Thanks!
I had the same problem when I would install a rom with the CW 3.0.0.8 and it will just update the current rom, and not do a full wipe like I just to get before with the CW 2.x.x.x what I have done to get a clean install is this...
- I dont use the Rom Manager no more to update...
- Boot into Recovery and do the Following before you install a new Rom..
1-) Wipe Data/ Factory Reset
2-) Wipe Cache Partition
3-) Install the Rom .Zip with CW
Thats how I have done it before hope it helps...
Dont use rom manager to install go into recovery. Do a factory reset twice, then goto mounts and storage and format manually, data, cache, system, boot. Do that twice or more and youre super wiped as you put it. But as far as magnolia goes...did you make sure that you dl'd the flashover and not the whole rom?

Pete - Thanks. I never use RomManager to do ANYTHING (and remain surprised that people do). I do factory reset and wipe in CWM but never formatted system; which I just posted in the Magnolia forum as being what I thought is causing all the trouble. At least this lets me know how to manually do it. Thanks

Random crashes after restoring to backup.

I had flashed Warm TwoPointThree. Didn't really like it so I restored to my nandroid back up. Now the phone randomly crashes for no apparent reason. It is sitting next to me on my desk and just now it crashed, wasn't even touching it. Secondary to the crashes is that after it happen and I try to report the phone is registering no charge and then immediately shuts down till I put it on a charger, regardless of actual battery charge.
Edit
More info. It has never crashed while on the charger. Don't know if that is relevant.
Did you wipe properly prior to restoring your nandroid? Also, what recovery are you using? If it's not Amon-ra, you need to get it! Make sure when doing a nandroid restore you have the appropriate items checked for restore (Assuming you did this when making the nandroid to begin with). Usually Boot, System, Data, and SD ext if partitioned.
Im using Amon-ra and I have an unpartitioned SD card. What do you mean by wipe? I'm a new to the entire rooting thing.
You need to wipe all data factory reset, boot, system, and dalvik cache in recovery three times each. Then restore your nandroid. You can also use a superwipe script but I feel manually wiping them is best.

I think I may have found a problem with the backup I was using. For some reason the backup file had 2 copies of every entry.
Under the other tad in RA recovery there was options to fix apk uid mismatches and move recovery.log to SD.
I selected the fix apk uid mismatches. Im hoping that is the fix permissions that the previous poster was talking about. If not then can I get some direction in doing it properly?

Yes that's it.
Well the crashes have started again. They seem to start slow, one crash then like 3 days later another and then just increase in frequency, today it crashed 5 times before noon. I'm at the point that I think perhaps I need to wipe and not attempt to do a restore. My concern is will I lose my root if I do that?

If you wipe without restoring, you won't have a ROM on your device. You'll have to flash one, and as long as it's a custom or rooted stock ROM, you'll be fine.
Well I did a factory reset tonight so we'll see how that goes. Thanks to those people who contributed.
Well I did the factory reset and this morning it crashed again. I'm at a loss. All this started after I installed the Warm 2.3 ROM and then restored back to a backup to get the stock ROM back. Any thoughts on what to try now?

Just stop restoring and flash a ROM from scratch. Do a full wipe (everything except SD card), and then flash the ROM (custom or stock) or your choice. It seems that the restore is at the root of your problem, so it may be time to give up on that.

Try wiping in recovery by flashing Edify_Format_ALL (found on xda). I manually wipe Dalvik, habit... Flash rom from scratch. I use Titanium Backup to back up apps and data just for these situations. Some caches are moved to SD card, maybe delete these folders and let system rebuild them. (ie android_secure).
Hope you get it sorted out.

Aroma Installer Keeps Freezing

This is getting quite annoying. I am currently on Omega rom but when I attempt to install another rom I can never install it. Aroma installer keeps freezing after 1 or 2 choices. It's driving me crazy. Any other have this problem?
which rom do you have currently ?
maybe try hashing the rom to check if it isn't corrupt.
at what point does it hang?

I'm currently on Omega rom.. But I'm having the same issue with attempting a reinstall with Omega as well. I tap "next" a time or two through options such as whether or not I want to back up my EFS folder and what kernel I want, etc. After 1 or 2 choices.. It freezes.. Everytime!
Read everything before doing anything
Step1-as i said first of all try hashing the file. if it's correct then try next step.
Step2-do a nandroid backup before this.
then try doing factory reset, then clear cache, then clear dalvik cache, then clear system partition.
this will delete alllll the data on your phone a-z.
do NOT clear sdcard or you will be romless.
if the problem still persists then try next step.
Step3-
maybe copy rom to external sdcard after formatting it.
then formatting scard and then trying.
make sure to have a nand and efs backup and odin flashable stock rom before doing all this
Which recovery do you have? :highfive:
