iGo Primo 2.0 problems - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi all, hoping someone can give me some insight on this, I've searched til my eyes have bled, tried countless sys.txt changes, etc. etc. to no avail.
I've got iGo loaded and "working", but whenever I'm actually on a drive, I have 2 issues. The voice stutters like crazy, and it keeps going to "Autodetecting GPS receiver", then "Looking for GPS signal". At first it reacquires pretty quickly, but as time goes on, it's in a constant loop and becomes almost unusable.
I believe the [gps] section of sys.txt is correct -

But I'm wondering if maybe it's a conflict with my Bluetooth headset. When I'm testing at home, it's usually just through the speaker, but on the road I usually can't hear it well due to road noise, the radio, people talking or whatever. My hearing isn't what it used to be. Anyway, I guess I could try it without it but ultimately I need it to work through the headset. How could I check?

Hrm. I guess this app does run on WinMo - last I used iGO was version 8, and it was OK - but didn't always run perfectly smoothly.
I'm actually surprised the newest flagship product runs on WinMo, let alone a RHOD! Have you checked RAM usage etc while it's running? Perhaps you need to disable Sense or anything else on WinMo to ensure the phone is focused on the iGO app.

There are lots of Win CE 5/6 GPS navigators being shipped with some version of Igo. Check out the specs on some of those bad boys... The worst of them only have 64mb of RAM and 400mHz cores (...of course designed for the specific task of GPS Nav). I think it is thanks to this user group we WM users still benefit!
I had Primo 2.0 working pretty well, though it was a little too laggy as far as my actual position compared to Igo 8, so I have gone back to that version and it works great. (except for when I was in Detroit, but I'll admit, there may have been some degree of operator error in that instance)

I guess I deleted my sys.txt from primo 2 but I am pretty sure that I had the same settings as I have for Igo 8 which is only:
[GPS]
port=4
baud=57600
Those settings get me solid/stable GPS fixes.
As for your other issue about the audio stuttering I dunno, you could be right about the BT. I was never able to get the TTS voices working on primo 2 so you are already ahead of me in that regard. Maybe that is the problem though, the TTS engine itself is causing the audio to degrade. You could try a normal (non text-to-speech) voice and see if the skipping goes away.... although for me the announced street names would be one of the top features and I wouldn't want to give it up.

This doesn't fix your problem, but, but have you tried Waze? I like it for the most part, and it has a decent voice. It is free too, so no loss in trying it out.

I have the same problem with "looking for gps signal" then "Autodetecting GPS receiver" with Primo 2.0
I have tried so many changes in sys.txt to avoid any trouble with some configurations, but still problems with unstable GPS fix.
Whereas on Igo 8.5, with the same maps, i have no problem with the same [gps] configuration.

Soooo what's wrong with using iGO 8?
That really seems to be the theme in this entire thread, and I kinda started it. iGO Primo 2.0 is just too much for our tired old phones. Stick with iGO8, it works fine.

May be you're right, i'm too attracted by the latest version :angel:

It's unusable primo on desire hd the GPS lag is so bad you just get lost. It's either miles ahead or the wrong place, losing signal.
I only wanted it for the online tmc.

Hi i have also problem with igo 2.0. First i had a problem when i start igo it freeze,(when i touch the screen only buttons start to flash), so i had to restart the phone and start igo again. But now i cant even finish setup, after few steps it freeze again and i have to force close app.,,,,,... I had no problem with igo 8. I root my phone and put neat lite rom

I have an Alcatel ot-995 .. install the igo primo 2.0 - starts the first icon and stops at the one fourth of the bar! goes off

can you please tell me, how did you manage the extended soft bar with informations from status bar?
I also have nexus 7, and I saw on your web site, on the picture example for assimetric projection, that you have this system bar, but with lots of good informations...

can i change which screen loads first from the sys.txt?

Hi. Have following problem. Coming up to junction, I get the junction view come up ( see pic) all black with just street numbers no it. Have junction view is turned on. Anyone know how to correct this. Maybe in system.text?

HTC One M8 - 3D Problem
Hi
I'm not a total iGO noob and been using it for a few years on HTC HD2 but now have a really annoying problem.
Just got a HTC One M8 (European) and rooted immediately plus gave SD card write access.
First thing I did was install iGO the usual way and add all the content.
When I'm in default 3D mode, the screen starts 'blinking' after a while. The route and the roads start to disappear and the terrain starts taking over the screen, so that for example it will be all green, the same as the fields. The whole screen starts flashing. This is happening on default scheme/skin or any other HD compatible skin. Meanwhile, the voice and the directions are still all ok.
A couple of times I've got a error message saying "memory is low, use different route options", but that's only a couple of times. Remember, this is a phone with bags of memory and no other apps.
I have tried with the moveable thin apks that I can move to SD with all the content, and have tried every other version of iGO apk with all the iGO folders on the internal memory.
I believe the data.zip is I believe a 1920x1080 HD file and I have tried starting with and without Branding files.
I have and have made every change I can to sys.txt.
Obviously I delete the Save folder every time.
Please, anyone...HELP!

most from my Problem was fixed after but i have a new one now
I copy the speedcam.txt on folder -> /content/spedcam. check folder iGO8 convert that -> ok
I can see the speed cams on maps but iG08 don't warn me.
I copy the audio files to -> igo8/audio but see only the pictures on navi and don't warning tones. Is my sys.txt wrong? or missing any audio oder voice files?

You only get an audible warning if you're going over the speed limit I think.
The warnings are in the "Speed Camera" settings page. This page however only appears when there is a GPS lock.

i been searching and found that the version you are using is the only version that i could use with the jensen nav101 and i was wondering if you or anybody could tell me exactly how to install this or point me to the right spot to find this cause i tried every thing and only getting the message "program database cannot be found"

[REF] Understanding iGo 8's SYS.TXT!

guys, please, read with full attention, this can help us all.
what about we working together to explain each of the lines in the sys.txt, some of them are self-explanatory but most of them aren't.
this would be extremely helpful for newbies and not-too-newbies.
the reason is that i realized that everytime someone posts a new sys.txt people will try it and in the process, some features that were enabled previously will disappear or something new will come up that will get us freaking out. specially because it seems that every new sys.txt posted here has a bunch of new parameters.
everyone wants the best settings to suit their needs and the best is if they could achieve that themselves by knowing what they are doing.
i'd like everyone to contribute, don't be afraid to be wrong, try and if it's not right someone else will fix. just copy, paste and edit the bottom sys.txt with the explanation of each line really replacing the ;???????????? for what you think this line will do.
I'm using the sys.txt posted by andrewpmoore with some add-ins found in this thread. I deleted the explanations in the original sys.txt. i just found that although saying "makes map drawing a lot faster" will make me think that it really does what it says, however it still won't say exactly what it is and what are its parameters.
The tags in blue were added by me, if you think they're incorrect, please correct me.

ok, the sys.txt file now features 14k which is bigger than a post could hold.
and to show it with text formatting it would take other 5k or more, so it was impossible to put it here.

in it, you'll find the sys.txt in normal text-only, in word 2003 and in excel 2003.
the reason i added a version in excel is cause it's much easier to edit, sort, add and delete comments in batches.

i will update it to the first post, but just occured to me the mapfontscale=200 is more for the street names showing on the map (the ones that follow the road while you move).

are you absolutely sure about that? sys.txt is like the bible for iGo. it is where you can change almost everything in the app to suit your needs. if it's working without it you may be using the factory settings which are not optimal.
@everyone: guys, i'm nearly finished re-editing the sys.txt with all the additions provided and will update the post #2 later today.
@KukurikU: why some of the itens in the screen, sound and 3d have no parameters? an example is focus_activator_key, shouldn't it be focus_activator_key=NNN?

This is very interesting. I have seen that some people are using type="Touch HD", some have even suggested using type="ALIAS XPERIA"
I looked in the latest "data file" that I could find, and under the subdirectory config\devices I found only one config file that relates directly to the Touch HD and it is called:
ALIAS_BLACKSTONE
I just started using this line type="ALIAS_BLACKSTONE" and with a ; in front of almost all of the entries in my sys.txt file to make them inactive. Everything is working great so far including landscape/portrait. I looked in the file and there wasn't much in it but I figure at least I actually found a file name that corresponded to the HD in the list.

that is definitely an important info. using the default settings for a specific model would suit a lot of users.
sys.txt's main job is tweak the app to optimize the experience. editing it wisely would make the whole thing much better.

As you can see, the rawdisplay settings are the important ones to control the size of screen. My iGO8 uses a baud rate of 56000 so id rather not use the ini file.

Yes i'm absolutely sure.
In version v8.3.2.64873 and lower you need a sys.txt where you need to tell iGO that it should use 800x480 graphics etc etc.. I am using v8.3.2.80621 and the only setting sys.txt contains is:

i've added all the new lines and the sys.txt file became way too big to fit in a post. it can be found in a zip file in doc, xls or txt.
it took me so long to post the additions simply because a few lines were making my blackstone crash and i had to work out which one.
as you can see in the files, a lot of lines are lacking explanation. please let's work on it a bit more, mates.

OK, If you want to stop the "route recalculation" voice, under [TTS] in your sys.txt file add = recalculate=0.

I have a strange problem.
The first time I try and search for an adress, I can use the
smart search funktion were letters greys out if there is no street adress
matching the previous letter.
But after I have closed a route, and try to search for a new adress, the letter "å or a" is automaticly pressed multiple times. I cant even go back and push another letter myselfe.
So far the only way to restore this is to resset user data.
Can this problem be solved by useing some command i the sys.txt file?

are you sure this is not a bug in the version you're using? i have recently been to portugal where the words have accents such as çãâáàü and everything worked just fine. i'm still using the version 8.3.2.64873.

i found the solution!
Add this to sys.txt

The only problem I'm having is that iGO doesn't respond when I press the hardware sound buttons. Nothing happens..
I'm using the latest version with no sys.txt, but I used a lot of sys.txt earlier when I used older versons. And there was the same problem. I'm using custom roms. Maybe that's the problem, because when I used stock rom I didn't have the problem.
Anyone having a solution?

I've been trying to get TTS to work for weeks, with no success so far. Whenever I select a TTS voice it's silent.
How did you install TTS? Would it be possible to post of list of the folders/files in your Igo setup?
I don't have sys.ini file - only a sys.txt file - could this be a problem?

what is the best baud rate to set up the GPS settings.
I also noticed that the GPS is little bit off in few meters how can I fix that.
I am running Rom 6.5 europe on T Mobile

An error you report means, you use "data.zip" file that does not support skin being selected.
Either you should change the skin or google for a right "data.zip" file.
all right, those of you who claim to be using 480-800 settings, i'm not saying you're wrong, but have you tried to install a 480-800 skin? whenever i put a 480-800 into my skins folder the program ignores it. however, the lower resolution version of the skin shows up and has no problem loading. this leads me to believe that the program is not actually running at 480-800. am i missing something here? any igo8 gurus have any idea?
iGO8 shows only skins fitting into it's settings so lack of 480x800 resolution means incorrect sys.txt
I use the below settings to get Gurjon skin working fine with 480x800 resolution:

Additionally, you need to have data.zip file supporting this resolution, otherwise you will receive an error message as reported few posts before.

Please note that there are TWO copies of sys.txt - one is located on your SD card while the second is (typically) located on your device in program files\igo8 folder.
iGO8 is using that SECOND one...
tovermars - first off your having that error because u have the wrong data.zip that doesnt have a 480x800 resolution in the zip file and or ur sys.txt file isnt in landscape mode...uur best bet to try to see if u have atleast one of them right..is to before u start igo8..open ur slideout keyboard and put ur screen in landscape mode vmanually..then start igo8..this should work and the program should open like normal because ur phone is alrdy in landscape mode before u start the program...#2 if that doe s work u may need to go to settings and turn ur screen to landscape mode everytime u want to start igo8..which will be a pain but atleast u get it to work..ur gonna need to adjust ur sys.txt settings and put landscape mode in the text..
people having tts problems u need to have the right audio folder in the root igo8 folder with the correct "EN" files that come with tts..theres a perfect site for this that will solve all of ur igo8 problems but u guys gotta find it urselves..the first pa4rt of the address is ppc the rest if "blank" cant use that word here in xda so search for ppc"blank".org and go to gps section ull solve all ur problems.
This version "iGO8.3.2.80621" works great on my T-Mo HTC TP2.

I got the the 800 x 480 working properly on either portrait and landscape only. I can't seem to be able to change orientation to 800 x 480 as I please. It must be the sys.txt is either setting the resolution to portrait only, or landscape only. Is it just me having this issue ?

Asus P835 IGO08 finally works

Hi all,
finally after some time we were able to launch IGO08 on Asus P835.
But some difficulties still exists.
Requirements:
- older IGO8 version 8.0.0.41506 is working
- IGO VGA mode only
- no automatic landscape mode, default is always portrait (is neccessary to force landscape orientation before igo launching)
- gless driver only, as original DDI.DLL is partially defective. As Asus didnt pay enough attention to this device.
GPS device is operating on COM2, baudrate 57600.

So you want to run TMC in iGO Primo on a HTC Touch HD? Here's how to do it.

I use an old pair of headphones, I've cut the earpieces off the other end and then looped the wire so as to make it tidy but long enough in length to pick up TMC data over the radio (the headphones acts as an antenna for the radio).
You will then need to start Primo and go to the settings panel for Traffic. Enable the first two options and eventually you should start to see TMC data flow into the handset (you may need to restart Primo).
If it doesn't work it might be that you do not have a valid license file in the \Primo\license\ folder (.lic file).
Give it a go and let me know if you have any problems.

TMC primo 1.2 working
Hi,
I got TMC working on the Touch HD in primo 1.2 using HyperGPS.
Altough before I start primo 1.2 I have to reload the GPS Intermediate driver.
(External GPS Icon->Access-> Manage GPS Auto off -> OK, and External GPS Icon->Access-> Manage GPS Auto on -> OK) It looks like after using primo the GPSID doesn't work anymore for COM 9. The GPS on COM 4 allways works...
Any idea's
1) How to reload the GPSID using a script or something else.
2) What could be the problem here....???
