[Q] Password Issues on xda - About xda-developers.com

I am having strange password issues when I try to log in here. In fact, I can never log in and I have to reset my password every single time. I cannot find anywhere that states the password requirements (length, characters, etc) so I am assuming it is being don't right and either hashed or bcrypted and allowing all characters with infinite length.
So my question is: Are there any issues using a >30 character long random character/symbol password here?
PS. No I don't type it in so I know I am submitting the correct password.

For password problems, I would PM the admin svetius. Moved to About XDA.

I think my password is over 30 characters... It's also got symbols... And yes. Hashing takes place client-side to allow you to do as you please with your password.

Password Not Working After Short Period?

Has anyone had this problem or maybe its a setting somewhere, I don't know. I get my mail from Exchange so policy requires a password be entered into my device. I use the Simple Password and use a 4 digit code. It works fine but for some reason after a short time, a few days or even a few weeks, the password no longer works. Of course I am unable to access my phone and I attempt 8 times then it wipes out my device. I don't lose much since I end up syncing my phone and getting everything back anyways but what could be wrong?
This has happened with all the ROMS that I have tried, TNT, Schaps, Dutty vp3G and all the flavors in between that have been released by them in the last few months. I should have mentioned it before but it always seems to happen when I'm on the road and I always forget to post it.
Some admins require that your password be changed after a length of time. Also your cert might expire and there for no longer be valid

Password doesn't expire and the cert doesn't expire until January. Even if it did require a change it is still asking me for a password and not a password change. If that was the case how would WM6 handle and required password change? Would it ask me again to change my password or would it simply deem the password I'm typing invalid, as what is happening to me?

[IDEA/REQ] Simple wallet app

I've used Sony Ericsson phones before I went over to WM-phones, and on the SE phones there is a standard app that is very simple, but genious.
It is a very simple app to remember your pin numbers and/or passwords.
It works kind of like this:
At first use, you select a password and a control word. You enter the password every time you enter the program and it then displays your control word so you can check that you wrote the right password.
Whatever password you enter at program startup will get you inside, no error messages or anything. But entering the wrong passord will also display your control word wrong - whatever it might be. When inside all stored pins/passwords are displayed, but only if you write the correct password when entering they are correct. That way someone not knowing the password will not be able to tell if they actually guessed the password as the "pin numbers" show anyway, but with completely randomized numbers. So they are basically just waisting their time.
Not sure if I managed to explain so anyone can understand or if there is such an app already? I've tried dosens of wallet apps, but not succeded in finding one that is as simple and good as the one in SE phones.
I've been wanting something like this for a while. I can't use the last one I had (Flexwallet) since I had to hard reset and lost the registration number.
There are bunch of free apps to do this on your Windows Mobile device:

Email Settings Not Saving Correctly

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
Using EnergyRom 28008 on a Touch Pro 2 I can't download email off of Comcast. I've had it working on a previous version of the ROM but I don't know why (if it was something I did, if it was the Rom, or some other variable).
Two things get my attention, but they may be nothing. First, is that after I've entered my email password, and save the settings, when I return to settings there are about twice as many stars in the password field as there are letters in my actual password. This occurs if I use manual setup or not. I'm thinking there's a chance it just fills the field with the same number of stars no matter what the real length of the password as a security measure. Or, it's saving my password incorrectly.
The other thing which gets my attention is that in the username field it saves it as "[email protected]" instead of just leaving it as "username". Saving and coming back, it's always adding on the "@comcast.net" part. I'm pretty sure this has to be a problem as Comcast wants the "@comcast.net" part left off.
Does anyone know of a solution? Is this just one of those wait and see things? They'll fix it eventually? Or is it a problem specifically with NRG's ROM? Is there a known solution, perhaps a registry setting I could change to work around the auto-botch effect? Any help would be very appreciated.

Needed information would be helpful

I use tapatalk alot so I am able to access xda through that. A couple minutes ago I had tried to login through a PC and typed in username and password. Password appeared as invalid even though moments before I had accessed the forum through tapatalk. I had requested a new password be sent to my account -still an invalid password. If this post ends up going through my previous password is still active and the one sent to me has not done anything.
Edit - post has gone through obviously. Still unable to login to the site with either of the two passwords. This has never happened and accessing my account til now has never been an issue.

The email gives you a link to change your password, it does not actually send you one. You have to use the link to change it. Otherwise, anyone could reset anyone else's password just to annoy them...

Captcha bug

Hi,
There seems to be an infuriating bug with the site. I keep getting captcha prompts despite entering the correct information.
I know this because if I enter incorrect information the I get a correct error message saying the Captcha didn't match.
However, if I enter correct data then I still get a form rejection with words to the effect that XDA adds a captcha for those with less than 10 posts.
This is a fairly major bug because there's no way for me to contact anyone, including site administrators.
Obviously the bug is intermittent.

No problem here, apparently. Can you give steps to replicate the problem?
We're using the industry-used reCaptcha. It's difficult to prevent spammers. I know it's frustrating sometimes, but it's a necessary evil to keep XDA free of spam.

So how do we get through this?
If you guys could provide some screenshots of you entering in the proper code and the system rejecting it, that would be helpful.
I've been testing this, sometimes I do get an incorrect code but usually the next time it is fine.
You can use the round 'reload' button to get a new one if it fails.
If you continually have a problem with it even though it is entered correctly, maybe let me know your IP, and what browser plugins you may use.
Hi
I tried to join this forum yonks ago and could not get past captcha so I hope you don't mind me using this post to say the new photo image is much easier than the joined together hard to read letters.
Some sites use a form of joining to defeat spammers requiring joiners to rotate image a number of times, randomized of course to the correct way up. As you can guess this requires a real human....rather than a fake human like me....giggles to pass the test.
I also found I could login via google account
Hope that helps someone
Also - no errors for me, but 11 rounds?!?
11 rounds of selecting images seems a bit excessive..?
And another 6 to post this message!
