i upgraded to the unlimited 4g on the 5th and i have been running XquiziT Rom since then. Now i haven't touched the stock tether app nor do I have any tether apps installed. last night i was using GTunes music downloader from the app store to download some songs. im just guessing here but i say i was on about my 14th download when i got a text from tmobile stating "to prevent future mobile hotspot from being blocked please add hotspot service from...and it had a link to go to tmob website.that was at 3:53am. so i figured it was just a notice everyone got. i download about 3 more songs and then at 3:58am i got a 2nd text stating that hotspot service had been blocked please add and another link just slightly diff than the first. the crazy part is when i got that 2nd text i could no longer download music with the app. i still can't either, it will let me search a song but when i hit download for it to generate the actual download button/link just disappears and says ive lost network connection. it still working on wifi though. sorry for the lengthy post but i just wanted to include all details i could think of. i mean i was downloading them fast like really fast back to back but, lol nevermind im just confused. these incidents tied together somehow or just a coincidence and everyone got those text? im open for any thoughts or ideas or answers.

I would call and explain to them you were using an app from the market to download files to your device and that no tethering was involved what so ever. I didnt get any texts. I wonder if their programs saw high data usage and assumed it was being tethered. But you said you dont have data anymore? or can you still browse the web and such?
That is weird, I would download roms using my 4g and I've be never received a message like that. Call them up and explain what happened, they will be helpful more then likely, hopefully.

Yeah call them up and let them know you were using their network to pirate music over Gtunes and they should hook you up.
I believe is the way the app is configure, tmobile think you using hot spot instead of the app, I don't think they going to be able to help you, they blocked it.

T-Mo usually has great customer service - your best bet is to just call and tell them what's up. It probably is a badly written app. Until then, you're probably better off waiting for wifi to download lots of stuff. When I've downloaded ROMs in the past, I've gotten angry texts from Tmo.
i wonder if i should try a wifi tether, not the tmo one but one from the app store and see what happens
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I believe I have found what's happening. I have been tethering using wifi tether for root users, and I got this same message. T-mobile is looking at where the data comes from, and flagging it if they think it's being used from a desktop. I read where other users got this same message, because on their stock browser, they changed their user agent to desktop instead of mobile. Because all their internet browsing, from the phone, was looking at desktop views, t-mobile assumed they were tethered to a desktop and tried to block access. I would assume that your music downloader is getting it's downloads from "desktop" sites, or something about the downloads are being flagged as desktop.
I would bet, if you tried to browse from your mobile browser viewing desktop sites, it would block you. It's BS, and they can't do it forever. Sure, guys like me are being blocked from tethering, which is what they are after, but you aren't the first victim who was using your phone legitimately and got blocked.

I only take credit for finding these files and making some sence out of it.
First you have to uninstall the current version of Flash , I like to use Titanium Backup to wipe cache and uninstall, but you can do this from Setting Applicaton.
****Updated 7-16-12***
Watching Amazon Instant Videos and Hulu on your SII with the ICS update. Simple... You'll have to use Dolphin Browser and the updated ICS Adobe Flash. See the downloads below. I've never had and luck with Amazon Instant Video player or getting in registred on ICS, but with my Prime memberhip, Dolphin Brower, and updated Flash for ICS, I can stream my Prime Videos.
***This is not a Hulu plus subscription or a hack for it, all this does is trick the web site into thinking you are on something else other then a Andriod device.***
You have to be rooted…
So get rid of Adobe Flash by clearing data and uninstalling.
Once Adobe flash has be uninstalled reboot.
Now Install the new Adobe flash 10.3,
Once installed, reboot
Now install the Hulu APK and or Dolphin Browser
After you launch the program you'll see the black square just click on it and it take some time to load
After the ads your video should start.
*** Added Huluifed Adobe flash 10.3 and 11.1 you can try either one. I tested both and they worked for me***
A good combo is 10.3 and Dolphin browser with the following setting, this way you can have all the options that the website has.
However I'm running the Huluified 11.1 and the Hulu.apk, and it's working great.
Adobe flash 11.1 and dolphin browser works you have to allow for pop us and manually click on the ad so that you can get through them. Then the video will start, if you find a better work around let me know, plus it was hit or miss.
My Dolphin Brower Setting
1) Set flash to always on.
2) Set User agent to Desktop
3) Keep Screen On
4) Enable plug-in always on
5) Load Images
Adobe Flash Hulified10.3
Adobe Flash Hulified11.1
*** updated Adobe Flash Hulified for ICS***

not yet, too busy, i use a USA proxy it always worked on the PC both linux and win
not sure we'll get good performance on the phone, unless you are on WiFi
Nevermind, this is just a wrapper for the website.

Why do you need the Hulu app? Can't you just watch it from the website using the hacked version of flash? Besides, don't you need a paid account to use the Hulu app?
Hulu is free, go to the http://www.hulu.com/ website for details
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hulu.plus
Yes, but doesn't hulu from any mobile device(read phone out tablet) require a hulu plus subscription?
I thought the whole hacked flash thing was so hulu thought you were accessing their site from a desktop.

I have been running Hulu Plus on my setup since day one. The secret is to use backup files from a working phone and those files are in the Titanium Backup folder on your SD card. Then it works like a charm. I have BOTH Netflix Paid member and Hulu+ running nicely. Wifi it's awsome. Or you will really need to be an a decent 4G minimum 2 bar area not to run into issues, such as buffering, freezes, etc. Also, on some ROMs they throw in the ad free app. Ad Free can cause issues. I believe if you set it up to revert back to stock, it won't be an issue. This particular I just looked and on my setup the Ad Free app from BigTinCan.com is set up with a check box to use 127.0.0.1. Now Hulu+ will not be interfered with. I uploaded my original files from July to Hotfiles.com download mirror.
http://hotfile.com/dl/138466459/0630641/Hulu_Plus_Tit_Backup_Files.zip.html
Unzip and then place THREE files here in your Titanium backup folder that should be on your SD card. Then simply restore Hulu + and you should be all set.
ENJOY!!
EDIT!!!!!!!!
YES!!!!I am a paid registered member for each site. You will be able to basically get to the home screen and it will ask you to log on, so unless you have a paid membership, don't waste your time. I like it a lot, since it remembers where I was watching at home and on the road if stuck ina dr. office etc, I can log back on and just resume from where I left off. This method does NOT enable users to hack on to Hulu+ and pirate use anything. It just basically fakes you phone into thinking the device is supported. Eventually, they do catch up. I had to use this method on my Sensation before the SGS2. Eventually support did come to the Sensation I believe wrt Netflix. Not sure if Hulu+ is supported yet.

I tried it but I couldn't seem to get it to work on stock browser with the "desktop view" option check on, in setting.
Well just got curious looked in the hulu+ app supported phones list an now they support three Samsung phones, the nexus s, galaxy nexus, and the sgs 2.
They released the update the 23 June. Now I don't know if anyone knows this in the forums but I'm glad to upgrade from hulu+ 1.0.116 that I got from my wife's sensation over a year 1/2 ago for my vibrant.
Cheers all
Edit: well the new interface kinda sucks took me 20 min to find access to my favorites, but I got there, this new version kinda looks like Netflix with the recommendations right there in your face.

That's crazy! Have you mailed the developers? It must be images or something, text couldn't add up to that. Maybe leave it connected to your wifi and run wireshark or something (if you've got an adapter that will run promiscuous mode properly) - maybe you can see what it's doing...

Images? Forget about images, this has to be downloading high quality videos to get to 9GB.
I have some serious security concerns about what this app is doing. You should try to sniff the data and see how much its sending versus receiving. I'd be curious to know what IP addresses it is communicating with. Did you install it directly from the market?

Hi,
I am the dev of this app.
1. when you have such trouble, please contact me by email (hopefully somebody did).
2. check if it load images and images sizes. It doesn't load 'thumbnails' from the websites, but full images if thumbnails are not available ... so, if the website use big images of 2Mb ... it can goes quickly.
3. disable widget cache if it was enable
4. here is my widget with 3h refresh period and 8 feeds :
http://pureapps.planethoster.org/images/presentation/pne_data.png
5. if you use the internal viewer, all browsing you does in the viewer is counted ... video streaming, downloads...
@deekjx : For comments about 'security concerns', dump the UDP/TCP trafic if you want, there is nothing hidden. But, please, be careful before publishing such comments. Now, if the app doesn't come from the market, you can be right... few users reported Pure calendar hacked bersions containing viruses because they got it from a 'forum'.
Please, email me logcats just after a manual refresh to check what is wrong.
Same for me too
Switched to manual update worked fine. contacted dev through market
Hi!
In the recent time, when I surf XDA-forum with my Xoom or Galaxy Nexus, I often am redirected to awful commercial-sites like this one ( http://cat.m.smartphonegirls.de/wwf...n_id=103566ff54dbd160ab06425f95bc91&path=SPOQ), who want to sale stupid things.
The only way to avoid it is to use a desktop UA-string.
Why does XDA support those kind of abo-services, we all know from the media? I have nothing against commercials on the forum, I know XDA needs the money. But not that way, please...

These shouldn't be appearing... Do you have any details about what's causing it to appear? Ie. a particular browser?
Just the stock android 4.0.3-browser, on my Xoom with Tiamat-ROM and on my Galaxy Nexus with CM9.
It only happens on XDA-dev-page, mostly when entering the UCP or a thread. And there are two sites I have seen. The one I posted and some other video-page. I don't remember that name, but will post if I see it again.
And it doesn't always happen, just from time to time.

Yes, and if you accidentially would tap "Ja" (= yes in German) you would have to pay 2,99€ per week via your mobile bill, if you haven't blocked mobile payments on your contract (by default it's activated, you have to contact the provider).

I don't know if it's with 3G, since most of the time I'm using WiFi (home, university etc.) so I just can only confirm it happens with WiFi. Anyway, it will most likely be with 3G, too - I simply don't remember that.
I also got that "ad" today ... That ad is not just emberrasing, but if you click it, it will cost you 3€/week and that's horrible!!!
3G (H), Provider: T-Mobile ...

No, you didn't click something. It just takes until the entire site is loaded, then you are redirected. The worst thing about is that you cannot even go back to the page you wanted, because the browser seems to think it IS the page you wanted. If you go back, you.get the page you had before... Not funny...
And yes, I have also recognized it on other pages, but only very, very few, so I don't think it's Google Ads.
It seems roam control is defunct (based on lack of basic response and updates), but I see no reason reason another developer could not step in and offer a viable replacement. Should we put together a bounty and hope to entice a developer to design a replacement app? I am sure their are enough sprint users that would kick in.

I wish there would be some headway on this. There's been some change in the past two days that leaves me with 0 signal in my office and, of course, it won't stay on roaming and keeps bouncing back and forth. I don't know if they're having issues at this one tower, or if they have changed the direction of the antenna, or what.
I was looking for this as well to get my phone to force roam in places I got bad service. I had the app on my EVo, and EVo 3D and got spoiled. My service sucks at work and home even with the Airrave. This is what I did and it works for me.

- Once you download the Modded Verizon Zip. Extract the files. Rename the PRL that says 00002 to Test.prl. (Feel free to try other PRL's. Just posting what works for me). Use Move or Copy (My Files stock app, Astro, or whatever you use) to put Test.Prl on root of Sd Card, (not ext card).
- Once its on the root of the SDCard storage turn off your wifi, and your data.
- click on the Hideen Menu app (apk) you downloaded and installed already
- tap launch settings> ##DATA#Menu>View>PRL Write.
- After you tap PRL Write the phone should reboot.
- After reboot Tap Menu>System Settings>About Phone>Status and you should see this below

If it does you are now roaming. If it doesnt. Then try again. It usually works if data and wifi is off. If your looking to go back to Sprint. Just update your PRL the normal way. This wouldnt be considered "on the fly" like the roaming app, (without a reboot) but its fast, close enough and does the job for ME. If this is a repeat of what everyone already knew, ignore this obviously. This is for ppl that may not know or the search button isnt working for you.... I'm using Jelly Bomb btw. I know it doesnt work on AOSP Roms. Dont know about the others.
**I'm sure everyone knows the consequences for roaming too much on Sprint. I actually had my account terminated before for the same. Which in my case worked out. They terminated the contract but not my line, phone number or account so I was able to come back as a new account. May have got lucky. Dunno & dont want to find out. I try to use it just AS NEEDED and go easy on the DATA roaming as well. I monitor my bills just to be sure.. Dont get lazy and leave it roaming all day everyday because your content with having service everywhere like I did. Take it off when in places you have Sprint service.
Hope this helps
So................ I am in the middle of building my MC2 H20 ROM and I will see about putting this in my ROM maybe as a toggle option in the dropdown, and in settings. I will see what time permits. If I finish the rom before this is complete I will focus on this.
I have this on the root of my storage and I have no idea what it is or does. There is also a folder EyeballSDKLogs. Am I the only one?

Can you be more specific as to the location of that file? Where is the "root of my storage"?

Thats from some app you downloaded. I definitely don't have that. Did you download a VOIP app or messaging app? Verizon Pixel?
Only hangouts
A Google search indicates it may (or may not) be related to Eyeball Chat.
Do you have any video chat on your phone?
Maybe some online based school apps?

Eye don't have it on my phone.
Get it.
Eye don't have it.

I do have vr camera installed. Not much else. I deleted the folder and file to see if they pop up again.
I had installed samsung ipolis at one time.
Anyone come up with any more information on this? Just came across it on my own phone today. Google search turns up a few other posts about it but no info on what it is. I am suspicious that it *might* be associated with the DirecTV app because I just downloaded it today and then happened to notice that folder in / with a last modified timestamp of today. Other than that I have nothing to go on.
I suspect it's some 3rd party tool that many different software vendors will use.
Kind of how like everyone uses Flash or Java for something or other.
After deleting, it was consistently recreated shortly after rebooting. Using this behavior and after much trial and error I found that if I disabled storage permissions for the Directv app it would not be recreated. I don't know yet if it has an adverse effect on the app to leave the permission disabled. I wonder if it is related to the app's commication with the receiver since many of the references to eyeball sdk when googled are related to messaging. Just a thought with no hard evidence.
About the file EYEBALLSDKLogs. I just got the Samsung S7 and also the Galaxy Tab E on promo deal, but my husband and I both have S5 Actives that we have used for a little over 2 years now. Best phones we've owned BTW! Any who, before downloading any apps to either one of the new ones, I of course played with them a couple of days to get used to the features and see what was new. Tab E is pretty much a big version of S7 phone. They both had this new file that stuck out like a sore thumb considering the name of the file is a bit funny, but this file hasn't ever been on our other devices and we had the different messaging apps, I had a couple VR apps but deleted Ayer a few days & this particular file has never shown up. I did notice the DIRECTTV App was already pre-installed on the S7 and Tab E so it's very likely that's were this file is coming from. I just don't understand why after using the Directtv App it shows the file size with 50mb instead of 00.0 before use, but no extensions to the file when I click on it. I did delete it but as soon as I opened the DirectTv app, Viola' it's back.

Similar files
Had similar files on my stock LG tribute HD. Undoubtedly picked them up after getting greedy and down loading free cracked/nodded app not from playstore. Found this searching. Idk but it appears to be a p2p, remote client app. Have not checked Hybrid Analysis site for review yet but will.
*cannot post link as this is my first xda post. The site that has the developers description is slides hate.net eyeball-messenger-sdk-v100
Woukd like to hear input as this raises concerns and is suspicious in nature. Thanks
Hello, I just wanted to chime in and say thay I think it has something to do with the Directv app. The DVR portion in particular. I noticed when I tried viewing my dvr on the app, it had a quick view feature and it must have created that folder because I noticed mine after I was messing around with the Directv app.
