I have a bunch of files here I use as wallpaper and I want to use them again on the One X. I have resize them already. I just want to use them now on the phone.
I transferred them into the "My Documents" folder in USB storage but when I tried to change the wallpaper it seems there's no way to specify a custom location. Probably something I don't know as I just got my first Android yesterday. I was coming in from the 4s.
Searching the net didn't turn up anything useful.
Thanks!

where do I do that? I tried gallery and it doesn't work.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm using cm10 and I can see the images now BUT when I want to make it my wallpaper (I'm using settings), it wants me to crop it. I believe the images are in the right size already. 720x1280 resolution.
Am I doing something wrong? thanks!

You need to use a file browser however. Something that should be the first thing you explain to new user of Android They will need to download one of these from the Play store.
Seriously though the easiest step for a new user, just connect the phone to your computer and move the pictures you put on the HTC Storage into the Pictures folder. Done......

I just use the Personalise option to change wallpaper and select the one on my SD card I want to use and then drag the border about to select the whole picture. I store my wallpaper in a folder called 'Wallpaper' (original eh?) on the root of the SD card

Well, now, I do the same. I even picked the same folder name. Who'd a thunk it eh?
Just worth mentioning that you can only select the whole picture if it's the right aspect ratio to start with as the aspect ratio of the selected area is fixed.
Apparently 1440x1280 is optimal!
Do I need to root the phone first ?

Hi everyone,
I am completely new to modding/theming/customizing my Evo in any way. I was taking a look at the post your screens thread and a lot of them look really cool, I just don't know where to even begin to customize my own evo. It's overwhelming seeing how customizable it is.
Right now I'm running Myns RLS3 with Launcherpro Plus and I have just downloaded a HD icon pack I found that I liked and put it on the root of my SD card. When I go to change it in Launcherpro, it takes me to my albums but I can't find the icons anywhere.
Can anyone help me out here or provide me with some kind of tutorial?? Thanks!
Here is an easy way. When you put them on your sd card create a file for them so it will be easier to find them. That's what I had to do.
sent from the phone that is EVO
Yeah, but it automatically takes me into my albumbs when I choose to apply a custom icon. It doesn't even give me the option to explore the root of my SD card. How would I go about fixing this?

Make sure you unzip the icon pack first. Use es file explorer to unzip the icon pack then you can find them.

How exactly do you 'create a file' for the icons?
I assumed they meant folder? right?

Yup, just make a folder, and put it in your pictures folder. (Where camera shots are stored.)
Hello All,
I have a rooted KF with just the google play and android market. The live wall papers would work great for a while but lately when I put the KF to sleep and turn it back on it looses the wall paper and I have to re apply.
What can I do to fix?
Thank you
Joe

Unfortunately that happens. There is a way out of it though.
The first method is to completely replace the wallpapers with your own: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28583689
The second method is to lock one specific wallpaper or live wallpaper. This method will keep the same live wallpaper until you undo it, so you wont have to keep re-doing it.
1. Browse to /data/data/com.android.settings/files
2. Inside this folder you should see a file named "wallpaper"
3.Change the permissions so it doesn't have any(unchecked everything)
4.Now your wallpaper is changed and wont change back.
*Make sure you set the wallpaper BEFORE you do this.*
*To unlock your wallpaper again, change the permissions of the wallpaper file to rw-r-r*

The PC/USB thing can only see the SDcard. You'd have to browse there via a root-capable file manager on the Kindle.
(ES File Explorer is nice.)

You have to go into es file explorers settings and allow it root access so that you can access the root drive previously referred to, you can't browse it right now because you haven't allowed it. Once you have allowed root access you will be able to click the "up folder" in button to get to the root directory instead of the sd card directory, then you will be able to locate the directory you need.

Try going into es file explorer and change the setting of the home from /sdcard to / or /mint then u will see a data folder.

No worry mate... This is with everyone.... Use root explorer and u will see a button on top "mount R/W".... click it and your system will be mounted as read and write.... U can now edit any file in your system as u have permissions....copy, cut, paste anything.... Pressing it again will mount it as "read only"....

Have you tried to create a downloads folder in your DCIM directory and move the pictures to there after downloading. I know that's a little more work than it really should be, just throwing an option out.

plenty of rescan media apps thatll force a media rescan, and make them show up. check the play store.
Is there a way to change the folder/place where the screenshot is automatically saved?
To be clear, I know you can easily move the picture after its saved, I want to change the default save location.
(I don't want to save the shot then move it, just auto save it to a new folder)
