Radio and kernel update related question - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
My desire has [email protected] #2 kernel. Since I've noticed that the perfomance has been decreased (lagging), should I flash another kernel?
Also, about the radio, where to look for the version? Is it the baseband version? (Which is: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27) Which problems would indicate an update of radio?
Thank you for your time!

Your radio version is 5.11.05.27. The latest radio 5.17.05.23 available here link. I have yet to hear somebody solving his problems after flashing new radio. CM 7 recommends latest radio though. Flash with caution. Brick territory

The only bad thing that happens is that when I am talking to a friend, it starts with me stop hearing my friend and then the call will be ended..
I know it could be his problem, as well, but he says it's happening only with me. He has HTC Desire HD...we had flashed android revolution to his device..

Offering Money to Fix Phone 2.2

Hello,
I am willing to offer someone 20USD if they can tell me how to fix my HTC desire. I was running on a Asia ROM which was upgraded to a Euro one so i could update. Upon updating to 2.2 I have no wifi, or SD and "process system" keeps crashing
The details of the phone are:
Model A8181
OS: 2.2 (from OTA)
Baseband: 32.36.00.28U_406.00.02_2
Kernel: 2.6.29-0cb9f166
Build is 2.09.405.8
Please Help Me.
You need to flash the newest radio, should fix all your problems.
You're using a radio from eclair (2.1).
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
With the 2.2 ota, im not sure if there is a way to downgrade, as I read one of the devs accidentally upgraded to an OTA release. This is due to the bootloader being updated to one that hasnt been hacked yet.
My 2 cents is hold tight and hope one of the devs figures a way to downgrade, that way you could install a custom 2.2 which doesnt have these issues.
Good luck, sorry i couldnt be of much use :/
EDIT- i completely missed that flakz0r lol, can it still be flashed through recovery if he used a 2.2 OTA update? if so http://android.adamg.co.uk/bravo/radio/32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.zip
you still have the older 2.6.29 kernel too
flash the radio to the latest and flash one of the 101 roms people are releasing based on the new ota 2.2 as that should update your kernel

Did you download the ota update, or have you got root and installed one of roms on this forum? If it's ota I dont see how your radio can be the one you've stated. If it's a rom from the forum flash the new radio 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.zip
I dont know, but it should be possible. Also, the official OTA update comes with the new radio, so i dont understand how he was able to update the rom but not the radio. That is assuming he isnt rooted, of course.

I just fixed something like this today. It's a bit of an involved process though. Send me a pm so we can talk via IM.

I flashed one of the stock roms from here to get it to be a euro one instead of asia.

Yeah, you just need the radio. Put it on your sdcard and flash it like you flashed the rom. Dont touch your phone, let it work, takes a while.
so....who got the 20 dollars?
lol i think it should be falkz0r he was the first to provide a solution...
btw...he managed to go from asian to european version through goldcard and the RUU file. Done that to my previous Hero too.

I got him through the entire process using teamviewer and MSN. Still haven't got the $20 though....
And flashing a radio isn't a solution

[Q] Radio backup and flash

Hi,
I have recently flashed the Revolution HD 6.1.3. The forum recommends to flash the radio 12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M.
I would like to backup my current radio, but I didn't find a way to do this. It is not possible using the Clockworkmod recovery, neither using other software.
My radio is 12.26b.60.14eU_26.03.02.26_M (stock). I searched the web and forum for this radio, but I only found the Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M - It changes from 26b to 28b and from "eU" to "e".
According to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295 , the version is the same, the difference is the protocol. What does this means? What is the difference between this radio and my stock radio? Is there any way to backup my current radio?
Thanks in advance.
You can't backup a radio. All available radios are in a thread at the dev section. Some radios have a slightly different name on some phones. But they are the same.
Sent out of my Free Candy Van.
I bought my DHD on europe, but I am using it in Brazil. I know there are differences in frequencies of each carrier. All the radios implements the same frequencies? What changes from a radio with "eU" (12.26b.60.14eU_26.03.02.26_M) in the name from other named "e" (Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M), and the other without any letters (12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M)?
I'm interested in this too, I also wan't to backup my current radio rom.

I really have doubts on this. I guess there must be differences between those versions as there are differences in the used frequencies. For example Europe uses 13 wifi channels and USA only 11. I've read posts saying that you can not use channel 13 anymore if you flashed one of these (us) roms.

They're extracted from the RUU that they come with.

I thought it was not possible to flash the radio on a SON device. How can it be possible ?
@xmmo
Does it also work on branded models?

I found another Chinese site with downloadable radios. Just use the Google translation. No need to register or anything else...maybe you'll have more success with this site...

noob question, how do i see what radio i have currently? its a stock vodafone branded phone. When i boot using vol + power the radio version comes up as "none" is this normal? because im pretty sure on the previous htc devices i owned i could see the radio version
Then it seems the radio is part of the ROM then!
So you don't need to flash a radio if you have the latest one in the custom ROM already. Its in system/etc of the ROM.
Very interesting..... Has anyone tried this yet?
I've tried it with InsertCoin 6.4
Doesn't seem to have any effect.

Did CWM say that the flash did go well?
This only changes the radio file, I don't know if it will change radio version number in build.prop

Doesn't settings get the radio version number from the radio, rather than a static text file? Would only make sense...

Radio ROM for Marange?

Possibly a fairly noob question but do I need to install a radio with Marange ROM?
I have an HTC Desire, A181 on the Virgin Australia Network. Any help would be appreciated.

if u mean a radio as in the OP for that rom "Lastest radio recommended" then probably yes. iv flashed rom's without having the "recommended" radio and had no problems but u might aswell flash the lastest radio coz most roms now recommend it. its easy to change anyway, just flash via fastboot commands.

[Q] htc desire z radio fm for Greece

Hi i am from Greece and i really need a radio fm. Info about my phone :
Model number HTC Vision
Android version 4.1.2
Kernel version 3.0.51-g7a425e7 [email protected] #1
Andromadus version 1352932530
Build number cm_vision-eng 4.1.2 JZ054K eng.ncik.20121114.223530 test-keys
Which radio *.img should i flash form my phone and my country ?
from : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
If you are looking for an FM radio, do not flash one of those
if you are looking to change your cellular radio in hope of improved reception or battery life you will not find someone to tell you which one, you will need to try and see what works for you. I will suggest starting with the latest then moving on if nothing improves.
Again, not FM! If you want FM radio go to market and download spirit or something

Thank both of you very much.I want to listen FM radio yes that need headphones as an antenna.
Not listen music that need internet access.
When i flash rom 4.1.2 i lost my fm app so i need one.
So i have to try 19 radio ?
Nope, you can cause harm flashing firmware. There is a major difference between cellular radio and FM radio. Do not flash anything firmware that is unneeded for there is always the possibility of causing harm.
Go into the play store (android market) and search for FM radio there, sport radio seems good for many but test some out and see what you like. Again do not flash firmware, download from market
