HTC power button problems - HTC One X

Hello,
I have my HTC One X with two months now, and i have a problem where it takes me a lot of attempts pressing the power button to unlock the phone. Something ive noticed, is that the less battery is in the phone, the more attempts it takes to unlock the phone.
Does anyone have any idea whether this could be a software, or a Hardware issue?
I've taken that it could be a software issue, and im rooting the phone as we speak, but to unlock the bootloader i need to press the power button to confirm, and its not registering me pressing it so im stuck on that step. I can turn off the phone if i hold it down, but i want to root it to see if it is a software issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

It might be a hardware issue.
You should not unlock the bootloader..
Just to avoid any issues at the service center.

Desire stuck in bootloader mode

Hi, i wondered if someone here can help me with my htc desire, i purchased it like this by the way. When i insert the battery and power the device it goes straight into bootloader mode but im unable to select the options using the volume button, is there a way to exit this mode? or is it possible i can use the volume keys of the handsfree headset (i dont have) in case the phones volume buttons are faulty?
Here below is a pic ive taken:

Your input would be highly appreciated, thanks!
Have you removed battery and try booting up again?

hi, yes i have, as soon as i put the battery in and press power it automatically goes into bootloader mode without even holding the back key, which is puzzling..
Did you buy it from a shop? Take it back if so. Is there any movement in the volume buttons or ate they stuck down?

It could be that it has water damage and that is causing the volume down to be pressed by itself all the time..
i compared the volume buttons with a working desire and they feel exactly the same
Is this a new phone?
If so - return it.
This happened to my phone too, which was bought new. Looking around it does appear to be a hardware problem and needs to be sent back for repair/replacement.

Power Button stuck ON need to return to Sprint

Hi Guys,
My powerbutton works pressing down but it seem that the trigger sensor is stuck on. I cannot turn it on from wake either since its already supposedly pressed. The only way is to take my battery out and reboot. Even when I place the battery back in it would start on its own (yea thats how i figured it was stuck..)
So in my mind, I'll just return my rooted phone to Sprint by unrooting it. Ah, there's a problem I can get into Bootloader but i'm not able to toggle the selection because the power button is still active.
Is there anyway I can use adb to push updates from my computer without having control of the phone itself since it's useless?
As far as returning the phone, the problem is a physical issue not a software issue, what are my chances of getting a replacement? Thanks!
If you are still using the volume buttons, can you try to press [again] the power button to select? Also, likely to get a replacement since its a hardware issue.
it wont let me toggle up and down at all at bootloader.
i'm a little concern what they might say when they see its a rooted phone S-OFF feature (that's if they decided to look into the problem further) but its very evident the button is stuck at ON.
I think you should still be able to unroot by hooking it up to your computer and running an RUU.
50/50 they will look in further, since its a hardware issue. And they won't like it being rooted, they may tel you have to pay 100$ if they see it. And I'm not too sure where to push the files via adb, but I believe it can be done.

Same thing happened to me though mine was due to me dropping my phone. I would give HTC a call in the first instance and try and get it fixed for free under warranty
My phone is rooted and has a custom rom so i am able to bypass this issue by having the phone wake on track ball and i have downloaded a few apps
screen off and lock (this is then mapped to long press on the search key
quick boot (to restart the phone, this requires root access to work)
after a few hours you get used to the alternative way to switch the screen on and off.

I had the same problem with the desire HD, happened suddenly installed nolock as a tempory solution, and was going to take it in under warranty for repair. It is caused by a stuck power button. Heres how I fixed mine. As a last resort, I removed the battery sim card cover and battery cover so that all I was holding was the Ali uni body section. with my finger and thumb I began flicking the chrome button with my nail, as if you were flicking a pea accross the table, after about 30 seconds of flicking the little chrome button popped out slightly, when holding it by your ear and pressing it you can now hear a click. Maybe a dust particle or something from my pocket caused mine not sure, but it was moisture or software related. Hope this helps someone who maybe hasthe same problem.
Paul.
i'd say give htc a call
hope u find a solution soon..

[Q] [HELP!] Phone won't turn on after pressing "power down" option

greetings to all XDA members
I could not turn on my phone after accidentally selecting the "power down" button in bootloader after pressing down power + volume down
What did i just do? How can i turn on my phone now??? HELP ME! T_T
Pressing the "Power down" option in HBOOT should not be a problem. I've done it a couple times on purpose.
Did you try a long press of the power button, maybe 1-2 seconds? Is the battery sufficiently charged? It will charge when powered down.
be4 i clicked power down, it was around 30% battery (maybe that's why) and since the power-down thing, even if i plug in to charge there is no orange/green light on the LED, is it still charging even without the orange LED lighting up?

There is a known bug with one series. This is a Hard Brick, sorry its true. HTC agreed to fix mine and its being sent back 2morrow. however JTAG CANNOT Fix this issue. i have tryed MANY things and Nothing helped. it completly ****s the main board. Htc have said that this issue is being looked at and for me to NOT press and hold the volume buttons with the power button again, They have said it is a hardware problem not software problem. This issue cannot be resolved by a update only fixable with hardware change.

Dude, not again... Did you get QHSUSB_DLOAD? If you did. I'm sure it's a hard brick. It happened to me once. The only solution is phone replacement. Take your phone to your seller. You will get a replacement phone within 3 working days.

[Q] Please Help: HTC One X Buggered :(

Hi All,
Please help me if you can with the problem I am now experiencing
HTC One X is my first android phone, i have had it for about 3 months. It has been brilliant ever since i had it
However last night I installed the Amazon APP Store as its now available in the UK. Ever Since my phone has gone absolutely haywire
Its a real stuggle to get it on, if you hold down Power it vibrates and the 3 lights flash a few times, then nothing. Sometimes it comes on! Then when its on its DEAD slow, like really really slow, also after a minute or so the resolution changes and things are all in the wrong place; then the touchscreen doesnt respond, so i turn it off and the cycle continues
I have managed to get back on it, and to get rid of the Amazon App store but I am still facing the same difficulities.
My HTC One X is UK version and is on stock ICM.
Do you have any ideas how I can return it to working order?
Also: DAMN YOU AMAZON
EDIT: BTW, when i press power, the lights at the bottom are on, and i can hear the volume sound change, but no screen. I am trying to factory reset but cant get the phone working long enough to find it
If you press and hold power button + volume down at the same time the phone will boot into Bootloader. From there you can do a factory reset. Navigate with volume keys to Hboot and use power button as confirm. There should be an option there for factory reset..

Unfortunately i cannot get the PC to look for it, and i cant get into the thing where you hold down power and down arrow
I think the screen has totally given up, which i dont understand; this was always a software issue
Install a RUU matching your device and then see what happens. If that doesn't solve it, then MAYBE hardware issue.
