I post this new thread,
to make it way easier to ask your questions here !
Instead of making new threads etc, that goes sometimes whole offtopic, and it doesnt the right subject anymore, like you make a new thread to solve something and then someone knows the answer, but then the most of the peeps, ask in the thread what he created a new question so in my opinion is it kinda useless and its going nowhere, so you can every question you need asking here
Enjoy !!

arc S Jelly Sandwish stock mail app
Noob, first post, yes I've seen the video, yes I've used the search tool.
Now my question, concerning this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836993&page=205
Does the defaul/stock mail app works? I.E. can you refresh the combined inbox?
I'm asking this because a few weeks ago I installed the official 4.0.4, build 4.1.B.0.431, ICS (yes, its the latest Sony is officially providing me to this day) and I had to go back to Gingerbread because I couldn't refresh the combined mail box.
There just wasn't an option to do so, and since on that thread people are complaining about the WCDMA/GSM network bug and they are being told thats an inherited problem from the official ICS I'm wondering if the email suffered the same fate.
And I'm asking here because as a new user I cannot ask directly on that thread and this was the 2nd best place I found, I do apologize in advance if there is a better thread to ask this particular question.
Sooooo, no news yet on my question? ^^^^^^^^
Yikes, well, I guess i can keep posting to get to 10 posts then ask on the other thread.
my arc keep sending message by itself when it reboot.. any solutions?

Flash original .587 kernel with flashtoo, the way i think. I face that things like you. At that time, I simply flash stock kernel with flashtool.
Still needing help with, my original question, does the jelly sandwish have the same problem on the stock email application as the official ICS?
I.e. combined inbox refresh?
Could somebody the post thread link of the tutorial to enable init.d tweaks on locked bl? PLEASE!!!
EDIT:
Have found it, was searching in wrong forum, excuse my laziness!

hi
regarding to the wipe and tick wipe i have probelm
why the options of the wipe are not appear in my PC
i tried to install the flash tool on another PC but i didn't get any thing still no option .
please your advice
There are a few things that bug me after installing CM10 FXP204 on my LT15i.
I don't know if this causes problems if not then I don't really care; My phone status tells me now I'm using an Arc S, (play store tells me I'm using O2 SEMC Xperia Arc S. as well).
Equalizers ain't working. The N7 player doesn't save the equalizer settings, but bass boost works. (Equalizer too as long as I don't leave the menu)
DSP Manager doesn't work at all it seems. I played around with all the settings but couldn't hear any difference.
Also, how do I remove accounts from sync using the HD 2.0.3Rom +mod?

I've been trying diff ROM's on my Samsung Gio ...but every ROM i try i have the same issue with my data connection...data won't work until i toggle it.
I tried 2 versions of "Particle ROM". It's a GREAT one! I would have to toggle airplane mode ON, then OFF to get the data to work. If the screen timed out, I had to do it again.
I just installed GioPro 1.4 ROM and my data is also wonky. I have to toggle it still..
I had NO issue with the stock ROM. I didn't back it up before flashing. I didn't want it any way..it was practically useless. Install one or 2 apps and you were out of memory. Useless!
Any ideas?
Stock rom useless ?
I have stock rom and has a very good performance and battery life. Why are you saying this ?
BTW, those 2 roms you tried i think they have that data bug, it's not your fault.

I know those 2 are in developement (in fact, are there any ROM's for the Gio that aren't? ) ...i don't have time to fully investigate each thoroughly, however, skimming through the forums, i don't recall seeing anyone with this issue. Maybe I'm wrong?
The stock ROM was terrible on battery, and I ran out of memory after installing a few essential apps. I didn't even have room for the upgrades when they were available. I found myself having to install apps, use them, the uninstall them so I could install others that I needed, then uninstall those to re-install the ones I previously uninstalled, and so on and so on and so on....
Are there any complete ROM's?

have you tried using a stock rom with phiezx custom kernel? I'm using [Kernel]Custom kernel for stockrom with alot of feature [Update: January 31, 2012] and a2sd works as well as swap and cpu toggle. so far i'm happy with it perhaps its what you're looking for. make sure to flash clockwork mod so you can make backups and restore at any time to the previous rom if unhappy.

If you root your device then you can easily overcome this problem on stock rom. You'll have to make an ext partition on your sd card and then download link2sd from market. Then using link2sd, just keep system files on internal and move all apps and their lib/dex files to your sdcard's ext.
On my stock 2.3.3 I had 75+ apps installed with still 100MB free on internal.

Really need some help on this...
Tried many diff ROM's now, with same result. Data only works intermittently. Some ROMs have required my intervention to get data to work (temporarily work), while other ROMs require no intervention; data goes on and off by itself.
Do i need to flash a new radio? Where would I get a radio for the Canadian BELL variant of the Gio. Upon bootup, the screen says it's S5660, no M, or L, or V, etc.
Today I installed the ICS from here:
http://www.blogotechblog.com/2012/01/how-to-install-ice-cream-sandwich-on-samsung-galaxy-gio-s5660/
Still same thing is happening. This ROM is one the one's in which the data turns itself off and on. It happens to frequent to be useable.
I've tried several of the more popular Gio ROM's.
I REALLY NEED SOME HELP HERE PLEASE.
I'm stumped!
Thanks!
So, just reverted back to STOCK and there have been no issues with data connection.
Why won't this thing work with any other ROM?
I've used popular ROM's that have NOT been known to have issues with the data connection.
I don't understand.

Check your model number against the base rom used to make the custom. For example, I have an SHW-M290K, so GT-S5560 roms cause bluetooth, wifi and sensors to not work.

Here's what I done (sounds like a real Redneck?)
Had to flash the original ROM back on it. Make sure that data connection worked...and it was ROCK SOLID...
WIPE EVERYTHING! Factory reset code *2767*3855#,
Flashed CWM for KANG's ICS ROM, flashed KANG's ICS ROM, wipe everything, (factory reset code doesn't seem to work in ICS).
Data was flakey for the 1st few minutes, but now seems to be ROCK SOLID.

Best advice for you better not to try things if your not sure because if you mess it up then it would be over. before you try something then you should KNOW the DO's and DONT's and you should know how to go back or FIX the problem at anytime.
well...there's FAQ thread here. we should ask any question there, not here. maybe you've seen that there're lot of user who didn't obey it. this is because they want to get a quick responses for their post. nevertheless, most of more experienced user will ignore this kind of post. there's no point asking a question here if you need an answer for an expert.
btw, I'll try to answer your question. kernel is a part of os which used by the program (or OS) to communicate with the hardware or the reverse. it also used to boot up and load the OS to the computer (or device). it controlling the app and the hardware behaviour and setting. the structure is kind of like this.
programs<-->kernel<-->hardware
for an instance, when you use a music player, the music player is transmit the digital data to the kernel, then the kernel send the data to speaker as analog data. the same principal works for another app. you'll need googles help if you want to know much more about kernel.
So can i change kernel on my stock rom dxlc1?can i use maroc?

There are a lot of current users of the Xperia S/Acro S/ Sola and a lot of new users coming through here aswell. There are also a lot of questions being asked time and time again, aswell as a lot of new users being flamed and/or trolled for asking a simple question. This is filling up our Q&A and Development forums with junk which doesn't need to be there.
Instead, just point them to this thread to get all the help they require, which in turn, lessens the clutter of the forums aswell.
If you're reading this and you're a new user to XDA, I suggest you read the XDA New User Guide by mf2112, as it contains all the information you'll need to have a happy and productive time across the whole of XDA.
And please be sure to read A Note From The Moderators and WHAT BELONGS IN DEVELOPMENT aswell.
Post #2 will include the rules which I'm putting in place for this thread, which I expect you all to abide to.
It may also include an FAQ of questions which get asked fairly often, yet don't have a specific thread to find the answer. (I'm still deciding on this idea yet though). It will also include some important links for you all to check out.
In post #3 you'll find the links to different ROMs and kernels for the Xperia S. Links provided by Felimenta97.
ASK ANY RELATED QUESTION HERE,bootloader, drivers, how to root etc...... You will either get an answer here or will be given the best thread for you to go to so you can get your answer.
Even if you find your answer from one of the links provided, please come back here and look through the other threads, as you may learn something else you didn't know.
No abuse towards noobs or silly questions is tolerated here!
This is a joint project to help us all out. Special thanks to Felimenta97 for being a part of this and providing all the links in post #3.
Special thanks to neectron for also being a part of this thread and helping out those who have questions about the Xperia Sola.
Special thanks to Spectre51 for also being a part of the help available in this thread.
Thanks to all of our developers and people who created those amazing threads to help us out and thanks to everyone who reads this thread
If this post has helped you, please click the "Thanks" button rather than actually saying thanks all the time. It reduces clutter
If there's any links that I missed which you think should be included, please let me know and tell me why you think it should be posted.
I will also be requesting thread maintenance as and when it is needed to remove any SPAM comments etc.
Please make sure you have read the whole of the first post before continuing to read this.
Whilst posting in this thread, please remember that the Forum Rules (post 2) apply as always.
*No calling anyone a noob
*No making fun of someone's genuine question
*No swearing - even using *'s or other symbols is still swearing, so don't do it
*No posting useless comments/off topic comments
*No posts saying "Thanks" (I won't be so harsh if you actually click the "Thanks" button aswell")
If you break these rules, I will contact our FSMs to get the comments removed.
You may think that these rules are a little bit strict, but this thread is aimed at being as useful as possible to all of us, so I'm sure we'd all prefer it if this thread was kept as tidy as possible.

Hi,
The xperia sspeed kernel v6 isn't guaranteed to work on stock ROMs, even though it does work with some.
If you're able to boot into recovery, flash the Advanced Stock ICS Kernel linked in this thread and it should work fine for you.

To use Sony programs again (not including MEDIA GO) you would have to relock your bootloader. But you can download the firmware you want and use Flashtool to flash it on your phone.
I will add later a link to a thread with the stock firmware.

Hi all
I just flashed Advanced Stock Kernel on my Xperia S today, after I had a problem 'cause I flashed DooMKernel over ICS. I was wondering if the advanced stock kernel was pre rooted, 'cause it came with super user installed, but isn't giving root access or super user permission to any apps (including busybox) infact, after I installed busybox, random pop ups kept saying that root access was being denied to various apps. (I had Titanium Backup*Root and busybox installed) I'm really new to all of this, and would appreciate any help at all
Oh and also, Juice Defender detected a root and Apex launcher now allows me to add widgets from the app drawer, which required root access, if I'm not wrong. I'm wondering if I went wrong somewhere..
Thanks again
Oh god, it's all on and off, I don't know what's happening.

I'd suggest installing Root Checker to make sure whether you are intact rooted or not.
If it says you're not rooted, then simply root your device and everything will be fine.
If it says you are rooted, there may possibly be something wrong with permissions.

Yeah, I tried Root Checker and it says that it's not intact. Also, the Apex launcher thing isn't working anymore (Adding widgets from the drawer, which needs root access)
But in Super User it says root permission granted to RootChecker and busybox, but like I said, the logs keep saying denied. So I'm not sure
I'd be really grateful if you can point me in the direction of a way to root my phone. I thought advanced stock kernel is rooted. Should I Flash KA S Speed kernel and flash Stock kernel again? I'm sorry if I sound stupid, this is my first Android...
Hey all, Sorry for the NOOB question here..
I've come over to a HTC OneV from a Desire Z.. On the DesireZ I had CWM installed and quite happy at installing customroms etc.. Currently my OneV (GSM) is still running stockRom, but it regularly hangs freezes so I thought id try an alternative rom...
Reading through the threads Im kinda confused.. and thought Id ask the experts.
1. On the DesireZ I used to use CWM to install roms, on many of these threads I see fastboot and cwm being mentioned... Am I correct in saying that you can use both? But fastboot is done from the PC , pushing the rom to the phone, whereas CWM is done on the phone itself???
2. The all-in-one tool looks awesome.. still valid?
3. On the desireZ page there was a nice list of "roms", ranked on when they were updated. With OneV, this list appears to be inaccurate.. Simply a case of needs to be updated ??
4. Id love to try CM10, but as I need to use the phone for work I need it to be reliable... is CM10 stable, Loirs rom look good..
Many thanks, Ill avoid asking the standard "Which is the best rom" as I know its horses for courses -)
Again thanks for the time.
Angelo
1.Fastboot is usually to flash a kernal as most roms require a certain kernal that isn't stock, if you want to flash a rom just use CWM,
2.Never tried it...
3.Different forums...Most roms are still in beta anyways,
4.It's good, still in beta but overall is very usable.
Ok bro,
Firstly u can install only kernels through pc,
u have to flash roms in recovery,
and secondly i tried cm10 it can't be used for everyday use,
i currently use cm9 rc3 which is great,i did try the tool kit, it works
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
thanks Guys,
Questions answered
I'll probably stick to either CM9 rc3, I know it well I might try the Suprimo rom as I do like some of the Sense stuff
m telling u cm9 is best

Hint taken
Hey cybervibin
As you noted in another thread I successfully rooted and installed CM9, although I did scare myself convinced that Id bricked it with the kernel.. it turns out that the instructions need to be a little clearer, in that you MUST flash the kernel, and then immediately flash Cm9, otherwise it will hang.. its strange that i didnt see this issue with my desireZ, i used the same kernel for over a year...
One feature which doesnt work too well is bluetooth headset, the stock rom works v. well here.. the phone rings and it automagically connects to the bluetooth headset and voice streams.. whereas at the moment, I need to
1. phone rings
2. answer it
3. then press (maybe and hold) button on the headset, then its ok..
this means there's about 3-4 seconds after the call comes in delay.. not a biggie but strange..
Also going from BT to handset/speaker works but not the otherway around...
Is this fixed in RC4??
Next is to find some of the Sense4.0 widgets I liked.. and install them here...
thanks again
Hey man,
See these are unofficial Roms they have their own kernels which is compatible only with that specific ROM....
SO after u fastboot the kernel given in that thread there is no problem,
and so far i have tested the Bluetooth feature it worked pretty fine,
u cant expect it to work perfectly cause its still under. Work,
u should post that problem in the cm9 problem thread
And no RC4 is a security fix u can see the details in the below link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906949
Click thanks if i helped

Hey, i want to root, flash a custom kernel and install a custom rom on my Xperia Arc. So far i have only unlocked the bootloader. Can someone refer me to threads of where i can proceed with root, flash a custom kernel and install a custom rom, that would be so great. I get so confused with all these threads and instructions.
Also if someone out here with a Arc / Arc S could give me some advice of good kernels and roms for my device that would also be great. Thanks.

You should try the ROM and kernel combinations yourself. Go to the development section, read a few of the ROM threads and try them out. Since everyone has different requirements for the ROM, there is no 'best ROM' out there that everyone can agree on.
If you're not sure about the instructions here, search on Google instead. They should have newbie guides there.

You do not need root to install custom firmware. Just flash the appropriate kernel for your rom then boot into cwm and flash rom.

Just get out. People who ask questions in General section should be instantly banned, that kind of retarded behavior creates chaos and it's a cancer of xda forums. Actual answer: read sticky threads, you will find there everything you need and if you have problems with following guides then there is no hope for you just buy an iphone.

Just get out. People who replies with these kind of answers in a thread about a guy who simply wants someone to refer him to a simple recommended root, kernel flash and custom rom guide, should be instantly banned. Look at the other two answers and maybe you have somewhat of an idea of how to send a reply with a proper answer. What's so wrong about posting this in a General section about Xperia Arc? Please refer me to the rules regarding that, if so, then i have clearly missed something.
Well i can't really blame you, i guess it's that time of the month, right?
Hi bro !
- First, give your phone a good full charge and let's go !
- If your bootloader is unlocked flash Lupus v16, you'll find it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867265
In this kernel, CWM is included.
- Then download an ICS ROM (ICS needed with this kernel). There is a huge number of ROM on DEV section, just download the one you prefer ! (Personally, I recommend you jader13254's one  --> look at my signature :good: You'll find it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920207)
- Put the zip on your SD card and boot into CWM (by pressing VOL DOWN during boot)
- Do full wipes (data + factory reset + format /system + battery stats)
- Install the ROM (install zip --> Choose from SD card --> ROM.zip)
- Reboot twice !
And enjoy your BRAND NEW PHONE !!!
Hope I helped you !

THANK you so much!
I followed exactly what you wrote, but instead of flashing Lupus v16 i went with the Vengeance kernel and the ROM you recommended. It works wonders, thanks again

Stock ICS was so laggy, i couldn't stand it anymore. Now it feels like a whole new phone, love it But which ROM would you personally recommend between Viper and Ultimate HD? I've tested them both and it's very hard to pick one :/
Up to you, if my memory is correct viper is more customisable, uhd gives better performance ( subjective) but theyre both great.
And btw, yeah these threads go in Q&A, not the general section...

Everything. What's the point in having a separate sections for different kinds of threads when people just don't give a **** about this? When I want to help people I go to Q&A and when I need a custom kernel I go to Development section, this feels logical. People who can't keep their posts in the right place create a mess which is frustrating and gives moderators extra work. If you keep your milk in a drawer and bread in a refrigerator then good luck with your life.

I see your point, well excuse me then. Honestly i didn't even see that section, even though it's right below General. I just registered and was in a hurry and I just picked the a section that made most sense to post in apart from Q&A. On top of that, i'm new here as well, i dont know my way around yet, of what's allowed and what's not allowed apart from the rules. But that's probably not an excuse here. Actually, sometimes i keep both in the refrigerator and my life is going pretty well.

Well, it's up to you ! Personally, I'm using Ultimate HD and I love this ROM ! Viper is also good !
Choose the one you prefer ! In my opinion, use Ultimate HD for performance and Viper for UI and personalization !
And if you're tired of one of them, change it to the other !

Ported!!
If you want a pure stock based Android, try to flash CM10.1 for your Arc: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147958
Flash the kernel (boot.img) using Flashtool or you can also use this for flashing kernels and unlocking/relocking bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613
HEY! just forgot something to tell you before you flash custom roms:
Before trying to use any roms, flash this Arc S firmware: https://hotfile.com/dl/167361348/43349db/LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716).ftf.html
to your device using Flashtool.
-It's safe!
-It will increase your System ROM memory to enable installation of JB roms completely.
-EDIT-
Here's a screenshot that will help you to flash the ArcS firmware pack, give credits to him

Mmmm... as of now the Build0722: http://legacyxperia.basketbuild.com/index.php?dir=main/cm10.1/anzu/nightlies/
Is just fine, no lags and the bug of random reboots have been fixed (Tested on my friend's Arc) It's much better if you'll partitioned your SD card and have a Link2SD on it
-EDIT-
ICS and JB 4.1 is ALOT stable than the JB 4.2 right now cause some parts of camera is not partially working correctly in 4.2 (Sorry I forgot to told u bout that)
Here you can try FreeXperiaProject's CM10 for Anzu: http://www.freexperiaproject.com/
Stable enough for daily use but I think FM Radio is still not working there (Correct me if I'm wrong, not sure about it)
