So right now, it's not completely bricked.
It's a branded (Three Ireland) DHD, and after attempting to downgrade the phone, it's been constantly stuck at the operator logo (prior to the HTC logo) and won't go any further than that , even after leaving it for a good few hours. The only thing at the moment that can save it (that I'm aware of) is through an RUU.
What I've noticed is that after the attempted downgrade, the cidnum isn't the appropriate one for my network. According to this, it's the UK version instead of the Irish one which is H3G 003.
So after doing some reading, this guide showed me how to edit the androidinfo text file in rom.zip. Unfortunately, everytime I try to save to the archive, it says the archive is corrupt. So I unzipped it, edited it and repacked it. Then I followed that guide to a T (but of course, with a DHD appropriate ROM: RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.36.405.8_R_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_187331_signed) yet I'm getting

INFO Signature fails relate to your sd card. Get a new one.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
Ah, brilliant. Well, an SD card isn't inserted into it because the previous one I had was causing the bootloader to freeze D:
Gonna try this now and post updates :3
So, the SD card's gone missing *stares at cat*... and I've yet to buy a new one, which won't be for a week or two. How do I get past that error?

As you are still S-ON or you get your RUU or unfortunately you will need a goldcard to flash a different RUU....try borrowing a not corrupted sdcard just to make the goldcard.

It's S-ON still. Though first time I've been home in 2 days so, I'll see if I can obtain an SD card from friends somehow, thanks :3
There is a H3G UK RUU here:
http://www.filefactory.com/f/efa28fefafc4af9c/
Not sure if this is the one you need or not.
Managed to borrow an SD card from a friend, gold carded it and successfully unbricked and rooted the device!
Thanks a lot guys!
which is exactly what you were told to do in the previous as you say "messy" thread

Hey guys,
I downgraded the 2.10 hboot on my Evo to .76, and I have done this countless times in the past on other Evo's. This one has turned out to be different. It only enters hboot and RUU mode. I ran several RUU's and it fails, which led me to find out that it has bad blocks due to the previous partitions being different stock. I am unaware of a way to repair bad blocks...Just thought I would double check.
BTW, only a few partitions will flash. The others have bad blocks and will fail, including hboot. I wanted to send this thing to HTC but with the hboot being ENG I don't think it'll help too much...
Any suggestions?

Sent by breaking the sound barrier
Ok I just tried flashing all the partitions I could find an image for. The only ones to successfully flash without an 'image update error' was microp and nv.
I ran 'fastboot oem partition_test' and it spit out so many bad blocks it would be ridiculous to post here.
Do fastboot boot recovery.img

RA recovery reboots to black screen, stock recovery does nothing.
You might have to bring it in man. Im running low on ideas.

No. The phones are done. Next time please read my post from a year ago before you try downgrading your Hboot before another phone gets burned.

My HTC One X (Endeavour, UK version - stock, as far as I'm aware) refuses to update OTA. It's currently claiming to be on 4.0.3 but checking for updates claims nothing is available when there should be plenty of updates since this. I've tried both through Three and GiffGaff to rule out a crappy provider not having the updates.
Does anyone know why this is happening? And if something odd may be interfering, what it may be and how to revert it?
It's driving me mad.
Thanks.

it's not showing your cid, go on play store and get the app called "cid getter" then tell me what your cid is, or do you already know?

@Enverex there you go, get one of the ruu's @Mr Hofs has just mentioned from here>>>>>http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Endeavor
Thanks. I downloaded that app and apparently the CID is HTC__001.
Unbranded
Christ this is tedious.
First I had error 170 USB Connection error. Managed to resolve that.
Then 171 USB Connection error. Got around that.
Now I'm on 132 Signarure (yes, not signature) error.
It's mandatory to install the 2.17.401 ruu first with a relocked bootloader. The 3.14 ruu won't work now beecause you come from a to low hboot

I can't post links, I don't have enough posts apparently. It was named "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed".
I downloaded "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed" from another site and that went through successfully, but I've just tried "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed" again and I'm still getting a signature error. Any ideas?

Since youve got S-OFF this hopefully shouldnt be too hard to fix. Follow the instructions here to flash 4ext recovery using a PB99IMG. Then go into recovery, full wipe, and flash a rom.
Thanks.... any other idea about a rom

Hi I have a htc one v on 3 (H3G__001) it is on hboot 1.18.0000 radio 3831.19.00.120
I cant seem to find a ruu file for it even on androidfileshost.
all other ruu files fail at one point or another usually due ro wrong CID or older HBOOT
I have tried running a ruu with the correct hboot then when it got to the confirmation page i types %.temp% and found where the temp
install files were and i opened the rom.zip and edited the android-info.txt file adding H3G__001 to the file saving it and rezipping it then
continuing with the RUU installation.
Im hoping someone can help me recover the phone as im stuck in how to get it back working.
It is my fault as I locked the bootloader when returning to stock BEFORE I flashed the recovery and hboot (I know im an idiot) and htcdev wont unlock my relocked bootloader it just freezes then eventually gives me the "too many links" error message

And, are you primou or primoc?
No sadly its not on there as only for older hboots for my phone. there is 1.18.000 hboots on there but not to match my cid.
Im on primou with 3 uk which is H3G__001
Hi there, A friend at work has given me his M8 which appears to be stuck in recovery mde t see if i can get it back to working or can do anything with it.
I have samsung phones myself and while i know how to flash a stck rom etc to these, reading on some of the threads here it seems alot more complicated process on the HTC....
I have not had any experiencewith HTC devices since the HD2 days (what a great phone) so really need someone to walk me through what software/firmware i need and where to find it and what to do with it?
At the moment, it turns on, then goes into the recovery menu, then I choose wipe data/cache, and restore factory etc, but it then just comes up with done, choose the reboot option to come back to the recovery mode again........
I think it is a stock uk/eu release of the M8, don't know what network it was on or whether it was rooted/unlocked before hand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
In the recovery menu I believe there is reboot to bootloader option. Select that, then tell us what's written on the bootloader
Search on how to do fastboot getvar all then post the result without serial & imei no.
Then we'll see anything we can offer to help
