.76 Hboot Issues - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I downgraded the 2.10 hboot on my Evo to .76, and I have done this countless times in the past on other Evo's. This one has turned out to be different. It only enters hboot and RUU mode. I ran several RUU's and it fails, which led me to find out that it has bad blocks due to the previous partitions being different stock. I am unaware of a way to repair bad blocks...Just thought I would double check.
BTW, only a few partitions will flash. The others have bad blocks and will fail, including hboot. I wanted to send this thing to HTC but with the hboot being ENG I don't think it'll help too much...
Any suggestions?

do
Code:
fastboot getvar all
and reply with it here (all the bootloader information)

Ok. Tell me exactly what partitions flash
Sent by breaking the sound barrier

Ok I just tried flashing all the partitions I could find an image for. The only ones to successfully flash without an 'image update error' was microp and nv.
I ran 'fastboot oem partition_test' and it spit out so many bad blocks it would be ridiculous to post here.

Do fastboot boot recovery.img

RA recovery reboots to black screen, stock recovery does nothing.

You might have to bring it in man. Im running low on ideas.

Any luck on this? I am facing same problem. Have you been able to solve it?

No. The phones are done. Next time please read my post from a year ago before you try downgrading your Hboot before another phone gets burned.

So right now, it's not completely bricked.
It's a branded (Three Ireland) DHD, and after attempting to downgrade the phone, it's been constantly stuck at the operator logo (prior to the HTC logo) and won't go any further than that , even after leaving it for a good few hours. The only thing at the moment that can save it (that I'm aware of) is through an RUU.
What I've noticed is that after the attempted downgrade, the cidnum isn't the appropriate one for my network. According to this, it's the UK version instead of the Irish one which is H3G 003.
So after doing some reading, this guide showed me how to edit the androidinfo text file in rom.zip. Unfortunately, everytime I try to save to the archive, it says the archive is corrupt. So I unzipped it, edited it and repacked it. Then I followed that guide to a T (but of course, with a DHD appropriate ROM: RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.36.405.8_R_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_187331_signed) yet I'm getting

Ah, brilliant. Well, an SD card isn't inserted into it because the previous one I had was causing the bootloader to freeze D:
Gonna try this now and post updates :3
So, the SD card's gone missing *stares at cat*... and I've yet to buy a new one, which won't be for a week or two. How do I get past that error?

As you are still S-ON or you get your RUU or unfortunately you will need a goldcard to flash a different RUU....try borrowing a not corrupted sdcard just to make the goldcard.

It's S-ON still. Though first time I've been home in 2 days so, I'll see if I can obtain an SD card from friends somehow, thanks :3
There is a H3G UK RUU here:

Not sure if this is the one you need or not.
Managed to borrow an SD card from a friend, gold carded it and successfully unbricked and rooted the device!
Thanks a lot guys!
which is exactly what you were told to do in the previous as you say "messy" thread

Assuming you mean Recovery from the menu, it just reboots back to the HTC Incredible splash screen.
I had a friend's dinc here that acted like that. He did not have it rooted (it was running stock 2.3.4), and usb debugging was not enabled, so it was a bit of a tough nut to crack. We wiped it several times, I installed an RUU, but it just stayed stuck in the bootloop. In his case, the internal storage had gotten messed up, and some of the partitions were just gone. I ended up unlocking the bootloader via htcdev, as that was the only way to get any kind of root level access to the thing. From there, (using the now unlocked fastboot), I could flash clockworkmod recovery and boot into that. Due to the botched partitions, I still couldn't flash any .zip's from recovery, but it did give me root access via adb. From there, I was able to make the changes necessary to run the downgrade to Froyo, per the 'downgrade and s-off' guide. It was the downgrade to Froyo that got the thing booting again, though the internal storage is still messed up. Apparently, Froyo is small enough to fit inside whatever partition his dinc has decided to call 'system', though he hardly has any room to install apps now. I was able to install su via adb, so though he's now running a crippled dinc on Froyo, at least it's rooted.
I know that story probably doesn't help you a whole lot, except that maybe unlocking the bootloader using htcdev and installing a custom recovery that way might give you the access you need to fully wipe your dinc and get it going again.
Edit: Here;s the downgrade and s-off guide with instructions for unlocking hboot, if you decide to go that route:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258
Another edit: Oops, you're already s-off, so you should have lots of options here. I missed that earlier...

Well, If what they suggested does not work (it should) about 6months ago my incredible was stuck in a boot loop so I took out the battery, discharged the whole unit (take the battery out and hold the power button this will insure there is absolutely no electrical current) and stuck all of it in my freezer for 30mins..haha sounds crazy but Ive done it on 3 different HTC phones. Works EVERY TIME

[Q] Stuck on Android 4.0.3

My HTC One X (Endeavour, UK version - stock, as far as I'm aware) refuses to update OTA. It's currently claiming to be on 4.0.3 but checking for updates claims nothing is available when there should be plenty of updates since this. I've tried both through Three and GiffGaff to rule out a crappy provider not having the updates.
Does anyone know why this is happening? And if something odd may be interfering, what it may be and how to revert it?
It's driving me mad.
Thanks.

Christ this is tedious.

Then 171 USB Connection error. Got around that.
Now I'm on 132 Signarure (yes, not signature) error.
It's mandatory to install the 2.17.401 ruu first with a relocked bootloader. The 3.14 ruu won't work now beecause you come from a to low hboot

I downloaded "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.17.401.2_Radio_2.1204.135.20_release_274900_signed" from another site and that went through successfully, but I've just tried "RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.14.401.31_R_Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_302015_signed" again and I'm still getting a signature error. Any ideas?

Thanks.... any other idea about a rom

Is this were it stops?
No one has any idea to what it could be, no need for an absolute solution, a mere possible or a reflection as to what I could have done wrong would be appreciated.
LOL
What can i say to you?
As you stated on very first post of yours where you mentioned that your device is S-OFF? then why "INFOsecurity: on" ??
Simply flash any custom rom then extract boot.img from that custom rom .zip file and flash it through fastboot using command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Afterwards it should boot normally. Recovery has no issue nor given rom as you've mentioned on your post. Just requires boot.img to be flashed as your device is S-ON! not S-OFF.
I read a little sarcasm in that LOL
Thanks for the valuable info, I will attempt that as soon as I get home.
I will give feedback as to how successful my attempt has been.
I have attempted the proposed solution and I got the following error:
failed (remote: signature verify fail)
I read that could have to do with the fact that my bootloader is locked again. I did run a while back fastbood oem lock.
oem unlock returns an error.
So I attempted with the htcdev unlock code.bin again and unlocked it.
I ran the boot.img as instructed again and this time it was a success although it gave me a scare with the 4 reboots it performed
Thanks for the help, the tip from dr.patron99 was very helpful.
