Got a nice little MotoACTV? Love to workout with it? But can't figure out how to export your data from MotoACTV.com to, say Runkeeper.com?
Well, good news.
I've just published a new HealthGraph App to do just that.
[deleted]
You can also find it through the Runkeeper Apps:
[deleted]
Yes that's a strange site name. If I get enough subscribers I'll get a better domain, in the mean time it is what it is.
Once you are at the site, you have to connect to press the "Connect to Runkeeper" button and follow the Open Authentication process. None of your Runkeeper account information is posted to redsneaker.us. And my server doesn't store any data from your profile, it is all embedded in the encrypted session key in your browser cookie.
You will then see a table showing your most recent Runkeeper Activities (so you can make sure you're not posting duplicates).
Next, you will have to supply your MotoACTV login credentials. MotoACTV doesn't have a public API and doesn't have an Open Authentication process. However, your credentials are not stored on the site, simply included in the encrypted session information. The down side of this is you will have to supply them each time you connect.
Once you have successfully connected you will see a list of your MotoACTV workouts and next to each a button labeled 'Send to Runkeeper'. Just press the button, and in a few seconds your workout data will be posted to Runkeeper in a new Activity, including your GPS track and heartrate data.
Currently only "Running" workouts are supported, though you can just edit the activity in Runkeeper. I'll be adding support for other activities soon.
If you like it, please become Runkeeper Elite through the link on my site. Or you can donate to me, but I think you'd be happy with the additional value of being Runkeeper Elite.
For those who do become Elite through my site I will enable a daemon to monitor your MotoACTV workouts and automatically post a Runkeeper Activity when a new workout is posted. This will allow you to use the MotoACTV using stock software and a few minutes after the MotoACTV automatically posts your data to MotoACTV.com your data will also appear on Runkeeper as a new activity! Simple!
Please also understand this site is not in a polished state yet, I haven't made any effort to work on the CSS (stye), and didn't want to delay access to the technical bits while trying to make it flashy. At the end of the day, my goal is for you to not need to access my site anyway, just go directly to Runkeeper.
5 Sep 2012: Fixed a bug in the temp file handling, was causing some workouts to fail with "internal server error".
Sep 2016: My app and site have been permanently retired. Too much work and cost to keep it up purely as a service to humanity. Thanks for your interest!
+1 for Strava
Strava doesn't look that difficult. I've looked at their API and it's a pretty easy REST site. Unfortunately they don't do OAUTH, so you'd have to supply credentials, just like the MotoACTV. But I think I may use Strava as a test case for ensuring the middle layer in my code is site independent.
an output for runtastic.com would be also great!!!
Another vote for STRAVA
I've tried the App a few times now and it's excellent. It would be nice to import as "cycling" as well but it's no problem changing it on the runkeeper site after import. Thanks again for your work.
I hope you do an output to Strava next. It has one killer feature that beats runkeeper - "Segments". Give it a try and you'll see what I mean, it's highly addictive.
I have been manually exporting my Motoactv data into Strava for a while and it works very well but would love an App to do it for me.
Missing workouts?
First , congrats for your app! It works perfect from the first time!
Just a question: I only could upload runs from 8/8 until today. But I have recorded, exercises from 16/7 and aren't listed. Is there a way to request these runs , so I can upload to Runkeeper?
It loads one month of MotoACTV workouts. I meant to add navigation buttons to get to earlier ones, but didn't want to hold up release for it. Soon...
+1 good work.
sounds like a really cool idea keep getting internal server error, have tried at work and on my home machine but when i go to sync my motoactv account it just says internal server error 500, anyone else getting this message?
Hi, was there any further progress on the strava upload. It would be amazing. Thanks.
If it is possible to download workouts from the MOTOACTV-Portal it should be also possible to upload data???
This gave the possibility upload tracks and sync them with the MOTOACTV to follow the tracks.

The error 500 comes from a resource not found, and it actually is generated due to an authentication issue with MotoACTV. Unfortunately since the offending authentication data is stored in your browser session cookie, it can't be cleared without removing the session cookie.
How to delete cookies depends on your browser, but it's usually somewhere inside the privacy settings. Delete all the cookies for leeloo.doesntexist.com and try reconnecting, but make sure you have the right username and password.
Hint: the username should be an email address. Yeah, I could add code to verify you're using a proper username... But I haven't had spare time to throw at the MotoACTV in a while.
Let me know if this takes care of the issue.
Just became Elite!
This is the answer to my dreams. Thanks!
I just registered for 1 year of Runkeeper Elite through the affiliate link on the site.
How do I set it up to auto - upload my Motoactv runs to Runkeeper? Do you have to enable that manually?
Great site one bug
I joined run keeper thru your site I like what your doing however all my activities are imported with 7773.70 miles I would love to run this but I'm struggling with 4 miles

Sometimes I have the same error.
Do you have the possibility to package the import process available from your website into a android application ?
Because If your website will be offline, the import from Motoactv to runkeeper don't be possible.
Thk for your job.
Server been having issues lately? All i get when I try to push not is 500 errors.
I hope it gets fixed. I absolutely love this app.

I only have that problem if I don't have a GPS lock for the entire run. Make sure your GPS is solid and it'll work.
I just got a motoactv and want to know if this is still being supported and in active development. Thanks!
I'm not able to connect to the site anymore, either via the direct link or through the RunKeeper site. Is this project all finished, or can we hold out hope that it will be back up & running? Thanks.

First of all, a disclaimer I am in no way affiliated with this company.
I just thought to let you know about the fact that I found a company who offers FREE MS Exchange hosting, with 1GB (!) mail storage, with push email for WM5.
After I flashed my unit yesterday, I bumped to this on Google. I signed up, and it seem to work fine. The only catch so far is, that they offer some ads in the webmail, and you cannot access it via POP, but other than that its fully functional. And there seem to be no ads sent to your mobile. (So far)
Its here: http://live.mail2web.com/
Offcourse, you still need to have GPRS data on your phone account, but this is usually much cheaper than to get a blackberry service. At least in Europe it is.
Regards,
Bela
Did you intend to offer up what the name of the service was?
NEVERMIND THIS POST. I was reading too fast. LOL
I think the only negative to mail2web's push mail service is that your email will have to be [email protected], if you want your current email address you'd have to upgrade to a charged account. http://mail.port88.org is an alternative that does provide email masking, you would have to forward your mail to your port88 account. www.emoze.com is another provider, you simply download the software to your pc and phone and it syncs between the two. I haven't tried any myself , you can read the thread on Port88 http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-273878.html. Hope this helps
You can forward all mails from your existing mailbox to go to the mail2web.com account as well.
You can even setup, that the mail2web account fetches your pop or imap mailboxes for you, but only once per hour i think.
I use the forward, that way I have my incoming mails kept in my original pop mailbox, and just auto forward a copy to the mail2web acc.
Regards,
Bela
There was one software which I hoped I could get running on the smartphone, as that was Pocket IRC. I tried and tried (even with SPHelper, there's an adjust option that makes it appear) but no amount of workarounds got it running. I need my DCC, err I want, rather.
Just installed emoze seems to be working very well, will check my GPRS usage online tom to see if used much data through the night, has a built in data counter but want to know over all data.
Will post findings as seems to be a good push mail client.
Please do I'm very interested in your results.

Well got it all set up but couldn't send mail via client, mind you was silly o'clock i was trying to work it out and my i.s.p online billing off so no way to find out GPRS usage, so will try and get it set up correctly today and see if GPRS usage available, then give you low down.

To be hoest i'm rather dubious about data as it has to connect o there server before push and always keep the GPRS connection active...
That's somewhat discouraging. Hmm well I'll have to check it out myself and see if I want my default or what have you
So did you ever end up getting the data usage, as I am just curious to find out how much it uses?

Edit: given up as must have messed something up on install as evrytime i go to send it kicks the server off, tryed to reinstall but residue left over so i'm giving up as i can't be bothered, worth a try but then maybe instructions on web and having a proper uninstall would help..
Essential Software
Well, I am sure this is a common question with any new phone. I have been trying to transfer some of the applications such as Pocket Plus, MS Streets, etc. from my sister's PPC and I have been unable to do so due to incompatibility. What software do you guys recommend that is compatible for the Dash?
I would like an e-mail software that works over Wi-Fi rather than T-Zones. I do not have the data service from T-Mobile but am constantly covered by Wi-Fi from my school.
In addition, I would like something that would keep my finances in check. I had a software called SplashMoney for the Palm that would synchronize with my bank account everytime I AutoSynched so that my account would automatically be updated. Anything like that for the Dash?
Finally, I am wondering if there is a MS Streets program for the Dash? As a new resident of Boston, I am constantly getting lost in this web of streets. Something to guide me from A to B would be essential.
Thanks again guys...
Using the e-mail on the dash will use the WiFi if you have a WiFi connection. Make sure your e-mail is setup to connect using "The Internet" and it will use WiFi and if you don't it will use T-Zones.
However I would wait for someone else to confirm what I'm saying just to be safe.
Good to hear. Do you know exactly how to set that up?
What e-mail domain are you wanting to setup?
What do you mean by domain? I am using my school's e-mail service with the following information.
pop.ufl.edu
smtp.ufl.edu

Use this to help you setup your account.
Hmm in that case, you may browse around on your schools website and look for directions on how to setup pop3 e-mail programs with your schools e-mail service.
There are a lot of online resources for you to look into, maybe start with http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx -- take a look at sites like http://www.handango.com to get an idea of the software available. Sounds like you're used to homework, you have some more now
Wow guys, thanks. The e-mail is working perfectly. I wish it had the ability of setting up 2 outgoing servers within the same account so that you could just choose what account you'd like to send from, like Outlook on the computer. But having 2 separate accounts isn't too bad.
Thanks again guys.
Voice Recorder
I see a Voice Notes program on the Dash, which will record both sides of a conversation for 60 seconds during a phone call.
However, when you try the Voice Recorder application located in the Accessories folder, it doesn't allow you to record during a phone call. The record option is simply unresponsive. But, as soon as the call ends (even when you are still in the app), you're allowed to record.
My question -- if someone knowledgable about these things would be so gracious enough to answer -- is this: Could there be a registry entry that allows you to record during conversations?
Just poking around I found a binary for: HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/Recorder
I have no idea what it's for. Maybe this can't be done? Thanks in advance.
(p.s. I know there are legal implications about this in certain states, etc. with notifying the other party. But sometimes when you're on the phone in a place you can't take notes and you're receiving directions, important info, phone numbers, etc. it would be so nice to simply say "hold on a sec, i wan't to record this.")
Voice Notes as the name implies is for taking voice notes, not for recording a conversation.
Vocal data going through the modem is not handled by this application.
That would actually be a good idea. Having directions recorded would be a major life saver. I'm sure someone will be able to tweak around it.
Just use this instead: http://1800message.com/SPWM5CallRec.cab
website for free downloads for dash
does anybody know a good website where i can download free programs for the days? thanks in advance

www.dashsmartzone.com.

this will work on ur phone...

thats weird, cuz when i tried downloading them, none of those programs would work? do i have to do something first?
I am using Exchange server for work email and use LockPicker to get by the constant entering of a security code to un-lock the phone. Not sure I should load 2.2 because the developer has informed me that LockPicker will not work with 2.2. If anybody is running 2.2 and Exchange server, does 2.2 offer an option of the screen time out vs. the exchange lockout????
Im running exchange and have to enter the code if the phone sleeps for more than 15 minutes. The time is adjustable, plus the code entry keyboard is huge not a problem to enter at all, overall its a minor pain but workable. The guys that developed lockpicker have an app out that disables this, it is only in the beta stage now and not released to the general public but should be soon.
if found that any of my end users were attempting to disable/bypass the Exchange security...i would haul their ass to HR faster than they could enter their PIN.

He He, I'm thinking if I were an IT guy i'd do that too. Lucky for me I'm an end user, I'm hoping somebody comes up with a way to just toggle the time to a longer value say options for 30 - 60 minutes. In reality the new code entry screen is a breeze to use, not such a big deal as before. I'm just wondering if the time delayed is specified by the Exchange server or if it is built into the phone app.

I haven't played with it yet, but pray there is no way for my end users to set a 60min lockout period. that's just waaaaaay too long. how long do you have before your work desktop auto-locks? 15min? and that is for a device that doesn't move and if anyone else is at it would draw attention.
perhaps you feel that you are not important on the food chain and have nothing important in your email. but as these type devices get more powerful folks keep more data on them... pictures, movies, xls, doc, mp3 etc. plus tons of email (with email addresses, names and numbers), some folks will setup the VPN function and map network folders or setup VNC/RDC connections (server names, ip addresses and domain name).
it's not "JUST" that someone may see who you're going to lunch with or that your racquetball game got rescheduled. its all that other crap that concerns us. stuff that you may or may not have. for things that you probably don't see as being a possible security breach. sorry if this has an overbearing tone, it's one of those things i have to beat into folks head everyday.

Solution here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745065
Hi all - I have an extremely busy week and a half ahead of me so I've spent much of the day (which is about all the time I can afford for the foreseeable future) searching for answers but haven't had much luck with some of my questions. I have not had a mobile Windows device since WinMo 6.1 or so, the last few years I have maintained Android phones and tablets all of the machines I service for work are mostly WinXP & Win7...in other words, "I'm a newb" in the world of Windows RT. I won a new 32Gb RT this week and I'm trying to incorporate it into everyday life but not having much luck. I've updated the firmware and checked system updates until it was no longer finding updates after each restart. I've also checked the app store and it shows everything as being installed with no updates.
1) One major issue I'm having is that the "What's new" section in the People app does not update. I've connected my Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts numerous times and the tablet tells me that things are syncing and it may take a few minutes but nothing ever shows up. The accounts do not show up under Options\Accounts either. Any suggestions as to my next step? I've also noticed that the Twitter app I downloaded from the store will not start, it shows the splash screen for the app but then goes back to 'Start.'
2) I've attempted to install some apps that initially showed errors during installation. Those apps do not appear in my "all apps" list but if I go to them in the store it says 'I own the app' and there is no option to install. As I said, this happened with a couple apps but did one specific example is with 'Evernote Touch.' Is the app store somehow showing me apps that aren't compatible with RT?
I appreciate any help or suggestions offered, it seems like this is a fantastic piece of hardware but either I am lost or there is a disconnect somewhere with the software.
1) People hub is kinda slow when it comes to updates - when I connected to twitter, it showed me people who I follow only the second time I opened it, and it was after some time. But it showed right away that I connected twitter in the upper right corner, so if it's not showing there, it's probably not connected. If they are, try waiting and rebooting. Apps that just fail to launch may launch on the second, third, n-th launch, Evernote is always failing to launch for the first time, for example.
2) When the app isn't compatible with RT, you can't install it. Also, you can remove apps, that aren't shown by this script from ms. There is also a troubleshooter for windows store from ms, but I don't remember if it works with RT, but you probably should try using it. Evernote touch is not only compatible with RT, it was written especially for it, so there's a problem with your device.

Hmmmm... Sounds like you need to refresh. I know it's a bummer, but that's the best I can think of. That kind of stuff shouldn't be happening. Otherwise you could always exchange it when you get a chance. Good Luck!
Hi guys, I'm sorry for the delayed response. I viewed your posts a few days ago and apparently I forgot to respond. The issue was apparently the fact that Google and MS are not playing nicely. Even after I wasn't seeing any new updates the system was still sluggish, maybe it was "settling" as is sometimes required in the Android world. I powered down and charged over night, restarted the next morning and made sure the wifi was connected and within a few hours there were more updates showing up. I updated and that's when my Google accounts quit working and I had to remove then set them up again. I also found the Evernote app hidden within "my apps" in the store app, it was "awaiting install," seems like an update restarted the system while it was installing and it didn't want to finish on it's own.
Everything is great now except for the calendar issue and a few everyday apps that seem to be lacking from the app store. I have yet to figure a work to be able to view my Google Apps calendar for work. I can see my regular Google calendar (can not edit but can see everything) but if I subscribe to my GApps calendar I would only be able to see free/busy because my domain does not provide an option for private calendar sharing.
Thanks again!

Try this, even though its a long shot: open Google Calendar, and browse to Calendar > Calendar settings (via the small cog in the top-right corner) > Calendars > "YOUR NAME" > Scroll down to where it says PRIVATE ADDRESS, and click on the ICAL button. Copy the following link. Now go to calendar.live.com, and click on subscribe (above the "month" button). Paste the URL there, name it, and save! Now check to see if your Hotmail calendar syncs on the app.
That works great for my personal Google account but does not work on my Google Apps account for work. I could subscribe to it but only see free/busy, not detailed information, as our company admin has not turned on private addresses. I understand this is an admin issue and not really a fault of the RT.
The fault lies in the fact that even with my subscribed calendar if I tried to edit something it would only be seen on the Surface. It would not replicate to the actual Google calendar and I would not be able to see it on my other devices. This issue stems from the Google/MS war regarding information sharing. My life is on Google because for a long time MS was light years behind the ease of Google's online features where everything can be done from the browser and then synced to your email client and handheld devices. In this instance, the users who spend good money with both Google and MS on hardware/OS are paying the price.
Thanks for your suggestion C-Lang, I appreciate your time and effort.
My phone was infected with stalkerware, they had access to my files, could view what was on my screen, listen into my mic, view my cameras remotely, everything! It's incredibly creepy! From what I can tell they somehow loaded q hacked version of Google Chrome and or android web viewer. After getting suspicious I downloaded Kaspersky and ran a scan, I found 2 versions of Google Chrome on my phone one of them had the dual messenger app icon on it. The other one said it wasn't a current version from the apps store. I Uninstallerd and downloaded the current version through the app store. I tried to see if a packet sniffer would lead me to them but I think I was too late by that point. I also pulled the Chrome app qnd decompiler it. There was some weird things in there like ignore playstore version but nothing that I could find that would lead me to who was watching me. Is there anything I can still do that will lead me to who did this? I have a strong idea of who it was but need evidence so I can prosecute them. Any help would be appreciated. Im putting up a 500 dollar bounty if anyone can help me get some solid evidence.

Im putting up a 500 dollar bounty if anyone can help me get some solid evidence.

Try logging into your Google account from a computer. Look at what devices have access to your account. I looked at mine a couple of months ago and saw a phone I never owned on AT&T. Funny thing is I have NEVER had AT&T. I've always and still have Verizon. I immediately removed, blocked and reported the device.

Did you run a log of your IP addresses?

Not until after the connection was severed. My first thought was to run a virus scan. The only thing I found was an application was installed feb 1st and the clean version of chrome stopped uploading on Feb 1st.
Why are there two of these? And how did they use dual messenger to install doubles? I've disabled all of them.

Did you delete the corrupt Chrome already? The IP history may be in there...
you wish to find your IP address Internet history, you can easily do so directly from your Internet browser.
Step 1
Open your Internet browser, and click on "Tools" located in the horizontal menu bar at the top of the window.
Step 2
Click on "Internet Options"
Step 3
Click on "Settings" located beneath the "Browsing History" subheading.
Step 4
Click on the "View Files" button to find your IP address Internet history.
If you post the chrome apk that you dumped or anything else that you have that was related to the "infected" files, they might be helpful in looking for clues.
These are the apk files that I suspect could have been infected. Unfortunately I didn't pull them until after they were updated. But I believe there is still a change log kind of manifest if you decompile them.
On mobile? Im not seeing those options

From what I can see, those apks unfortunately appear to be normal un-tampered files. The manifest I believe you are referring to is a component of the apk that dictates things like permissions and interfaces, but it does not perform any sort of logging or historical record sadly, as the entire apk is replaced when an app is updated or installed over an existing installation.
I am not sure how much cleaning you have done of your device since it happened, but aside from clues or records which might be available from various services you use (finding connected accounts that aren't yours, history of any account activities that weren't initiated by you, etc), your next best bet would probably be to dig through the files on the device in search of anything that shouldn't be there. Hopefully there is still some artifact of the infection which could potentially point towards its origin. I will follow this thread, happy to dig through files in my spare time.
Does anyone know if android keeps a log of installs or qnything in the root folder perhaps?
Isn't there a relation between duplicate app instances and secure folder?

Yes but I've never set up secure folder. Never felt a need to.
First thing I do is a factory reset (and hope that gets it) and reset the Google password.
Keep that bloody device 100% isolated from your PC and data backup copies including the SD card*. Wipe the SD card in the device before the reload and again after the reload. Do NOT connect the card or phone to your PC before the new load is proven clean. Load data directly to SD card from the PC then to the 10+ just in case.
Try to piece together when and what did it but that is a secondary concern. Consider it a drill.
Better get while the gettings good... that level of being compromised means no time to lose ditching the OS. I most likely wipe the SD card too and use one of the clean data backups I keep for just such an event. Torch all data on the device.
If it gets into your backup data copies you're boned.
OSs are 100% expendable, critical data is not.
*you can scan it with everything on the planet and still miss trojans, tainted jpegs/pngs, etc if no definitions exist yet. Expect multiple hidden infections now and go full nuke.
Isolating the infection to that device is only priority. It's possible the infection(s) are already on one or more backups and/or your PC. That's why it's important to keep multiple time staggered backups on multiple electronically isolated hdds.
I keep a 3 tier backup and my PC is never internet connected.
Keep your head and limit the spread...

looks normal to me. Those are typical apps that run when dual account messenger service is used .
