DEAD One X, in search for a good parts seller... - HTC One X

Hi all,
I have a One X (thanks god mine is fine ) and my cousin had another. His One X is now DEAD, it worked fine for about 15 days, but after a fall from a height of about 1,2m (4 feet) it simply turned off a refused to turn on again.
It doesn't turn on the led while trying to charge, it doesn't respond to any command.}
I have oppened his One X (I have a lot of experience fixing simple stuff inside phones) and didn't find anything out of the ordinary in it. Nothing abnormal.
We have already sent it to a repair store here in Brazil (and now you know part of my problem) and the store told us there was a problem in the main board and that they can't fix it.
So I'm asking you guys, can you give me an address (online one) of a good and respected phone parts store? That way I could change his board and give life back to his phone.
I have changed some parts of his phone iwth mine, and the parts are working (screen is without a single scratch and works), antennas, power connector and etc...
So the problem should really be the main board (the one with the Tegra 3 in it).
Please treat it as a no warranty device, we already gave up sending the device to england to fix it. UK UNLOCKED GREY DEVICE!
Thanks in advance.

I already buy a battery on this site and no problem.

Thanks, I've seen they do have the main board, but it is unavaiable and saing to ask them about it. I will do it, since I want to help my cousin with his phone, and do think they probably don't have it in stock because it is probably an item that doesn't have the same number of requests as smaller or more breakable (screen for example) items.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep you posted about the results.
Greetings, Santroph.

I hope for you and your cousin that you find a solution to this problem.

open a thread there....you got better chance selling it there and that is were you should have posted mate...just for future reference..ask a mod to move this thread for you there and rename the title of your thread...

I don't think the main can be available anywhere..as it costs as much as a new phone..
It's impossible to get unless some1 has a scrap phone..

Well I'm not really tring to sell it, or even buy a used Main Board (although that could work also). The main reason is to try to fiz the phone, and not sell as a broken one. What TG64 sent me was a nice store that do have the Main Board. I just don't know yet how much it would cost, and if it would be a prohibitive price or not.
When I get to know I'll surely post it here.
Main boards shouldn't cost as much as a phone. Even if they are a big part of the cost, the screen is also another big part of the cost of a complete phone. In my opinion the price for each should be more like 35% of a new phone for the main and 30% for the screen.
If it is like that, it surely is better than buying a whole new phone.
Cheers,
Santroph.

Return it back to the vendor you got it from, what country are you in? As mentioned earlier here in the UK we get 28 days from the retailer so we can get a replacement unit if a fault occurs.

That would annoy the hell out of me, a touchscreen display with a dead pixel, i'd send it back myself too and for £500 a pop they're not what you would call cheap.
Just tell them you've got unusual battery drain and reboots and theres a dead pixel and it won't charge, send it back and you'll get your new one. Or worst case scenario, they'll change the battery the motherboard and send you back the one with the dead pixel.
But they won't

Call HTC Customer care, Force the executive on the phone to get you to the MANAGER or higher level authority.... talk to him and tell him that you would file a complaint blah blah or ask him if this is the level of HTC for dealing with its customers?
One of the person from XDA would stand up and do a comment on it, but believe me, in India, i got a OUT OF WARRANTY HTC SENSATION replaced, just beacuse the voice was not clear to me....so yours is a VISIBLE defect to the naked eye, so just fight for it...

[Q] Help: About to buy an HTC one X "used"

I found an ad for a HTC one X that has apparently only been used for 3 days, so it is sorta brand new. The seller is asking for 425$ and most of the One Xs seem to retail for 600-700$. I've never bought a phone like this before and I am just a little skeptical. Is there any possible way to be scammed, i.e could this be a duped/fake One X? I guess my question is what sort of inspections can I perform to ensure that I am not being scammed and that the phone is in great condition? Thank you in advance.
Yes people can scam you but this is a great community. You can ask for imei number and check phone recycle sites to see if it recognised it. Also when paying through paypal you can always raise a dispute if he fails to send it and claim a refund. Request photos of it wrapped ready to send. See photos before u buy with his xda name and date on paper in the pic with the phone and get tracking number. If its in marketplace its a good place to buy people are trust worthy here just request pics like I said and stop worrieng

Ahh I see. I just messaged him asking for the IMEI number. I am actually meeting this seller in person. We are just going to meet at a local coffee shop and make the exchange so I will get to see the phone prior to buying it. Anything I should look out for/inspect? Haha, you're right, I should stop worrying. Thank for your advice man!!!

Screen flicker, gaps, 'ripple screen', scratches, etc. Might not be a big problem but you can probably negotiate the price down a little if there is any.

These are good things to look out for to serve as a starting point. Also, are you a developer or you just want to own this vicious beast? You might want to check or ask the seller if this was a developer phone before?
I usually do the usual bootloader recovery check (Volume Down+Power Button) just to check if the bootloader is already unlocked, if it is the next question would be if the phone is rooted. Alhough rooting a phone is usually safe in the hands of people who knows how to deal with it, you might want to cover this ground as well...
I don't know man, seems kinda cheap for a phone that's been lauched just a couple of weeks ago.Check that everything works,a friend of mine had to go with his One X back at the store to get a new one because the camera wasn't working.Check absolutly everything before you buy the phone, even look for dead pixels or things like that.
Ow,and watch out because the Chinese already lauched replicas for One X.

[Q] Should i trade my Nokia N9 for a one x with a messed up LCD?

I sold my htc amaze a few months ago to buy the n9 and im getting tired of not having any app selections (it was cool at first), and the one x looks pretty sick. found someone on craigslist that is willing to trade but he dropped the phone and the screen doesn't turn on. he has a new digitizer for it but not an LCD. They aren't too expensive on ebay (found one for like $40). he said the phone turns on and everything works (capacitive buttons, sound, etc). The thing im worried about is if it has water damage, is there any way to find out? and if not do you guys think its worth it?
thanks
edit: nevermind did more searching on the water damage indicator and found it. still would like to know your opinions/advice though
A screen repair requires the digitiser and LCD. Just do a search for broken screen threads here.

thanks for your reply. yeah ive watched a few videos on it but since they are selling the LCDs on ebay separated from the digitizer I figured you could replace it itself..
edit: im reading on other threads that they are two separate units? some people are saying they are on unit and others are saying the opposite. starting to wonder if its worth it..

Official ones come as one unit and cost more. It'll cost about 150 UK pounds for official repair. Factor that into your cost, and the fact that it's second hand, and the fact you can't test it properly... Is it worth it? I doubt it, but a working One X is an incredible device.

Don't do it, go for a proper second hand device a fully working one, better to have the original screen as it's a lovely screen.

Sending phone to repair service

So, I bought my phone from someone like 5 months ago, and it works fine except for two things. First the camera does not focuses on macro o close up pictures. It just doesn't, no matter what I try.
And secondly, something that started recently, the WiFi drops....even next to the router. I read somewhere here that it was a manufacturer problem. So I called HTC and they told me I am under warranty and that I should send my phone to them. Question is:
Will they give me another phone? Something I want but with the same CID (0_44 here) and, how long will they take to fix this? I know these are kinda weird questions but maybe someone is able to answer them. Thanks.

Girl said she couldn't tell me. It "depends on each case" and that's why I come here. Someone might have sent their phone for similar reasons.

We don't know what country you are in, we don't know what service centre you're referring to, we don't know what stock they have, we don't know what backlog they might have, some of those things change with time, we don't know what other problems they might find. It depends on each case.
I'm not sure how anybody here could be more qualified than HTC repair centre to answer the question.
HTC service in Hong Kong told me typically three business days for the WiFi problem, I don't know if that includes the pick up and delivery days
The girl in the US checked my serial number which would tell her my cellphone is CID_044 right?
She didn't tell me I was gonna pay or that they couldn't fix it cuz it was not bought from USA. Is it safe for me to send it?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Well HTC__044 is an asian phone, and the international One X is not sold in the US. I've heard that they can't import new motherboards due to some patent infringement, but that may have changed now.

Well, yes, but if it requires importing a component that would go against an import ban, that would mean breaking the law, and I'm sure you can understand why they might be inclined not to do that.

[Q] New display but after 3 hours broke again

Hi to all, today besides it looks like Friday 13th. (my car broke down) I took after I dropped my HTC One X my phone from the service with a new display.
After 2 hours I have been called and saw that the display again is broken from the left side, near the usb towards the top, (power button) is a line and cracked.
I really don't know and paid much money today and to pay again?
Could this happen or should I blame myself?
I always take good care of the phone and always carry it in my side pocket which is wide enough...
Can anyone advice me what to do?
If you are 100% positive that the screen was intact when you got it out from the service, you should take it back and council with the person who serviced the phone. It there are no signs of physical abuse or anything, you should have some kind of warranty on the display or at least on the changing service.

thank u for the reply..the service will not give me a new one..but is the display so sensitive? i mean could it break by wrong installation?
Are you sure it was completely perfect at the service center? Did you inspect your phone whatever the screen was replaced correctly or there were any cracks from the beginning?
There's not much you can do over here... You can tell them what happened and ask for replacement but I'm not sure they will replace it for free...

Okidoki as far as i did not get the right answer to this burning question of mine another..whats the difference between the original screen and a clone? I see lots of advertising on ebay claiming its a original HTC One X screen..
How to recognise this?
If I order a new display by my self..in what kind of price tag should i look at?
Anyone?

Thank you!! Great and I ordered a new display there and the price is much cheaper than the price offered here in Skopje, Macedonia.
But still 1 question how to recognize a clone from an original screen?
What I noticed is that the screen replaced on my phone is slight smaller as at the bottom part I can see the led light trough the house shining.
Also the left < is not shining while the home and > button is lighting.
The time before (when it has been replaced also) I had the same problem. At daytime its hard to notice but at night its very clear that only 2 buttons are lighting up.
Hahahahaha epic fail.......cough goo cough gle is cough your best friend.
here you can see my broken screen and the navigation button which is not lighting up
That has been the same case with the other replacement.
Also the crack is at the same position as the last one
I paid 100 euro for this one.

Ok here my last try as in the 3 days I did not get any answer, it might be that this issue is unknown?
Anyway one more try..
My HTC One X broke now a couple of times and the last time it broke at the same space as before, again I did not drop it
At the bottom I can clearly see a small open space and the 3 navigation led light shining although the navigation arrow on the left (see attached picture) is not lighting up and at night it can't be seen.
The main reason for this topic to get more informed and to put a claim at the mobile phone service and to get my money back.
Also looking at Ebay for a screen replacement it looks like a jungle as all are claiming to sale original displays but again prices are from 45 - 150 euro's. Is there some way to recognize a none (clone) original screen from a original?
Again sorry for this chain of mine on this topic but i just wonder why twice my display cracked at the same place.
It's just a coincidence that the screen broke at exactly the same point...
By looking at what you've said... I think the screen might not have fitted correctly... Hence causing the led not to shine as brightly as it should... May be there is some gap left...
About the screen originality... It's really hard to determine... If you could send us the link of the part which you are buying.. Then someone might be able to judge it's authenticity..

Thank you very much your answer
I also think it was not placed on the correct way and than the issue of the left navigation without lighting up as it should.
And the cap.
I wrote to rounded.com but no reply from them.
Maybe if someone could take a look at Ebay in Europe and to advise me which one to buy?
Should I buy the whole thing again complete or just the glass?
Also can be in a PM here.
Again thanks for the help :good: :good: :good:

Listen, stop complaining that people aren't answering your questions. As Mr.Hoff has repeatedly tried to tell you, people have NO OBLIGATION to answer you, nor does it mean that because they're on XDA They know the answer to your questions. XDA is a priviledge, without XDA you probably wouldn't have a place to even ask your question.
NOW TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION.
The difference between HTC Screen and a Generic Replacement screen is alot.
HTC Screen = LCD2 which is basically HD screen
Generic = LCD Screen with a much lesser resolution.
Also the part numbers are different, the only REAL way to tell whether you have the LCD2 screen or not.
However I cannot tell you the exact part number for a OEM HTC LCD2 Display.
Now stop ranting.
