Hi Forum,
I've been using Mixzing as my player of choice for a while but lately it seems very buggy and the authors choice of ads has gone...well...insane. on screen ads, full screen ads, and pop up ads all up in my face. I've considered buying it to get rid of the ads, but before I pull the trigger I'm wondering if there are better players out there?
What I like about Mixzing is that you can select folders to play unlike the default music player which lumps it all together. I also like that it can identify the song, grab album art, etc. Other than those two things I haven't done much else with it.
So is there another program out there that does a similar or better job? Preferably for less than $5.00?

There usually 5 for a music player this is the best I currently use

I agree with power amp.

poweramp is by far my favorite, the EQ is amazing
Power Amp best choice for sure.

My favorite app for playing local music is probably DeadBeef. It's a very small program and it's the only free music player in the market that will read and use ReplayGain tags in your MP3s. You only have to download the DeadBeef plugins pack to play MP3 files (probably due to licensing) and both apps together are very small. It can play folders, but I'm not sure if you can select specific ones. I always just throw all my folders in to /Music and shuffle the whole directory. It has kind of an ugly beige color scheme to it, but it functions very well. Displays album art too. Can also show very detailed ID3 info.
What's wrong with play music? I used power amp before and o always come back to stock m music player...
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
+1 for Poweramp, the best !

DO NOT use power amp if you care about audio quality. Its the worst thing I have heard.
Soundbest is great and so is neutron player. Trust me. You will never look at that power amp crap again.

Hello!
I wonder if anyone has been able to find a music player really worth it, I said why I tried several like the power amp, ubermusic, and the new app ics, but all have the same problem.
Try playing with the volume button, go up and down the volume quickly and see as there is a pause in the song or degradation (noticeable only with headphones), and this does not happen with the player as standard. Now tell me then stick with the standard player! But it always bugs me when I'm presented some time playing the same artist when I press the back button instead of sending me to the library just sends me to the main desktop, this happened to me many versions with different roms bone is samsung a direct bug ..
samsung player also has a millisecond pause after each song which is annoying me!
Someone tell me if they feel the same? that all players have this defect by changing the volume?
Greetings!
Power amp beta 2 ?
Its really good

I just tested and this is no longer the problem by increase or decrease the volume ... but now every time I open the app has a volume change for a second and it's annoying me ...
any idea?
I have been using doubletwist and it is pretty good
at the end I did not find any that do not have this error when the volume up and down maybe for some it is annoying as it is almost imperceptible but for me it's really annoying ...
try, PowerAMP, ubermusic, doubleTwist, pro player, and no bug fixes that the only thing is you do not have the samsung home player ...
that samsung does not fix the bug in your player at home, when you're playing a long time to one artist and you want to switch to the press only sends you back to the main menu, this is a general problem right?
Neutron player.
Weird UI, but excellent sound quality.

and i could not agree more then you. i had this player for the longest and its too good. it reads all my album art i customized and works atleast not like other crappy players and no lag and great ui looking. this is a keeper until someone comes out with something that'll have all this and plus more. you can modify alot of things tho in poweramp.. anyone that is not happy with it go blah on something else which is worthless no offence to anyone.
Try ttpod, really nice sound quality
Another thing that pisses me off about the stock music player is the fact that there's no music widget. Come on Samsung what were you thinking. That's a core Android feature!
What about winamp? Is no good?
PowerAMP
PowerAmp is the best.
I bought it...
I am testing the PowerAMP 2.0 and is really good!
Try music player pro. I tried a lot and that one is the best to me

There is an option in PowerAmp
Is there something better than winamp out there? It keeps locking up on me and uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't seem to help. I like the swipe to skip songs feature, so if there's something that has that feature, that would be great.
Any suggestions?
I'm using Apollo. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done plus it has equalizer settings.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Can I get it from the market? The link to download it from the site is blocked here at work.
I used MysteryEmotionz Blacked out Miui Music. Works really well. It's in the old Epic apps area. Zip won't work in recovery, just push apk to system/app.
Poweramp... best there is!
I love player pro

I used apollo for a bit, but the sound quality was not great. i got a lot of distortion. the eq does not work at this moment to my knowledge. mine kept reverting to fx or w.e. its called.
to answer the OP question. Poweramp is the best, hands down. It is a few bucks, but you get what you pay for. The eqing and sound customization is phenomenal. The overall appearance (including the lockscreen) is great as well. Give it a test drive and youll see. I think its a 14 day trial.
edit: i dont use it, but im pretty sure you can swipe to go to the next song in the app and lockscreen

Yes... PowerAmp is awesome.
Poweramp. I believe you can still try it free for 30 days.
poweramp is great, only complaint (big one for me) is that if you use bluetooth for your car stereo, it doesnt pull the song title like the stock music player does

I believe so, atleast for me. like i said, you can give the full trial a go for 14 days
i got poweramp, player pro, and mixzing
i say poweramp, equalizer is better.
but mixzing was cool cuz it would set up a playlist for you and now it doesnt work well anymore.
its unanimous, poweramp. play pro is good too but I didn't like the eq very much
I was having massive winamp problems too and recently found Doubletwist. Its been working really well for the last week or so. It does shoutcast streaming as well, only complaint is that seems to time out and not reconnect to the stream if it drops for any reason.
JetAudio or Poweramp.
I used poweramp for a while but I'm really starting to enjoy JetAudio, it's brand new as well so it can only get better.
poweramp!!!
I just tested jetaudio. it doesnt display song title info from blue tooth on the car radio either

Hi folks,
Anyone else try JetAudio app for music? I downloaded it today - had been using Poweramp up to this point but I have to say initial impressions is that the sound is very good from JetAudio.. Anyone else try it?
Cheers,
Mick
Jet audio is great, plenty of adjustments available via the equalizer, I'm really impressed.
I agree. It has plenty of features for a free app. Downside of course is battery life. But nonetheless, thank you for pointing me to it.

I think poweramp is best. The dvc is unbeatable and the ui is great and u can also change themes. In jetaudio the 20 band equalizer is sweet but the ui is boring and there aren't a lot of options. Also try player pro.

It's the best player that I test. I just need a player with a file browser ans userfriendly ui. Very nice app.

The only problem that I have found with Jet Audio and PowerAmp is that they won't detect FLAC files, which makes it pretty useless to use. I usually use Spotify but I do prefer some tracks in FLAC.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It says "It plays almost any type of digital music files you have (.wav, .mp3, .ogg, .flac, .m4a, .mpc, .tta, .wv, .ape, .mod, .spx and more)..." Not knowing what a FLAC is, I can't say if it actually does.
Just tried Jet, still like N7 Player better. More unique interface, let's you edit tags, replace album art with higher quality, sounds as good, better widgets. I bought Poweramp, but uninstalled, didn't like interface.

What are you looking for in a music player?
Because i personally don't need a lot, as long as it plays my music i am fine with it.
Are there special features that makes other music players better? (out of curiosity).
Not much really I was a huge fan of apollo

+1 for poweramp paid. I don't buy many applications but Poweramp was the one of the first i paid for. And I'm soo glad i did.
I used the built in player for a few days, but I saw no means to retrieve the correct album art, and lol that annoys me when my music shows the wrong art, so I started using power amp paid version :good:

Most music players allow you to select which folders to add to your music library. Although others scan the entire device for sound files.
I like the option of storing files local. Works great for subways and airplanes.

I've been playing around with Music Player (remix) lately. Its still fairly new on the Android platform and the dev has some bugs to iron out, but the menu system is incredible. Almost everything is accessible from swipes left, right, up. $5 is a bit steep, try out the demo you might just fall in love with it.
