Topic. I'm using the default one for the first time since I've been using Android. On my evo epic 4g and 4g touch I always used player pro but since owning the s3 I don't feel a need to use a after market one unless someone ports over the xperia music player with working widgets.

+1 for poweramp paid. I don't buy many applications but Poweramp was the one of the first i paid for. And I'm soo glad i did.
I used the built in player for a few days, but I saw no means to retrieve the correct album art, and lol that annoys me when my music shows the wrong art, so I started using power amp paid version :good:
Now you guys wouldn't happen to be the developers of this app hmmmmm? lol

This kinda moves the original question into another area, but how do you keep the ring tones saved on your phone from being played via the music player? I'm at the point now that I do not save music on my phone. I just stream it from my cloud. Thanks.

Most music players allow you to select which folders to add to your music library. Although others scan the entire device for sound files.
I like the option of storing files local. Works great for subways and airplanes.

I do as well. I just don't like the fact that some of my ring tones are mixed into the music player. Does poweramp allow you to choose the folder?

I've been playing around with Music Player (remix) lately. Its still fairly new on the Android platform and the dev has some bugs to iron out, but the menu system is incredible. Almost everything is accessible from swipes left, right, up. $5 is a bit steep, try out the demo you might just fall in love with it.

Is there something better than winamp out there? It keeps locking up on me and uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't seem to help. I like the swipe to skip songs feature, so if there's something that has that feature, that would be great.
Any suggestions?
I'm using Apollo. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done plus it has equalizer settings.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Can I get it from the market? The link to download it from the site is blocked here at work.
I used MysteryEmotionz Blacked out Miui Music. Works really well. It's in the old Epic apps area. Zip won't work in recovery, just push apk to system/app.
Poweramp... best there is!

I used apollo for a bit, but the sound quality was not great. i got a lot of distortion. the eq does not work at this moment to my knowledge. mine kept reverting to fx or w.e. its called.
to answer the OP question. Poweramp is the best, hands down. It is a few bucks, but you get what you pay for. The eqing and sound customization is phenomenal. The overall appearance (including the lockscreen) is great as well. Give it a test drive and youll see. I think its a 14 day trial.
edit: i dont use it, but im pretty sure you can swipe to go to the next song in the app and lockscreen

Yes... PowerAmp is awesome.
Poweramp. I believe you can still try it free for 30 days.
poweramp is great, only complaint (big one for me) is that if you use bluetooth for your car stereo, it doesnt pull the song title like the stock music player does

I believe so, atleast for me. like i said, you can give the full trial a go for 14 days
i got poweramp, player pro, and mixzing
i say poweramp, equalizer is better.
but mixzing was cool cuz it would set up a playlist for you and now it doesnt work well anymore.
its unanimous, poweramp. play pro is good too but I didn't like the eq very much
I was having massive winamp problems too and recently found Doubletwist. Its been working really well for the last week or so. It does shoutcast streaming as well, only complaint is that seems to time out and not reconnect to the stream if it drops for any reason.
JetAudio or Poweramp.
I used poweramp for a while but I'm really starting to enjoy JetAudio, it's brand new as well so it can only get better.
poweramp!!!
I just tested jetaudio. it doesnt display song title info from blue tooth on the car radio either

Honestly I think they both suck but if I had to choose between those two it would be Apollo. Google music caches random things I never asked it to and doesn't cache what I want it to. I use doubletwist.

That's not what was asked... apollo or google play or gtfo... I don't like either, but apollo sucks way less than google play music.....
Google play music, just because of the cloud (only on wifi, not 3g) and the default settings are perfect for car audio. I've played with the Apollo just couldn't find anything that makes it stand out from the abundance of music players on the market.

Apollo is garbage, I was just giving another suggestion because they are obviously not the only music apps. Gtfo? Ok
I use Apollo with the Black theme. I can't say I love it, but it plays music and has the "Hold volume UP to skip" feature... which is really all I need (I use Shuffle All while jogging and it's nice being able to skip a song I dont want to hear without needing to even look at my phone). Last time I checked the Volume UP skip didn't work with Play Music.
I do wish Apollo would get an update with more features, neater UI, and do better with album art.

As long a Google music keeps the cloud service, it can't suck. Besides being able to customize the equalizer, organize music, and how it looks what more could you want out of the millions of music apps?

If it's only used for cloud then it's ok. I live out west so when I leave urban areas service its spotty so I have to have music on the phone as well. Google music doesn't cache what I tell it to. It just caches random things so because of that I say it sucks.
Power amp could be good. It has a lot of features but the interface sucks.
you save music for offline mode before you leave the house. Google Music because of the free cloud service.

I was curious to see everyones music app of choice is? I've tried em all except winamp and slacker radio, but I think I'm gonna go with PlayerPro for a while....I love having the lockscreen widget back!!! (Missed that from using it on MIUI on my OG Evo) Anyways curious to see what everyones app of choice is!
None of the above - jetAudio Basic
I use Amazon MP3 which is not listed above.
Player pro. The gap less playback alone makes it worth using. Also the developer is friendly. We spent about a month fixing the blue tooth track display after I emailed him. I was very impressed at his level of support.

I like the stock on the SIII simply because it has the Cover to Pause feature.
That feature has been awesome to me especially when driving and I have to pause a song, I never have to look at my phone.
I do still like Google Play Music App, gives me access to a bunch of songs that are streaming off my cloud.
If only there was an app that had Cover to pause feature and the ability to stream music off of our Google Music accounts... :cyclops:

Okay, I absolutely love the native Samsung music player on my Galaxy S III. The sound quality is amazing in my headphones and my car. However, there are some things that need to be improved like downloading album arts, organizing my music by their albums and such. I've tried n7player but it doesn't help out much. I've also tried the tag editing tools and other music players like zplayer, playerpro and other music players in the Google play store and those don't help out much either. Any other solutions?

I really like the default samsung player. Its got the flawless notification/lockscreen integration and it recognizes all my music correctly. There's maybe two or three features that I look for in a player that this one has all I need. My only problem is that it chugs when I scroll through my music quickly (25gb of songs on a class 4 card will do that though, sadly). I've tried a whole bunch with fancy interfaces, but they always give me a reason to go back. For example, I tried xenoamp after the reccomendation above and I was really excited for it, seemed like it had a cool interface. But no shuffle all? And after I got past that, the rest of it felt like an alpha with a lot of features (like editting tags so I could fix all of the songs that it randomly didn't recognize) simply not working.

I really like the stock music player, but it's constantly losing my position in tracks when I pause... I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and if I pause mid-track, if I come back an hour or two later it's lost the position, starting the track over. If I wait more than an hour or two, it often forgets what book I'm even on, and will just show my library.
This is with absolute minimal use between, checking gmail once or twice and a text or two.
I use either Cloudskipper or Doubletwist, take your pick
I have used Mixzing for the past two years.
