Crashing freezing - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey I just got my US sprint version of the galaxy S3 and was wondering why I get freezes occasionally and lag with some apps randomly at times? Thought this phone was 100% smooth? And my bwttery is being sort of horrible.. I'm not rooted, only one or two apps open at a time, and texting a bunch . And yes I always close out of most apps. I had my sd card in and it was partitioned to my rooted evo, but I formatted it twice then formatted it using my galaxy. Any ideas?
Also my specific phone scores a quadrant standard score of 4445. That good or bad?

Synergy HD vid, terrible video/sound sync

So I'm using Synergy and while trying to take HD video after Irene I noticed that the sound is never in sync with the video and it constantly freezes up, glitches or some other annoyance. I tried using the camera.apk posted here from a different phone but HD video just craps out to the home screen. It's running essentially Syn stock. No GM, no new kernel (but that doesn't help any) and nothing to interfere with the OS. Even regular 480p will mess up after 60 seconds or less. I looked back about 15 pages and it seems I'm the only schmuck with this problem Dunno if Warm2.2 had/has this issue too but I'm too stuck on getting Syn to run perfect at the moment to go back. Maybe the Syn GM will do better but none of my flashables work with GM so I usually skip it. Anyone have a clue? Ty peeps.
The only thing I can think of is memory space and space on SDCard. Also, did you do the SD card format instructions as listed on Synergy post?

I am having the same problems, recorded a video of a car problem I had, there was like a 5 second delay with sound, on synergy.
Right now I'm wiping EVERYTHING and flashing again to see if I can solve this issue. tried King-Shooter but that rom was slow compared to synergy.

Of course, unlike some people I do try to follow instructions I don't really keep anything on my sdcard so it's got 5 gigs at least to mess with. I'm thinking maybe there might be some sort of bottlenecking going on because I do not recall having these issues long ago with Sprint lovers roms when I first got it. Idk, I'm gonna do some tinkering over the weekend now that I have the time and see if maybe I can figure something out. Glad to see at least I'm not the only one.

[Q] Apps shutting down like closed with task manager

Last night I was testing out the E4GT by playing Grave Defense HD and the app kept closing once I reached a certain level of game intensity. It didn’t give me a force close error, it just disappeared like it had been killed with task manager.
I decided it was an issue with that game and tried another game I thought would be less intensive (Spinballs). The same thing started happening with that game. At a certain level of intensity, the game just disappeared from the screen. Phone sat looking back at me like nothing was wrong.
I played both of these games on my E4G without this kind of issue.
I’m not using any kind of automatic task manager or memory manager. I haven’t done any rooting type shenanigans with the phone either.
Anyone else experience anything like this?
N.O.V.A. 2 HD - which came with the phone - is causing the same symptom. Maybe I have a lemon.
I experienced this with the browser twice already, out of the blue, mobile sites, nothing intensive.
Same thing here with Grave Defense HD. Frustrating.
Thank you so much for letting me know this. Honestly. I thought I was losing my mind or had the world's worst luck. I was about to reset my phone to factory default just to see if that would clear up the issue.
It did the same to me while playing third blade
Anyone find the cause?

The browser on my original Epic 4g would randomly close out the same way, pisses me off when it happens. I'm not happy to hear about this

Both my wife's E4GT and mine are doing the exact same thing as well. This is with Grave Defense, Fieldrunners, and Plants vs Zombies.
I continue to get this when playing any game. It doesn't look like it is related to intensity. It seems that maybe it is just after a set amount of time or something. I used the zedomax root and it still happens after root. I was also wondering if maybe some service is activating (PRL check? Firmware check? Email check?) and that kills the game for some reason.
I stayed up reading Kindle on my phone for a long time just to check it and it didn't close the Kindle app. I'm trying really hard to find a pattern.
Im thinking about deleting the stock task manager, and putting on advanced task killer. It kills my set cpu and shoots me back up to 1,200mhz. And it doesn't kill everything effectively anyways.

I noticed it when the game was moved to ad card

I don't even have an SD in my phone yet so it's unrelated to the app being on the SD card or not from the sound of it.

But the phone has an internal sd card, no?
Worked so far for me

Oh yeah I guess it does have that... everything is installed to internal memory and not the internal SD card though right? I haven't tried moving anything to SD card (external or internal)

If you uninstall the stock task man and put on a custom one can you let us all know if that fixed the random task close/exits.
Killed my task manager, installed Watchdog (which keeps stats on running tasks - made sure to whitelist GRave Defense HD so it wouldn't try to whine about it).
Still went "poof" and closed by itself in the middle of the game after it'd been running long enough and enough stuff was going on.
Verified that task manager is still not running in my applications list. So... thats not what's doing it strangely enough.
To further troubleshoot this, sound was off.
Is there a debug file or something we can have android make?
My theory was incorrect
Maybe there is a setting we need to uncheck

Looked all through the settings for "Annoyingly close programs that you are actively using without giving any errors and making you scratch your head in disbelief" but couldn't find that to turn off
On a more serious note, we're at least building up a good amount of things that it *isn't* which does in fact help

[Q] Noob Question - How to diagnose freezes

I'm running Cyanogen 7.1. About two or three weeks ago, I started getting full system freezes which require me removing the battery to get it to restart.
It only happens a couple times a week, but when it does, it comes in bunches, and I often have to pull the battery five or six times before it settles down again.
After restarting the phone, it will get as far as preparing the SD card, and the launcher icons for apps moved to the SD card will fill in in the launcher, and then within 30 seconds or so, the entire phone hangs.
I know you can't tell me what the problem is just from that, but I'd appreciate some advice about any logs or such that I can check.
Thanks
What are your CPU settings clocked at? And are those settings set on boot?

Are you undervolted also?

No, I haven't made any changes to the processor speed or the voltage.
Have you tried using another launcher? or clearing the data for your current launcher? back it up before you clear it.
Or try an app like SD Speed Increase? ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sdincrease.it )
I know this sounds crazy, but have you tried using a different ROM?
TBH, CM7 scares the crap out of me wit hall the Boot Looped phones that were running it.

I ended up starting from scratch and doing a clean reflash of Cyanogen. I'm assuming it had to do with me forcing all apps to the SD card, so I won't do that this time.
Good call. Not all apps can run from the SD Card. Particularly apps that have attached Widgets and native system apps.

Random Reboots

I am a two week old proud owner of a GN8.0. I have a problem though. Recently, my GN8.0 has been experiencing some random reboots. I thought it might be a rouge app so I did a factory reset. To no avail!!! It's still doing the same thing. Did I buy a lemon?

For a couple of nights in a row, I've noticed that as I go to sleep (and fire up tune in radio) my device locks up and requires a hard shutdown and restart.
I've pulled logs but haven't looked at them yet, and have an older backup of the app I can restore. I don't remember whether this correlates with a Tune In update from the last few days but will be restoring an older version to see if it helps.

Mine does the same thing. Only once or twice a week and I have this thing loaded with apps (I think I have 500mb left of internal). If it did it more than that I'd be aggravated but I can deal with a once a week freeze up. I'm stock rooted with no mods other than root also.

I wouldnt call that loaded with apps. I have 26gb of apps on mine but I use foldermount to transfer the data to my microSD card. I try and keep at least 1.5gb of internal memory free as worry about stability issues if it gets reduced. I assume that apps need free space for cache etc and try to keep as much free as possible.
Only issues i've had is when im playing a game and have forgotten to take my tablet out of power saving mode. Im running my CPU under volted and underclocked.
If freeing up space on your internal storage isnt fixing your stability issues then you may have other issues. im pushing my tablet a little harder and having no problems with it.

Yeah. I did the internal - external swap on my note 2 but had issues (forget what they were but they were annoying), so I went back to normal internal and external. I also didn't like the idea that once you did the swap you were kinda stuck with it unless you wanted to redo a bunch of stuff if something were to happen to the SD. I have a class 10 64g SD card now with 57g available. Seems like a waste of space (I keep all my music on Google music) just sitting in this tablet. Maybe I'll take the internal/external swap for a spin again and see if the bugs have been worked out. OR...... Maybe Key lime Pie will bring apps 2 SD back :silly:

Just to clarify. l haven't swapped my internal and external. l just move my app data files to external via Folder Mount. That way l can still remove the micro SD if I so wish

[Q] Very laggy note 2.

Hello!
Im new to this forum but have used it for rooting my phones and suck for about a year now. Any way i bought a note 2 yesterday and noticed how slow it was compared to my lg optimus g. i then put me and my friends note 2 beside each other and turned it on. mine takes about a extra 20 seconds longer. Why can this be happening? Im rooted running stock 4.2.1 rom.

This does NOT matter. The LG would be more optimized from factory with less carrier bloatware and as such can boot in a shorter time.
You mentioned "lag", but you didn't state the lag you were referring to. My AT&T Note2 play all games that I've thrown at it so far, flawlessly. I'd like to see your benchmark scores that you used in your comparison.
Your original post is like comparing the boot times of DOS vs. Windows8. Certainly DOS will always load faster (as there isn't anything to load on boot), but it doesn't necessarily mean that the Windows8 PC is lagging because it has more practical things doing.
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4941&idPhone2=4854
PS: The Adreno GPU in the OptimusG would suck in comparison to the Mali in the Note2
I turn on my note 2 and it takes about 5 minutes to turn on. it also shows i have no internal memory on it. if you would like a video i can upload it. its unbearable. if this is how laggy touchwiz is no thanks.
...5 minutes to turn on. That's not right. My phone does 12 seconds with the stock ROM
Your device needs to be restored to a stock ROM for further testing. Even if your device was underclocked, it can't possibly boot that slow.

Could be a slow microSD that is slowing the phone down.
Or too much stuff on the phone. .music vids pics etc
As anon-unk suggested. .. might need a factory reset

Have tried multiple resets and rom flashs in both odin and cwm. still says no internal storage and lag so bad the phones unusable.
Does your device show the proper IMEI number and is the EFS folder intact ?
