I own the Verizon GSIII but thought I would share these around with everyone...
These boot animations will only work with custom Roms/kernels that allow for the use of bootanimation.zip
All flashable .zip's place the bootanimation.zip in data/local
I hope you guys like them...
If you do, give me a "Thanks"

The New AOKP
I finally had some time today and put a new bootanimation together...
Go and thank ThaPHLASH for the imagery. He did a nice job.
Download
Flashable .zip
manual install
Here is my first boot animation designed specifically for the Galaxy S III
The intro was originally created by Jaekar99 and the rest is mine.
Instructions
Download Flashable Zip (flashes bootanimation.zip to data/local)
download file and flash in CWM
Download bootanimation.zip for manual install
Copy bootanimation.zip to data/local
Reboot
Thank you for the AOKP boot.
Very nice
Thanks man! They look nice and run smooth. Not like some of the others where its 1 picture repeating itself lol!
the manual install file is not done correctly. you can't have it set to repeat endlessly like before. you need to specify the amount of iterations. I placed mine in and it kept on looping the blue androids part even though i was receiving emails and stuff after it had finished booting. had to remove it with adb. I don't know if it's a Samsung thing or a ICS thing, but back on my Evo 4G and Evo 3D days I would set the animations to repeat endlessly until the phone finished booting. that doesn't work here. so you have to guesstimate how many iterations before the phone finishes loading...i guess?

I'm curious if it has anything to do with the ROM you are using... I think I have seen that issue before but I can't reproduce it on my phone with its current configuration.
Are you just going to change the desc.text to play the part1 file like 3 times or something?

Do you by chance have just the default Jelly Bean boot up animation?
the boot animation looping has NOTHING to do with the animation !! it is a bug in the kernel. I think freeza ?? (could be wrong) has updated the kernel to fix this bug! no more animation looping.

The bootanimation.zip file contains two important parts.
The first is the actual images that make the animation.
The second part is the script that controls the size of the images, speed that they are displayed, and the number of times to LOOP the animation.
The kernel could cause issues... But we don't have any with our Verizon GS3's
Sent from my GS³
ahh interesting. mine are all set to 0 (infinite) loops it just stops when the OS is ready to take over.
now with the LJ7 JB rom we had an issue on the sprint phones (sprint forum here) where it would get stuck on the animation. the phone would actually finish boot up. I know you can hear it doing things in the back ground in fact I held a second phone next to it and mirrored moves and was able to operate it. the animation simply stayed on the screen. someone corrected this with an update kernel.
seems you guys might have a different but similar issue ???
im glad to see that this beast is finally capable of custom boot animations!!! I moved my old OGevo4g to system/media the other day and it worked just fine with the exception of it being the wrong size and going a tad too fast... nothing that isnt correctable on both counts, besides that, this means that i can recreate the RayWilliamJohnson dancin kitty bootanimation for my beloved S3!!!! couple that with the availability of making custom splash screens and this thing is about to be truly pimped!!!! Thanks for sharing the bootanims so i can steal the image dimensions and text file from within the zip!!!

yes. it probably has some corrupt frames. "unzip" it find and eradicate or fix the bad frames and rezip

To everyone having trouble with white flashes while the boot animation is playing...
Let me start by saying that I don't have a solution, I can only offer some possible factors that lead to the problem.*
I have never had this issue while using an ics touchwiz ROM.
It seems to only flash while running JB Roms.
One example was when I was using eclipse rom. I was using the stock boot animation and kernel. As soon as I flashed Lean Kernel, the white flashes started. This leads me to believe that there is something else causing the issue.*
I don't know what I can do to remedy the issue. If anyone has a fix, let me know.
Sent from my GS³
I'm an idiot.
To fix the blue one....
Open desc.txt and change:
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
To:
"p 0 0 part 0"
Then re-zip with no compression.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. It is under 190 frames total, png images, all 480 x 800 but nothing plays. stays for a second and skips to being booted.
It is based off my favorite game, Shin Megami Tensei (it's the opening computer scene where the demon summoning program is first activated)
I just don't know where I went wrong on this.
Part 0 should play once, Part 1 should loop
could someone take a look at this and tell me what I did wrong?

Try this in the desc.txt
480 800 5
p 1 1 part0
p 0 1 part1
No change, sadly. There's gotta be something else I'm doing.
Wait are you saying that it plays a little bit of it then skips to the rest of your boot... or the screen goes black? Basically, what happens after what you want to see stops?
I noticed your FPS is set at 5, which is pretty slow. Maybe increase the 480 800 5 to 480 800 15 and see where it gets you, if you're only getting to part of your animation before the rest of the boot sequence (the part that doesn't have a boot animation) continues?
Hey guys, I rezipped it a different way that should work and changed the FPS to 30. I tested it on my phone and it worked fine. Nice boot by the way!
Let me know if it doesn't work.
@thegregbradley Actually all it would show is a black screen for a couple seconds, and then nothing.
@illinois08 Thanks, I'll try it out. Reflashing CM7 Nightly atm, so I'll have to get to it here in a few minutes. I'll edit my post with the results.
EDIT:
@illinois08 It works! Now I just have to tweak it so it actually gets to the final loading screen!
Well, once I finish and adapt it, I'll be able to upload it, the splash screen and begin work on the ADW theme to go with it. Thanks for your help!
Nice! I'd say just increase that FPS even more and see if you can get it to play all the way through before the boot finishes. I have no idea what the boot is from, but it looks way cool, considering running it myself

A bootanimation idea I've thought of before is sort of Leaving the HTC EVO 4G image and one second later it starts dissorting or burning down into a nice animation. Get me?
The white screen: when it finishes loading to start the boot anination, it should look as if the image IS part of the boot screen animation... It just breaks down violently and then starts to deform or rip appart to start the boot animation. So you won't have 2 seperate images at startup (Evo 4G screen + animation)
Make it one run-on animation....
By tthe way, that can be just the start.... No idea of the rest of the animation
Sent from my Sense 3.0 Evo 4G using XDA Premium.
This is my first boot animation ever. Feel free to use this for anything you want.
During the boot process, the X continues to rotate.

ADB Install instructions for those that need them:
Code:
adb remount
adb push /path/to/HI-RESnexusanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
And to test it out without rebooting your phone:
Code:
adb shell

Hi,
nice animation. but the background layer is not "full" black.
can you change this?
EDIT: another ROM and no problem with layer
got a good bootanimation idea if you'd like to make it
make the GNexus text larger and have the "X" symbol of Nexus pulse in the background like the N1's bootanimation.

What's the issue? Could you see the background? I can try to make it transparent but that won't be for a few days because I'd practically have to start from the beginning again, and I don't feel like it. I made a version that was full 720p images but the initial sequence ran much slower than it does now and looked pretty bad. You can download it From my rootzwiki thread if you'd like, but I don't recommend it.
I think it might look even better with the X rotating around the vertical axis.
I really like this boot animation. Nice and clean. I think it'd be cool to see a version that went vertically down the screen (yes, sideways) and was bigger. Thanks again!
Nice work. Thanks.

I really like it....just one problem that someone else mentioned
I'm running ARHD and the galaxy nexus has a bit of a grey bar around it rather than being the same black as the background
I tried using a different ROM but it still did it
It's fine if you're busy or whatever and can't get it fixed soon....just wanted to let you know of the problem
good job anyway
maybe mine is an isolated incident?
Running this and works great.

I, too, see a lighter grey box (the dimensions of the boot images) when booting up. I pushed this boot image to my stock, non-rooted, LTE Galaxy Nexus.
Love it
I have tried about 10 different boot animations and I find this one the best. Simple and looks great. Thanks for the hard work.

UPDATE!
Thanks for all the great feedback.
It's taken me a while, but I've updated it with a larger logo and a much cleaner animation. Still needs a small tweak, but I'll get to it eventually.
The update is in the OP.
Thanks for this! It's not quite working perfectly for me though, so here's another data point to add.
I'm seeing a non-black background in a horizontal strip behind the text. In the latest version the gray background occurs when the text is initially being drawn from left to right. But once the text is drawn and the multicolor X starts to spin, the gray background disappears and all of the text is on a black background.
On the original animation with smaller text, the gray background appeared behind the text for the entirety of the animation. This newer one seems to be an improvement in that regard at least.
I'm running stock 4.0.2 unlocked and rooted on a VZW GN for reference.
Thanks for this animation: clean, elegant. Just right.
hey thank you for this bootanimation, however there is a minor issue i found... when it changes from "wipe" to "rotate" you see it jump. and why didn't you use a resolution of 1280x720 instead of 160x720?

Yeah i noticed that two. There are two different sequences, one unfolding the wording and the other with the rotating logo, and the text seems not to be perfectly aligned in both of them.
Wynalazca, i am loving this animation. Thanks a lot for your effort on it.
Decided to start my own thread for those that are interested in MLP content for the HTC One. Why did i start this thread? Because i couldn't find any MLP content for the HTC One at all, so i decided to put my somewhat limited artistic skills to use and start creating some stuff. Obviously i don't expect everyone to like this but please keep any nasty comments/trolling out of this thread. I can take requests but my time is at a minimum these days as I work mostly all week and my daughter keeps me busy in my free time. Some of my work is created from others work in the community, if you are unhappy about your work being used then please let me know and i will remove the content.
How to install:
You must be S-OFF firstly, otherwise you will not be able to flash these custom images to your phone. It will not work if your phone is just unlocked via HTCDev, it doesn't allow you to change the bootsplash. If you want to find out more about S-OFF i suggest searching the HTC One forum for 'rumrunner', 'moonshine' or 'revone' which will give you the details of what you need to do to get your HTC One S-OFF.
If you're already S-OFF, just place one of the downloaded files onto your sdcard and flash using a custom recovery such as TWRP or Clockworkmod. It will update your bootsplash to whatever you choose.
The dreaded 'Red HTC Dev' text:
When your phone is S-OFF it displays a red developer messsage on the bootsplash which basically ruins any custom bootsplash you might have on your phone. Luckily there is a way to remove it and it can be done by updating your HBoot to a custom one without the developer text. You can find more information on the thread here.
1080x1920 Wallpapers:
You can see all my full sized images i used here on imgur, you should be able to take them, put them on your phone and use as wallpapers.

RainbOS boot animation:
After recently posting my HTC One splash screens on the Reddit /r/mylittlepony sub reddit, i had a message off ScottBee saying that he'd made the RainbOS and i'd asked if he'd got time to make a 1080x1920 version for the HTC One. Unfortunately due to time, he was a bit busy so i took some time to resize it to the HTC One resolution.
Obviously it's lost a little bit of focus with the resize but it still looks awesome on the HTC One and the loss of focus isn't even noticeable when the animation is running. I'd like to thank ScottBee for letting me use his work and if you want to see what the animation looks like you can see it on his blog.

Pinkie Pie Down Animation:
This one actually took longer than i thought and wasn't as easy as i thought. I created a down animation from the last 10 or so seconds from Magic Duel where Pinkie Pie gets her mouth back. Sadly, it's not the entire animation because it doesn't run for long enough which is a shame and it doesn't run very smooth because of all of the services shutting down in the background. Although some of it's negative points, it actually turned out pretty good. It's a flashable zip and it will overwrite your current down animation so i recommend taking a copy of it or doing a nandroid backup first...

Doctor Who bootanimation with sound!!
WARNING
This is a disclaimer: While this has been tested I am not responsible for ANY damage done to your device. I take no responsibility for bootloops, soft bricks, hard bricks, living brick monsters, your phone proving an omnipotent being fallible(thus negating all existence), your great aunt smoking bath salts, flying monkeys, hot pockets, obamacare, dingleberries, carnivorous dingleberries or Sundays. Use at your own risk!!
Secondary disclaimer: If you have carnivorous dingleberries then you have bigger problems to worry about - but for any phone related questions feel free to message me on here either privately or in the thread.
This is the bootanimation I use for my sprint lg optimus g and figured I should share it for any other Doctor Who fans out there. Doctor Who and the TARDIS are registered trademarks of the BBC. This animation is not my original work, I simply turned it into a bootanimation. THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP! You have to manually put it into your system/media folder and change permissions(-rw-r--r-- aka 644). Also, you will want to delete your old boot animation and sound(make a backup!) and may need to rename this - if you are running stock ls970 it is already named appropriately(As is the sound, PowerOn_Sprint.ogg). Finally, even after optimizing the jpegs as much as possible, the zip is still a whopping 25mb! Both the bootanimation and sound had to be uploaded to dev host because the zip was too big and xda doesn't recognize .ogg files!? Feel free to use this(and any of my bootanimations) in any way you like. I never ask for donations but if you like/use it, you could always hit that thank button!
EDIT: For the sound you may have to copy it to both system/media and system/media/audio. ALSO - THIS ONLY WORKS ON STOCK OR STOCK BASED, AOSP HAS BOOT SOUNDS DISABLED.

GERONIMO!
Thanks to everyone on xda, the BBC, everyone in the #lg-optimus-g irc channel and anyone else I may have forgot!
Feel free to leave feedback and suggestions!
Sick boot ani. Note: I'm running official liquid smooth. I couldn't get sound to work at all. Tried putting it in both spots, changing permissions, even tried renaming the file by taking the sprint off the end. And any combination of the 3, no dice on sound.

From what I now understand, AOSP roms have boot sounds disabled by default or simply don't support them(like cyanogenmod who never plans to support boot sounds). This link I found here may prove helpful. It seems like quite a bit of things need to be modified on a custom rom to enable or allow boot sounds. I have not had the time to try this so as always, make a nandroid before altering anything. As soon as I get the time I will flash liquid and see if I can get this to work(unless you beat me to it). Certain roms like Mahdi have an option in settings to enable boot sounds, but each rom is slightly different. On AOSP it also has to be named "android_audio.mp3", it can't be an .ogg file. We've talked on hangouts so you know my current work schedule - as soon as I have time I will test and try to get this to work on as many roms as possible(I'll do liquid first) and then post detailed instructions per rom in a different guide that I will link to here.
Would I be able to use this on a verizon G3?

I wouldn't recommend it as is, but @KachowPow has it in his LG G3 bootanimation thread, although without sound(I think). But why dont you use my updated one? It's in LG G3 themes and apps and looks incredible on the g3. It's my daily driver boot animation because my phone is doctor who themed, lol.

If you haven't seen it, trust me, it will blow you away when your phone boots.

Thanks for the heads up! Is it an actual Doctor Who theme you created, or just different elements put together? I use Liquid Smooth on my g3 and am using a black and blue theme that almost the same color as the tardis. ,As with the Star Wars stuff I would be in nerd heaven for a complete Doctor Who theme!!!!

No I use my Doctor Who Navbar theme but the rest is patched together. I use galaxy live wallpaper and two different nova icon sets as well as a few made icons like the tardis app drawer.

The black pixel animations on xda didn't have sound and some had some white around the dots so I made my own.

Nice! I've been looking for something like this. Looks great. Excellent work.
Good work!
Attached is a flashable version using file supplied.
Does the sound file stay in the zip? Or does it want extracting to a directory? As if so, it may be lacking sound.
P.s I can't test sound as baby has just gone off. And my wife may kill me if I wake her

Great thanks. The sound stays in the zip. I just took the original images and modified it. I'm probably going to upload a new version because the numb under the Google logo is bothering me.
No problem. If you update it you can release as flashable using zip provided and just paste over the bootanimation.zip in system/media. Inside the zip and its ready to go.
I was hoping to make / port some boot animations over to the pixel/ xl but no laptop makes it very difficult at the moment.
Look forward to see more from you.
I just updated it with a better looking G at the end. Links are all in the OP.
@tiboric
This is my first time ever doing something like this. Its an interesting learning experience. How does the update-binary work? I see how I can modify the updater-script to my own needs, but is there some program to generate the update-binary?
Too be honest me too, I'm use to QMG boot animations on Samsung's . this is a new format to me although it doesn't seems to have changed much since the early days of android.... More research is needed me thinks
Where did you get the update scripts from? I tried opening the binary but its just data. I was actually scrolling for black pixel boots but couldn't find any good ones so I took a dive into the zip file. It was surprisingly easy to edit.

Thanks for the contribution.

Who is the original creator of this flashable zip?
Not the animation but the zip itself?
I was never able to mod zips before to flash on Pixel.
And I've modded a ton of zips & updater scripts for all my previous phones.
But Pixel was... resistant.
But this freakin zip is working great and looks... "normal" like I'm used to.
I need to know who to give credit to for after I snag it for other purposes.
works very nicely-thank you!
very nice job my friend.. this is how it should've been in from the beginning.. the white is so bright when you restart your phone at night.. lol
Great Job Thank you looks much better than the stock.
Not been on in a while, but it is Tulsadiver's font zip, so give him all the Thanks

I was just about to start editing the white one to make it black but i searched instead and found this... although i compared my editing to this one, my editing shows a bit off-coloring but with better resolution.. so i stopped editing.. .. well they are about 400+ pictures damn lol it will take long time.. so this one is better
EDIT: I just took this and edited a few pics in the beginning .. made it start with a smooth simple effect

Awesome! I actually used photoshop's batch actions to create the animation. It would have taken way to long to do it all by hand.
What is the difference between the intro you made and the one that I have up? If it's better you could send me the file and I'll put it in the op.
