Well, anything that is comparable to stock sense camera app? Especially, the panorama and instant burst are hard to beat.
Stock CM9 camera works most but burst mode is too many steps to reach (and fixed) and panorama mode gives poor resolution.
For effect cam, there are lots of apps, such as, camera360, cameraMX, cameraFX, etc.... those are not hard to find.

hey i wanna know some good app for clicking pic like a DSLR camera .. lol kidding.. want a app that uses the wfs camera AT ITS OPTIMUM level.. and gives me the best pic it can everytime.. let it be a paid app or free but tell me some nice ones thanks in advance..
Camera zoom FX, Camera 360, Camera ICS, ProCapture, MIUI camera.
All of them give, more or less, similar results (you can't expect pro photos from mediocre hardware) and all of them has options that makes them diferent:
- Zoom FX and camera 360 have filters that you can apply right on picture;
- ProCapture has interesting and usable panorama mode;
- Camera ICS has 2x video birtrate recording... etc.
But... what i learned from years of photo hobby and what i missed from stock camera (don't use stock rom long time now) was "touch to focus" option which is visible right on display and really makes changes to exposure of photos. Camera 360 has that one but it doesn't do anything (at least for me) to exposure at all.
So curently i use MIUI camera which have that possibility and it does make photos as close as possible to what i want.
UCam is a better cam app. You try it

Hy everybody,
I can't bear Sense any longer (multitasking is crap, everything is full of scam etc...)
Tried out some AOSP rom's and you can't come back, even for the cam...
So here is my question, is there a camera app out there with the same features ? (taking pics during filming, rapid burst shots to select the best one)
Thank you very much

I don't really think there is a camera that has any of the advanced features of the Sense camera. The Sense camera was built for the camera in this phone, so it can utilize all the features. Camera Zoom FX has some effects, I hear people like lgcamera too.
I know what you mean though. I'd love a non-Sense ROM, but I don't want to give up the camera. The camera is a very important part of the phone to me.
There are ROMs that are mostly AOSP while retaining some parts of the Sense framework.
JDR0iD_eXoDiZeD is one example, and it has the Sense camera app.
The only problem with most of these camera apps is that they produce images with too much noise (at least on the HOX).
Camera ICS + is good for pics.
Nothing beats LGCamera as far as recording videos is concerned.

I have:
- ICS+ camera (for pictures and video)
- LG Camera (for pictures and very good for video)
- Camera FV-5 (for picture with advanced/professional settings)
- Shot Control (for picture with advanced/professional settings)
- Pro Capture (for picture with lot of settings and burst mode)
Does AOSP Camera kill quality? I like CM but I like also good pictures quality...

I've never found AOSP to kill quality, the only difference if the ratio of the image compared with Sense.
It's not as good as the Sense camera as it doesn't make use of the image sense chip. Sense version is optimised.

I think the panorama function is better in the aosp camera
Colours and details are often much less prominent in the AOSP camera. I've done my own comparisons and the Sense camera has better white balance in photos, though details remain mostly the same. Some AOSP ROMs have very grainy camera quality though. When it comes to video, Sense ROMs record MUCH better footage with more accurate colours and much more detail, frame rates remain similar though. To capture photos with better colours when using the AOSP camera, you often need to manually change the white balance as the "auto" setting isn't very effective for getting realistic looking shots.
The Sense camera is also faster at opening up and at shooting and processing panorama photos. The Sense camera also has far better touch (and auto) focus, the AOSP camera is often difficult to focus for close ups but the Sense camera almost always focuses correctly. Additionally, the AOSP camera has somewhat fixed focus for video recording, where auto focus still sort of works but you can't touch the screen to focus because this takes photos during recording (this is how this feature was implemented on the AOSP camera). So basically, while recording video, you have to hope the phone knows what you're trying to focus on, especially if you want to take photos while recording. On the AOSP camera, taking photos while recording also has impacts on the frame rate at times.
The AOSP camera also can take a long time to switch between photo, video or panorama (depending on the ROM you're using). Burst fire is also a joke on AOSP ROMs, put simply, it doesn't work. You can take photos faster by tapping on the shoot button really quickly.
The most critical thing for me is the start up and focus time of the AOSP camera that makes you lose the moment where you needed to take that photo while something awesome was happening. I have some fairly stupid friends, who do very funny things, which i will often record hahaha, so it's quite disappointing when i miss that moment with AOSP ROMs. I've never really missed "that moment" on a Sense ROM though.
These are just my opinions though, i hope someone can find this post useful!
I'm running Cyanogenmod 10 now, but I really don't like the Android 4.1 (nor 4.2) camera app.
The 4.1 camera wastes a whole lot of viewfinder space for the on-screen capture button, while the 4.2 camera only does pictures up to 8 megapixels and it crashes when tapping the screen while recording videos (probably due to the Xperia S being unable to do touch-focus in video mode)
Therefore I'd like to know what the best, most functional camera app of the moment is, for Android.
I'd like to be able to take both stills and videos with the same app, as well as being able to switch scene modes and use other common settings.
And more importantly, it has to look right. I want to be able to access everything I need quickly and it should feel as if it were a stock app.
If anyone could help me and probably others too, It'd be greatly appreciated. :good:
Stock camera.
Maybe Lg Camera.

Stock camera app from Sony have some problem with the focus when taking picture at dark place, the picture taken also quite blurry.
majority of the time out of focus.
I have Xperia S ICS (.55) and I use Stock Camera cuz its the Best.
Normally I use Auto but I already Customize Norma Mode for use in different Mood.
I use Cybershot mod with HDR

Same as this guy.
I don't know why Camera Zoom FX always takes better pictures than the stock camera app
I'm really interested in Camera Zoom FX. Does anyone know if it works on Cyanogenmod 10? The stock camera app on it doesn't have enough settings
