Galaxy S2 iPod audio adapter - Galaxy S II Accessories

As the Galaxy S2 actually has micro-usb audio support. Is it posible to get a connector with micro-usb mal in one end and a female iPod Dock port-adapter in the other end? Does anyone know how to make one if posible? the pinouts and everything.
This should exist?
Kind Regards
Aavar
Edit: Just like the dockboss+ but with only micro usb and no 3,5mm jack. With charging and audio...

I don't think that such an adapter is possible, because of the different output used from the iphone and the sgs2.

Thank you for your reply.
What do you mean with different output?

Different output means different voltage

In fact there is an adaptor... you can do it yourself, you'll need the pinout of the ipod dock, a female ipod connector, a microusb cable and a 3.5 mm jack.
The rest is soldering skills and that's it

The different voltage is no problem. I am using a Iphone charger with 1A output on my GS2 with no problem. Most USB-chargers work with any device. That is part of the USB-Standard.
The cable you are refering to maxihinz is the dockboss+. It is exacly what I am looking for exept I want to eliminate the 3,5mm jack. It should be poslible, as the GS2 has audio out in the micro usb connector.
Does abobody have a pinout for this? If not does anybody have the knowlege to make a dockboss+?

Try Elektrodroid there are the pinouts you need

How to make OTG work?

I bought a micro usb to female usb adapter and I've tried using Faux's kernal, Da_G's .42 kernel and Bullet 2.9 but plugging in the adapter with any usb does not seem to work.. is there any app I need or like how do I verify that it works?

Nope it should work right away. What are you trying to connect? Also, it's possible that it's a bad adapter.

YOU NEED AN ACTUAL OTG CABLE, NOT JUST AN ADAPTER.
Yes all caps, this has been stated time and time again, some people have had luck with the i9100 cables , some have not, you need a cable that works with either the t989 or Hercules, but, I have tested one that was made for the Xoom and it worked as well ...
Well I bought it online and I'm assuming it was made for OTG because what else could you possibly use one for? idk maybe there's another use for it but I can't think of one.
I read something online about shorting the 4 pin to 5 or something, could that work?
And I've tried connecting 3 different flash drives

Yes that could work, that is usually what a OTG cable does, but depends on the phone, the regular adapters are used, to use an Mini USB cable/charger on a Micro port , I use them all the time, because I have dozens of older chargers ....
Ok so I ripped open the adapter and the build quality was too good so I had to just rip the heads off lol so now I have a micro usb end with no wires connected and a female usb with no wires on it. Can I take 5 thin wires and connect the appropriate pins on the micro usb end to the corresponding pins on the female one?
If anyone has a guide to do this, it'd be appreciated

Thanks I tried working it for about half an hour but i couldn't get it to work. I'll just have to order one that is specifically for OTG.
Just as a reference for other noobs like me, the wire MUST be otg for it to work

Audio Out / Charge micro USB cable

Hi there,
I'm looking at returning back to the Android scene with a nice shiny new S3 after being over on the dark side with my iPhone (I know I know!!!). However, I do love one of the things I can do with my iPhone which is listen to my music in the car via the port at the bottom by using a Y cable which splits the output into a USB plug (for charging) and a 3.5mm Jack for AUX in sound.
Does the S3 offer music output and charging via the micro USB slot at the bottom? Has anyone tried this? I've done numerous search's and keep coming up short, with the exception of a post on here that shows the amendment of an iPhone Y cable into a Micro USB version, but that was for the S2.
If your interested in a car dock the Samsung infuse dock works for a single dock connection, but of course the dock has a charger and audio lead.
Hmm, worth thinking about! It's the all in one solution I'm after, so this might work.
Any idea if Samsung are going to bring an official dock for the s3?

We are all looking but the only thing official so far was a cradle (no connections). Speculation was perhaps an inductive charging dock but?..

The microusb does support outputting audio+taking in power.
I haven't seen a cheap cable for that purpose but just made one myself in the end from an old usb cable, an audio cable and a 690K resistor.
A y-cable made for the S2 should work fine on the S3 (that is what I based my cable on)
Ebay will probably have something suitable
Thanks for that, any write up on how it's done? What's the sound quality like please?

MHL to VGA?

Does anyone know if there is a MHL to VGA adapter that works with the SIII? I have an older monitor that I'd like to use with my phone. I'm not really concerned about sound.

The only MHL cable that exists so far is the official Samsung HDMI.
So if you desperate to do that you'll have to spend about $30 on the cable and I don't know how much for a HDMI to VGA converter box.
You've no chance just now. Maybe some day!

No.
This is my problem also since I never know when I will have to connect to my phone to an old analog projector to make a presentation.
If your monitor has dvi then you can get a hdmi/dvi coupler which very cheap. A hdmi to VGA converter is about $38 from monoprice.
I'm thinking of experimenting and getting the mhl to get hdmi, a hdmi to dvi coupler, then a dvi to VGA coupler. The couplers are all less than $3 and I have to buy the mhl adapter anyway.
Good luck to us!

in theory, that should work fine, but what is your plan for audio?
Just go straight for the HDMI to VGA converter because that has the audio out and gonna be more use than DVI.

Just use a pin jack to RCA left/right and plug to headphone jack. Arrgh, too many cables to bring around. At least with my iPod or iPad I can just bring their dock to hdmi adapter or dock to RCA adapter video/audio.

$38 is a bit too much for something that I may use two or three times a year. If my "daisy chaining" couplers/adapters doesn't work then I'll just have to bring my iPad as backup.

Would this A/V cable work?

Yeo, I've been wondering for awhile if there were any decent composite video out options for smartphones these days, be it through the 3.5 mm jack or mhl.
And so I've found this, and am wondering if anyone has any idea if this would work with the HTC One?
Err, I can't post links yet, since I've been a lurker for years. Just go to eBay and search "290904213972" and it will show up.
I actually do have a 3.5 mm to composite cable, but no HTC One to test it with xD so any input on that would be appreciated too.
I do know that some phones did work with the 3.5 mm jack for video out in the past, but it was not an advertised feature.
Thanks guys :fingers-crossed:
that cable is for the HTC Touch Pro (per product description in ebay), that use a slightly modified version of MINI USB port, HTC ONE uses the MICRO USB port for data, charging and MHL (which is the common option to connect the one to a tv (captain ovious)), so...it not even could be plugged, so you can not use that cable with the ONE
Geez, I didn't even look at the cable. Auto-assumed it was micro. Oh well, anyone know of any alternatives?
The best you can do is grab a MHL adapter, hdmi to RCA/AV and a female to female HDMI splitter. Although, I think most HDMI to RCA/AV cables are to allow you to output to HDMI. I don't exactly know if it's two way or one way, so someone else can chime in on that. Although you can probably get all 3 for about $15.
I've always understood that when switching from analog (rca) to digit (hdmi) or the other way around, you need a processor to convert the signal - a dedicated box that requires power and is usually expensive.
I've worked in av for a few years and this was true working with dvi and a few other connections, but I hadn't worked with hdmi so I can't confirm this.

Oh. Right. I totally forgot about that. Although I did see a converter box for about 30 on eBay yesterday.

Yea, those cables that purportedly go from hdmi and branch off into RCA supposedly don't work. I was thinking of the converter box, just wondering if there were any cheaper, uglier solutions.
What about 3.5mm to RCA? Is that supported on the One?
I don't believe 3.5mm to rca is available on newer phones as we have MHL

maybe you could get an extension for one of these?

^ what he said. One of those, plus a usb cord extension wire and then a usb car charger would be your best solution.
I'm not sure how much power OTG uses, but anything with 2.1A output will charge (very slowly) while using navigation and data. The cable coupled with a 2.1A charger should do the job.
Hope this helps!

try it: T & S Electronics Micro USB OTG Cable
it is solidly built, has sturdy connectors, high quality COPPER wiring and is the highest quality USB OTG cable you can get. This is reflected in the fact it is also the highest rated OTG cable on Amazon
