its possible for the PEOPLE to sue icrap i mean apple since they are trying to limit consumer choice

I LOVE MY S3 what do you guys think of this/
From Apple Insider: "The four new patents Apple is leveraging against Samsung include the '647 "Data Detectors" patent, the '721 "Slide-to-unlock" property, the '172 "Word completion" invention and the '604 "Universal search" patent."
Those patents are garbage. They are neither "novel" or "non-obvious". Come on US, the UK already figured out that at least one of those is invalid.

Does anyone think creating individual forum sections for carriers would be worthwhile? I was thinking a place to discuss coverage, prices, features, pros, cons, apps for each major carrier (ie Verizon, at&t, Sprint, Tmobile, and of course biggies in other countries).
Wonderful Idea!!!
Just one issue: it would get WAY OUT of hand...
Carrier lovers vs. Angry Customers
Just think about how many mods would have to go through those forums... Mods would be moderating all day/night...
Such forums, if ever launched, would get shut down...

There are plenty of oddly controversial topics discussed here... WP 7.5 vs Android.
I actually envisioned somewhere where you can discuss rate plans, specials, deals, coverage, LTE, contracts, etc. Some of that information is available scattered throughout the forum but there is no central repository. I just thought it might be worth a go.
Plus I don't think there are carrier "lovers." Their are people that hate particular carriers, but the rest of us use our particular carrier for utilitarian reasons. Some of us may have flaws in our logic or facts from time to time but I wouldn't confuse that with "love."
Carrier lover? I think everyone hates their carrier equally. None of them are really great, they charge way too much, and don't care about if your service actually works. Not much more to discuss after that. THREAD CLOSED.
As for the idea in the OP about carrier forums, sounds great! Might help people which carrier has better reception in their area, get a better deal, etc. Might help figure out carrier specific issues.

What this guy said.....
Also, our main focus here is development. There isn't much that would be said in such a forum that you couldn't find in each carriers own support forums.

Excuse me... you have no authority to close this thread... you have every right to report this to a moderator so that this thread alone doesn't get out of hand, which I completely agree with, but you absolutely have no right this thread... You are a member, not a moderator...
I apologize if I come off as rude or insulting but this was just wrong.

Which post you referring to?
If you mean my post, it is a joke. Just a joke, kinda like that would be the extent of the carrier fanboy discussion. Again just some comedy. Read it as a joke and maybe you will laugh. It was not my intent to close this thread, I hate when threads are closed by anyone. Just a little humor regarding the carrier fanboy war comments!

Applications for moderator are currently closed, but if you are interested go here and read everything all the way down to the bottom.
No offense dude, but you can't just join a forum, make 30 posts and ask to be moderator of a site for 4.5 million users.

I totally agree. Even if applications were open to become a moderator, I wouldn't even think about applying simply because I've only been here a few months and know that I wouldn't get accepted.

I mean, if you've been helpful by all means apply. But it's really hard to judge the quality of someone's posts by just 30 of them. People joining to become mods is common with very small forums where the admin will put up a thread saying, "APPLY HERE TO BE A MOD" to attract users. But not on a site like this. This is the most professional (by size and internet standing) forum I've been a part of. Personally, I have moderator experience but I wouldn't bother applying because I have a tendency to not sugar-coat things when a person is wrong. I'm calm and concise but for example, I have absolutely no patience for Marketplace scammers.
But anyways, I digress. Before you think of applying for a moderator position, make sure you have posts to back it up. And if you feel the need to post differently than you normally would just to become a moderator, don't bother applying because you can be demoted if you abuse your powers and talk down to people.

Yeah definitely. I totally agree, especially with the bit I've bolded. Even if I felt, at a later stage, that I was ready to apply for said position, I probably wouldn't be approved anyway. But to be perfectly honest, I'm more than happy just to be able to be a part of this great community and obviously I'll always continue to help out others when I can, regardless.

From experience, being a mod is cool at first, but having to deal with tons of reported posts becomes tedious. You would think being a moderator is better than being a regular user, but the truth is moderators are restricted in what they can say and what they can do. So I can call another user a douchebag, but if a moderator did that he'd put his position in danger. I can sell in the Marketplace, but a moderator (I think) can not.

Hey everyone!
I am not so sure if this is the right place to ask but would anyone feel the need to have a site dedicated for Phablets?
:good:If you answered YES what would you personally like to see on the site?
I'm looking to create a community where people can find everything there is to know about Phablets, where developers can post up any Phablet related apps or roms they may have created.
P.S volunteers are welcomed! shoot me a PM
Right now I am interested in a friendly to developer community phablet, and I would like a site like this. Right now its a toss up between a galaxy not ii and Sony xperia z but its hard to find compilations of phablet information so I fear buyers remorse when I eventually do decide. Oh if it had comparison functionality I would like a developer friendly ness rating swell as carrier support rating, networks it supports and other facts about carrier like quality of service.

Pro:
Since more and more copanies are deciding to make one, i guess that is a good idea. It's a good thing that we finally move away from this "make everything as small as possible" trend that's been around since the 90s... databse of phablets, size comparisons, available roms database, and some nice entries about the market in general - who announced what etc.
Con:
Since all out phablets use the phone OS with phone UI as default, i guess on the software side our devices are just bigger smartphones, there's no difference between the S3 and Note 2 in terms of the OS - and if we modify our UI to run it in tablet mode - well, that's a different story.

It is possible to retain 4G LTE access on the S3 to Sprint after account suspension.
Anyone interested in the steps I took? I no longer have the device used to achieve this since being robbed at gunpoint.
Sprint confirms data usage on 4G on my account after suspension and "that can't happen".
After numerous attempts to pass this information on to them and their asinine responses I believe it may be time for some egg on ze ole face.

Welp, you have your audience, though your choice of theater is suspect/curious. I'm all digital ears.
Looking to get some feedback from the actual device owners. Someone, who has this phone, the box and documentation that came with in their possession. I'm not interested in links to any websites, including official Xiaomi / Mi sites, or any specifications, pasted from a web source. I just want to hear back from device owners. If you do not own the device and have thoughts/opinions to share, please create another thread for that purpose. Thank you for understanding
Does the phone variant you have support wireless charging? If not - have you tried using wireless charging receiver with it, something like this one?
Can you list FDD-LTE bands your phone supports? They should be published either on the product box or inside the documentation that came with (again - no web links or sources, please)
If you don't mind sharing - where did you buy yours from?
TIA

Since you closed the other thread, I replied to your comments and your decision to close it in private, but if you want an answer here - I'm absolutely fine with that. The answer to your question is: I don't consider having started anything on the wrong foot, either now or ever. Targeting specifically device owners with questions is not unprecedented, not against forum rules and is actually quite common on XDA. There are hundreds of threads, where people ask owners for device review, or ask questions like "where did you buy it from?" or "How is the battery life?" - all of these can only be answered by someone, who owns the device. On the other hand, your notion or "suggestion" that there is something wrong with asking for owners' feedback is rather uncommon, and unprecedented in my 10+ years of experience as XDA member (and a lot longer as unregistered reader). I am sincerely hoping you will reconsider your position and retract your comments. In other thread, which you closed, I provided details explanations why I want feedback from owners (even though I didn't owe anyone explanation about target audience for my questions), so I'm not gonna repeat it here. There is really, absolutely nothing wrong with asking for owners feedback/advice and it is done all the time - let me know if you want some examples of such other XDA threads.

I won't reply to anything above here. That can be discussed privately.
All I've asked is for this thread to remain respectful for every one, unlike the last one, or it's fate will be the same. Never once did I imply the topic is invalid, only the senseless arguing was.
Thank you. :good:
As a suggestion: you could contact Xiaomi support. I'm sure they'd give you a more trustworthy answer than anything you read posted here, as you can't verify the poster is telling the truth. So, as the saying goes, get it from the horse's mouth - and then you could inform the community of your findings.
Nope no wireless charging.. have a whole bunch of wireless chargers from my Nexus 6, LG G3, S7 Edge and S9 Plus. It's physically impossible to have one too.
