We can oc the processor but has anyone tried the ram? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I was just on a website that had snapdragons complete lineup thru 2012 and I found our msm8960 and it says we have xxxddr2 @533mhz (XXX bcuz I can't remember the freaky model number). I don't no if the kernel devs have already oc'd the ram and just decided not to say bcuz it wasn't important but is it possible?

I am very interested to know whether we can overclock the RAM or not.

Yea I am also very interested in this. Would be neat if we could.

This question may sound dumb to some but what benefit do you get from OCing the ram?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app

Seems to me that overclocking this phone is no longer required. This cpu and gpu are plenty fast for anything thrown at it so why bother? Can anyone truly find an example where ocing was worthwhile?

I honestly just wanna see if its possible bcuz oveecloxking the ram would help get rid of the bottle neck the 1.7 gigs of ram we have creates. Admit it how many times have your ram been loaded to about 1.3 gigs and r phone seems rediculoualy laggy ocing the ram wud help reduce the bottle neck.

Ive never had less than 1gb of ram available. What does seem to slow my phone down is cached process. Ill see my browser using 100mb and my phone lagging bad. Clearing the browser fixes this. No idea why having 100 mb tied up slows the phone so bad...

Overclocking ?

I would like to know if it's possible to overclock without running a custom rom and just running a rooted EH06 stock. I used roms b4 but now I just want to stick to the stock Touchwiz. I happen to like their feeds n updates a lot and a few other stuff. Plus might be handing my Epic down for the gs2 wen it arrives. So is it possible?

This oc app really made my phone unstable, and it ran hot and killed batteries. Though, it could have been a combination of things tthat I did. I would not recommend it. But, good luck!
I didn't try the kernel. I just found it odd that a kernel was available through the market, so I stayed away from it.

I did, but then I got rid of it because it caused it to sleep-die frequently. But lately, my phone has been sleep-dying regardless. It does make it faster, but with the high frequency of deaths, it was annoying to keep running it every time i turned the phone back on.

Which version do you mean?
And why does Google keeps changing it?
Or is perfect with each change?
And why, with ICS, does Google make minfrees dynamic ie. different depending on a devices RAM instead of them being the same on every device like it was before?
And why did they do that after I did?
Hell, why did htc copy my bulletproof launcher on a recent stock rom for the One X by giving it a priority of 0?

Hmm, maybe someone with experience using this should benchmark it on a Modern ROM and let us know what the results are. I've seen people swear by it in the past, but have never seen much in the way of the results backing it up *Grin*.

V6 seemed to help on the OG epic.. I haven't attempted on this phone due to (as what is stated already) us having enough Ram to compensate. The OG epic was slightly lacking in that department lol
I use v6 on every ROM I run. When I first looked at the OOM settings on this phone they were so low nothing ever got killed until a few hours later. At first I thought v6 wouldn't make a difference like it did on my Evo because this phone has plenty of RAM but I feel like it did after running the script.

Switched from an HTC Amaze to the Galaxy S 2 (Issuse)

I switched from the amaze to the S2, the first thing the stands out to me, how slow the keyboards are on the S2. I could text pretty fast on the amaze and never have a lag issue, as with the s2, sometimes it won't even pick up a key stroke or a word I have entered. I am a huge 4x3 T9 user, I loved the keyboard that was on the amaze, Is it possible to get an apk of that keyboard and put it on the S2?
Could it even be a screen issue? I feel like sometimes I have to hit the space bar 2 or 3 times.
Keyboard lag is a key known issue with ICS.. If you want a T9 keyboard you might want to consider a third party apps that does it because I have tried to use keyboards from LG HTC and others and I could never get them to work

I have been thinking about flashing a custom rom, but at the same time this is my only phone and I don't have a lot of money. The chances of bricking it are slim, I'm tech savvy, but if i do I'm SOL. As for haptic feedback, there is no option under sound...

Well when you stated that you have a XXXX score in QUADRANT anybody can assume you are referring to a score with the QUADRANT APPLICATION. What you have is a XXXX score on benchmark using ANTUTU BENCHMARK APPLICATION. The best score using QUADRANT I see posted for our phone is 4780 if I'm not wrong. Antutu is a benchmark APPLICATION, not a QUADRANT APPLICATION. You are confusing the terms. Just go to GOOGLE PLAY STORE and search for benchmarks and the first or second is QUADRANT STANDARD. I got the ANTUTU BENCHMARK, and my score with CM10 is 8040. But with QUADRANT is only 3980. Hope that clarified the confusion.

Not to call you out, but that's impossible. Here's your scores vs. my stock scores.
CPU - 51,129/14,819
Memory - 5172/5328
I/O - 10,828/11,452
2D - 926/971
3D - 2207/2025
So all the difference is in CPU and your score is 73% higher than mine. That's physically impossible from the same SoC. Indivual iterations of the same SoC can be faster and slower but usually by 10%. So either someone's been play with Photoshop or the SoC in that device has been drastically altered.

Let me introduce you to AnTuTu; it's free on Play.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antutu.ABenchMark&hl=en
If your device is actually generating that score in Quadrant it will be equally high in AnTuTu. It should take you above five minutes to download and run. Less time than it's taken for you to start and comment in this thread.
So basiclly your asking me to run antutu let me download and run its probably just a glitch in the app

You posted an absolutely outrageous Quadrant score that's roughly three times what even those who overclocked their SoC are getting and then said "can anybody beat this?" So yes, either you're simply in awe of a mistake in the app or you're trolling. It's hard to tell which at this point. In all my time on XDA I've never seen "a glitch in the app" to the degree you've posted that was accidental.
