CM9/RobotoMod clock - HTC Wildfire S

I just put RobotoMod-Xena 1.0.1 on my phone last night, but didn't completely finish ironing out all the glitches on the install before I needed to hit the sack. I use my phone as my alarm clock, and managed to figure out how to set it while I was darned near already asleep.
So, this morning at the bright-n-early time of 5:15 AM, the alarm goes off. I'm used to the Sense desk clock that pops up a window when the alarm sounds asking if you want to deactivate it, or snooze it. That window wasn't there, and I couldn't get the alarm to shut off (which really pissed off my wife ). I finally had to power down the phone to get it quiet.
I don't know if this is a CM9 or RobotoMod thing, but how in the world do you deactivate a sounding alarm? Or should I find an actual Alarm clock app and use it instead? I'd rather not, since it defeats the purpose of having it built into the phone in the first place (IMHO).

u said u used the Sense desk clock , mean not the origin cm9 clock ?

No, I meant that I was used to the sense clock that was on the stock ROM before I loaded RobotoMod/CM9. It's the CM9 clock I'm having troubles with (I think) - I don't know if the RobotoMod devs changed that or not. I'm still trying to figure out where everything is in the code so I can find it for myself, but I'm not having much luck.

robotoMod rom's clock work fine on me , did you try to reflash the rom?

Yeah, it's on the third try right now. One complete wipe and reflash, and one reflash without wiping. The clock works fine - its the alarm that I can't turn off once it goes off.

hmmm....that's odd. I'm just sitting here at the desk and decided to test this again. The phone is not plugged in, and I used the 2nd alarm slot (default Sat. and Sun. alarm). A "snooze or dismiss" window pops up, and worked. The volume buttons were set to dismiss, and that worked. I just changed them to snooze, and it worked.
I'm going to go back to the first alarm slot and verify it works there, then I'm going to attach the charger to it and make sure it works before my wife gets really, really, realllllly annoyed with me on Tuesday :fingers-crossed:

Is it hopeless to try to use my tp2 as an alarm?

Apparently it switches off every night with touchflo. I don't want to have to buy g-alarm to have to use what would seem like a simple function on a phone. Even if the alarm does manage to go off, it runs the risk of being too short. Should I just use my razr as an alarm again? this is ridiculous.

I use mine for an alarm every morning. Plugged in or not it still wakes me up.
Paying for G-Alarm? I must have an older version that was free. It works great.
I use it for 3 alarms.. Work, Class on saturday and Raid (WoW =)
All with TF3D 2.1 (EnergyROM).. no issues.
maybe i just had a bad rom. I just changed to energyrom. I'll see if I wake up on time tomorrow.
You can also try klaxon, i use it for waking up. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412669
alarms
klaxon has been my preferred since touch pro. you do have to open it now and again as sometimes it forgets- but once you have opened and shut it again its reliable (i assume its restarting the phone thats the culprit)

WM6.5 alarm clock not always working

Using stock ROM (Vodafone) and the in-built alarm clost doesn't always work... not sure why, as it's random.
Anyone else got the same problem, or better still a reason why it's not working?
I am using a custom wav sound, which is large (attached) - but without it the alarm just doesn't wake me up!
The build-in alarm of WM is unreliable since it's birth.
Long, long time ago, when I overslept once more, I bought pTravelAlarm.
A few bucks and your problem is over.
(But there are also free alarms like Klaxon.)
I have not had any problems with the alarm actually going off. However, I have noticed that it will sometimes play not only the alarm sound but also the "reminder" sound. I'm not sure why this is and it doesn't seem to happen every day. I would suggest trying a smaller sound file or maybe set up a test of the alarm and your custom sound during some time when you can observe it. Perhaps you can see if there are any special conditions that make it not go off (other programs running, checking email or something, etc...)
I am having the same problem all of a sudden
It always worked on 6.1 (and some custom ROMs)
It worked on the official 6.5 ROM
I installed Tomtom and alarm stopped working. I removed it and the alarm worked. I installed some other apps (.NET 3.5, email scheduler, timesynctz, flitsnav) and the alarm stopped working. I haven't been able to pin it down on 1 app. I removed them one by one but the problem now persists...
I have had the same problem. Woke up to late and looked at the screen where it said that he couldn't connect to the internet (probably to sync my email). When I pressed ignore, the alarm went off, email came in etc.
Maybe it better to use Klaxon or G alarm...
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Sounds]
“Repeat”=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{15F11F90-8A5F-454c-89FC-BA9B7AAB0CAD}]
"Options"=dword:4000001B
Ok, what does that code snipit (registry settings) actuall mean/do???
Same thing here... alarm sometimes fails to go off. I have noticed when it happens that the clock is locked up and is not at the current time. Also the top left of the screen says "messaging" instead of "Start"
I've noticed the messaging deal pop up from time to time for no particular reason... and when it does the clock stops keeping time. I think the fact that the clock stops is the only reason the alarm fails to go off. Any button or screen press will unfreeze the clock.
This is on a TP2 T-Mobile official 6.5 rom. Reflashed several times, and problem always returns. Unsure if it happened on the original shipped rom.
I've had issue and changed to SPB Time, never had an issue there.
Are you sure your phone wasn't locking up in the middle of the night? I have had that happen, the Blank Screen of Death locks me up, the phone just sits idle and alarms don't go off.
has anyone tried the registry settings of HD2Owner? You have to add the new settings? How does it work?

Clock widget not updating when sleeping

Hi guys,
Hopefully this is a known problem - I have the stock clock/weather widget on my main screen, but if I leave my phone for a while (say 10 mins) and go back in, the time widget will be stuck on the time previous to when I locked it and then change to the current time after 2 secs or so. I cant remember having this before, as I've had the desire for a week or so. I factory reset yesterday after a apps2sd fix messed with my widgets and its still doing it.
Any ideas?
Cheers.
Well mine does the same and always did. It's probably because it is not running when the phone is on standby
Cool thanks for that, its no biggy really, I just wasn't sure if it would mess with my alarm or anything.
Always done this for me on all version of Android...doesn't bother me tbh
On Sense versions with the flip clock it'll always default 1hr and 1min back so it can show the 'flip' each time you unlock the screen...
And yes alarm should be working fine
Thats good enough for me, thanks guys.

Alarm Icon not always showing

Many times when I reboot the alarm icon on the notificaiton bar would go away. I would manually get into the alarm program and get back out to trigger it back on. Is it just me or does that happen to you guys as well?
Thanks,

This happens to me as well on my Sprint Note 2 running rooted stock LK8. I first noticed it when I was running ADW EX launcher over TouchWiz. Are you running the stock launcher? The "problem" seemed to go away when I uninstalled ADW EX and went back to TouchWiz. I use my phone as my daily alarm clock, so I couldn't risk my alarm not going off. It would've been nice to see if the alarm would still activate and the alarm clock icon was just a cosmetic glitch. With previous phones I would typically use a status bar hack to remove the alarm icon from the status bar anyway to get rid of the clutter, but I need to know if the alarm still works before I stop caring about the icon displaying.
I'm a little surprised more people haven't encountered this.
Lol, thanks brother for trying to help. The issue started on fully stock t-mobile rooted. Even when I updated to 4.1.2 stock rooted the problem persisted. For some reason, now it keeps its icon and I didn't really try to fix the problem. So I'm good now.\
But yeah I hear ya. I absolutely don't want to be late for work. It does seem to be a visual issue though since the alarm would work even without that icon. But there was this one time when I actually was late for work because it didn't work so I got super paranoid.
PS - This is why I am using circle alarm because it gives me a peace of mind with it's notification under the notification bar at all times. (not the most feature rich but that alone was worth it for me to use it)
I've always used PalmarySoft Alarms and it's always displayed in the notification bar, but I think it's using the Android alarm system to do it rather than its own code. I'm trying Nova Launcher now and it does the same thing as ADW EX. Since it's the weekend in going to see if my alarm works even if the icon isn't there. If the alarm works I'm just going to move on and consider it a cosmetic glitch.
If nothing else you've been a confirmation of sanity for me. I can't find anyone else who is having or has noticed this problem on the Note 2.

Question Bug or Rogue App?

For the past...3 days...my new Google Pixel 6 Pro has decided that 7 am is a good wake up time for me (the cats don't mind, they get fed earlier). It's not an alarm though, there's nothing to disable on the screen, and talking to the assistant to "disable alarm" does nothing. It starts at 7 sharp and crescendos until it ends at 7:02 exactly.
I looked through threads, and couldn't find anything similar, so am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this?
I know I had something similar, and there have definitely been similar reports previously in this section, although it's not Pixel 6-specific, and might not even be Pixel-specific at all. Check the "Bedtime" tab at the bottom right of the Clock app. Although in that case, it did show up as a separate alarm as well when I had it enabled.
Thanks for the thougth - that wasn't even enabled yet on my phone. Go figure, yesterday (my birthday as it were), I woke up on my own at 3 am and it never went off. This morning though? Back to the shenanagins. At this point I'm about ready to throw my hands in the air and just SET my normal alarm to 7!
As much of a pain it can be, I think if I were in your shoes for much longer, I would consider a factory reset. Either that or we could trade phones - my wake up time is 7 AM most mornings. j/k

Do you use Tasker? If so, I think the "Use Reliable Alarms" setting needs to be disabled, although this may relate to another clock/alarm issue and not the one you're having. Can try it anyway.

Sadly, not any more. I had previously removed Join (by I think the same author) because it meant going through adb and even then it didn't always work properly.
So, set my "normal" alarm to 7 am tomorrow. We'll see if that overrides the annoying alarm with my normal alarm. If so, I guess I just...deal with getting up at 7 am? Yay? My writing partner will appreciate that if it means I get more writing done...
When I flashed a13 beta 4.1 , I rebooted the device after root and this clicking sound came out of my p6pro, with no way to stop it. It got louder as it went too, scared me a bit
It was the alarm that must've been backed up to my Gmail or something. All I could do was flash the firmware again.

Does the one that you don't intentionally have use a different alarm sound, or anything else different about it (what the icon and/or alarm screen when it's going off)?
Yeah, finish Game of Thrones, will ya?

Yeah, it's got a beep that steadily increases in volume and frequency. BOTH went off at 7 am this morning, with me disabling MY alarm in relatively short order (have to solve a math problem) but the rogue one going until 7:02.
Haha, I wish I was that successful. I'd be happy to just break even on a book at this point!

When you got your phone did you install your apps from a backup, maybe from another phone? Also, do you have an old calendar event that may be triggering this?
Yes, I installed from my old phone, a Motorola One 5G Ace. It didn't really do it as a backup, which I thought was odd, but paired the two phones somehow.
I have no events on my calendar at 7 am. Any of my calendars, actually. I just went through them all and checked. I don't think I have any truly oddball apps - though I did have to switch to one new app with the transition to this phone. Pure Calendar Widget was no longer available, so I went to the paid version of Business Calendar. That doesn't appear to have any alarms associated with it.
I'm really at a loss. And as much as it would annoy me, I'm debating the factory reset. But if I restore from a backup, wouldn't I just be restoring the same problem back into place?

If you installed/transferred from an old phone, I'm wondering if you have an app or setting or something that got transferred over that is causing this. Maybe a system app that doesn't show up in the user app list or something.
Yeah, I wouldn't restore from an old phone or backup. Seen people have problems when doing this. A clean flash, imo, is always best when setting up a new phone, including clean installing all your apps. At least it will eliminate any problems that may have been caused by restoring old app data, etc...
See, part of my issue is I don't want to lose voicemails etc. My Mom died 2 months ago, so I want to make sure I keep those messages as long as I can...
I guess I go back to removing apps that I don't use consistently until I find the one causing issues.
I'll find out in several hours for sure, but I think I have been completely missing the mark blaming my phone (and it goes to show my hearing perception is fading) ... I got a new atomic alarm clock at the end of last month. After the beeping alarm went off this morning and my head happened to be turned in a different direction, I went over to that alarm clock and the alarm was turned on. Sigh. I've turned it off, but I bet you that solves my issues.
Boy do I feel like a moron now...
Not much help but when it goes off go to settings and look on notifications and should show rouge app that way maybe also you could try do not disturb mode but alarms could over ride it

Wow, glad you found the cause. That's all that matters.
A couple of years ago, for weeks I kept getting woken up by a noise which I was assuming was related to our cat (even though it was a new and regular noise). I finally found it was our spare refrigerator's icemaker accidentally got turned on, and I don't have that fridge hooked up to the water, so it kept trying to make ice out of air, and that fridge is on exactly the opposite side of the wall I sleep on. Not the same thing as your situation, but man, now the one or two times after that I heard that noise, I went straight to the spare fridge, and it was always that the icemaker accidentally got turned on, but it doesn't happen anymore, as we both now know to double-check that "arm" that turns it on after we're done in that fridge's freezer.
That alarm didn't go off this morning (shocker, right?) ... but I must have had a night terror that woke me up earlier, because I SWEAR I experienced my "normal alarm" (having to solve a math problem to turn off the alarm) and when I looked at the clock it was 6:43. I had adjusted my normal alarm back to 8:15. Needless to say I was up far before that point!
Great, so this stuff is driving me so nuts it's freaking me out in my sleep!
