Hi guys,
Hopefully this is a known problem - I have the stock clock/weather widget on my main screen, but if I leave my phone for a while (say 10 mins) and go back in, the time widget will be stuck on the time previous to when I locked it and then change to the current time after 2 secs or so. I cant remember having this before, as I've had the desire for a week or so. I factory reset yesterday after a apps2sd fix messed with my widgets and its still doing it.
Any ideas?
Cheers.
Well mine does the same and always did. It's probably because it is not running when the phone is on standby
Cool thanks for that, its no biggy really, I just wasn't sure if it would mess with my alarm or anything.
Always done this for me on all version of Android...doesn't bother me tbh
On Sense versions with the flip clock it'll always default 1hr and 1min back so it can show the 'flip' each time you unlock the screen...
And yes alarm should be working fine
Thats good enough for me, thanks guys.

Read a thread on here this morning about a second person who has managed to get the news widget update automatically by doing a hard reset so I took the plunge this morning and tried it.
At last, this is now finally working as in the sync settings, before I could add the news widet but never get it set up to sync as nothing happened when you pressed the icon.
Now though, this is able to be set up every 30mins like I wanted
Nice to see that HTC need to make you reset your phone to get some things working!
Glad it worked for you too. Seemed like others were laughing at the fix when I first posted it here.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
This seems to have worked for me also. By factory resetting, it has also freed up some memory and th phone seems a bit more responsive.
...and exactly THAT'S the reason why i always hardreset after a "major" udpate...
HTC seems to have fixed many of the background data / update mechanism-issues which were nagging me in 2.1 - with the official FroYo OTA-Update followed up by a hardreset all my issues were gone...
OK, not all, but many...
I guess I'm going to have to take a couple of hours off to do it...
for this new widget it has to be froyo 2.2?
Hi all.
Having an issue with my EVO that I can't seem to figure out and was hoping that someone here might be able to help.
At (what seems to be random times) my phone will be 1 hour behind. It seems like it changes to Central Time (I'm Eastern) ... I'd say this has happened 5-7 times in the last month or so.
Just this morning my alarm went off ... I got up and when I left the house my phone said it was 9:20am... I stopped at the gas station and when I got back in the truck I noticed the clock on my dashboard said it was 10:20am.... I was like what the hell?
I looked at the phone again and it said it was 9:20am. So I touched the clock and it went into the clock settings. There it said I had two locations... Lexington, KY (time 10:20am) and Eastern Time (10:20am also) ... when I went back to the main screen it updated to 10:20am.
Usually when I have this issue it requires a reboot to fix.
I'm running Fresh EVO 4.2.0.0
Anyone have any ideas... I use this as my alarm and it's made me late to work several times now and I just can't have that.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian
I had that problem with one rom I used, I forgot which one. But basically the htc clock widget was the problem, thinking you were in a different time zone. Remove that widget, and use another one. I prefer Simi Clock Widget
Hi.
Well I had hoped it was something this simple. I replaced the widget as suggested with the simi clock (which I actually like better... thanks) and I installed an alarm app to replace the alarms I was using via the stock widgit thing.
I am really thinking this is a Sprint issue now as I was going to lunch with a buddy of mine yesterday and he had the same issue at the same time. He asked me if my phone was an hour off and mine was. He then said whelp it is fixed, and mine flipped to the correct time. Then seconds later both of our changed back to being an hour behind.
Again this morning (and still now) it's an hour early... so my 8:30 am alarm just went off at 9:30am which reminded me to post up here again.
Any suggestions besides calling Sprint and banging my head against a stupid tech that doesn't believe me?
Thanks,
Brian
If you wanted to keep the original clock and settings theres an app on the market called Clocksync, it syncs to the atomic clock, works hella good.
fixes clock drfiting, especially if you have multiple clocks on every screen , like me.
works for root and stock users.
I downloaded clocksync today and set that up. Hopefully that solves the problem. I'll post up once I test for a few days.
Thanks,
Brian
MIne would do that also after I rooted it with unrevoked and was running the stock rom. It would tell me my location was somewhere in Russia with their time. Would have to go into settings and manually enter time zone instead of using network time. Then after a while (randomly) would swith back again and I would have to start over. Only did it though after I rooted. Not bare bone stock ruu.
Seems as if loading clock sync and using that instead of Sprint for time sync has fixed my problem.
My friend that was having the same issue also did this and it has fixed his problem also.
Thanks,
Brian
My wife's clock widget was doing that after one of the OTA updates last winter, then a later one seems to have fixed it.
Neither of us have the problem now as we've both rooted and gone to a gingerbread kernel that doesnt exibit the problem.
I had this problem for a while, found that my router was set to the wrong time zone and the phone would update from the router when it was connected to it and would not change back till it checked the Sprint network. Never figured out how to force it to check Sprint though. It was fixed with a small update from Sprint a little while back.
I am already starting to get full homescreen redraws more and more often all of a sudden when going back to the homescreen from an app. This is reminiscent of the same issue on all previous Android OSs and I loathe it. This also was known to happen often on LauncherPro and ADW, although I am on the stock 4.0 launcher here.
Yes, on the Nexus it recovers more quickly, but it still slows you down for a couple of seconds and looks stupid doing it.
Is anyone else who has widgets on most screens starting to experience complete redraws and have to wait a few seconds for it to recover back up to speed?? I already tried the Terminal command to save the homescreen in memory but it is still happening the same.. It's starting to happen more and more frequently.
EDIT: Ok now it's literally refreshing/redrawing the homescreen icons and widgets every single time I go into any app and hit back or home. Every time. I thought I was done with this crap on this new OS but apparently not at all. How can this be happening and all of a sudden non-stop?
Rebooted and removed the one new widget I had added today, and still, the homescreens have to re-draw before my eyes every single time I go back to them from anywhere else on the phone. WHAT THE ****.

OK, I almost had a heart attack that the phone was going to keep doing this now, but I just figured out why. I was showing my friend the phone and the options in Developer options, and I must have accidently turned on "Don't Keep Activities"...that's why Launcher would terminate every time I left it!! It closes each app when you leave it.
So make sure if this is every happening to you, you check that option!!
Sorry to sound so paranoid guys
Hey there,
I'm having some rather odd clock issues with my phone. The time is "right" but not really. I use LauncherPro and WidgetLocker. I've never had any issues with these. However, WidgetLocker has its own clock widget. It works fine half the time. The other half of the time it is one hour behind my phone time. But that's not always right either.
For example, it's 9:30PM. The widget time will say 8:30PM. A few minutes pass, and the widget time is at least an hour behind sometimes a few minutes. The system bar shows 9:30PM as well, but then once I open the keyboard or rotate the phone, it will update to the current time, let's just say something like 9:37PM.
Both the apps listed are up to date, and I'm running CM 7.2.0 RC1.
Phone is rooted, I removed a few included APKs when I flashed the ROM. Is there a certain preinstalled APK that might have been affected by my removing it that updates the time, or does anyone know a fix?
Thanks!
I just put RobotoMod-Xena 1.0.1 on my phone last night, but didn't completely finish ironing out all the glitches on the install before I needed to hit the sack. I use my phone as my alarm clock, and managed to figure out how to set it while I was darned near already asleep.
So, this morning at the bright-n-early time of 5:15 AM, the alarm goes off. I'm used to the Sense desk clock that pops up a window when the alarm sounds asking if you want to deactivate it, or snooze it. That window wasn't there, and I couldn't get the alarm to shut off (which really pissed off my wife ). I finally had to power down the phone to get it quiet.
I don't know if this is a CM9 or RobotoMod thing, but how in the world do you deactivate a sounding alarm? Or should I find an actual Alarm clock app and use it instead? I'd rather not, since it defeats the purpose of having it built into the phone in the first place (IMHO).
u said u used the Sense desk clock , mean not the origin cm9 clock ?
No, I meant that I was used to the sense clock that was on the stock ROM before I loaded RobotoMod/CM9. It's the CM9 clock I'm having troubles with (I think) - I don't know if the RobotoMod devs changed that or not. I'm still trying to figure out where everything is in the code so I can find it for myself, but I'm not having much luck.

robotoMod rom's clock work fine on me , did you try to reflash the rom?
Yeah, it's on the third try right now. One complete wipe and reflash, and one reflash without wiping. The clock works fine - its the alarm that I can't turn off once it goes off.
hmmm....that's odd. I'm just sitting here at the desk and decided to test this again. The phone is not plugged in, and I used the 2nd alarm slot (default Sat. and Sun. alarm). A "snooze or dismiss" window pops up, and worked. The volume buttons were set to dismiss, and that worked. I just changed them to snooze, and it worked.
I'm going to go back to the first alarm slot and verify it works there, then I'm going to attach the charger to it and make sure it works before my wife gets really, really, realllllly annoyed with me on Tuesday :fingers-crossed:
