So I was excited to see that google wallet supported “visa paywave” since “mastercard paypass” only has jack in the box, mcdonalds, cvs, and a few other places. But I just went to visa paywave’s website – and they list the exact same stores that mastercard paypass lists..
Is it the same service?

I think I have seen the same logo on a lot of the machines. I think its a "standard" that uses the NFC. the MC has a nice app that tells you where they have sites.
---------- Post added at 09:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:19 PM ----------
according to this site http://usa.visa.com/merchants/payment_technologies/paywave.html
anything with that little symbol, the same ones that Google and MC use.
Will I be able to deploy a single terminal in order to accept Visa payWave, MasterCard PayPass, and American ExpressPay?
Yes. Visa, MasterCard and American Express will all offer solutions that support the same standard for Radio Frequency (RF) cards—ISO 14443 A/B. This standard specifies the frequency, power, transmission and anti-collision parameters for devices that accept contactless payments like Visa payWave. Thus, only one terminal will be required to accept such payment devices issued by Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Note, however, that full specifications will differ across payment brands. You must procure peripheral readers/integrated terminals that are configured for all payment brands you want to accept. To learn more about Visa payWave specifications, please contact your Account Executive.

Commonwealth bank have released their own NFC payment service called Kaching.
http://www.commbank.com.au/mobile/commbank-kaching/what-is-kaching.aspx
It enables NFC payments with an iPhone but you need to have a special case.
They've said that an android app is on the way, hopefully it will utilise the built NFC chip on the nexus and no case will be needed.
This might not help our international cousins, but for us Aussies it may mean we won't have to wait for google wallet afterall.

The sticker works on anything. You could slap it to the bottom of your shoe and pay with that if you wanted.
Not really the high tech solution I want.

NFC = Paypass
How many 7-11 stores are there in Australia?
How many Taxi Cabs are there in Australia?
You should check out the Paypass locator app from the market. More places than you think.
Just look at Matercard's paypass locator.
http://http://www.mastercard.us/cardholder-services/paypass-locator.html
As an example there's over 1000 retailers in the Melbourne CBD alone..
I'm looking forward to the Android release, hopefully it's not too far off.
For a change, I'm glad I'm with CBA . I wonder how long it will take other banks to follow suit?

Get a credit or debit card in the U.S.? Any card, any bank you want. Hell go buy a pre-pay card off the rack at CVS and buy it with that. They will sell them to anyone unless of course you have no legal US or State Government Identification, in which case YOU TOOK OUR JAAAAWBS!

Can you not use Mexican Credit cards locally? It is cheaper to buy them here in the stores than from the play site. You just have to get the 16gb. Can you get a 16gb at a regular store? It's going to be 250+ tax but you will save no paying shipping. I assume Best Buy takes any CC from any country.
Well in other stores i can buy with this card, i bought online with this card at macys and other online store and i just pick up in my adress in USA. I look into other websites and bestbuy doesnt have this phone (unlocked), walmart does but it is 460 dlls and in the playstore only 350.. im looking for 350 $ or less..

Sorry I sometimes forget which nexus forum I am on, thought I was on the Nexus 7 Forum still ROFL. Yeah you might be a little screwed, if you can't just get someone you know locally to do it for you. You'd have to use an ATM to pay them I'd guess.

Many grocery stores in the US sell prepaid MasterCard/Visa debit cards that you can load with any amount of money, up to $1000. Maybe you could buy one of those, load it up with however much the GN will cost, and buy it using the prepaid card.

Well then your only choice might be amazon. They have used GNex's in the $350 range, and new ones in the $400 range if you are willing to shell out a little extra. I purchased mine from Amazon because factoring in shipping, it would have been cheaper for me than buying through Play Store.

I've used a debit card to fill up a prepaid card before. It might vary from country to country? I did it just yesterday in fact, filled up a Visa prepaid debit card with $100 using my bank-issued debit card.

Can you answer these few questions about amazon?, it looks interesting but in amazon i have to pay tax? How many days can i have it? How much it cost in playstore? ( adding tax and shipping)
Tax depends on where you live. Shipping to the US usually takes about 3-5 days, international may take more, I don't really know for certain. You can find out how much it will cost in the play store by adding it to your cart and checking out. If will display the full price before you enter your payment info, so you can just close the website and the transaction will not go through.
Not sure if this helps you, but Best Buy has the Galaxy Nexus for free right now, with the signing of a Verizon contract.
OP lives in Spain, so no Verizon network.

Well I tried once here in the states and was told it was illegal. Maybe the clerk was just retarded.
Using the address of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, the total came out to $390.04. You may want to add $400 just in case it costs a little more to ship to wherever you are.

I tried trial access then it asked me for full address and phone number so I entered everything from Empire State Building lol. After it went through and got it activated, I went back to Google wallet after I turned off my VPN. I changed back my address to the UK and now everything works just fine, your payment will also go through
It works, you just have to change your credit card adress to an america adress zip code and phone number so that google wallet will accept it even if your credit card is not an america one. Tthen activate it and change it back to your own adress and it works flawless.
Don't know if the payment will work at the end of the month. Just have to wait till 31th of July.
I signed up in the UK, using a US address on my UK card the day they announced it.... They've taken payments fine and it's all still working very well

I am going to wait for the official launch as my bank (Natwest) is charging me £1 when the payment comes out because it's in US Dollars..

It all depends on the credit card. I use a parcel service the billing is different then shipping and I have many purchases from amazon. Capital One is confirmed working. My PC master card I had to go through a verification process.
Can I get a card with USA billing address from Capital One ?

Simple solution is to get a virtual debit card and attach any US billing address to it. That way you don't have to bother with mail forwarding since they won't even send a card out.
I have never noticed it make any difference what company the card is with. As long as it is branded with one of amazon's accepted payment methods, and has an address. I have used prepaid greendot cards to verify billing address.
maybe something like usunlocked.com would do the trick for you. I have never used them and am not affiliated, but they claim to offer a Visa branded card that works with amazon
