Hey guys I was wondering if I could follow some video tutorials on installing the CM10 Nightly ROM and Lean Kernel.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any, so I was wondering if I could watch a video of a 9300 tutorial of them installing a Rom and kernel and apply the steps to my Wind Mobile Galaxy S3.
Could anyone tell me if that is going to work? If not, could you link me to a video tutorial for T-Mobile/Wind phones?
Thanks
Dude no need for videos. Its really easy.
Step 1 - Backup your IMEI (if you haven't done so yet)
Step 2 - Make a Nandroid backup
Step 3 - Clear Data/Factory & Clear Dalvik Cache
Step 4 - Install cm10.zip from SD card (internal)
Step 5 - Install JB GAPPS
Step 6- Reboot and let it do its thang!
But yah you can watch the video, it will be the same process.

haha you have to be rooted to get roms? lol XD didnt even know that. I am actually heading out right now to get the S3.
I will have to learn to do root and cwm right after.
Be sure to flash roms only specifically made for the T-Mobile Galaxy S3. If you flash any international rom, or different carrier, your phone will be hard bricked.

Rooting is extremely easy. Just follow the procedures and don't take shortcuts. If you have questions, use the search tool and if nothing comes up, ask.

You don't actually have to be rooted...you just need to have a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP.

This probably a dumb question but I haven't been able to find the answer by searching and reading through numerous threads.
Is there a way to root without having to flash an image? I don't want to have to set up my phone again and would just prefer to root so I can get rid of all the bloat.
Heck, I'd probably unroot afterwards because I'm perfectly happy with everything else. I just want to get rid of NFS and all the other apps that I never use.
Yes, you can with keeping stock just to remove stuff.

Step 8. Hit Start and let ODIN flash the custom CWM Recovery. When it’s done, your Galaxy Note 2 will reboot and you should have a fully rooted Galaxy Note 2.
So this doesn't wipe the phone? I saw this method but am hesitant to try it because I don't want to lose all my data.

I have used that method from galaxynote2root.com and had no problems. the only thing it did was install superuser and give root access, did not touch phone data.

Thanks for confirming
+1 on that method..I did this as well to set up hotspot tethering and it works..no data wipe..
First time doing this odin method so my question is
1. Will I get future OTA updates? It says my phone is modified. Will triangle away fix this?
2. What do I need to do now if I want to flash a custom rom? Install cwm flash recovery and rom as per normal?

Hey if that's really all you want to do, ICS and newer Android allows you to disable bloatware apps such as NFS. Just go into your application manager, swipe to the right until you get to "All" find the apps you don't want and hit "disable" and Tadda! :good:
Even though this requires flashing through odin, this is the best method. No "Modified" status and will not wipe your data. Your phone will be rooted and all settings and apps stay intact (you need to confirm this in the thread).

Take this guide one step at a time. Read through it a few times, slowly, if need be. It's not a difficult one; just may look intimidating to some. A new guide came up, which u know about, that does the same thing but keeps the original build id. If u ask me, pick one and go. Don't over think it.

Installing ROM manager on stock ICS does nothing more than, well, installing ROM manager on stock ICS. You must have rooted Gingerbread to be able to flash a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP; which is required to enjoy any of the ROMs in the developer section here. And to downgrade stock ICS to Gingerbread, you must follow one of the unbrick guides. What particular section should you follow to get root + CWM? From the 1st word in the OP to the last period.
Like X0dus said, read through whichever guide you choose to use before you do anything; get familiar with the process and what you're going to be doing. Obviously, keep the directions open while performing the process, and don't skip around. Each step is essential and must be followed in order.

If all that is needed is root privileges then this may work; but if a custom recovery is the objective this will not work. And when it's all said and done, why not go ahead and do the unbrick process and install HO!NO!'s rooted CWM flashable ICS or Liquid Nitro if you want all or mostly stock... get rooted stock ICS and also the ability to try out all the other options available?
So I just rooted my SGS3 successfuly.

absolutely do NOT ever flash an international i9300 ROM to your phone. you will end up with a very expensive paperweight.
only flash ROMs specifically for the i747 (d2att).
the one you linked will work perfectly. its actually what I'm on at the moment and is a great and stable ROM

That's correct. The easiest way to install is download GooManager from they play store.
Open the app and grant permissions when you are asked. Touch the menu key, and select Install OpenRecoveryScript
Wait for it to say successful and youre done. Shut down the phone, hold volume up + home + power and you will enter TWRP.
From here you can flash ROMs (and make backups )

Nope you should be all set. 4.2.2 (02/23) build is the most stable and safest.
Download the 2/23 version. Download the 12/19/12 gapps.
Put the files in the root of your phone.
Boot to recovery. Select Backup and swipe to make a backup of your current ROM in case you ever want to go back to the stock ROM.
Then go back to the main menu of twrp and select wipe. Once in that menu, wipe the following: cache, dalvik, factory reset and system.
Go back to the main menu again and select install.
Locate the zip file you downloaded (the ROM) and then select it. A new screen will pop, select add more zips. Select the gapps and then swipe to install.
reboot and youre done. =)

So you want to return back to stock huh? Maybe to get official software updates? Maybe you want to sell your device? Or turn it in for a warranty thing cause you decided to give your phone to someone while you were drunk and that person cracked your screen. Well in any case, here is how I returned my GS4 back to stock official!
*Warning: Using this method will wipe your internal SD Card so back up your photos, music, and other precious files on your computer!
As many of you may know, Chainfire has an awesome app called Triangle Away that will reset your flash counter and return your binary status to Offical! Well good, download it cause you will need it for this process.
Things you will need
-Triangle Away app! (Thanks to Chainfire!) Get it here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
-CF-Auto-Root! (Thanks to Chainfire again!) Get it here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005
-UVUAMDL Official TAR! (Thanks to k0nane!) Get it here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258628
Steps!
Step 0: If you haven't already backup your Internal SD on your computer!
Step 1: Place the Triangle Away app on your external SD Card!
Step 2: Using Odin, flash the UVUAMDL Official TAR following the instructions here. If you get stuck in a bootloop, do a battery pull, reboot to recovery, and wipe data/factory reset!
Step 3: With Odin, flash CF-Auto-Root to re-root your device!
Step 4: Install Triangle Away app and reset your flash counter! Follow the directions in the thread here.
Step 5: Once you have reset your flash counter, verify in Triangle Away that your flash counter is back to 0! (It should be at 0 because you should already be on stock recovery and kernel at this point).
Step 6: In SuperSU, perform a full unroot! This should uninstall SuperSU as well.
Step 7: Uninstall Triangle Away
Step 8: Verify that your device reads 'Samsung Official' for your Current Binary and 'Official' for System Status by going to Download Mode! Once complete do a battery pull and reboot your phone normally.
Step 9: Go to Settings > 'More' tab > About Device > Status > Device Status. If it reads 'Official' then you're lucky, congrats you are done! If not then don't worry, you are like me and have to perform the next step!
Step 10: Go to Settings > 'Accounts' tab > Backup and reset > Factory data reset. This will erase your internal SD Card!
Once completed your device status WILL read 'Official' and you will be able to receive Software Updates from Samsung once again! Hope I have helped you by returning your device back to unrooted Stock Official! Peace!

These are the steps I took to get a solid note 3 rom working. I take no credit for this. The roms and mods in this were made by the devs in the links posted. so hit the thanks button for them.
1. download the stainless rom and flash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546464
2. Download and dirty flash the Test DN3 rom with fixed scripts by s belinda.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2r081dcc9...(Trunks_Edition) - Fixed by SydneyBelinda.zip
3. Flash Devil kernel for wifi.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239453
4. Download the note3 mod pack by the DN3 team.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467810
Flash in this order. Only do a full wipe for the first rom.
This worked great for me and I now have a solid note 3 rom
AT&T I317
TWRP
FLASHED 4.3 BOOTLOADER VIA ONE CLICK.

Great job.
I got inventive and tried to port DN3 Gohan edition to DN3 1.0; failed attempt.
I think I got bit in the butt by update-script also.
I wasn't confident on my Belinda build, since I've been messing around. Glad you had it.
EDIT: READ !
The download link at dropbox for DN3_v3.1b_by_E-Team_(Trunks_Edition) - Fixed by SydneyBelinda.zip is full from too much traffic. I have PM'd OP. So how's about not posting every 30 seconds that the link is not working eh?
I won't be installing the new rom. I'll stick to a more friendly dev team.
I'll be donating to ptmr3 as soon as I have a couple extra bucks since he's the kind of dev I want to be around. No rom is worth being abused by the devs.
Edit: seanz rocks too .. As well as ALL of our fine AOSP developers.

I took a crack at these instructions. I have to say they aren't the most informative.
It didn't work for me. I'd like to think I know what the hell I doing.
Unless there's no reboot in between the steps and you just flash your brains out and cross your fingers. Guess I could try that.
Not really understanding this from the instructions...
----> TWRP
(which version number ?, I used the latest openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-t0lteatt.img.tar flashed in ODIN) I've read that version has problems, but unconfirmed. I never had problem with it.
-----> FLASHED 4.3 BOOTLOADER VIA ONE CLICK.
(When exactly is this done ???)
1. I started from scratch with the One Click 4.3 leak.
2. Flashed stainless ROM, setup at least google account
3. Did ODIN TWRP flash
4. Flashed DN3 Sydney fix.
Rebooted didn't flash the Devil kernel yet since it says it's fixed the wifi.
Boot loop.
Maybe that's what was needed to do.

I actually think the instructions are fine and the OP of this thread is awesome btw. I meant the ditto devs.
But in response to your question- you flash the bootloader first... which is basically what you did when you flashed the one click.
It also seems most of the problems with twrp 2.6.3.1 seem to be with the aroma installer.

Cool. Gotta run to a xmas program thing. I'll back down to 2.6.3.0. And try again.
And do you think you blow by the reboots and flash back to back to back, or reboot in between?
I've seen it done both ways.
Not busting balls on the instructions too much. But they leave a lot to interpretation. They are direct and to the point.
But that leaves it open to dumb ass questions. Like mine, do you reboot in between or not . : )
Thanks
OK folks, everyone needs to take it down a notch, although this thread is helpful...calling one rom better than another (well, at least more "solid") is not essentially what we do here.
We help, we contribute, we offer suggestions in a way that is respectful.
Any more off-topic junk in here, and this thread will be closed.
Final warning in here, troll at your own peril.

I would tend to stick with the exact instructions and reboot if specified or not.
And we'll ALWAYS have dumb ass questions lol But I honestly don't find your questions dumb at all.

You should reboot after every flash.

This thread is just how I got a good working non carrier branded rom going. That's it. It looks like the DN3 team opened up its thread so it might be easier to flash that rom since this guide is pretty much how to use there mods.
