This will work with all providers hey bro, I'm with Telus/Canada

The ROM that guide gets you on isn't meant to be ran permanently, at least I didn't think so but I also won't do stock. Just find the appropriate ROM after finishing the guide.

Buttery life is dependent on your use. Test each ROM and find the one u like best is my best suggestion.

I'm sorry bro just call me stupid but it's ok to treat me as a newb cuz I am too this device but what part of that link involves me and rooting, like which parts should I follow to get me rooted plus installing CWM or some type of recovery and I did install ROM Manager already just want to know where to go to make it easy to do step by step?

Take this guide one step at a time. Read through it a few times, slowly, if need be. It's not a difficult one; just may look intimidating to some. A new guide came up, which u know about, that does the same thing but keeps the original build id. If u ask me, pick one and go. Don't over think it.

Installing ROM manager on stock ICS does nothing more than, well, installing ROM manager on stock ICS. You must have rooted Gingerbread to be able to flash a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP; which is required to enjoy any of the ROMs in the developer section here. And to downgrade stock ICS to Gingerbread, you must follow one of the unbrick guides. What particular section should you follow to get root + CWM? From the 1st word in the OP to the last period.
Like X0dus said, read through whichever guide you choose to use before you do anything; get familiar with the process and what you're going to be doing. Obviously, keep the directions open while performing the process, and don't skip around. Each step is essential and must be followed in order.

Working Root
I tried Bin4ry root method and it worked on 1st attempt on my P930 with leaked ICS V18f... Give it a try..:good:

If all that is needed is root privileges then this may work; but if a custom recovery is the objective this will not work. And when it's all said and done, why not go ahead and do the unbrick process and install HO!NO!'s rooted CWM flashable ICS or Liquid Nitro if you want all or mostly stock... get rooted stock ICS and also the ability to try out all the other options available?

Help on rooting back to stock rom

Hey guys, I am rooted and running Virtuous rom and I just wanted to know IF I ever wanted to go back to the stock G2 rom what would I have to do that? Thanks
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
two options:
1. If you were smart, you made a nandroid of your stock ROM the minute you confirmed the root procedure worked. If you did, simply use ROM Manager or boot into recovery, wipe everything, and restore that nandroid.
If you didn't....
2. Download one of the many stock ROMs in the development subforum, and flash that through ROM manager or recovery. Remember to wipe anytime you switch between ROMs (especially Sense-to-stock, or vice versa).
Is there any stock roms on rom manager that I can just do from there?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Nope, just Cyanogen and Virtuous. Just find a stock ROM that you want to use, download the .zip file, and put that on your memory card (don't unzip it, just drop the whole .zip file as-is). Then, in ROM Manager, choose 'Install Zip from SDcard' and navigate to wherever you put that zip file. ROM Manager will give you the option to wipe and to perform a backup of your current ROM before it flashes the new one - choose both options and let it run. super easy.
Alright thanks man

So it's not a stock ROM then ? If someone is looking for a stock ROM, then flashing a custom ROM isn't going to be what they need, surely ? Because they may well not want root either. Often folks ask for a stock ROM because they are doing a warranty return or similar. Or just want to go back completely to how it came from the factory.
That ROM that you linked has also got a modified RAM disk, and is zip-aligned. So it has several changes from a stock ROM.
If you're doing warranty work, that's close enough to stock. I don't thing you can 'unroot' your phone and go back to *totally* stock.

That's funny I never saw where he asked for a complete stock, unrooted rom for warranty purposes, guess you should give him the right link then since you seem to know what he REALLY wants. and from his second post by asking if he could find a stock rom on rom manager I would think since rom manager requires root to work, he might be looking for a stock rooted rom.
If you want to correct people please give the right awnser then, in this case give him what he's really looking for, as far as the link I provided it seems the only person not happy with the awnser is someone who didn't even ask the question, so keep up the good job "awnser police".
Just curious how much time did you spend researching that I am wrong instead of giving the OP what YOU THINK is the right link??? Time well spent.
But I guess it seems to happen, instead of awnsers we get posts trying to prove who's MORE right.
Well no hard feelings on my end, hope you have a great day, and happy posting.

Quickest way is to use one of sfhub's many one-click stock-rooted options. From there you can install a custom recovery and then start ROM shopping, but please, please, please read everything thoroughly and ask questions 'before' flashing to avoid bricking your phone.
As far as custom ROMs it's going to depend on if you stay on GB or jump to ICS. I've only used Calkulin's GB ROMs and they are great, for ICS I've used Venum's ROMs, Agat63 and currently run Blu Kuban by Rujelus22.
Good luck and happy flashing, remember when in doubt ask and wait for an answer.

Is there an advantage running ICS over GB? I will for sure ask questions if I have them, With the Iphone it was just one click and boom jailbroke, this seems a little more in detail, but doesn't mean Im not gonna give it a shot, lol

It really seems preference at this point, battery life for me on ICS isn't what it was on GB, but I'm on the latest release of ICS MIUI. LOVE IT. Have fun, and as mentioned, read the sticky relating to" how not to brick"

The linked program roots the phone as well as giving you the ability to easily flash a custom recovery. It is through that custom recovery that you will flash roms. Also get acquainted with ODIN! It is very important and you'll need to use that program if you decide to return to GB. Search qbking and EPIC4G Touch in you tube. He will walk you through the necessary steps.

Look to be honest you came from the iPhone. I'm not starting a war here lol. Stick with GINGERBREAD for awhile, you will thank me! Flash different GINGERBREAD Roms! Why? Because you will get the hang of things! I bet one of your questions will be
"I flashed a recovery, but when I flashed a new rom, the old recovery I flashed is no longer there?"
Get use to the phone first. Read a lot we can't stress that enough. But if you need a guide to walk you through step by step I'm offering my help to you! & so you can see how Android is way better than iPhone! lol
Edit: I personally don't suggest you jump to ICS just yet. Because messing with ICS will cause you to brick your phone! Dead, wasted, basura, R.I.P..... so get the hang of things and remember ODIN & MOBILE ODIN IS YOUR BEST FRIEND

Fair enough, I'll stick with GB for awhile. And take you up on your offer, lol
So if I want to try a different rom, how do we go about that? Do I need to root first?

Yes you need root! Use Odin and flash this one click root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21053277

How to Root LG Nitro HD with ICS

Ok, I've flashed the Leaked ICS ROM and tried to root it several different ways.
First, I tried UnlockRoot. It does not work.
Next, I tried SuperOneClick. It didn't work for me. I have heard that it did for lots of other people.
Then, I tried TPSparkyRoot. It did successfully root my phone. But, when I reboot my phone after the process, I get the "Security Error" message and have to follow the Unbricking Guide to get my phone back to working order.
My question to the community is: Has anybody had this problem before and if so, does anybody have any better rooting methods?
The best rooting method is just to install the pre-rooted CWM-flashable ICS leak that HO!NO! put out. You're already doing hardcore stuff to your phone anyway, so next time you unbrick, just install RomManager and CWM and flash the .zip you want.
How is the CWM Flashable version on battery life?
It's the same thing as the ICS leak. I'd say relatively poor battery life, personally.
Use doomlords root method. Myself and many others have had great success with it where other methods failed .

Do you happen to have a link to a tutorial for Doomlord Root?
Also, I tried to install CWM and ended up bricking my phone again. Any suggestions on that?
EDIT: I found Doomlord v4... It didn't work for me.
I believe USB debugging must be checked and its also very important that you have allowed installation of non-market apps, otherwise the program cannot install super user...

Yup, I made sure those were both checked. No dice.
When I try to install CWM through ROM Manager, it bricks...

AT&T imei issues?

How common is this I would likevcto flash some roms and all that good stuff. I have been reading about people phones not working after rooting and applying a Rom. Should I be worried ? Should I wait? And if it's all good any methods that worked cleanly for other people ? Thanks in advance

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I wouldn't say its very common as there are tons of people flashing and we dont hear about half the forum crying about corrupting their imei, thats not to say that its a non issue though. As you can probably see from the numerous threads (main one in the att development). Its advisable to wait, but with any flash you know the risk you are taking.
I was actually holding off till yesterday, ended up just saying eff it and flashed, did the non trip rooting, flashed the latest cwm from the official cwm site. Flashed Aokp, no imei wipe (was scared ****less the whole time though ) Decided i didnt even like the AOKP rom and flashed my carriers stock rom again through odin, So far so good.
However in the future im waiting for a full solution to this imei problem before i root or flash again. :good:
Id say just read the threads, if you understand the risks and want to proceed go ahead. good luck

i flashed my phone with the original at&t root method (which increased flash counter). since then, i've flashed the stock rom (UCALEM) to get non-modified status, reset the flash counter, and flashed the stock update rom (UCALG1) with no problems so far. i wasn't even aware of the imei issues until poking around the forums the other day. i suppose ignorance really is bliss.

i should add.. i used the stock root injected roms (after the initial flash) from here:

Dumbest Question Ever!!

Hello all,
I have had a couple of smartphones and I've asked a couple of questions on xda about various things regarding those phones. I just recently upgraded my work phone to the ET4G and I love the phone but hate the battery life and hotspot restrictions. I have no clue how to flash roms but I'm not totally clueless, I can follow directions. Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction as to how I install a custom rom on my phone. I want to install Calk N Venums Stock Rom but I manually installed ICS 4.0.4 because Sprint took forever to roll out the update. Not sure if the process was similar to me going into bootloader and unziping the file, etc. Long story short, I need to know what I need to have preinstalled on the phone so that I don't brick it (Clockwork Recovery, etc.). The devs have done a great jump with these roms and I am very interested in trying some out given I know the proper steps. Thanks for any and all advice.
