How do I flash my Nexus from YAKJU back to YAKJUXW? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi, I am a noob, and I just bought a Galaxy Nexus (YAKJUXW), and just flashed it to Stock YAKJU so I can get OTA 4.1.1.
Can I flash it back to stock YAKJUXW, unrooted, just in case I have to claim warranty? Where can I get the stock firmware?
TIA

When you need to send it back, just lock the bootloader, they don't know that you changed to the yakju

JB OTA lost

Hi i received yesterday the jb update notice but it didn't work,i don't know if because i moved away of the wifi zone or because my bootloader is unlocked, now I'm trying to check for updates on the about zone and nothing happens.
I'm running yakyu 4.0.4 upgraded by me from yakyuwx 4.0.2; does anyone knows why the jb upgrade didn't work? Will it come back? I don't want to flash it.
Screenshot attached.
By the way, my phone is gsm unlocked bought in Amazon and i live in PerĂº.
Thanks in advance.

Supposedly starting today you do not need to be on wifi for the update - though I do not know why you wouldn't want to be.
Try going into settings - apps - select all - scroll down and select "Google Services Framework" - then clear data.
Try and check for update again - Worked for me.
You don't have the correct radio and/or bootloader installed for yakju.
Radio is xxla2 and bootloader is prime 03.

Might that be,i upgraded to yakyu following a tutorial from webtrickz.com, haven't read anything there about radio and bootloader version, where can i read to upgrade them?, are them reeeeally necessary?
Thanks in advance

Well, I just flashed the xxla2 radio and a recovery image file, afterwards I cleared the data from Services Network and now the update is downloading, hopefully this time the JB OTA WILL work

You can't update without root until you get it OTA, but you can flash the full ROM. See the "flash" link in my signature.

Well is your GN yakju or takju?
If its either then hitting system update will prompt you the OTA.
You can also try the clearing Google Service Framework and hitting the System Update.

well you're not rooting... so technically, you never have to have root to update to JB.

Yeah, to flash the full images, you don't need root, but you need an unlocked bootloader.
But I was talking about updating, not re-flashing a ROM: if you want to "update" your existing build to JB, you either need to get it OTA, or download it and move it to /cache (root required), or apply it via CWM (either root or an unlocked bootloader required).

technically it depends what version of GN is he using...shouldn't be a problem if he's on yakju or takju...

Well for one is it American or European? GSM or CDMA? Buy it off the Play Store?
If it's CDMA you would have to unlock and use custom recovery to install 4.1, but it would be very simple to do and there are completely stock 4.1 builds that work flawlessly.

Stock ROMs and Warranty Question

I am wondering if I flash a stock ROM to my Gnex, will it void the warranty?
Thanks!
You'll have to unlock the boot loader in order to flash so I'm assuming yes.

Good old fashioned crossposting. Brings back the usenet days.

Let me make this clear (Hopefully),
In order to flash ANY ROMs, you have to either boot into or flash the custom recovery (Such as TWRP or Clockworkmod). In order to do that, you need to unlock your bootloader. If you unlock your bootloader, you will void your warranty. SO the answer is yes.
HOWEVER, If you EVER need to send it to Samsung, you just need to flash the stock ROM, radio, etc (If you ever need to go back to stock, Efrant has an amazing thread about it), and then just re-lock your bootloader. Then, you'll get your warranty back. Beauty of Nexus devices if you ask me.
OK I am glad that someone will explain it very well for people like me.
