Just installed the newest Radios on the DEV. thread. Now it says R next to radio signal no 3g or 4g. IDEAS??
Thanks!

Which phone do you have and which radio did you flash? Are you sure you flashed the radio meant for your device?

Vzw galaxy nexus.
Flashed 411 radio posted on Dev page. I feel like I get 3g speeds bit it just says R next to the bars now.
I just saw your post I just posted the same thing here's my screen shot don't know what to do

If this isn't problem with one person, I think it is the problem with the newest radio. Why don't you flash to the older version? I think that should solve the problem

Have you tried wiping your cache and dalvik cache?

Go into settings, about phone and status. Mine shows the R but status says not roaming. I disabled data when roaming and still can download. It was only after installing the JB release my showed the R. Previously I installed the radios first prior to the new rom

For me phone feels snappier. And data is a bit faster/responsive for me when using slow apps like the facebook app.
Seems OK, got it from Paul O'Brien in his ROM

flashed aswell, all good so far. will post back with battery life in a few days
Excellent. I'm on 3uk and for the first time since getting the g-nex 2 weeks ago i'm finally getting full bar reception at home on hspa. Rooted and using Paul's latest rom and Franco's latest kernel.
THANK YOU!
Yet another KL1 comes up... Sweet!
I flashed the Korean KL1 yesterday (because Wind Mobile users were having major roaming issues with the north american KL1) & Battery life, Battery Readings, Signal & network speed is much better. Best of all no roaming issues.
Here's a link to that 1 as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439217
Will try this 1 later
Thanks! So far so good. Not intensively tested yet, but reception seems to have improved, here in the Netherlands. I was having some issues with that. I was using the xxkk6 radio.

Works fine here as well.
Can't really see any difference with regards to signal strength/performance.
But I guess we'll see if it has any effect on battery in a couple of days.

Thanks a lot for the radio, it improved both wifi and network reception for me compared to the xxkk6 radio. Cheers!

Will this baseband most likely be the one included in stock 4.0.3 or do we think something 'newer' will be included with that update?
Im on 850MHz Telstra Next-G using XXKK6 (AUS2 radio network)... might have to flash and test it out.

Let me know how you go... currently still on the stock Telstra radio but haven't seen much in the way of comparisons.
I live in Asia, for me krkl01 tad better than xxkl01, signal strength and download speed wise

Do we need to wipe cache / dalvik for this, or are these only for flashing ROM's / Kernel's?
Thanks

This is just the euro version of UGKL1: both are revision 1 of the December 2011 radio.
I tried posting this in the radio thread but I don't have 10 posts yet flashed the 4.04 IMM76K radios and boot loader on my Verizon LTE nexus three days ago and since then my notifications have been all jacked up. I've been only receiving texts and whatsapp messages. No Gmail, fb messages, or gchat. Anyone else having this problem? Also I know the blue means you're synced to google , is it normal to not be synced regularly? Whenever I switch to 4G it takes a long time to sync and when it does it doesn't stick too long. Any help would be appreciated

Anyone haha?

Sounds like a radios issue try other radios

Try doing a battery pull and SIM pull. That should update your PRL for the GNex 4G automatically.
Are you on stock or a ROM or Kernel? It could be a bug in an experimental ROM or Kernel.
Usually radios are for transitioning between Airplane Mode/2G/3G/4G from what I know. Its the PRL that's reception.
Also are those radios the new OTA ones that just got received a week or so ago?
I'm running AOKP milestone 4 along with the latest lean kernel and the OTA 4.0.4 radios and everything is running perfectly fine.

I will try the battery and sim pull. Yeah these are the OTA radios , along with those I'm running AOKP milestone 5 and Jame bond 3.0.19 I think it is. I'll let you know how that goes, thanks for the suggestion
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Yeah I heard there was issues with milestone 5 and the new radios. People complaining about reboots as well.
If the above doesnt work, do a Nandroid backup, as well as backup your apps with TB and flash milestone 4 with the new radios if you haven't.
Then compare the two. I'm having no issues with my setup whatsoever. Good luck and keep us updated.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
So I reset the battery and sim. It seems to have done the trick! Thanks for the help how do you like lean kernel? I'm thinking about switching over
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I like it a lot, I switched over to Franco milestone 3 yesterday and haven't had problems either lol. Can't seem to tell the difference.
Make sure you don't type in that random number they say to update your PRL. The only way to update the PRL for a 4G phone is to do a SIM pull, then once it goes back in and you turn the phone on, it updates it.
Also when you are talking about the blue sync...if you mean when the signal bars turn blue, then that means its connected to 3G or 4G. When its gray, its 1x/2G which means its able to make calls ans text but nothing data wise.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Did you just flash the kernel or did you change any of the settings? And yeah I heard that was very bad haha. Are you sure about the data thing? I thought blue meant its connected to the Google servers

Flashed new radios and work like a charm until about an hour ago when we R Next to network and I get no service. Any ideas?

R means that you're roaming...

Yes but I am not. I am at my house where I have never had that issue. Even if that was the issue I have data roaming on so I should get connectivity however I cant do anything data related

Can you confirm that it is radio? Can you flash the older version and see if that solves the problem?

I have never had that issue once and ive had the phone for months, many kind of roms. The only thing I changed was flashing the radios today. So I am pretty sure that is the reason.

I may . I am going to give it a day or so and if it stays like that i will. Thought if its a problem with the new radio that everyone is rushing to flash we should get it out there. I just have been holding on to 4 g better since i got it until a bit ago

I reflashed the radios and my 4g came back. Ill update if it reverts back
Service lost
So I flashed the new radio and bootloader. Worked for awhile till about an hour ago everything cut out and its not working at all. I have no idea what is going on. So I re-flashed old radios, seeing if that worked still didn't. So I did a complete factory reset and wiped everything. Seeing if that fixed anything. Going to update tomorrow. Please give me some updates.
ok i have the most annoying problem..no matter the rom no matter how much wipe restore wipe system wipe cache and dalvick cache..no matter what radio i install whether it be the latest or the rom already contains the latest..my dang galaxy nexus is always dropping service when it is using 3g and hspa...when i go into the settings and tell it to use 2g it will never ever drop..but as soon as i take that off ? here goes the constant dropping..its so annoying it makes the phone being on tmobile prepaid useless..see at first i thought it was tmobile screwing with me but as soon as i put my sim card in my trusty old galaxy s running slim bean 4.1.2 ...bam 3g and hspa work just damn fine..no dropping, or nothing..so then i figure "hey maybe my apn settings are wrong" nope they are exactly the same on both phones"

are u running a 4.1.2 ROM? a lot of people (me included) have been having data drop issues on 4.1.2 ROMs. try a 4.1.1 base ROM and see if that helps.

radios didnt work i still got data drops..to be honest the only thing that has worked which i wasnt sure if i should try was franco's milestone 6 i thought it was not gonna work *in his description he said he fixed the infamous data drops* but see i was questionable which i shouldnt have been cuz his works pretty amazing...and well it ried it and i can tether again my data has yet to cease, because before? anytime i tried to do something that required even an ounc of data the signal dropped..but now its running flawlessly and id have to say a tad bit faster than normal..so for anyone reading this just give franco's kernel a shot
Here's the deal. I have one of the gnex's that had the bad 4g radio and couldn't stay connected to the network logger than 10 minutes. The jb update finally came and fixed. Scared to flash custom Rom in fear old problem might return. Has anyone had one the previously faulty phone and has since flashed a custom Rom with success?

You have nothing to lose but some time if you flash something and don't like it. If the update fixed your problem, almost all custom roms will be using an android version at least equal to what you are running now (most probably newer). You can make a nandroid to restore if you find you have problems with whatever rom you flash. If you don't want to do that, you can always use the factory images posted by google and restore your phone back to the version you are using now. Updated radios probably helped more than anything in a kernel or /system (which is all most custom roms contain - I don't think I've ever seen any that contain radios for the galaxy nexus).
Now running liquid smooth. 4g still strong thanks for the info.
