For me phone feels snappier. And data is a bit faster/responsive for me when using slow apps like the facebook app.

Seems OK, got it from Paul O'Brien in his ROM

flashed aswell, all good so far. will post back with battery life in a few days

Excellent. I'm on 3uk and for the first time since getting the g-nex 2 weeks ago i'm finally getting full bar reception at home on hspa. Rooted and using Paul's latest rom and Franco's latest kernel.

THANK YOU!
Yet another KL1 comes up... Sweet!
I flashed the Korean KL1 yesterday (because Wind Mobile users were having major roaming issues with the north american KL1) & Battery life, Battery Readings, Signal & network speed is much better. Best of all no roaming issues.
Here's a link to that 1 as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439217
Will try this 1 later

Thanks! So far so good. Not intensively tested yet, but reception seems to have improved, here in the Netherlands. I was having some issues with that. I was using the xxkk6 radio.

Works fine here as well.
Can't really see any difference with regards to signal strength/performance.
But I guess we'll see if it has any effect on battery in a couple of days.

Thanks a lot for the radio, it improved both wifi and network reception for me compared to the xxkk6 radio. Cheers!

Will this baseband most likely be the one included in stock 4.0.3 or do we think something 'newer' will be included with that update?
Im on 850MHz Telstra Next-G using XXKK6 (AUS2 radio network)... might have to flash and test it out.

Let me know how you go... currently still on the stock Telstra radio but haven't seen much in the way of comparisons.

I live in Asia, for me krkl01 tad better than xxkl01, signal strength and download speed wise

Do we need to wipe cache / dalvik for this, or are these only for flashing ROM's / Kernel's?
Thanks

I agree the UGLA4 is newer but which frequency does it work better?
People need to understand that a baseband can work better or not depending on their frequencies...

In Samsung phones, radio/baseband are related with battery life too?

Well newer radios aren't necessarily better. There are so many factors and variables that will affect a radio's performance. Results will always vary based on their location, carrier, etc. There are just way too many variables.
In the end, it's all about the user's personal experiences if its better or not.
As far as frequencies.. not even going to go into the technology part of that because it's not worth debating over. I was just simply stating that this is a older radio and comes from a last year build to reduce the placebo effect of... "oh it's better!" simply because it was posted today but was a revision radio of yesterday. In actuality, this radio probably matches the XXKL1/UGKL1 radios but optimized more for Brazilians.

the radio signal receiving is the one that affects battery life. Getting a good radio driver is the only way to improve it.
Testing on my Galaxy Nexus with Vivo, until now i did not notice any diference
Tried this one in Oslo, Norway.
Gettings lots of Edge-connection and speeds around 5/2 when I get a decent HSDPA lock.
I'll revert to back to latest docomo radio for now.
Just flashed this baseband, i live in Argentina, hope this work well because i was having some problems with getting good connection

I could be mistaken but I think UG is more "North America" but I guess for GSM that pretty much means "Canada" - though I use mine on AT&T in the states. UGKL1 is the one I've got would love to know what people think of this

Thanks, and yeah, that's all I meant. I just knew that XX was Europe. So if UG is for North America, then that covers Canada as well. And I flashed it with no problem, seem to be getting better WiFi reception, as well as losing connection to Google Servers less often (Grey signal bars) which I had a lot of trouble with using UGLA4. So far so good

Results will vary. You have to flash it and conclude yourself.
For me and others (in the major radio thread) it has been the best radio.
This is the newest radio, so give it a try. If it doesn't give you what you want, flash back the old radio you were using before.
I've had problems with all the other newer radio's.
But this one is a keeper. Cheers.

Best radio for GSM GN?

Hi, I'm confused on what radio I should use with my GSM GN, I'm about to install LS 1.35, however I will also need a new 4.0.4 radio, to get the best signal and battery life, so what radio are you guys running?

As far as 4.0.4 radios go you have two choices: UGLC1 and XXLA2.
I'm on LC1 personally, haven't felt the need to test other BB's since. There are often too many variables to declare a BB as a clear winner.

Since you're located in Denmark, I suggest you use the XXLA2 radio. XX radios are apparently best suited for Europeans, while UG radios (like UGLC1) are best suited for the United States and Canada.

Best radio is to use them all starting with the latest one and determine the one best for YOU. One radio good for one person is not the same for you because you two live on different parts of the world + different carriers.
Thanks for this thread, guys. Very informative.
Use LAX2 as that works best. And you get better battery life compared to the previous releases

T-mobile + Telus = 3g ?

I was wondering, i have been trying different roms for a couple of days and i noticed that if i dont use TELUS roms, i do not get a 4g logo on my screen.
It's always on 3g. Is it actually runing at 3g or is it just a bug since im using a T-mobile rom on a Telus phone ? Is it actualy runing 4g ?
Curently on Infamous 2.9.1 with Venom 3 #5
Any advice ?
I was thinking on trying the Stable CM9 next with Venom 6#1
Thank you.

Thank you for clarifying !
I am showing HSPA:11 is this 4G?
If not what radio and tweaks do I need to make. And what are some working links?
I have been searching for the Blaze 4G radio (not sure which version I need), which was suggested by many as the best radio for TELUS users, plus any tweaks. But none of the links work.
I am with TELUS. Using the lastest Darkside Kernel, AOKP milestone 6, LLE4 radio.

You guys have to realize that 4g is actually 3.5g lol. So just run done speed tests, that should answer your questions right away.

I understand that 4g is really 3.5g. My question is what is the best radio and tweaks for a T-989D in the Toronto area.
And working links to the radio.
I already understand that in these ROMs, H is the symbol for 4g (3.5g). Also the speed on custom ROMs isn't as good as Stock.

There is a flashable zip that fixes this issue. Go to the Jedi ROM in the development section. It's on the first page under add ons. Should be good on any tmobile based ROM for those of us with Telus phones.

Oh that wasn't directed towards you, that was more towards the general concern of op's.
Regarding radio it really is random, some user's opinions on radios differ from others even though they're in the same area. I wouldn't focus on the speed and focus more on the latency because where's the point of having fast speed when half the time I'm waiting for a response (ping). You can go into some of the custom roms thread, some have modded radios ready to flash. Check out tdj's thread he has like 3.

galaxy s2x telus t989d signal weak on wind mobile and mobilicity

Hi
i bought telus galaxy s2x t989d which is supposed to be exactly the same version of t-mobile galaxy s2 t989, but i started to use it on (AWS 1700) wind mobile or mobilicity, the signal is weak and reception is bad, i red that if i flash t-mobile radio on my phone, the reception will be fixed, if that is true where i can find this radio and how to install it.
thanks
Indeed, you can get better/worse signals depending on your location and your radio. Its more a trial and error thing to see which one works best for you in your area.
Check this thread for some radio's information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426001
I also recently got the Telus Galaxy S2X to use with Wind Mobile. I though I would need to update the Radio to a T-Mobile one as well but was pleasantly surprised that for me the Telus radio give me full signal strength and data speeds (same as what I got with a Wind LG Optimus 2X phone). You can try flashing the radio but don't think it will help that much.

3) none i can think of, it all comes down to the Apps you have loaded and what is eating the battery, there's no magic ROM that will do that for you

I am using Telus T989X on wind mobile using telus radio here. For me, telus radio seems to pick up the best signal overall.
a lot of stuff affect battery life, there are many topics with good what to do and not to do to make the best out of your battery
something as simple as a live wall paper can drain your battery like a pig
i'll not go into details, as there are plenty of topics about that already
I flashed dark side ucle2 and t mobile radio. I noticed improvement in battery performance. But the reception is same as telis radio

The Blaze radio is better than the stock Telus radio for me on Telus. Worth checking out. You can find it somewhere on the first or second page in the dev section (maybe the 3rd).
