videos are flipped - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

No sure if it's gs3 related or android but I have this issue where some of the video shoot are flipped. I always shoot landscape but they are portrait so I would have to tilt my head to watch them. Flipping the phone flips the vid.
I hope someone know the reason it's very annoying
Thank you

TP2 and Video Recording....

Hi,
Now I know the TP2 is not a digicam ... But can anyone share any tips on how to get the best out of the TP2 for video recording.
Some thoughts I have include:
1) Fast SD card
2) 3rd party video software???
3) Improving fps from 12.5. I guess reducing resolution..??
However I appreciate the TP2 is a phone .... but with some jolly useful extras.
Thanks,
Sam
i havent try but maybe apps like coolcamera?
Hi guys
A quick one. When recording with the touch pro 2 is there a black border to the right side of the picture you are recording? that means the picture you are recording doesnt fill the screen. I just noticed this tonite and i dont think this has always been the case
since I posted my question over 30 people have read it but have just moved along without helping. This isnt a difficult question and all someone has to do is pick up their phone, launch the camera and click on video recording to see if the black border exists. This should not even take you a minute but people just read and move on. If I start a new thread asking my specific question, you,ll get some id1ots talking rubbish about using the search function. well I have and it doesnt return any results for my query. So is there any sensible person out there willing to check this out for me?

Hi Lombardo8,
Yes, there is black strip on the right side of the screen but ONLY when you save video. When you play this video it is over full screen.
Sorry for my "English".

Nino
Thank you very much Nino. Have a nice day
12.5 fps? Probably for videos meant as video messages (eg vzw flix mms). But with Mp4 I had 15-20 fps even in 640x480. Best advice. use MP4 video. Stay away from H.264 because that is CPU heavy and results in blocky looking video. Black border on the right side? It only means you are not recording in widescreen mode and does not show up in playback. Select the widescreen option in advanced options and border is gone. Not sure if this will work on video, but it does on pics.
I'm not all too thrilled with CoolCamera. First, it's buggy as hell. Second, it's not free. And third, it doesn't work on all devices. I tried it on my Q9M about a year ago. Hasn't been updated since then. Since the Q9m has a crappy camera, I wanted more options. Unfortunately this program didn't help, as the options didn't work on that phone. The camera on my TP2, different story. Very advanced compared to the Q's crappy setup. Don't even want to try CoolCamera on this thinking it might be worse off than factory HtcCamera. There have to be better options then that program (CoolCam). The developer of that app has focused on his webcam app instead.
How did you get your camera to record at 640x480 my Tilt2 doesnt seem to have that option

Front camera in wrong orientation!

I'm sure you guys have notice that the front camera is installed 90 degrees perpendicular to the screen orientation, causing ridiculous distortion in qik. Any one know of a way to either rotate the aspect so that it fills the screen without stretching, or of the camera maybe has a square sensor that could just be cropped in the proper alignment?

the problem is not the camera !! is qik
i download this app''mirror for sprint phones'' free in the market and it looks nice
i think qik is not compatible with the epic front camera
Its totally the camera. It renders (in landscape) a 480x640 image, which qik stretches to 640x480. Take a pic and resize it in photoshop, it looks exactly like it does in qik. That's why fring doesn't look horrible: it doesn't fit the image to the screen, and why qil looks good on the evo: the image is already 640x480 (well, bigger, but same aspect) and doesn't need to be stretched.

Look an app called MagicMirror. I personally worked with the dev on this to fix the Epic 4G front camera.
I see this thread is rather old, but I'm going to throw my 2 cents in anyway.
I tried the mirror programs listed here. Both of them produce an upright portrait image. Great. But what does that do to help video chat? Nothing that I can tell.
The front camera turns out a rotated image with Yahoo chat as well. (on a side note, Skype app doesn't even suppport video chat).
So I have to ask, what is the use of the epics Front camera? It doesn't appear to be supported by any useful applications. Furthermore- it seems to have been this way for 5 months now, and STILL no support?

i have never used video chat in 2.1. can anyone confirm it's this way in Eclair as well or is it just with the DK28 leak?
On ANY ffc client I tried, the cam is always sideways. Lame
/And that's my 0.2 florin... Another message exported from Epic4g via Tapatalk Pro
i rooted to 2.2 yesterday and tried the yahoo messenger video chat app and also noticed the rotation. does anyone know if the front facing camera is really screwed up or if it's just the software?

I have the same problem. Try holding the phone so the camera aims down at you. It then rotates to the correct position. It would be nice if it knew a little more about which way is up!

CM7.1 10212011 Nightly problems

Posted here because I dont have enough posts to post in the Cyanogenmod thread.
I recently updated to the latest nightly (10212011). I did this after seeing that 10202011 had some issues when using the video camera.
So this weekend I made a short video thinking all would be good but when I played it back via 'Gallery' the portrait video footage played sideways in landscape mode. Turning the phone to landscape gave me a stretched portrait video, which isnt really ideal in a perfect world. I can play the video in QQPlayer in its correct orientation but the video seems to jump, repeat parts and also goes out of sync.
I have searched to see if this has occured but I have not seen this issue before, so I wanted to flag it up to the devs.
Additionally I have another problem which again after searching I have not found a solution to.
I have the Kindle app installed and it all works great, I can read my book etc but after leaving the app the phone freezes and my only way out is to remove the battery. Has anyone else come across this? is there a solution?
Thanks for any help
Lee

Same by me. Anyone has got the same bug????

Mine does that too, unless I hold the phone sideways when recording. Lately getting it to record at all is my issue, but have posted that elsewhere

Record Video From Front & Rear Camera?

Wasn't sure if if this should go in General, Q & A, or Apps..
In any case, I'm wondering if there's any way or any app out there which would allow for recording a video at the same time from both the front facing and rear facing camera?
For example, as a motorsports enthusiast who goes to track days at times on road courses, I think it would be very neat if I were able to attach the phone to the windshield using a suction mount with the rear camera facing the front of the vehicle and have a way to record a video with both the video feed from the rear facing camera (showing the view out the front of the vehicle) as well as from the front facing camera (showing the view out the rear of the vehicle) and have the app do a PiP (picture in picture) of the video. It would be a lot more easy and slick than using two separate camera's/video sources, and then later having to time sync them using some type of video editing software on a pc.
Just a random thought I had and figured I'd throw it out there for information..

Sounds like an extraordinary idea for an app!
don't know if it's possible.
I will try lol
but i don't think theres any app out there who can do it,
Yeah, I've searched around and haven't found an app that does anything like what I describe, but I'd have to think it's gotta be possible to query both of the video signals from each camera at the same time and then put them together and save it to the SD card. I'm certainly not a dev or programmer, but with as versatile as Android is I'd be surprised if it's technically not possible, just maybe no one with the know how has felt there was enough desire/interest for such an app,...yet.
This sounds like a great idea but not to sure our phones could handle the over head needed for that multitask. Maybe one of the newer phones with dual core could but I doubt this one could. Now that I said that someone will prove me wrong

[Q] camera rotating pictures

On all of the Jelly bean roms I have flashed, the camera doesn't save my pictures correctly and rotates them on to there side. I have searched and search the forums, but havnt been able to find anything to help. Does anyone have a link, or solution to this problem for me?
Have you tried any other camera app on the Play store to see if it produces the same issue? If not, maybe try clearing data/cache for your camera app
I thought that was an android thing?? Gotta take pics in landscape or the portrait ones will be sideways if you transfer them anywhere,?? Maybe I'm wrong.....but I've been only taking pics in landscape ever since I read that. I know for sure that's how video works.

Strange... after transferring several images taken from my phone in both landscape and portrait to my computer they would always be in the proper orientation. Either way, it's not a big issue to fix, unless you have tons of photos to re-adjust
