Hey everyone! I'm new to Android, and I have a little problem.
I tried to change the lock/unlock sounds in system/media/audio/ui to iPhone lock/unlock sounds. On a different website, someone uploaded the .ogg's to replace the stock sounds. I did all this and lock sound is fine but the unlock sound is a bit weird. It still does the stock bubbly/watery sound THEN my custom sound comes up.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks to everyone in advance!

What I really don't understand is where else the system is getting the water sound from. I doesn't make sense since I completely replaced the water unlock sound with the iPhone sound. And how does the lock sound work perfectly?

The site i downloaded them from already had them named to lock.ogg and unlock.ogg
Hey guys! I think I found the problem! (gosh im an idiot) So you know I noticed that the lock sound works fine but for the unlock sound, the water sound goes first THEN the iphone unlock sound comes.
Soooo I slowly moved my finger on the screen and noticed it makes water sounds just for me touching the screen. (again im an idiot)
So now i know that THIS water sound has nothing to do with unlock.ogg. It must be a seperate file.
And now a new problem: where is that file? Anyone know?
Again guys, thanks so much for your help!
Ah ok I found the source of the problem. In settings you can disable the water ripple effect which also gets rid of the sound. But I LOVE the ripple effect. Anyone know how to remove the sound?

OK make sure you have a root explorer with read and write capabilities. If you go to the very top file after that you'll see a folder called system. In the system folder will be a lib folder. Copy the lib and paste it there. Then copy seclauncher2.apk to the app folder that's inside the system folder as well. Let me know if you got it. Then reboot.

I've seen around that people were complaining about not having the option to turn off the camera shutter sound, and I was also annoyed by that shutter sound so I did some digging and found a quick and easy way to shut that camera up.
You need to be rooted to do this!
Step1: Download and open any root browser.
(Here I am Using Root Explorer, ES File Manager Works also)
Step2: Go to System

you guys using the build prop mod? There's no need to mess with sound files, the line in build prop forces the sound of camera on or off. 0 = off

Did you also reset the permissions on your build prop to rw-r-r? The deletion of the file for the shutter sound is actually in system/media/audio/ui. After resetting the permissions, you should see a new file created titled "build.prop.bak." I completely screwed up the paragraph structure in this one...
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
I may be wrong about the build.prop.bak thing now that I think about it. Mine isn't there, but then again, neither is my shutter sound
Since it's been surprisingly difficult to find any zombie-related boot animations, let alone for the S3, I had to make my own.
Thought I'd share. I'm sure I'm not the only one looking.

Please note that the frame rate is much slower and more natural on the phone than the gif.
To install, copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media
(Must be on a ROM/Kernel that supports the use of custom bootanimation.zip files)
And if anyone's interested, I also created a Walking Dead custom splash screen for the S3 here.
Enjoy!

Unfortunately, the stock ROM on the GS3 doesn't support custom boot animations. You'll need to be on a ROM with a kernel that supports them. Something like CyanogenMod, etc.
I should have mentioned that, sorry.
This is great! Used root explorer to write the boot animation. Thank'd
Im running flaux kernel it didn't work. I renamed the stock samsung loop .bak
Could that be why?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Try putting it in /data/local instead of /system/media and set permissions.
Edit: nice work btw
Still the same. What do I do about old boo file?
Also permission are rw rw r
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
In the most simplest terms so as not to cinfuse you...When you put something in /data/local it is read by the phone at bootup before anything else. You can use this to test scripts and other neat things so that you can leave your /system completely unadulterated. Meaning, you can leave your /system/media/bootanimation.zip right where it is.
Permissions are rw-r-r not rw-rw-r
Got it to work... But my question is.. Is it suppose to be sideways?

Yes. I tried making it work in a portrait view, but it was either too small to appreciate or too cropped to get the whole effect. In the end, I chose to leave it in landscape so it would fill the screen.

Ok. so if you read this thread before you may know that I was supposed to upload
a Shutdown and boot animation.
The shutdown animation is below with the other .zips
but if not here it is the link to the dropbox download
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sl10c7cs90vv12a/shutdownanimation.zip
as where the boot animation which was the oversized one here is the link as well
https://www.dropbox.com/s/excbutu7sblkqgj/General Cyan.zip
and this third link is for some UI sounds like the keyboard.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uhdl1ui4gyelfn2/UI_Sounds.zip
i mainly did it for the keyboard and then said wt heck! and recorded, with my latino voice, just some sounds
like there is a bootsound that asks to wait while the system powers on, sort of simulating a personal assistant.
ehh i just recorded it an applied a room effect, so its nothing fancy. i play with the sounds later on.
The keyboard i should say has somewhat of a psycho theme
pistol shots-(that sound more like a laser shot) for the Standarkeypress
gun load --- for space
gigitty laugh--- for Return
and a (NOooOo) yell for the Delete key, tried it. i like it.
now for the other Ui sounds remember its pretty much my voice and my English is not perfect but i think it is understandable. lol
i hope somebody likes them, and
remember to properly name the animations and change its permissions to 644 == rw-r-r
and if you do use the sounds note that they are .mp3s but have to be named to .ogg just the extension though, and permissions change as well.
I Think this animation set is better then the others i uploaded.
So I bit the bullet and installed. It's actually pretty nice. I like the animation on the G. Giant android isn't bad (maybe not my favorite but I'll live with it). Excellent work! Definitely nice to have something different than the normal AT&T boot animation. :good:

Is there any way you could also upload a .gif of the animation so we can check it out so we don't bite the bullet without knowing what it would look like?

Ok I can't copy the file to that directory. I've tried several different root explorers and it keeps telling me permission denied or just doesn't say anything and fails to copy. WTF? And yes I am rooted.
When the f*ck did we get ice cream??

i would not have a proper answer for that,

Did you change permissions on the folder before you tried copying files into it? I use Solid Explorer and I set the folder permissions to drwxrw-rw- then copy my files in. After done, I set the directory back to drwxr--r--.

I screwed up my /system/media/ folder to the point of no boot animations. Could you post the stock contents of this folder so I have animations again?

Not a problem if anyone wants different levels let me know.. I wouldn't go to much louder though
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Awesome and loud!! I assume this is the "normal" max (100%)? Any chance we can get you to make something a little less loud (50%)?

Can anyone make this a flashable zip. I'm struggling with root explorer. I'm not the sharpest tool...
Edit: Never mind, got it working and it's awesome and loud

are you sure that works though? it says package extract directory is system. you gotta go a little deeper then that to replace file. just curious if you tested.
Can't wait to do this to my phone

I've been using this mod since Monday and has noticeably been an improvement. I didn't flash the zip I did the original way and copied/paste . Seems to work great on static v2. Great job on this mod.
