STYLE
What Is My Goal?
To be able to provide true nightlies of the most popular ROM's for the Toro, all built in what I like to call Linaro Style...
What In The World Does Linaro Style Mean?
Linaro Style simply means that I take the source of the ROM, and build it using the linaro toolchain.
What Is A Linaro?
Linaro Builds are optimized builds of the ROM that have increase stability and performance.
ROMS SCHEDULED TO BE BUILT:
Cyanogenmod 10
AOKP Jellybean
Bugless Beast
Code Name Android
That is the order in which they will be built every night, with Cyanogenmod being started at 12 AM EST (-4:00 GMT)
Each Build will be named in this order:
Code:
atc3030_linaro-(ROM ABBREVIATION)_(DATE BUILD WAS FINISHED).zip
ex. Cyanogenmod done at 1:01 AM on September 1st 2012 would be as follows:
Code:
atc3030_linaro-cm10_09012012_0101.zip
ALL BUILDS WILL BE UPLOADED AND HOSTED ON GOO.im
Also, each rom will be versioned. Meaning that the goo.im app will notify you when a new build is available.
If you find a build to be malfunctioning or not working properly, the fastest way to fix this is to email me @ [email protected] and I will tend to the matter when I can. But I will, as soon as I can, Stop that ROM from being built until I can fix it.
To find me on goo.im, go to devs>atc3030>linaro>(ROM)Builds Will Commence At 12 AM EST on August 29th 2012. That is 8 Hours and 8 Minutes from this posting...
Thanks Guys, atc3030
Lastly, I will never, ever put up a donation link as I personally feel greedy if I do that, HOWEVER, if you are so inclined to help me get through college, please PM me and I'll Tell you how to donate.

Can't wait!

i read the description 13 times. i'm still confused. can you give an example on what would be the difference between the official CM10 nightly to your Linaro nightly?

A linaro build is a build using the linaro toolchain. The linaro toolchain is based on a newer version of GCC compiler, which I know its confusing. But the best I can explain it is linaro builds are faster and perform better than normal builds without needing to OC or do anything else.

So are you just compiling them with the new toolchain or are you doing anything else?

Linaro is basically a code optimizer. Its make everything smoother and perform faster. Its like a system cleaner for a PC. Allowing everything to perform easier with out kinks in the code. This kinda clarifies any issues with what linaro does.

I'm not trying to be that guy who tells people to not ask questions, but the OP made perfect sense. I highly recommend you do some research on what exactly Linaro is. After doing some Googling on Linaro, reread the OP and it will make perfect sense to you as well. By the way, Linaro is something you would want to know more about anyway if you are an Android enthusiast so get the real explanation and not just someone else's take on it. Here is a link to get you started:
www.linaro.org
I am also very interested to see how this project turns out and will certainly be checking back in.

UPDATE: I cannot get baked to build for somereason. Keeps complaining about missing files and when I get one, another one goes missing. So unless its in REALLY High demand, I will not be including it. Sorry Guys

Looking forward to it

Hey as long as you have CNA working I'm happy!

Awesome dude! Excited to try this out. Thanks a bunch

Can you add Eclipse ROM to the list that would be awesome... Thanks in Advance

Looking Forward to AOKP and CNA, maybe you can add Eclipse?

I think he would need to ask Nitro first. And Nitro takes a lot of pride in his work. Would you really want eclipse from anyone else? No offense to the op sure what he is doing is great. But Nitro already has eclipse looking sick and full of butter!

I will ask Nitro Once I get everything else running without any hiccups. But for now, I can only do what I can listed. Sorry
UPDATE: EVERYTHING BUILDS OK. ALL I HAVE TO DO NOW IS FINISH THE BUILD BOT THEN WE WILL BE ONLINE!!!!

We respectfully request that the Eos project not be included here. As I'm sure you will discover, the Linaro toolchain breaks all sorts of stuff, and we don't want our image tarnished when that occurs. The Linaro optimizations go far beyond simply using their toolchain. We are the only team I know of the has been able to fully harnass these optimizations. I challenge anyone to run an Antutu benchmark comparison against our build.

Bored... Your thoughts?

Im running CM9, Came from an N1 (which i still think is a great phone). Anyhow, I do like ICS I think the GNex is nice device, but its somewhat boring stock, and not much better than that with CM9...
Im not sure if CM is just falling by the wayside, but the CM7 software on my N1 had sooo much more to tinker with (they really made android come alive)
What does everyone else think? Any nice ROMs I should be flashing that are more advanced in development?
Go bunjee jumping. Not very boring.

Try AOKP.
Go read up on the thread for Android development, then the themes and apps, there's so much going on, you won't be bored =)
Also Liquid smooth has many tweaks and customizations you can try

CM9 is still being developed, they're still porting features and things over from CM7 as well as developing new features. They'll have a lot more when they're done.

A lot of the features from Liquidsmooth are from AOKP. Look at "Liquid Control" vs "ROM Control."

And I know for a fact that AOKP had ROM Control first with a lot of these settings. Not calling them out or anything but a lot of ROMs share features (kanging source).

Try MIUI. Try the different ports from Xperia's to Sense 4.0 (although most of them aren't stable enough for daily use they can be played with for a day and is quite interesting.)
I think its just that back in the day Android, and the carrier customizations were so crappy that you absolutely needed to tinker with the phone to get it to work right.
I'm finding I'm bored too with ICS. It's because I don't need to do anything to it. Its like tinkering with the settings page of Gmail. "this is... good."
My thoughts? I think you should get a girlfriend… and spend less time with your phone.
AOKP has an incredible amount of tweaks.
Sounds like you need to flash a buggy ROM or two son.
Yeah doesn't aokp have a huge jump on cm9 with features? You really should try aokp. Cm9 needs more dev time.

AOKP has more features but less stability / speed.
OP, give this a shot: http://bit.ly/zg5fZw It adds some features to CM9 that allow for some more customization.
Try swimming with your phone?

Some might call that bloat.
I am using AOKP for fast featured tweaks/mods and stable rom. I'll eventually jump back to cyanogen, after they reached RC1. Or maybe AOKP for Gnex, CM9 for sgs2. But oh well, after using AOKP, i tend to stay with it a long time without trying other roms. Its the best for now.

If you include the kitchen sink, eventually roaches crawl out of it. This applies to any rom.

Oh wait: http://rootzwiki.com/forum/497-bug-tracker/
HAHAA there is some funny [email protected] in here, I have already tried bungee... in Thailand over a pool, that was enough for me!
the CM9 is very stable which is great, just needs more stuff ported over. I wouldn't buy a phone unsupported by CM I've loved there roms in past.
Ill try some of these other you guys suggested...
Oh and to the dude talking about finding a GF... are you the Pot or the Kettle?

op says 4.6
No discernible performance difference, by feel or benchmark to my noob eye. Antutu'd at 6100 on the stock kernel/settings which is normal. Some graphical glitches when exiting apps. The standard ICS animation scales were slightly more tolerable than normal, or that could be wishful thinking.
A ton of Linaro related commits and a lot of work to do to make it all work I'm sure; hope to see them merged officially soon.
Used gcc 4.6 because I am building on 10.10 and 4.7 isn't available.

my point exactly. if it is linaro 4.6, both 4.6 and 4.7 are for download, you don't have to depend on the debian/ubuntu repository.

I would love to see rascream source built with the 4.7 toolchain, rascream is the business as it is!
Wasn't the 4.7 one the one that was used for the build in the video that was posted here a week or so ago?

I think OP used plain gcc 4.6 to compile. The whole point of linaro is an optimized toolchain. I really hope we see some real improvements with the linaro gcc.

I feel less stuttering when scrolling. And overall animations (or any movement) seems to be smoother. The most noticable for me is the smoother scrolling.
Seems less frames are dropped.
Good job

First thing I noticed that recreating dalvik cache was really fast compared to previously. Everything seems quick and chrome seems to be a bit faster. Still fairly clunky but Chrome has always been like that for me.

I am trying this build and finding it super smooth and quite fast.

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] LegacyCarbon 4.4 \\ 18.11.2013 \\ Built From Source

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

You mean back to Jellybean 4.1? Another 4.2 rom has that problem too?
Sent from my LG-E975 using xda app-developers app
Haven't testet your rom yet, but on other 4.2.2 roms(official CM, ThinkingBridge) there are no gaming problems.
Right now i'm making a backup and will flash Carbon. Will provide feedback as soon as possible.

I think we have such powerfull hardware so gaming should be an important part too.
This little baby handles Doom3,..yeah Doom3.

Porting Vanilla 4.4

I understand that the biggest problem here is the kernel, and that nobody cared to put in the required work for 4.3 since it brought absolutely nothing of importance. However, 4.4 brings a huge amount of new features, but most importantly, as many of you know, it has vastly improved support for lower-end devices, such as the HOV. I know that building a kernel is a huge amount of work, but I think that for a legacy device this cool, it's actually worth it. Will anyone actually go for it? khmhellboykhm
its not that nobody cared, people bought new phones and moved on
@bradthomas127 got 4.3 booting for the CDMA variant so I'm sure its possible! We will just have to be patient and see
I'm waiting on @cybervibin & @lilrob1213 to get it up and running and then i will steal it and post is as my own ROM just like i did with Carbon4.3
It's going to be a while before i'll even look into it, it will probably be another month before CM starts even releasing KitKat branches onto GitHub.
I've been watching all the trouble Lloir has been having on IRC trying to build 4.4 AOSP and i dont think this is going to be a easy process.
I have made a kitkat branch and have started doing some big clean up getting ready it.

A LOT!
Hm nice laptops, but back to topic, I would like to know how hard it would be to get working 4.4 into the HOV.
Also do you guys know why kids love the flavor of Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

Everybody are pissing their pants waiting for KitKat but don't forget about growing number of non-compatible apps sometimes those apps are very important
