If already rooted the stock ROM on a new TMo S3 with the first ODIN-based solution posted (CM recovery), can I use the ROM manager to update the newly released TMo update via stock ODIN flashable ROM with root injected into the system image - TMO T999UVALH2, without having to go through all the steps with ODIN, ...
If the ROM manager is not to be used for root66_TMO_T999UVALH2.tar, then are the steps provided in the link above still useable, even for previously rooted S3?
[OT] After having rooted the phone, checking the flash counter I found it to be 3. Any idea why?
Root66 version is a tar file so u have to update via Odin. Also u need to be on stock recovery not cwm.

Thank you for the follow-up. Although I am done with the upgrade via the easiest path: Kies to be able to install the latest official OTA-released -> then re-root using the original link I sent, I am a little confused about your last statement: the root66 I have is inclusive of the UVALH2, which is the latest official version, in my understanding. I found a reference to an UVALH3 (supposedly JB related), but that is not what Samsung / TMo delivered OTA lately, and I don't think that's what you meant?!?

Hey everyone,
When T-mobile released their OTA 4.1 Jellybean Update, I was stoked, downloaded it, and installed it. Ever since I installed it, I've had more problems than I did when I didn't have jellybean. The phone is slower, texting glitches, and games glitch. I'm a bit frustrated. I have to restart my phone more often and the ram is always at 1.05gb out of 1.56gb. It use to always be under 600-700mb. I was wondering if anyone has been having problems since the update and if there is a way to restore the 4.0 ice cream without root.
Thank you for your time

It's been a while since I've done programming like this so I'm pretty rusty at it. I was wondering if you could help me.
I have the SGH-T999 with UVDLJA. I would download the "OFFICIAL SGH-T999 Firmware for use with ODIN correct?
Then download... (I'm on Mac OSX, you think that's ok?)
1) Odin 3.07
2) USB Drivers - V. 1.5.9.0

I don't think this works on the mac. Use windows if you can. Download the usb drivers, odin, and the firmware you would like. If you wanna go back to ICS then download the ICS firmware. There is a pre-rooted stock & non-rooted stock so just select whichever one you want and then flash it using odin.

So right now, I'm on the 4.1 jellybean and i have the UVDLJA as my baseband. There are no UVDLJA ICS 4.0 software, however there is a UVALJ4 ICS 4.0 software available. Would it be alright if I used that and flashed it? I really do appreciate your help. And final question, i'll still be able to receive updates on my from OTA from T-mobile correct?

UVDLJA & UVALJ4 are the names of the actual firmware
UVDLJA = jellybean
UVALJ4 = icecream sandwich
the baseband is just the radio/modem. You can restore the phone to icecream sandwich and flash the UVDLJA radio which is found on a different thread but that will require root since you'll need to use CWM or TWRP to flash it.
And yes you should still be able to receive OTA from t-mobile since you'll still be on stock firmware. If you're rooted you could lose your root in the process though.
Wanting to drop stock(latest) back onto my phone as the person buying it wants that. I want to say I remember reading I needed a newer bootloader for 4.4.2. I got my device on launch and got tired of waiting and went to CM11.
What if anything other than clearing data/cache and flashing the stock deodexed/rooted ROM would I need to do? If there is a bootloader, is it a separate odin file? or flashable .zip?

If you're on 4.3 still you will have to Odin a stock 4.3 firmware on to the phone. You can not have a custom recovery on the phone so the Odin way will also replace the custom recovery with stock recovery. Then once your phone is stock, you can then take the update to 4.4.2
If I'm not mistaken, you should download the 4.4.2 fw and Odin that on you phone as well. Even though you are Odining your new fw, the phone must be fully stock or that update will still fail.

Well I was on 4.3 stock then went to Cyanogen 4.4.2. I've now got the deodexed/rooted stock 4.4.2 from the forum here and was able to boot it using leankernel. It works and the buyer is satisfied with it. He know how to flash updated ROMs so he can change later anyway. Thanks for the response though, I was thinking noone was gonna answer.

If you want the newest/latest official stock N900T KitKat firmware why not do the following:
You need to download and Odin flash the official stock KitKat N900T NE6 firmware.
Here is the direct fast download link for it:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358537528
The above zip file also contains Odin, CF-Autoroot and TWRP 2.7.0.1 recovery.
Be sure to go into recovery before Odin flashing NE6 and do a factory data reset
and a full wipe. Optional: Then Odin flash cf-autoroot and the TWRP 2.7.0.1.
If you want more information and or instructions here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...60&postcount=2
If you want the older official stock N900T 4.4.2 NB4 KitKat rom you can
download it from: http://tekunix.com/downloads/TMB-N900TUVUCNB4-20140305155920.zip
and Odin flash it instead of the stock NE6 official N900T firmware.
Both the older and newer official Kitkat stock roms come with the required bootloaders/baseband.
Good luck!

So clear data/factory reset and clear cache in recovery. Reboot into download and flash NE6, then cf-autoroot, then TWRP? I didn't see you say exactly when to flash NE6.
so i downgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1, i sim unlocked my phome and i installed the root thing, both with odin.
now i want to upgrade to 4.1.2, so i have this link to a 4.1.2 zip file, not the same as the other odin files which were like md5 or something that i used with PDA with odin, here is this link.

now my question is how to i use the zip file to update, it says something about mobile odin but there are no real instructions to update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2
also will i loose my downloaded files and my root?
also how to update to 4.3 after i update to 4.1.2
thanks for all your help!!!!

You don't have to update to 4.1.2 to update to 4.3.
If you go with a custom ROM, you will keep root. Although, if you flash stock ROM with Odin, you will lose it.
Mobile Odin can be used to flash (don't interrupt it), if you wish to go that route. No special instructions.
You can also flash using Odin (PC version), once again, don't interrupt it. You'll have to unzip and use the PDA file.
Finally, if you wanna flash a custom ROM, you can install TWRP, which you can get from GooManager on the Play Store (menu then install recovery). That will let you flash a custom ROM in recovery.
Now before you do any of that, please take the time to read and fully understand what you are doing, w/e option you choose to go with.

You can only flash the zips via recovery. Download both zip files to your PC and copy to a good quality micro SD card. Place the card in your phone and boot your phone to recovery mode. First you flash the 4.1.2 zip, then reboot to recovery again and repeat the process with the 4.3 zip.
Yes, you will lose root and you may lose your downloaded files which is why you need to do a back-up before updating. Once you have updated to 4.3, you can re-root your phone.
Hey just wondering if I should do the update to stock 4.3 OTA or not. I've been looking at the root66 knox free 4.3 and it sounds good. Any Issues with it? or stock OTA? I've read mixed reviews, and am now confused. Also if I do install root66 on this wind t999v, am I required to install the stock OTA 4.3 update for it to work? Or am I in a better situation if I just install it from 4.1.2? Also any basic instructions on what I would have to do to install root66 would be much appriciated. I'm technologically inclined, just been out of the cellphone moding scene for quite some time, and just want to ask before I start asking how to unbrick. Thanks in advance.:good:
Knox Free Root 66 is always preferred over Stock update. The instructions and all the necessary files are in the Root66 Thread.
In short you need Odin v 3.xx Need to have the Drivers installed for your phone. Make sure Kies is not installed on your PC. Put your phone in Download mode and then connect to pc. Flash the Root66 file and you are done. There are several tutorials on Youtube for how to use Odin.
Note - For your Knowledge, please read on the 4.3 and its locked bootloader.
The root66 works fine on the wind phone and disables knox. it doesn't trip the flash counter so warranty is still intact if you had to flash back to a knox-rom. once you get into custom roms', the flash counter gets tripped though.
i just installed the 4.4.2 likewise rom, and it is smoooooooth. lol. it's not official though.

Im on Stock ANK2, rooted.
I see alot of "how to" do this and that with lollipop ....
So.. is Lollipop available to us now courtesy Sprint eith OTA or Odin'ed?
or are you guys doing custom roms?
thanks
BOB7 .tar hasn't been pulled yet, so you have to take the OTA via Full stock NK2, meaning non-rooted official, not modified firmware.
On touchwiz head to Settings > System Update > Update Now and you should see a dialogue for updating, it won't tell you what firmware it is but its the lollipop firmware, should be 1GB in size.

So i gotta un-root to get this new OTA lollipop..
Any suggestions on how to do that?
i also have TWRP...

the method described there worked for me. You download a copy of the stock, unrooted rom, use Odin to flash it, then do an OTA update to get lollipop (it's about a 1gb download). Then you'll download a small file, use Odin to flash it which will give you root, and then you can use Flashify from the app store to put TWRP back on there. Just follow the directions on the above link.
