Just curious what everyone's opinion on inverted gapps(dark background, light text) are. I just flashed Black Bean AOKP and it's taking some getting used to. It feels waaaay different than stock somehow for me.
Inverted for battery life if nothing else. I spend a lot of time in MMS!
I like inverted for the appearance. I've never noticed any increase in battery life, I just like the blacked out look.

I generally like the look and it helps on battery a little.

I prefer white text on black BG for certain apps(reddit, xda, RSS feeds) due to the way it's laid out. Normal browsing, texting and IMs I really don't care too much for inverted. I already get decent battery out of this thing. A little more wouldn't hurt, but I'm weird like that I guess.
I personally would like to have some inverted and some stock. For example, Gmail should be stock, cuz some emails look really odd and ugly when it has black background, but for something like phone and contracts, it just looks better with black background

Just got the ET4G and love the battery life.. But my evo3d screen looked sexier!
I hear this one is better, but it looks kinda *too* sharp as opposed to the 3d having a solid looking picturesque quality. Gradients appear pixalated rather that smooth and it seems that is because the 3d was a bit more blurry and the ET's bigger screen shows more flaws in apps made for smaller screens.
SO. is it possible to add a "sharpness" control parameter? Id love to soften up my screen a bit!
Don't know how hard that is or not. Seems like it is. peace and thanks!

Holy balls... I never thought I would ever hear anyone complain about the screen being too crisp.

Are you sure you picked up the EPIC 4G TOUCH?....hmmmm...I think you've been cheated!
What does my signature say? I simply believe this screen reveals the flaws in images.
For instance:
look at the gradient on the xda forum's loading page... its not so smooth.
Search for adobe in the all store.. I acrobat reader has horrific digital artifacts in that red frigging icon... I also may other icons look less than sexy.
Lastly, turn your phone off and plug it in.. The gradient on the battery illustration is horrid..

Dang, Swift key added some weird auto corrections in that last tab..
One more weird observation: when you change the screen mode from "Dynamic" to "Standard" or "Movie", the color hue changes oddly.. Look at the facebook App color blue on Dynamic and then look at the color blue After changing to Movie.. It looks greenish... Hmmmmmm

This is my first attempt at theming/modifying an app. I hated the green icon as well as the grey notification icon so i switched them to blue let me know what you guys think. also if i uploaded it right. like i said its my first time lol
Edit: added zip file with mms.apk with a black background as well as changed the font color still with the blue icons let me know if i added the right zip and if it flashes. worked on my phone. still learning how to do this so hopefully it works for you too
some screen shots
So all you changed was the icon?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent Blue Tapatalk
yea im learning how to do more so for now thats all i wanted changed i just hated the green so now everything is blue
Gotta start somewhere, looks good
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Good to start somewhere but the thread title is pretty misleading. Makes it sound like the app is actually themed when it's just the icon (which has already been posted here btw).
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
well i only saw one with the launcher icon this is the notification too and yea i prob shoulda named it something else i honestly dont even know how to change it now. but thanks for the tip
Great start mate if you need any help let me know.

Looks great I hate green anyway!!!!
No luck using this apk... anyone else?
im using codename androids 4.0.3 rom idk if it makes a difference if you're on a 4.0.2 rom or not
Good start, I agree on the blue, it looks a million times better than green. The green is dated, from two years ago in Android. In 2012 it's all blue ice cream
I would love this theme, to be inverted next, black and blue looks sweet.
yea im gonna do that too as well as any other changes on other apps. any requests?
Any updates ?
yea themed the whole apk having trouble uploading it now though will try a different computer a little later
I personally hate the little portrait thing next to the persons name...I don't have any pics for my contacts so it just looks stupid.
Could you make a version that removes that?
EDIT: Won't install on my ROM , 4.0.3
not sure how to get rid of the pictures yet ill take a look at that and i uploaded a zip file with a black background too that should work for you
anyone try the zip yet to see if it works for them?
Just tried it for ya. Zip worked for me on CNA 1.0.1 with trinity 512 kernel...

Meant to also say Thanks....the blue does look much better than the green!

I've noticed my device has a different colored gradient than on most others I've seen on here.
For example:
In settings and after enabling hw acceleration in certain apps such as the xda app.You can see an obvious difference when compared to the settings menu on this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2g_QhlvmaY&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Also compared to this picture.
I also found a similar older topic only difference is mine is GSM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419564

Well apparently my screen looks like an LCD screen. None of the colors pop and the blues look grey. I've noticed the galaxy nexus phones that have the gorgeous display have the blue gradient and a darker non cyan blue for wifi and cell bars as well as the dialer. If your phone has the grey gradient and the wifi is cyan from stock. I suggest you take a closer look at your display.

I'm not really seeing the issue here. The gradient is supposed to be grey, not blue. The fact however is that the GN screen has problems with accurate color reproduction and the samples that you linked seem to have a lot of blue/purple color noise.

So what you're telling me is I'm one of the lucky few to get a good GN? Because before purchasing this phone I saw many video reviews for it and all of them had that blue gradient...not a gradient like the picture above you but still blue.

In super amoled light background doesn't really affect the battery.
Other than your really conscious about the battery life i suggest turning off the LV wallpaper and replacing it with black.

Actually it's been proven otherwise back in November.
Black vs White background at different brightness levels:

Overview:
Maximum Brightness White Image: 5h00m
Maximum Brightness Black Image: 10h52m
Minimum Brightness White Image: 10h20m

Don't surrender to colors!
Amoled works almost the same as plasma. Each pixel illuminates.

And brighter images use more power. Sucks manufacturers are limiting power consumption on plasmas by reducing power on bright images.

Umm yeah, welcome to 2009. We all know black colors use less power than white on amoled screens.

^seriously.
Also, who spends so much time looking at their wallpaper (especially a boring, solid color) to notice any difference?
I put black wallpaper I got those ugly black spots in the screen. blah
I used to use a black wallpaper because hey, why not, save on the battery, right?
Then I thought about how often my phone is actually displaying my wallpaper and decided it's a trivial matter. It's only ever a few seconds before I tap on something on my homescreen and it goes away. If I was constantly reading info off of widgets, at length, I'd care about it more.
These days I just load up whatever picture I think I'd like to see every now and then. Although I did like the clear contrast of pure black vs the icons etc.
Edit: Also the test linked to in one of the first replies, worth noting that Minimum brightness, white image is only slightly worse than the black results. Brightness matters more than color. Dial it down and look at whatever colors you like best.
Pssst...download no wallpaper app from market. Its a true no wallpaper display.

I've never used anything other than black on any mobile I've ever used.
I use a solid black wallpaper, but not to save battery. I just like the way it looks.

For me black wallpaper does matter coz if i open my phone its like 2 seconds before i launch and app leaving the home screen. ^o^

I suggest you themes with inverted apps like mine if you really wanna save something, a wallpaper does not saves that much

Doesn't this happen due to a low res not pure black image being used?
I never had that issue, so unless something is wrong with your display I suggest trying a different image

As of now I am running liquid smooth with Franco and tw add on. I'm pretty sure the battery life is worse than straight stock and not sure if it's due to Rom, kernel, or add on. Normally which influences battery life more?
Also, I've been searching but haven't found anything as far as a Rom with tw cooked in? Does one exist? The reason I ask is because I prefer the tw style, layout, and colors. The black and blue of most nexus roms/themes just bores me.
