I am running a CM9 nightly (8/25). At first, I had no issues. However, at some point today, audio stopped working. For testing purposes, I flashed over to the stock rom and sound was working fine. (ruling out hardware issues) I then flashed back to my CM9 rom. Audio still not working. I was messing around with a few things in settings and such, but can't seem to figure out what I did (or undid). I backtracked and couldn't find anything out of place that would have caused this problem. Can anyone make some suggestions as to what else I could look at?
thanks...
Are you sure its cm9? I'm pretty sure a 8/25 build of cm9 doesn't exist. I suspect its cm10, and if it is, this is a known issue with today's build which should be fixed by tomorrow.
Probly should look here....

its actually cm10 you flashed. and you should really try and read or search the thread from which you downloaded and flashed the rom. you would no that that's an issue with that rom from todays build.

Everything indicates it's CM9. Even the boot animation... :/ But it does make sense that I would be having this problem sense CM10 is having this issue... I'll wait till tomorrow and see if it's fixed... thanks...
CM10 still uses the CM9 boot animation right now, so it must be CM10 you flashed. I did the same thing without reading the thread first, and lost my audio. I dirty flashed 8-24 over it and got my audio back. I think one user said it didn't work for him, but it may help your issue. I'm no expert, but looking at tonight's changelog, it looks like there's a bunch of audio related fixes in the works, so hopefully we'll be back in business tomorrow.
As someone else said, check this thread, and your best bet is to give it a couple hours after the new build is available and check there to make sure there are no major issues. Hope this helps

Is the synergy nightly updates working yet or do I still need to download from link? Asking just to make sure I am not having an issue, so far I am digging this rom.
As of the latest nightly; it is not working. I think it will be easier once they get it working though.
Awesome ROM
Yea, it doesn't seem to work in all parts from what I can see.
It looks like CondemnedSoul's Kangdemnation v5 is the only ROM with the rotating softkey fix. Aeroevan's unofficial CM9 Rom used to have it but it hasn't been implemented in his past few releases. Also, the newer CM9 and CM10 Roms that have been released also don't have this fix (probably because they use Aeroevan's Rom as a base). Anyway, if someone can point me or set up a flashable zip file that we can install on top of the newer AOSP Roms, it'll be definitely appreciated! :highfive:
P.S.: I was told to put it here so excuse me if I posted the same question in another section :cyclops:

If the suggestion I gave you in the other thread didn't work then there isn't currently a tool available. So maybe someone will be nice and make it for you, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah I responded to you in the other thread but that was deleted from the section. The fix you mentioned only fixes the issue with the softkey lights turning off really quickly instead of turning off when the screen turns off. It references another link where you can download some libraries but it's missing the key library to make fix the issue.
Thanks anyway!
Aero did have it working in most of the older cm9 builds and if you don't mind gb I believe he has them on his cm7.2 build. At the moment I know he is working mostly on cm10 across a few devices and he just recently got married so since the soft keys not rotating doesn't prevent them from working it is kind of far down on the list of things to work on. Just have patience I am sure they will be rotating soon enough as aero has done a fantastic job so far.

Hello Everybody,
especially kernel developpers! Please try to have a look at the issue, in my opinion is a kernel repack issue, googled it to death without a solution! Slowly everybody is moving on to new HBOOTs and the 4.2 project is still far from stable.

Trip's ROM and his kernel combined have working GPS. As far as I know, not much kernel devs can do without the source.
I know that, I am using SlimBean, love the rom, but the thread support is a bit...let's say, slow (rather non existent). I looked for smth like a stable release, I saw that they have anounced that this is the final version of 4.1 and they start working on 4.2. No busgs in the rom. Of course, in no changelog or issue list the nonfunctional GPS issue is not mentioned. I am still convinced that there is a way to do it! I'll keep roaming the forum!
It is likely to be sorted when jb kernel sources are released.
And don't ask when, nobody knows.

Of course I don't ask when, I never ask when, but does at least anyone know what the issue is?

Probably kernel incompatibility with newer hboots.
Apparently there is micro kernel responsible for the GPS and the repack for the new boots is not done right.
No one any idea?
Answer:
"People started to get confusing when newer hboot versions stopped working with custom ROMs: The reason for this is that people used an ancient init binary that crashed with newer hboot releases."

I too suffered loss of GPS after updating to 1.31
I have tried a number of NON sense roms, but Ice Cold Jelly running Android 4.2.1 is good. Working GPS again - phew!

I searched up and down for this, but for some reason when ever I use many of the roms here my menu buttons are still active when I am in call causing me to push the search button and cause google voice search to pop up. This happens way to often.
It doesnt happen when I use the CM Windows based installer to install the rom, but the battery and performance on that is not too great.
Rushing's Roms dont seem to have this but I dont really like touchwiz, and when I try any roms with the uber kernel they all have this bug and I tried to search in those threads for this but the search engine could not find anything.
I think its UBER kernel related, but also the CM Rom with Diablo kernel does the same thing, and I looked up and down in trickster mod control for button behavior but I just cant find it.
Anyone could point me in the right direction at least?
oh come on, anyone?

If it bothers you that much, don't use Uber. Simple.

Its not that I dont want to use UBER or any other Kernel, if its something that IS as a result of the Kernel and everything else is works well I can deal.
but maybe its an issue thats been fixed and I cant seem to locate the thread because I maybe simply do not know how to word it correctly.

Ahh. So do the ROMs still have the problem if you don't flash a different kernel?

been trying it out with various different combinations.
Vanilla AOKP and CM seem ok.
ThDudes's CM 10.2 + Diablo Kernel (Kernel already fused into the rom) button issue still persists, UBER Kernel flashed with TWRP on both AOKP on CM button issue persists.
but then, if I reflash vanilla AOKP or CM through TWRP the issue will still persist.
Its either the Kernel or TWRP, as you "shouldnt" flash UBER through CWP i cant quite isolate the problem.
been going back and forth quite a bit here, I would love to stick with vanilla AOKP or CM but idle battery drain is extremely excessive, and they both crash when trying to change the governor.
I am just trying to find a good stable ground to operate on as I save up for an S4 and to have a well known return point after I go on a flashing spree.
I have only been dabbling with 4.3 based roms, so I havent had the chance to try any previous version roms yet, other than Rushing's Shadow rom which was great with battery, super fast, but sadly had touchwiz which i tried to get used to but it was missing alot of the things I needed.

I have been using Slimbean 4.3.1 with @Cl3Kener stable kernel for a long while. It has been rock solid for me.

I'll have to give that a try. Been out of the loop on slimbean, used it for a little on my S1 Vibrant a while ago.
Just flashed LiquidSmooth, and apart from being only 4.1.2 AOSP, seems to be running pretty well.
hi I am currently running AOKP 4.4.4 the latest one. It is really buggy. AI see AOKP stopped supporting this device a year ago. I Looked around but I dont see any kernels for 4.4.4 roms. But some dont really specify. Does anyone know what kernels can be used with 4.4.4? Any help would be apriciated. Thank you.

Thanks. I will try them out. I seem to be having alot of problems with gapps. Especially the play music. It seems if I update them they stop working. I even tried going back to jb mr2 milestone 1 and even then it is all buggy. I dont even want to think about putting lollipop on this device. Not yet anyway. But hopfully the different kernels will fix some of the issues I am having.
