I searched up and down for this, but for some reason when ever I use many of the roms here my menu buttons are still active when I am in call causing me to push the search button and cause google voice search to pop up. This happens way to often.
It doesnt happen when I use the CM Windows based installer to install the rom, but the battery and performance on that is not too great.
Rushing's Roms dont seem to have this but I dont really like touchwiz, and when I try any roms with the uber kernel they all have this bug and I tried to search in those threads for this but the search engine could not find anything.
I think its UBER kernel related, but also the CM Rom with Diablo kernel does the same thing, and I looked up and down in trickster mod control for button behavior but I just cant find it.
Anyone could point me in the right direction at least?
oh come on, anyone?

Its not that I dont want to use UBER or any other Kernel, if its something that IS as a result of the Kernel and everything else is works well I can deal.
but maybe its an issue thats been fixed and I cant seem to locate the thread because I maybe simply do not know how to word it correctly.

been trying it out with various different combinations.
Vanilla AOKP and CM seem ok.
ThDudes's CM 10.2 + Diablo Kernel (Kernel already fused into the rom) button issue still persists, UBER Kernel flashed with TWRP on both AOKP on CM button issue persists.
but then, if I reflash vanilla AOKP or CM through TWRP the issue will still persist.
Its either the Kernel or TWRP, as you "shouldnt" flash UBER through CWP i cant quite isolate the problem.
been going back and forth quite a bit here, I would love to stick with vanilla AOKP or CM but idle battery drain is extremely excessive, and they both crash when trying to change the governor.
I am just trying to find a good stable ground to operate on as I save up for an S4 and to have a well known return point after I go on a flashing spree.
I have only been dabbling with 4.3 based roms, so I havent had the chance to try any previous version roms yet, other than Rushing's Shadow rom which was great with battery, super fast, but sadly had touchwiz which i tried to get used to but it was missing alot of the things I needed.

I'll have to give that a try. Been out of the loop on slimbean, used it for a little on my S1 Vibrant a while ago.
Just flashed LiquidSmooth, and apart from being only 4.1.2 AOSP, seems to be running pretty well.

Well you can just flash the newest stock 4.08.605.15 rom, and then flash a custom kernel like gingertiny. You could use my rom Touch Of Blue. Its mostly stock based on android 4.08.605.15 with many usefull enhancements, and has the gingertiny kernel built in. You could also use one of the many older android version based roms with a custom kernel.

Do these ROMS have options like overclocking, 360degree tilt, and/or have the volume rocker wake up the device?
Thank you so much for your feedback it's great to know the community is still rocking this device.
Try them all.

Most all custom kernels have over/underclocking. None of the roms i mentiomed have tilt or rocker wakup, but my rom TOB does have a trackball wake, unlock, or wake&unlock flashable mods.

Thank you very much! I'll look into flashing it and see how it goes! Right now I'm busy with finals but I'll let you all know how it goes. My power button broke off and I actually use a key to trigger the circuit between the points to power on the device, and having the volume rocker wake it up has been pretty convenient, but having the trackball wake it up would be nice because it's sunken on my device a little, thus making it less able to wake up. Could you also point me in the direction to flashing that ability on top of your ROM? Or is it built in?

It is a seperate flashable that can be found in the fourth post of the roms thread here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492720 Just wipe everything in the mounts and storrage menu in recovery except emmc and sdcard. Then flash the rom, and then flash the mod right after and boot.

Just curious, what version of CM9 are you using? KANG or something or other? Does Bluetooth or camcorder work? If so which exact build are you running? Thanks!
You should also check out Albinomans jellybean beta 3, i've been using his jellybean rom since beta 1.5 and it is the best rom out there for jellybean on the Inc IMO. The only things that don't work are the camcorder and bluetooth.

That has a mirror for the JB beta 3
I currently use albinoman's beta 3 jelly bean rom and it works great for me. That being said I would recommend flashing CyanogenMod's ver 7.2 as it is well tested and a solid first rom to flash. You can find it at cyanogenmod.com. Just click on devices and find the incredible in the list. glhf
hi,
i know asking what rom is better is not a good questions as it is different for different people. However, I just want to know what is the most stable, so once I flash it i dont need to keep re flashing.
I am ussualy a fan of CM and when they get stable releases I flash them and then dont need to think about it anymore. on my previous samsung galaxy S I used the CM9 RC for a long time until the stable CM9 came out and then used that.
currently there is not stable CM10 and when it comes out I will probaby use it perminently.
What JB rom can i install that will be stable to use for the next months until CM10 stable comes out?
im using stock JB right now.

Bugless Beast, 9-27 has to new binaries and is JRO03R.

Rasbeanjelly. Its the cleanest rom ever. Fast, amazing battery life and the latest aosp source. Also the nee binaries from jro03R. You should try it. It has the power widget, lockscreen targets and some more mods. If you dont like all the blue of the icons, simply flash modstorms white mod. Flash the rom + trinity/franco. The outcome is awesome performance, no slowdowns, everything just works. No reboots and sh!t. I highly recommend it.

You've already got the most stable Jelly Bean software then
stock, are you jellin, cm10.
after those you get into roms with more features and and there tends to be little bugs that sometimes go along with them.
Nothing against the others Ive had good experiences on alot of roms but as for the MOST stable these in my opinion would be them.
Stock ROM.
Beamed from my Grouper.
ok looking into BAMF and rasbeanjelly.
another question that could help me dicide between the two. do either have the possibility to upgrade the rom on the device without a computer. so when i install it i can always have the latest version without having to keep resetting to factory settigns and wiping all the data and cache

Hello again guys,
I sucessfully rooted my phone but now I have a problem. I have read through alot of forums and sites and I guess the next logical step is to get a new rom and kernel. Now I have done alot of reading about all this but I'm getting quite confused between the pair. From my understanding the kernel controls all the complex stuff like making your phone run faster/slower and increasing/decreasing battery life.... I'm stumped at what a rom is,it's like, the operating system but custom ones are more streamlined?
So what I'm asking for is a little information and some suggestions of what I should put onto my phone, I read something about a smartassv2 which is supposed to keep the phone more balanced, now im sure if it is a kernel or a governor?
Any help would be apprciated.

Yeah, the utility I used to root it also installed cwm, I checked it out and did a backup which should be on my SD card now.
beleive it's gsm, it has a sim card and is on T-mobile.
Ive just installed link2sd and partitioned my sd card, was able to move over a game that I couldnt originally get over to the sd card, saving a bit of space.
Also with link2sd I was able to delete preinstalled bloat like twitter, friendstream, news, weather, stocks, etc.
So far a good day

smartassv2 is governer you can use cfq scheduler with it.
about suggestions:
after rooting you have two options:
use cyanogenmod roms:
cm9.1/cm10
(original modpunk cm9.1 ,speed droid,jelly king,miui etc)
use stock sense roms:
(wildchild etc,sense 3.5 etc)
these all are main roms after there are many variations like pacman rom, aokp build cm9 but they are not much stable at this time so.

note:
cm=cyanogenmod
cm9.1 aka ICS 4.0.4
cm10 aka JB 4.1.2
ps there are many other roms based on cm10 like pacman, miui and also slimroms ,paranoid(its tablet ui rom you can change dpi of any app widget its benefit of this rom)
but i havent tried them but you can.
Personal oppinion
When I rooted my wildfire s I was exactly like you. I started wondering what I should do or where I could find it.
After testing a few roms I will tell you what worked for me: Test different roms till you find the one that suits you.
Anyway, I'll tell you my advice:
- WildJOY joyOS First rom I tested. No bugs found.
- Modpunk's CM10 As far as I've read the rom every one uses as the base for their own ones.
- JellyKing This is the one I'm using right now. Active development and really smooth.
Jelly King V2.0
I flashed my phone with Jelly King V2.0 4 days back. Its working very smoothly.
You get 69 MB of internal space to install things.
Panorma mode in camera etc. Try it. you'll love it.

Kantry 123 made amazing job i really appreciate his hard work :good:
I don't find it that laggy as you say. Maybe it's because i don't spect too much from my little device. If i were you i'd try the kernel to test if it goes smoother or not.

I'm running CM 10.1 currently and looking into flashing a new kernel (KT747) for better battery performance. I am still new to kernels but I was wondering how I would go about backing up the current kernel so that I can restore it if anything goes wrong, or if I am unhappy with the new one.

This is the kernel I'm looking to flash, looks like a great one with lots of options for performance tweaks and battery saving:

Also, I found an app called Trickster MOD from the Play Store that allows you to backup your kernel... however I'm not sure if that's the correct way to go about doing this, I just want to be sure to have a backup of the CM kernel in case things go awry with this one.

Hey man, if that kernel fails you there's another kernel called leankernel, which I actually prefer over kt747. I can usually overclock higher with better stability. Though, it's all up to how your phone handles it. Try making a complete backup of your rom if you can to save your kernel. Good luck.

I'm kinda screwed right now. The file system on 4.2 is awful, and if you restore a previous rom and install 4.2 again it creates more of a mess. I'm in the process of fixing all of these directories currently. Just be careful.

Try to just reflash the rom, or flash a new nightly over it. That's usually what I do when I have a kernel I don't like, it flashes right over it back to the stock cm kernel.

Thanks. I will try them out. I seem to be having alot of problems with gapps. Especially the play music. It seems if I update them they stop working. I even tried going back to jb mr2 milestone 1 and even then it is all buggy. I dont even want to think about putting lollipop on this device. Not yet anyway. But hopfully the different kernels will fix some of the issues I am having.
