Stock Recovery - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Hi all, I officially updated to ICS and I need to return to the stock recovery honeycomb, but I deleted time ago the intall.recovery.sh and now I get this message every time I use the factory reset data "recovery verified failed". I have no other way to hold the power button to turn off the device and press the button again to turn on and get into the system ICS.
I do not know if this is a possible solution.
If some one share the original file to copy and paste, would be very grateful. :cyclops:

Are you coming from a custom recovery? You currently have the official ICS installed? It almost sounds like you have yourself locked out of the bootloader / fastboot. If thats the case just consider yourself lucky that you can use ICS period! But if you have the stock A100 bootloader and not the hacked a200 bootloader, and you have an official ICS rom, then what you are asking for should be all you need, unfortunately I don't have the file as I never intended to return to stock myself, I'm sure someone else will come along soon who will upload it for you though.

Same issue but from HC

Ill attach the stock recovery for one of the ICS roms that vache posted, but I can't remember the exact build #. I know it's not the leak version, and if it helps I also used it to flash back to stock after some funny business.
I just noticed something, you are aware that image you linked to is a A101 image, right?

I'm glad it worked out for you, but if this fixed your device that you made a previous bricked thread about, could you please to back, and post an update to that thread discribing what you did, and how you did it, to get the device back up again? It'll definatly help anyone else with this same issue.
You're welcomed, we are here to help each other after all. You should follow pio's advice and describe what you did so others can benefit from your experience. We have to make such info as readily available as possible.

He had a brick not a locked bootloader, you can't flash a bootloader directly if its locked with fast boot.

Put an stock rom update on the root of your external sdcard (vache & zeronull have released some), rename it update.zip. I'd don't recommend recommend relocking your bootloader unless you're absolutely sure what you are doing, so that means that if the rom you downloaded has a bootloader.blob you need to delete it, or look for one that doesn't have it (I think vache's don't have it)
Now reboot into fastboot
adb reboot bootloader

once in fastboot
fastboot erase recovery

then
fastboot flash recovery "recovery.img file location"

That should give you stock recovery, after that I usually hold down the volume button closest to the lock switch and run
fastboot reboot

After you see the green android with the progress bar in the bottom your rom should be flashing, and hopefully once finished you'll be ready to re-root, and reflash your rom... if you were careful and had a nandroid-backup you could even restore your /data (I don't usually restore my /system or other partitions).
Godspeed in your flashing endeavors my friend.

thank you very much for the detailed explanation masr1979. I'll give it a shot when I get home from work.
Basically I got the rear camera replaced, it was working great. About a couple weeks later It's running sluggishly because I was running too many apps at once. So I decided to press the reset button while It was lagging out, next thing I know It's stuck at the silver android logo forever. I tried using some update.zip's but that just made the problem worse.
Well it seems my knowledge level was a few steps back from where it needed to be to fully understand the instructions as posted, so the last 24 hours have been a whole lot of 'old dog learning new tricks'. I have adb and fastboot installed now via one of the threads found through googling. When I enter 'adb reboot bootloader' everything seems to go fine, but when I enter 'fastboot erase recovery' I get 'ersaing 'recovery' ... FAILED (remote: (00000002)) ANy tips from you pros?? I've been beating my head against the wall for a while and neither my head or the wall are looking too good right now Thanks for any help anyone may offer.

Thanks for jumping in here pio_masaki. It's very much appreciated.
Sorry for the lack of details, I realize that I should have given that info from in my first post.
Android version is 4.0.3 ,I flashed it with the first ICS leak that showed up here on XDA.
Bootloader version is v0-03.11-ICS
The A100 is not rooted.
After the official ICS update was being streamed I realized that I wasn't getting it. Figured it was because I had already flashed the early leak. I saw here on XDA a few threads where people were trying to get back to HC because they were having the same problem. I followed steps and advice listed in those other threads but nothing was working for me. I always got the dead android logo any time I tried to recover using an 'update.zip' on my external sd card. When I get the dead android logo and press the home button I do get the recovery menu button soon noticed that even though I could scroll through the menu I could not select any of the options. I saw this thread and it seemed to be very similar to my situation.
thanks again for your time.

So...you flashed the bootloader to get back to HC and now it won't use update.zip? What about booting into android, does that still work? Or fast boot? Or uhm...I seem to recall having to do a hard reset to get the downgrade to work, have you done this too? I never downgraded just seemed pointless when I was already on ics so I'm not experienced with it, just recall seeing the boot loader needing a hard reset to work.
Tapatalked from my Galaxy S II.
No, I never flashed the bootloader, not unless that happens while trying to run an update.zip. adb and fastboot seem to be working. Based on the earlier instructions 'adb reboot bootloader' does restart the A100 and gives me the bootloader message at the top left of the screen. When I run the ' fastboot erase recovery' command I get the FAILED message in the command prompt window and also get a message in red text on the A100 saying 'Fastboot: not support the command in lockmode, failed to process command erase: recovery error (0x2)'. When I run the 'fastboot reboot' command the A100 does restart. So all that leads to believe that the communication from my computer to the A100 is ok.
Booting into Android. The A100 starts and works fine if that is what you are referring too. As far as the hard reset, if that's the process of holding down the volume button while powering up and flipping the lock switch back and forth to reset the unit, then yes I have done that and it does work. My whole goal here is to get the unit to running ICS legitimately and get updates from ACER. I don't care what I have to do, it's just a couple of the other threads mentioned the need to go back to HC to get the official ICS update. So that's why I tried that. But the last time a update.zip worked was when I flashed the leaked ICS. I have got the dead android logo every time since.
Sorry if some of this info is redundant from my earlier post, I just wanted to get it all in the same place.
Thanks again for your help.

Yes, you can, but you will lose root and CWM and be back to a "stock" experience. You won't be able to root or install CWM again without downgrading.
i tried to update from leaked ics using the lg tool and got stuck at "rethink possible" screen. had to go back to leaked ics. anyone know why it didnt work? tried it 3 times and same thing.

Did you try doing a factory reset (volume down + power) after installing the new ICS update?
How do you get CM9 to go into "PC Software" mode? Right now the update software does not see phone is connected?
Thanks

Just to clarify, when you say it "didn't work", do you mean you couldn't get it to perform the factory reset? or that you did get it to do a factory reset but it didn't fix the problem?
I can confirm. I am on he leaked ICS and can't update to this version. I too get stuck at ATT Rethink logo. I went back to Leaked build.
I tried everything from putting the phone to download mode. Trying the "Recovery option". It seems like everything installs correctly but it gets stuck during the reboot process. Nothing I do can fix it.

i couldt get it to go into factory reset mode apparently. finally got it to reset and now have new version. seems a little laggy when exiting settings and app folder. ah well. battery seems a little better now.
Stuck on "Rethink Possible" screen
I had the same problem.
I came from the rooted leaked ICS trying to update to the official version and got stuck on the rethink possible boot screen.
The way I got my phone to work was via hard factory reset
1 Turn the power off.
2 Press and hold the following keys at the same time for 8 seconds: Down Volume Key + Power/Lock Key
3 Release the keys when the FACTORY HARD RESET screen appears. (I had to try twice to get it to work and the phone needed to be unplugged from PC)
4 Read the warning and press the Power/Lock Key to confirm.
5 Press the Power/Lock Key image to confirm once more
6 Wait for your device to perform a hard reset (don't worry if it seems to be stuck on the rethink possible screen. It may take 1-2 minutes and the phone will start up properly).

I couldnt agree with you more, seems like those added features to disable unused programs and save battery actually made it worse.
I might be the only idiot but I could not get it to work till I took sd card and sim out of the phone.
I had to restart after drivers installed and use another port on laptop as the old usb one won't work...weird.
Anyways, after removing sim and sd, all I had to do was use a new fresh port after restart of computer and it all went well till I got stuck on AT&T logo. After 5 minutes, I pulled the battery out and restarted with vol down + power button and did a factory reset and all is working well now.
Thank you very much

Flash back to 2.3, Where I can the ROM?

Hi,
I know your time is precious and I have already done hours of researching, googling, and downloading...
But believe me, no luck. I only found two 2.3 ROMs, one from this forum (but was a 'rooted' one) and one from SamMobile forum.
Both didn't work properly. I even cannot dial numbers (among other problems).
Can anyone, please, tell me from where do I find an official/good ROM for samsung captivate glide i927 ?
Sorry for taking much of your time, I really appreciate it.

I have tried this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391730

I also tried the one from sampro.pl but still have many problems.

Maybe when I flashed the ICS and then I want to downgrade to Ginger, I need something more than just PDA in odin...
maybe I also need to change bootloader ??

As mentioned, the key combo for recovery is Volume Down + Power, that's the problem...
noob question...
Sorry to ask, but reading numerous forums has made me absolutely clueless as to what to do.
Long story short, My AT&T i927 is not rooted and i updated to official ICS via kies air and have been having multiple bugs, like the famous keyboard backlight issue (for which ive read the fix but was unable to implement it) and also, the pinch zoom gestures being of almost no use cuz they are THAT slow in response and the hd games on it have become extra laggy, the camera quality has become terrible.
I want to go back to gingerbread but dont know how so PLEASE, i request you to take few minutes out of your precious time and help me with one single post containing the step by step method and links to whatever it is that i need to download. I seriously appreciate this and would make sure this post is popular enough to not to be repeated again.
Eagerly awaiting your reply.
THANKS.

This isnt an odin version its a zip so all you have to do is flash it, but you want to make sure you have CWMR installed. I recommend the touch recovery because it makes it easier. Ill post link in bottom, also after you install you want to power off phone then hold power for 5 seconds and volume down to boot into recovery. To put CWMR on you need to use odin but once its on you will not need to use odin again unless another rom comes out that requires oneclick.

Go to gingerbread and try the kies emergency firmware recovery that might fix the issues but i havent tried so i dont know

This seriously is a issue worth notifying to Samsung. They shouldn't have released Kies update for the phone if it as under development. This isn't anything like Samsung. Samsung always tests the build and then releases it. I hope some samsung Official falls upon this thread and replys us all.

[Q] Need some help

Hey guys,
I was running a stock version of android 4.2, rooted etc. Last night there was a message in my notification toggle which said i had to update.
So i clicked the message, installed the update but i think the update was corrupt or something. The update was 840kb or so.
I dont really remember what i clicked because it was late in the evening etc. Now my nexus will just show the splash screen and nothing more.
PC doesnt recognise it when i connect it.
Does anyone have an idea of how i could fix this? Would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Edit: i cant get into clockworkmod recovery too but i can get into odin mode

you shouldn't update if you're not running stock (stock recovery, stock kernel, etc), i guess that what messed your system up.
is fastboot working for you? if so, you could flash the stock image from there. i think that's the only way since recovery doesn't working for you.
good luck.

Yes i can go into fastboot mode, the lock state still says unlocked.
The only thing is, i can only see the big green arrow with start in it. If i press my up and down volume buttons nothing happens.
Edit: i tried rooting and installing cwm recovery using nexus root toolkit, but it says my drivers are not installed. Any idea's of how i could do that now?

you should flash the stock image first and you can go wherever you want from there.

anyway, this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529058 should help you flashing the stock image.

Odin is the Samsung equivalent of Sony's Flashtool. CWM is another lifesaver as it has wipe options built in that can help to get a phone to boot. CWM remains installed even if the main OS is removed........

Yeah I have used sony phone for a while and i have broken it (Hard bricked) when unlocking the bootloader, then I picked up a galaxy w and I am still in love with it, Its a single core but it can do miracles. I have soft bricked my phone many times, I sometimes delete the ROM i put on the sd card to have room for the kernel and other tweaks so i use Odin to just return the stock OS and then get a new ROM and flash it inside. There is not much risk and you cant go wrong with the phone. I fixed mine many times and i know how many frustration you get when doing such thing. I remember the first time when i bricked my phone by installing kernel for another android version, and then i booted up to CWM and wiped data/cache and flashed a new rom. Because of the long booting time i thought that its over, i broke my phone, but after sitting there for 10 mins. it finally booted up. Damn i was so happy then, i rooted my phone and installed a new rom for first time :victory:

It's how I did it, and it really is very easy to do/follow.......
