I don't think it is honestly,I Loved PA rom for this feature and went back a few times just to have it. It's just the battery life is extremely terrible and too many problems with the s3 version. I think bottom stat bar is going to be huge in the future to come and would love very much to have it back be it stock or a big name rom.

[Q] Best Dinc ROM for (stable and battery life)

Hey guys, just wondering what the most stable (fewest bugs) ROM available right now is. I am also wanting to extentd my battery life. I have a rooted stock 2.2 SLCD Dinc. I know that some things work differently on the SLCD versions than on the AMOLED versions.
I have recently come from an eris and had a great support group on the eris xda section. Since the eris has been around a lot longer than the Dinc it was easy to tell what ROM's were widley used due the activity on that thread. It is not as easy in the Dinc threads because they are so even in numbers.
Thanks for any advice!
You will get a better response in the Q&A forum.
prob skyraider
i love the true vanilla roms like ruby and CM but im not sure if you would consider them 100% stable and i know theres been problems with the SLCD screens
as far as stability.. the Virtuous rom is basically the stock rom with a few user friendly options to tweak things.
I have had the best experience with skyraider's roms, I like the CM6.1 RC's but always get better battery life with skyraider.

Try IncRom. Battery life is outstanding
Myn's Warm RLS 3 is the best I've ever used. It is pristine. 2 days of battery life, no FC's, awesome speed.
Thank you for all of the suggestions. I am reading about all of them and realy wrestling with which one to try...

2.32.17 stock kernel. Seems to be really nice.
Special note though, the use of games will drain that sucker like a vampire victim.

Yeah I agree with you on that. I'm using Virtuous 3.1 which comes with the new htc kernel and it's blown my mind on battery life and charging times.
The cool thing about roms is the ability to backup and install brand new ones with no risk of really messing anything up. Try them all and find out which you like best. I try a new rom everyday practically... I'm on Myn's right now but I'm probably about to go back to rEVOlution... or Incdoes' Desire Z.... The choices...

Don't sweat over which one to go with, try them all and then decide for yourself. Once you try one or two you will become hooked and you'll be changing rom's on a daily basis and your girlfriend will be yelling at you because you're always messing with your phone....

HAHA, yes! I thought I was really the only one. I was like, baby, you're being stupid, no one else cares.... guess I was wrong. It used to be changing phones all the time, but once I got an incredible, I haven't had the desire to change hardware, just software...
Glad I'm not the only one, kinda makes me feel more like a man now.
gfs and rom flashing
man, same here....i think at 11pm no one is going to call me and i can finally flash the rom i've been waiting all day to flash, but boom! gf calls and im like damn. lol. then i spend another hour trying to make it look like how it was before i flashed, ex: download the apps (i still have learned how to use titanium backup to restore the apps), put icons in their places, login all the apps, setup emails, etc....and by the end of the week, new version of a different rom is out and i wanna flash that now.
My wife WANTS an incredible, but she HATES my phone. Shes always saying "Why cant you just PICK ONE and GO WITH IT. Im SO TIRED of your LOVE AFFAIR with your PHONE!"
Shes grown to tolerate it over the year. Kinda.
But back on topic, the ones i tried and liked so far have been
Sense: Uncommon Sense, Myn's Warm, and anything with hey its lou
AOSP: Cyanogen is great on battery, Ruby is nice and smooth, and I've liked the stuff from IncDoes.
To be honest, I don't think that the ROM affects your battery life that greatly. The kernel and what applications your running has a much greater effect. For example, I found that I got the best battery life with either an AOSP ROM, or a Sense ROM with Rosie removed (keeping all the other parts of Sense intact, just replacing Rosie with ADW.Launcher or LauncherPro). Also, LiveWallpapers destroyed my battery.
That said, stability is definitely affected by your ROM. SkyRaider seemed okay, but I had my phone wipe itself one morning, which someone else confirmed as being an issue. My personal best experience has been with Redemptive rEVOlution. Great theme, not much bloat, and nearly bugfree.

what's so good about cyanogen mod?

ive been using the iphones since they came out but recently switched over to the g2 and it's been pretty awesome.
however, my friend is always bragging about how awesome having root on his n1 is and i could never get a direct answer out of him about what's so good about these custom roms.
anyone care to tell me?
Its one of the best put together rom out there. No offense to other devs. His kernel is pretty much built for speed and stableness (dont even think thats a word) and its awesome. You gotta read the log when the rom is finished and posted. A lot of great new features and makes the phone less dull.

In simple words. Cyanogenmod adds tons of features and options that make your phone completely customizable, and it's very stable when it's finished. On top of that, you can get the latest version of Android sometimes before the manufacturer has dropped the update. And if your phone stops getting official updates, you'll probably see the cyan team try to squeeze the latest onto it. G1 running 2.2, come on!
I've got a MyTouch 3G and a G1 running Cyanogen 6.0, 2.2. It's amazing and I was sad when I got the G2 that I missed my cyanogen.
Lol someone else asked cyanogen the exact thing.
@cyanogen sorry for my ignorance but why is cyanogen better than stock? Ive been meaning to look into it since i rooted my phone about 2 hours ago via twidroid
@xsil0 imagine if you took all those little things that bothered you about the phone, fixed them, and added a bunch of neat stuff. thats cm. about 1 hour ago via web in reply to xsil0

Stability.
stability, performance, and technical features that have the potential to increase customization and battery life.
I'm looking forward the most to being able to toggle 2g/3g without that apn bull**** - should expand my battery life significantly when my phone is in extended idle (@ work).
I have been wondering the same thing. I hear about it all the time. I think that I am going to give it a go. I am on the sprint EVO 4G
CYANOGENMOD is the best rom ever built for any device as it gives tons new features and looks really nice.
It consists of tweaks that make the phone actually faster.
You want to know the difference, try cyanogenmod and then try coming back to stock.I bet you will miss it!
Customizing features and simplicity are best on Cyanogen mod roms.
for me the best of CM is smoothness and overall performance . Its fast and naked, not that much of special features.
And yea If u r lookin for features check out PACman roms

[REQ] MIUI sense?

Hey I was just wondering if it was at all possible to port over the MIUI locscreen and top bar battery to a sense rom. I like MIUI but it just feels too Iphone ish and I love everything that comes in a LeeDroid ROM. The spectrum analyzer in the lockscreen for music looks awesome and I just like the look of it in general and I think the battery being across the whole top of the screen in a thin bar is pretty sweet too.
thanks in advance for any input on this I hope you guys can get something made up
I love the look of the MIUI roms, but my battery didnt last long at all, so I've moved back to a Sense rom now.
My wish is to get the MIUI IME onto this rom, the keyboard in the MIUI is sexy as hell.
Anyone know how to do that?
u can use widget locker if u miss the sense lock screen

Is impossible that Sense rom drain less battery then MIUI (with same preferences).
Some people have terrible battery life with MIUI, and some have excellent battery life. I have somewhere in the middle. Sense always seems to be a bigger battery drain for me though.

this is very strange
The lock screen is tied to the framework or something deep like that, so I think it's hard to do so. But, I'd be happy if someone can do it.
i always have a latest leedroid and a latest MIUI on nandroid, and often switch between the two, i use launcher pro with MIUI as i prefer an app drawer, but out of the two, MIUI has the superior battery life for me.
Thread moved to General.

Why moved to general? This was originally a question of porting the MIUI lockscreen and battery indicator over to a sense ROM... i thought the porting of parts of the system and framework between roms would be considered developing...
Not trying to be rude just wanted to know the reason you moved the thread to an area with less developer traffic which will lead to the thread dying out instead of this possibly having a chance to be done.

Yeah, I saw in the MIUI topics that battery life is meant to be a lot better, but not for me. I permanently have WiFi turned on and use my phone mostly for browsing and sms. On MIUI my battery would last about half a day. On aurax sense I'm on 50% after 16 hours.
I know nothing about the Android coding language, but I've got a degree in Delphi and php, will take a look at the difference in code between the 2 on Sunday and hopefully be able to throw something together. Will keep you posted though.

Well, without looking at any code, I don't see why it can't be done. The lockscreen is more than likely somewhere in the framework, just need to figure out how to extract it.
Going to try get the keyboard and lockscreen out, because they're really sexy.
Like I said, I will look into it tomorrow when I am home with a pc and a decent internet speed.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
BUMP I'd really like to see that, too. Any ideas so far, Bending Betty? MIUI is really cool, but I just don't like the iPhone style. I didn't come from a 3GS to the Desire to theme my Desire so that it looks like an iPhone. That just doesn't make very much sense...I could make some Icons for MIUI in Photoshop that don't look so iPhone-ish, but the other things are still there. And that's just annoying. Especially the MIUI Lockscreen is really cool.
I love the spectrum analyzer when music is on and the lol of the lockscreen when battery charging n low etc. also love the battery bar across the top of the screen. those are the two main things I'm looking to have ported over.
I'm busy working on it. Will let you guys know how far I get tomorrow sometime. Only got back home 2 hours ago and its 11pm here, so I'm only going to have a chance tomorrow.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
During flash I'm getting one error, quite late in the install. I'm done for the day though, think I'm getting the flu. Will carry on tomorrow. Made a lot of progress today though, has everything you want and everything I think it should have.

Yeah! Can't wait to see it too!

Okay. Im basically done. Just need to tweak a few things here and there.
Unfortunately because of the way the miui rom is coded you're going to have to downllod my rom, which I've edited to work.
Has no iphone feel to it, most miui components, but i will post a full change log when i up the rom.
I know its not exactly what we were going for, but it is the best i can do right now.

Thats a good post...Thats a question I've been meaning to ask as well... Which ROM is the best.. I have the Sprint Lovers Rom bc I all I wanted was to be able to use the phone for its wifi ability instead of paying Sprint $30 for that garbage...
Although it seems my sense based ROM is old (so to speak) bc the Cyn mods deliver really great themes etc... But as you said how is it on the battery, when the evo already has a battery issue and I def dont want to take away from it anymore than I have too...
Do other ROMs use the ability to have other devices connect to it? Is the feature not available? Are there any good sense based themes.. IF so can someone point me to a thread.. ( when using a link please be sure it actually had what im asking) I know how to search havent found much..
So far Ive kept the sprint lovers rom..I have add a custom splash.. but i want to change my dial pad..diff boot animations.. not really seeming any that jump out here.. I would love to create some... Just a lot of questions...
I like the smooth, clean, modern look of some mods Ive seen but afraid to change bc of what i'd lose...
Ideas?

[Q] Looking for a new ROM

Hello peoples, Im looking for new ROM. One that has great batt life, one that will always get sms and mms. Any suggestions? I like sense ROM's and all the goodies that come with them. Also one that I can add my own touch to.

Edit: By the way, nobody can tell you what ROM is the best. There are a plethora of ROMs out there. Half the fun of having a rooted phone is to get flash happy with various ROMs. You need to try out different ROM/kernel combinations and find which one has the features you want with the performance and battery sustainability you need. My setup works amazingly well for me. But I've seen people who have the exact same setup and have crap battery life, bugs in their system, or just don't like the UI. It's all user preference. Get flash happy until you find one that works best for you and your style.
for sure mikg 2.58 seneless. i use the no lock version. its legit. beast battery better than aosp and fast. using agressive freedom kernel. everything works.
The new FreshEvo 4.3.1 with the standard Freedom kernel has been giving my two Evo's over 12 hours with heavy usage. It runs smooth as "buddah"...
But it is a personal choice. Fresh is a Sense ROM, which may or may not be to your taste.

I run synergy with the carousel mod. has great battery life on my hardware and is the best when it comes to getting text/mms on time. I have tried almost every sense rom that has come out in the past 4 months and keep going back to synergy.

Thank you all for the input and not telling me to search a sticky or that there is this or that for a "reason". You think I havent tried all sorts of ROMs/kernals? I cant tell you how many times I flashed a new ROM/kernal. I was hooked on flashing for a while, damn near had to go to rehab for that shyt. Yes, I know, every phone is different, but I just wanted some first hand advice from my fellow XDA'ers. I really apprecaite the feed back with the replies I got. So thank you all again. Time to get flash happy, woohooo!!!!
try the evo classic v0.0.3 by tommytomatoe one sweet Rom fast as a jackrabbit with a firecracker up his ass and I stay with about 225 RAM with my 7 homesreens full of widgets. and my battery lasts all day I can get 13 or so hrs of screen on time on my 3500 and about 6 or 7 on the stock battery and that's straight screen on almost the entire time cuz I never put my phone down. when I'm not on it all day my 3500 will go 12 plus hrs and be around 75% or so with moderate use but usually I overheat and bootloop b4 my battery dies from playing modern warfare 2 all damn day.
