HTC replacing with "C-9 device". - HTC One X

They're replacing a 3 UK branded HOX due to overheating (45-50C+ on the screen), and I requested an unbranded model as a replacement. This is due to three's latest software being 1.28.
The reply was 'yes we will give you a C-9 device'. The agent explained this means it is unbranded, but what exactly does the 'C-9' refer to?

Won't they answer that question? Sounds like their codename for a certain category... So likely only 3 staff could answer this question.

If they already said it is unbranded, then sorted. Must be their code name for an unbranded device. Just imagine they have a big spreadsheet of every type of device. Hypothetically it could be that HTC is (column)c and a branded one x is number (row) 8 so c8 and unbranded is number(row) 9 so c9

It was HTC staff, HTC are replacing it. Likely yes but I was hoping someone else knew as they're quite slow in replying.

Do I have to flash Radio according to the region of my phone or I can flash anyone?

As title, I found that my phone's signal is very poor as I'm using Radio_1.1204.104.14(Hong Kong)
And I've changed to 2.1204.135.20 (Europe) and it seems better but still dropped lines sometimes.
Does anyone know should I have to flash the version of radio accroding to my phone region or I can flash anyone? If I can flash anyone, which is the best? thanks.
P.S: My phone's version is Hong Kong Version.
Does anyone can help?

Try different versions from the same region. It is a single file.

Try Getril from play store.

Nobody can tell you which radio is best, it differs from person to person you see. It's debated from person to person, i think it just depends really.
Also, i can't answer your question, but, personally, i wouldn't risk flashing anything which isn't based on my phone's region, better to be safe than sorry. Of course i'm not saying you can't, i'm not sure D:

I know that my phone is rooted, I was just wondering whether it was possible to find out WHEN it was rooted.

if your phone is rooted it will be rooted till you'll unroot it...
Well, I think he wants to know, on what date his device got root.
As I don't have a rooted device here, I can only have a guess: maybe the superuser.apk has some dates in its properties (date of edit etc)?!

Yeah, I was hoping it would go back to the date of installation, giving me a rough idea of when the phone was rooted. But maybe not.

Do we have an official or unofficial device maintainer?

Official but we could get an unofficial as well like in almost every other device
Can't wait for this! As much as I love the GPE edition there are plenty of features I miss from CM11 on my M7.

Failed to gain s-off on my gsm M8

Compared to the at&t M8 I bought my sister I was able to at least use sunshine app for gaining s-off and then finally proceeding to perform the full conversion to the latest 5.0.1 lollipop gpe rom. My case was different, sunshine wouldn't work, and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I followed the HTC One M7 guide to gaining s-off here :
How to Gain S-OFF on your HTC One (All Models): http://youtu.be/NeFwsqU4YL4
I quickly realized the error and then tried the m8 version of the guide from the same person, and then sunshine just as on my sisters att m8, but then got the message saying it won't work on mine... I then realized I couldn't meet the requirements to perform the full GPE conversion without s-off as required in this guide: How to Convert HTC One M8 to Google Play Edition …: http://youtu.be/WEouT7eV8UA
Thereafter I remembered that this lollipop rom by sky dragon didn't require s-off to flash it.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706391
I flashed the lollipop rom and everything works fine for the most part, but I have some differences in comparison to my sister's phone with s-off which I also flashed with this sky dragon rom
First off I don't get the Google logo when booting up, I still get the green HTC logo with the white background and it says at the bottom in red something about how this build is for development purposes only and not to be distributed..
Second and maybe the last grippe.. I always notice after waking my phone that the WiFi seems to have deactivated but immediately reappears within 1-3 seconds..
I think that's all for now. If anyone can help me with these two issues I'd appreciate it. Is this all happening because of no s-off? Or maybe because I initially followed the m7 guide for s-off? Or maybe something else entirely?? My sisters phone was att and mine was just unlocked or unbranded... No carrier logos on back. Brand new and sealed too.
One word. Sunshine
:banghead: I knew this was probably too long to read for some..

Sunshine is made by the creators of most all the roots on android, they are selling it for $20 because his work takes a lot of time. I would do it in a heartbeat with the respect for (specifically) jcase.
It will s-off your phone.. I'm almost certain of it.

Correct.. I did the same with my sisters att version... But with hers I didnt make the mistake of following the s-off guide for the m7.. Either way even the m8 guide for s-off from that same YouTuber didn't work for the m8 therefore I ended up using sunshine and it worked for hers.. On mine it just said it wasn't compatible

Wow sorry you had to deal with all that ...basically what your missing is the firmware and without s-off theirs not alot you can do about that. The black bootloader screen is the GPe hboot and the bootup animation you may be able to change. check the apps and themes section

according to the firewater page it has something to do with the Emmc chip used in the device
HTC is "updating eMMC firmware in eMMC controllers that were “known-working” so firewater and Sunshine fail
