Yep. Would be surprised to see HTC release source for something they haven't released the binaries for, and therefore are not obliged to.

HTC are not gonna release 3.0 source code until they release OTA for one X including 3.0 kernel...
and even after that it might take time before htc makes it public
This is strange did Vodafone Germany release a snapdragons 4 version under the one x label?

haha thanks yup i can see EVITA i believe u
no i don't need it i was just wondering about hte One X kernel 3.0.8 release for Vodaphone germany, i didn't know Snapdragon 4 was released in europe under the One X label
as for the kernel source is it really? i checked the supplement files i think its some needed files for NFC applications / iptables, it has nothing to do with the kernel source
2.17 kernel include a lot more, like the new ondemand governor

I just saw the CRC file and assumed it was an add-on. I don't know kernels so obviously could be wrong!
As for the XL, I'm wondering if the UK will get it as 4G is coming in later this year. You can buy them unbranded 4G One X at the moment but it's not an EU software build

they did because in certain market they call the One XL as One X like in america and apparently germany too
Unfortunately, I think it's too late, the One XL / One X nomenclature boat has sailed.
I think we'll have to find something better, perhaps s720e or PJ46100, but it's hard to tell what your phone is that way (well, a quick search has hardly allowed me to find the variations, I have found s720b and PJ46110).
There are too many variations, especially when you consider network band variations of the One XL, too.

I don't know what you said.
The dual core snapdragon was called the XL and supported LTE, the Tegra3 was called X and doesn't support LTE.
Then AT&T had a dual core snapdragon, with LTE (but slightly different tech to the XL) and they called it the One X. Then Rogers joined the party, then Optus. Now it's all a mess.

On Aug 24th, when I said that, there were no released binaries on this phone for kernel 3. In fact, the binaries still haven't been released proper, although they have gone out for testing on the elevate program. It would be a tad onerous if every time you successfully compiled your code you had to release the source. There is nothing I need to get through my head.
As the the rest of the thread describes, the OP was talking about a phone that is different to the phone this sub forum is for.

Hi,
I plan to buy XL instead of HOX. (I am in Singapore, Singtel offers HOX and XL)
i have 2 questions:
1. Can I apply all the modifications intended for HOX to XL?
2. If no, I dont see any forum for XL, Do you recommend to get HOX instead?
I think XL has LTE, so the ROMs of HOX will not fit and probably rooting is not the same because the XL is in this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
The AT&T One X forum is for the phone internationally known as the One XL. The One XL has different hardware and radios, so none of the stuff made for the One X will be compatible.
It was pretty stupid of AT&T (and HTC) to call the AT&T version One X. AT&T One X is clearly a OneXL variant (they are not identical). HTC One X (the global one) is completely different hardware.
So there are 3 phones, 2 very similar (dualcores, AT&T and One XL) and 1 completely diff (quad-core tegra3).
One XL vs AT&T One X(L).
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4614&idPhone2=4572
As per your original question, if modifications are very important to you, do first look in "AT&T One X/OneXL" forum and see how the rom scene looks over there. From rom development standpoint, international OneX is better bet but personal opinion, One XL is better phone (sadly not available here in Norway).

One XL released much later, but I agree
There were rumours about XL but I didn't think it would come that fast and would had wait for it.
And its the same story with other phones, like Galaxy S3. AT&T version is a dual-core qualcomm s4 based instead of a quadcore. What the hell is wrong with this carrier?
A few years ago htc/samsung renamed their phones for usa, with different look/exterior but same hardware (desire/droid incredible, hero/eris, sensation/amaze/vivid, galaxy s/vibrant/fascinate etc).
And now they go out of their way to have different hardware that looks identical with exact same name..
Thanks.
I guess I better choose HOX over XL.
4G is new in this area,
and development of XL pretty slow and boring, i think.
I posted same question in AT&T forum, till now nobody reply and give the difference.
I found many active roms developer here.
Roms are lovelier here, and more to choose from.
I read more problems, than fixes and good news over there.
no i dont think so,
both have different specs..
btw is it out yet the XL in singapore?how much did it cost?
I have few clarifications to help me decide if a certain rom (or rooting instruction) is applicable to my phone.
(because I dont know if HOX from ATT is applicable to XL from Singtel.)
Lets say I want to do rooting or install custom rom;
What are the BASIC criteria in order for me to say that this rom (or rooting instruction) is applicable to my phone and it wont brick it (if it may brick it)?
What should I check first?
. cpu type? (dual core, quad core?, S4, tegra? where can I find this specs in my phone)
. Firmware version? (1.72, 1.85, 1.?? How do I check again)
. radio??
AFAIK radio is different between ATT and XL (international),
but is ROM still applicable on both even if radio is different?
What the hell/difference of Rogers HTC one X by the way?
I appreciate the response.
General consensus from reviews on the web say XL or Snapdragon One X are faster than Tegra One Xs and are better at battery life.
Community of the S4 seems growing every day I am sure it will have plenty of development, already it has most of the same tweaks as with Tegra ones.
I also was undecided as both work on my country. However, I decided for the Tegra one due to:
1. Easier bootloader unlocking vs AT&T One X
2. Cheaper than imported Rogers/Telus unlocked One X
3. Tegra Zone games: I am not a gamer but I am enjoying the quality of Tegra games
4. Resale value: yes in my country most people will prefer a QuadCore 32 MB than a Dual Core 16 MB phone . They dont know the story behind it unless they are geeks so resale value will hold over time vs SGS3.

AT&T (and every other LTE carrier) has to use dual core s4 versions of CPU because quad core exynos and tegra3 dont support LTE.
They are now using different hardware with exact same names probably to avoid customer confusion and having 10 variants of the same phone.

This is true to an extent. I believe tegra does support lte but it requires a separate modem whereas with the s4 the LTE modem is part of the SoC already.
Tbh I would prefer the s4 chip as it rapes the tegra in most benchmarks and battery is better. Htc and nvidia are full of crap, the companion core and all the other "battery saving" tweaks htc implemented (like completely breaking multitasking) are pointless as they just try to make up for the fact htc short changed us with the size of the battery in the HOX. The battery life still sucks.. They should have just put a bigger battery in in the first place a la galaxy s3.. /rant

Just Got Confirmation from a very recognized developer in china that is developing for the One X (xda-zgf). He confirmed that though the leak build of 2.0 doesnt contain the newer kernel, he said that with the final OTA, we will see a 3.1 kernel for our One X. He seemed quite sure, maybe he'd done a lot of digging in the codes or something. But lets all hope for the best, as 3.1 would really mean that we are on the same front line hardware and software spec wise as any competitor in the market.

But only time will tel.
I don't think that 2.xx line will have 3.x kernel. They started 2.05 rom with 2.6.3.9 kernel, so it doesn't make sense.
I dont think its 'confirmed' just because one guy said so,
I think its best to assume that 2.05 will not arrive with the kernel as the test build doesn't have it.
Only 'hope' the kernel is included.
When does the regular folk get the official RUU? - we usually get it at least a week prior to official OTA.

Anything specific you can add to this?
I know that some Android code has been taken upstream into the kernel, and that much of the arm code has been reworked to have less duplication across architectures.
But what specifically has been changed to provide much better performance for our phones?

I think it will be quite a bummer if the "flagship" One series's V won't get the update to 4.1
HTC rewrites the UI quite much so it will be time to rewrite everything to the One V, but I think it would be done in time.
And not to forget that JB is practicaly a patch for ICS, so I think V will be capable of the system.
YES, One V *WILL* get JellyBean
Reasons:
As Ken Shi_Kun said,

JellyBean isn't something like Android 5 or 6. It's just 4.1.
Also, many people have bought One V as it's really cheaper than One X and One S and has the same IceCreamSandwich (just the HTC Sense 4.0 UI is a lite version). People like One V more than One X and One S (yes I've seen such people too!) as it can actually be called a "phone" which fits it the pocket and is easy to use. One S and One X have bigger screen size which is obviously little difficult to handle and the One S and One X are really costly (it's not worth buying just a "mobile phone" for this price). One V has the chin too! My friend specially bought One V for chin!
When anyone would like to buy an HTC phone and sees the One Series, probably the first choice be One X but the person will buy One V for sure if he is a budget-like person (who doesn't buy things more than his budget).
Moreover, there aren't many things for HTC to do for getting JellyBean for One V. It's just 4.1!

Totally wrong!
One V is not "flagship" at all. You cannot call "flagship" a phone that has 512 mb ram and a cpu that is 2 years old. This phone will PROBABLY NOT get Jelly Bean as an official rom, but then again, only time can tell.
AND JELLY BEAN IS NOT A PATCH FOR ICS!
If this is called 4.1 it doesn't mean this is a patch! Have you read what Jelly bean brings to Android OS? Changes are internally, not externally as in graphics and widgets. You all are expecting new theme instead of new code implemented and things rewriten just to make Android moving alot faster.
Have you ever heard of project BUTTER? This is the new stuff implemented in Jelly Bean. What this does? Well on short, GPU + CPU = UI RENDERING (as in Sense Rendering). Right now, ALL of Android OS'es are working like this CPU = UI RENDERING.
So Project Butter will make Android working at 60 fps, by activating GPU alongside CPU to make the UI rendering and thus not stressing so much the CPU that will have time and resources to do other stuff (such as running apps in background better etc.)
The One series is a premium line including the V. The mid-low line HTCs this year are called Desire. This is close to what Ken-Shi-Kun is saying. As the device was just released in April 2012 and HTC is marketing it as premuim (regardless of the 1 core CPU), it has lots of development life left.
Also, Jelly Bean shares critical hardware-side components such as drivers with ICS. This greatly reduces headache for the developers. For now, all of us are speculating.

Even if htc does decide to give jelly bean to our devices, it's going to be bloated with so much crapware(read:sense) that I'm sure the effects of project butter will not be seen.
I think we're better off waiting for this device to get more development and maybe cm10 will come for it.

it is said that JB is not SO much different from ICS and it will be quite easy to upgrade ICS-running devices to JB. It wont take long as trasnfer from GB to ICS. Plus HTC tries to upgrade most of its devices releases in last 2 years, so I guess maybe it will take longer for One V to get JB than S or X but eventually it will.

no! JB is DIFFERENT from ICS. TOTALLY!
user interface remained the same, yes! but the changes are internally, on how the UI is rendered. basically the transitions and overall speed will get increased 100%!
Also, HTC is going to use its own launcher

This is not HTC firmware. It is a knockoff of the htc one x
Your device had a lower res qhd screen compared to the actual one x
Your processor is a dual core a9 exynos chip where as the actual has either a quad core a9 nvidia tegra 3 or a dual core a15 Qualcomm chip. You will probably never receive any updates for this device. Android 4.1.1 is the latest revision so I don't know how you have 4.1.9.

Do not flash anything from this forum unless you want a fancy paperweight

please do you have your rom backed up or no, if yes can you uploaded for me,
i flashed the wrong rom and i cant find the original rom any where,
and youre the only one that got the same rom as me,
thanks
Hello guys I just have a couple of questions and maybe if you guys need to let me know some things I would appreciate the further insight. I have flashed roms before and this time I am just going to leave the phone as it is but it is more about what was done to this device and what could be causing some very minor issues with the play store. This device was rooted and unlocked by the previous owner and is working great. I been trying to download the Tegra Zone application and it says that my device is not compatible with that version. In fact I have it in my downloads history from another phone. When I search for it it doesn't appear in the market. Is there anything that is causing this HTC one x from ATT to not be recognized properly. If you need me to provide some minor information I would be glad to. At this moment I can only provide that is unlocked, rooted, and running version 4.0.4.
Well, unfortunately you do not have a tegra soc under the hood. AT&T One X is different and it has a dual core cpu.
Are you saying that the Htc One x doesn't have a Tegra 3?
You are sayin' that you have an AT&T One X. That means you have evita version which comes with dual core snapdragon, not tegra 3. Go to settings -> hardware info, what does it say? Or go to bootloader, does it say endeavoru or evita on the top line?
