I have a semi-decent pair of Rocketfish BT headphones that I just paired with my SGN and I gotta tell you, damn, this tablet pounds out some powerful tunes. I also own a SGS2 phone and that is nowhere close as far as the sheer energy of the music it puts out.
If you get a chance to pick up some Rocketfish BT headphones (like $50) or anything else comparable, do, you won't be disappointed pairing them with the Note 10.1.

Can you post a link to them? Never had a BT headset. The sound, whether through external LR headphones is of superior quality on Note 10.1. It uses wolfson dac, correct? Devs. Will make it even better once developement takes off.
It's aptX. If you really want to be blown away, pick up one of these.

Because aptX is lossless, the sound quality has to be heard to be believed. The HTC audio bridge is aptX and the coupler allows you to use it with any 3.5mm wired headset. If you listen to it with a FLAC file or another non-compressed source you'll be ruined for life.

Very few have aptX (yet). Assuming your content's decent it's worth the additional bucks to find BT headsets that support aptX. If you listen to highly compressed content it becomes less important as the content itself becomes the weakest link.
I recommend these. You can even answer phone calls with them. The sound is unbelievable.:good:

Is there a way to tell if my tablet is streaming audio using the aptX codec?

There should be no sound quality difference between I9100/I777/N7000 and N80xx when using a BT headset, since the crappy Yamaha DAC isn't used.
I have a pair of Jaybird JF3s, they are great when combined with Comply Tx-200 tips. (Older JF3s used Tx-400 tips, newer ones need the smaller Tx-200.)

Did you mean i9000 and i9300? The N7000 uses a Yamaha YMU823.
"The Galaxy S II uses Yamaha audio hardware.[29] The Galaxy S II's predecessor, the original Galaxy S, used Wolfson's WM8994 DAC.[30] User feedback on Internet forums as well as an in-depth review at Clove,[29] have expressed the Yamaha chip's inferior sound quality compared to that of the Wolfson chip featured in the original Galaxy S."

Yes I meant the I9100. The OP said there was a difference in sound quality between I9100 and N8013 which doesn't make sense as the crappy Yamaha DAC in the devices listed above isn't used for Bluetooth streaming. The only possibility is some sort of software difference in the streaming configuration.
For wired headsets, the DAC in the N80xx should provide significant improvements over the Yamaha in GS2-family devices. For Bluetooth streaming it has no role.
Jawbone Icon
I was trying to pair my Jawbone Icon BT and the SGN won't even pick up the pairing signal from the Jawbone.
Is there any issues with pairing BT headsets with SGN?
Got it to work. Just download the latest jawbone firmware, turned BT on GN on and off and then it scanned properly and paired my Jawbone Icon
Now I just hope it works well. Will test it later.:fingers-crossed:
Just recieved my LG Tone+ HBS730 with Aptx today. One word..... WOW! It sounds that much better. Enjoying it on the note 10.1 and the GS3. Highly recomend everyone to get Aptx headphones. No equalizer needed at all.

I have a mono bluetooth headset I use for making calls but that I would also like to use for listening to my phone radio. I know there are several available in the market. Anyone have a recommendation?
I am using Supermono right now and it works well but could have better volume.
Last I checked, this can't be done.
Super BT Mono Froyo.
The sound quality sucks though. The free trial lasts 5 days and then you have to buy the app and at $2.99 for lousy quality it's not worth it. Then again quality depends on the individual so if you try it and like it then kudos.

Yeah, well it al depends on how you want to use it. I like to listen to talk radio on TuneIn in the car and the speaker isn't loud enough for me to hear it over engine noise. With this, I can listen on my bluetooth headset and still make calls as well so worth it. Also, its just 3 bucks

Yeah Super BT Mono pretty much works as advertised and comes with a nice homescreens widget to turn it on and off.
One nice thing about it is that it transitions seamlessly between whatever you are streaming and an incoming call. Once the call is over it goes back to your streaming audio automatically.
The price on it just went down to like $2 and change. Definitely worth it IMHO.
P.S. the sound quality for music sucks, not because the software is bad but because your mono headset wanst really designed for music.

Awesome thanks for the answer. Exactly what i've been needing!! Now i can make use of my entire BT collection! Majority are not A2DP, the ones that are, are not comfortable. I have 3 more (2 at work, 1 in car) that are not in this pic. I couldn't live without BT. I've been using it for years (aprox 50 different ones) and will purposely cut a call short if i have to hold a phone to my ear for more than a few minutes... So far so good with quality on the other end...
I do have a gripe about Super Mono BT Froyo..It is not silent, a lot of occasional random noise when enabled. I doesn't bother me if whatever i am listening to is actually playing 100% of the time, i can barely here the noises then. If there is any pause or silence, the scratches and clicks are very annoying, and not gonna be manageable for me. Does anybody have any other suggestions for a different app? TIA
I came across Bluetooth audio widget, they also provide 5 days trial. Will be trying it tomorrow.

Any link to the specific video? Was it a direct comparison or just one of his other videos because I'm not able to find a direct comparison video for the two.
I've been listening to music through the native the Touchwiz music player and it seems pretty good if anyone else has used it. I really like the auto equalizer and the Music Square.
One thing, bug or feature, the performance and sound quality is better when the screen off or the music player is in the background. I don't know if it only happens with headphones though.

I think many people have a sort of fanboyism towards Wolfson chips. The main influence is due to the comparison of generations of apple products. Until today the war between Wolfson and competing chips such as Cirrus Logic have been raging.
This is mainly just a placebo effect. Sound quality is something very subjective from person to person. I have an iPod Classic with a Cirrus chip, an Acer Iconia Tab A500 with a Wolfson, a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc with a proprietarty Sony DAC, and finally a HTC One X, which doesn't have a discrete DAC and uses the one built into Tegra 3. By an A/B style comparison, with same resolution FLAC files, I'd say the Xperia and iPod are the best sounding, followed by the Acer and then the HTC.
Another point to note is that sound quality is also highly attributed to the source (uncompressed or not, quality of the record etc), and the earphones.
Pair any mobile device with a good source and good earphones and you will definitely be rewarded with good sound.

there's a lot of copy paste going on with the reviews of these handsets, sometimes resulting in completely false information
If it is the same audio chipset as the HTC One S (also Qualcomm S4), there's nothing to be unhappy about:

Due to the EU sound law, the international version has capped audio and weak gain as a result. Same issue as Archos media players and tablets. Weak audio output from 3.5mm jack.
Anyone have a link to all the media and music file types the SIIII supports?
|Trolling with a smile|
I've got the sprint model, and I found the audio disappointing. I've only really noticed with rock, but my old Epic 4G sounds better, and is a little louder. Epic is indistinguishable from a CD, but the SIII is just not as good.
Im hoping some software or an equalizer can fix it.
Yep, the audio quality on the S3 leaves me wanting. Still a notch below my iPhone 4. If you guys want some more info on the SQ head over to HeadFi I know some people already put up EQ Charts and Graphs comparing the S3 to some phones.

I'm using BackBeats, and they're pretty darn good. The only issue is being earbuds, their playing battery life is in the vicinity of 3-4 hours.
I use the LG Tone+. They work great and have excellent battery life. The only issue I have is that sometimes they have a flaky connection for no apparent reason.
Before these, I had the jaybird freedom. They worked great until I lost them.
If you are an audiophile, you will probably be disappointed with all bluetooth headphones. You sacrifice a bit of fidelity because bluetooth compresses the signal.
I use mine at the gym. The slight downgrade in sound quality is worth it to be wireless when working out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but although I've heard Bluetooth 4.0 does suffer reduced audio quality compared to earlier variants, I also believe that the One implements one of the newer Bluetooth audio codecs that cleans things up? Granted, it isn't going to match wired connections (or even better wireless methods), but I have heard it's significantly better.
If you want audio quality, all the blue tooth headsets you should look at is anything with apt X as that will make the sound quality almost sound lossless like a member said. Not many headsets support these thought but I really recommend you get an apt X enabled one. Then you have to look at what's more your style. On ear, in ear or over ear. If you want on ear, there are many option. I owned the jaybird sb2 and really liked them but they messed up on me after six months. Got it replaced no problem. If you are in ear, try the LG tone + or the jaybird freedom. There are many variations of the tone but look for one with apt X codec. Well let me go no further. Just get one that has apt X codec and start reading reviews and seeing what others say about what they like about it. Don't expect many people to talk about apt X. Many don't even have a device with it enabled. The HTC one does have it though. Happy hunting

Can't be happier with them , plus I bought em for 35USD ( ebay ).
The only con is the audio quality on calls, but other than that it works great in that departmanet as well
Cheers.

i am using this since a year, it delivers awesome bass with proper levels of treble. and yeah those are sturdy as rock!
SoundMagic ES-18 is a great buy. Punchy but non-destructive bass and good highs and mids.
Creative EP-630 - Been around for 8 years and still going strong. It's the one I am using at present. A good bang for buck till the arrival of ES-18.
Sennheisser CX-180 Street II is another great choice but not as economical as others.
I have tried couple of Skullcandy in-ears. But all of those died within an year.
My Pick : SoundMagic ES-18
hey all,
I was thinking about ordering a fold 3, I think I already know the answer, but anyone that actually has one in their hand - could they verify the Bluetooth codecs available, specifically APTX HD or APTX Adaptive?
Android Central says it does but not sure I believe that article
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 vs. Galaxy Z Fold 2: Should you upgrade?
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is here, and it comes with a host of exciting upgrades from the Z Fold 2. So if you're currently using the Z Fold 2 or are interested in a foldable, here's what you ...

Seems unlikely. Samsung favors their SSC and they have LDAC as well.
Doubt they will do the licensing or expense needed.
LDAc is superior to APTX HD. SCC maybe slightly less, equal or superior to LDAC.
Regardless all bt codecs can't support the needed bandwidth for the high resolution output that a wired or toshlink digital output can.
The Samsung bt Buds line couple seamlessly that other 3rd party solutions can't match.
There's also the proprietary 360° surround feature on new Samsungs that only the Buds Pro (maybe +?) can use.
The SSC bt devices are still your best bt shot with Samsung... that's my thoughts.
I've invested too much into beoplay headphones which use aptx adaptive so was hoping for hd at least.
Thanks anyone that does have the device in hand and confirms.
Hello,
I have the Fiio's UTWS3 and after checking in the dev options it says that they're connected in aptx mode and the "HD audio" option is active. So I believe that it's using aptxHD

If it were HD the frequency would be 96kHz. Samsung to my knowledge have never supported aptX HD

Look at the codec, it's AptX.
Check codec options.

The UTWS3 do not support 96khz but 44-48khz yes. I don't have anything higher end to test.

You're screen shot doesn't show the codec drop down menu. If AptXHD is available, it will be listed.
There's no aptxHD listed but the HD audio option seems to complete that

That's probably for wired.
It either has the codec or not. Not listed, not there... a predictable outcome.
Never trust a review unless verified for the exact variant you're buying. This audio spec disinformation bs has been going for at least 7 years... seems deliberate.
Not all bad as the SSC codec is a good bt codec.
Get the Buds+ or higher. For music use Poweramp and dial them in with it's graphic equalizer. Poweramp will also show the playback pathway in detail.
Nah I got KZ AST and Fiio UTWS3 buds, they're way more worth the money in terms of quality

No SSC or LDAC support. They don't have near the bt bandwidth...
Worse your losing features native to only Samsung bt devices.
Honestly, I'm not losing much : I can still have really great audio, an app that allows me to customise everything on the buds (EQ, buttons, tts notifications, Hey Google, etc...) and they're modular : I can change the drivers any day of the week.
The S Buds are nice too (got some Galaxy Buds for when I go to sleep and they're fine) but with my fiio's I got 6,5h of use on a single charge

You lose the seamless connectivity and the 360° dolby support.
The Buds+ is an upgrade from the Buds, I have both. The difference between SBC, AAC, AptX vs SSC is noticeable. I've tested it repeatedly.
360 audio, must be the same as using the 'Stereo' option in Poweramp. Never liked stuff tampering with audio too much. And as for the seamless connectivity, my bt earphone auto connect to my phone which is way enough for me. Again you must have some advantages that I don't have but I personally don't miss the aptxHD as I never was able to tell the difference between the two

It's a new dolby variant mostly for a surround gaming experience. My 10+ doesn't support it.
Straight throughput with no Dolby is usually best for music as Dolby introduces distortion.
I got excited there for a minute but looks to only support aptx.
Thanks for confirming

I'm an audiophile and I also struggle to tell the difference between aptX and aptX HD
Snapdragon version of Samsung (lucky worldwide for all fold models), with support for aptX has quite decent BT audio, one of the loudest and crispier among android devices. In dev options i always check disable absolute volume to have my headphones not tamed by my phone limits.
I use true wireless quite cheap Liberty air 2, but have decent over the ears Bowers &Willkins P7 wireless and they sound nice, no complain.
Is there anything more i can do to improve more my headphones sound quality ?
